Lunch At Kopitan Restaurant, Logan Heritage, Beach Street

    P1070020

Do you know about the Logan Heritage on Beach Street? It’s a new refurbished and restoration of old heritage building, turning into F&B outlet, shops and offices. There’s another one next to it is the Whiteway’s Arcade.

    P1070026

Today’s lunch was at Kopitan Restaurant and I went there with mom. It’s super easy to find as it’s located on Beach Street (Lebuh Pantai), right opposite of RBS bank and Standard Chartered bank. Every time I passed by the place, I saw the name Kapitan, but when getting closer for a look, the name is actually KOPITAN, it’s KOPI, not KAPI, which everyone always mistaken for it. Haha.

First up, mom ordered a Mixed Fruit Salad (RM4.80) and it’s kinda cool. Basically it’s a bowl of mixed fruit, like apple, orange, mini tomato and raisin. Then it’s mixed with the thousand island salad sauce, become a healthy appetizer.

    P1070030

Mom ordered a light meal for her. It’s a Pineapple Cheese Toast (RM6.50). One thing I’ve forgotten to mention is that their menu are something like those Old Town style, but somehow the price is cheaper and have different style of toast. I can feel the little pineapple cutlet and the cheese. It melts onto the toast. The best part is that the bread is very soft and good.

Here’s my lunch at Kopitan Restaurant which is a Kam Heong Chicken Chop Rice (RM8.90). It looks pretty good and taste good too. Just ignore the soup as it’s just normal soup that’s nothing special. The crispy chicken chop poured with Kam Heong sauce which tasted sweet and spicy. Love the onion and love the sauce and chicken! Somehow if there’s more sauce to be eat with the rice, then it will be better.

  • Haegen Dazs For Yiphing’s Birthday

Hohoho, I want to wish Yiphing the Bunny Shakespears a happy birthday. She is a good friend of mine that I know her for like 4 years already. Last night, we wanted to go look for gift for her with Boo Teik, Chien Chern and Johnny Zheng Feng at 1st Avenue but we was late and many shop was already close already and we thought of Haagen Dazs in the end.

We brought a pint and went to her house straight for a surprise. Our plan was Chien Chern called her that his car broke down somewhere near her house and wanted her to come fetch him. Then when she come out from her house, we surprised her with the ice cream and a candle.

    Happy Birthday Yiphing. =D

Yay, got ice cream eat. =D Happy Sunday too!

  • Somewhere Around Buckingham Street and Campbell Street, Penang

    P1060871

You know, I really wish that there’s more shops to walk around in downtown, the George Town, the capital city of Penang. There’s full of old and classical and beautiful heritage building and architecture which makes people feels good, just like me. I wonder why there’s no developer make a shopping street in town so that people can appreciate the UNESCO status of Penang more.

    P1060874

People prefer to go walk at the shopping mall rather than travel around the city. The city is like a place more to the tourist then the local. Hmm.

There’s one street in Penang that has a great potential to develop into a shopping street like the Campbell Street connecting to the Buckingham Street at the end. It was a glory back in 80’s where Chinese pioneered the shops here with friendly people and shoplots. But as years goes on, shop owner moves away to other place as they don’t really own the shop.

Grandpa had a furniture shop here 10 years back but it’s no more right now as the owner stop renting the place. If plan well, this street can be a great place for the local to hang out with cool heritage architecture. Let it be cafes, fashion boutique and restaurants, it will be so awesome.

If I am rich, I’ll buy and develop this place, but too bad I am not rich. HAHA. Penang State Government and Penang Development Corp., please do something to bring back the glory of Campbell Street. =D

  • Long Time No See Yiphing, Chien Chern and Raykee Aw

Long Time No See Yiphing, Chien Chern and Raykee Aw

I met 3 of my crazy buddies, Yiphing, Chien Chern and Raykee Aw (Chen Yuen) last week! It’s really long time no see. The last time I saw Yiphing was, I’ve forgotten, last year I guess, the last time I met Chien Chern was 4 weeks ago and the last time I met Raykee Aw was last year too! It’s really had been a long time.

    Yan Chien Chern.

Moving on and getting apart is just some part of our life right? Still remember we hang out almost all the time during the time after high school and before college. But after that, everyone have their own life and busy with their own thing. It’s not easy to get back to what it was when everyone was busy with different things.

    Raykee Aw Chen Yuen.

I guess, that’s life? Meeting friends once in a while is happy. The time we spend most with friends are during high school, so cherish your moment.

    Yiphing.

Not saying friends are the most important people in your life, there’s still your family. When you get apart from your friends, family are they one that you should get close to, no matter what, family is still the closest and friends comes next. With the equilibrium of friends, family, work, and enjoy, that’s a perfect life.

Hello friends, are you still reading my blog? =D I miss you all.

  • First Day With Sigma 8-16mm At Hard Rock Hotel Penang

This is what I did after getting my new Sigma 8-16mm super ultra wide angle lens for Canon mount last week. =D I asked my girlfriend, Hueisean together to go to the Hard Rock Hotel to try some shots with the latest lens.

I think I can be the ambassador for Hard Rock Hotel Penang because I always go there to take photos and walk for fun, then post onto my blog. =D I guess that’s the best relaxing place to take photos and because they have parking spaces too!

You see the lens, it’s so wide that it can capture almost everything with little and unnoticeable distortion. It was a quiet afternoon with no live band at the lobby as live band is only available during the night. Though, the laughter and shouting of kids and adults playing at the pool can be heard. What a lovely evening.

It was close to sunset but sunset was no where to be seen. It’s not super hot yet, sun shines on our faces and the warm sunlight touched our skin. We spent a little time at the beach, taking photos and chit-chat with each other, at the same time see people playing water sports.

The ivory golden sandy beach outside Hard Rock Hotel is no doubt the cleanest beach in Penang. The other beaches are dirty.

    She jumped.

Perspiration started coming out from the pores and it’s also the time for us to leave the hotel for some cooling in the vehicles. It’s nice to try out the lens at this place but what I wanted to shoot most is some nice interiors.

    Interiors like something below:

The lobby and a male toilet. =D I’ve no regret of getting this lens because it’s serve me well as a interior design student and a photography enthusiast. Welcome to Hard Rock Hotel.

  • Beautiful View Of Penang And Seberang Perai

Recently, I took the ferry from Penang island to the mainland to accompany my grandma to the bus station at the Penang Sentral. And I bought a new lens lately, the Sigma, I brought on-board to take photos. =D

Penang is super famous for the ferry service, it’s free when going to the mainland, but I strongly suggest they should clean the thing because it’s pretty dirty. But I am pretty proud that we have such ferry service ferrying people to a cross the straits. Ferry is not the important past of this post, cut the crap and let’s getting into some nice landscape view of Penang. =D

The left is Penang island and the right is the mainland Seberang Perai near the Penang Port area. You see, they are so near and if there’s a bridge or tunnel connected both area, then it will be damn cool. =D

The lens is so wideeeeeee. OMG. I love my Penang.

  • Penang Canon EOS User Gathering At Coob Cafe

Last Sunday night, I went to Coob Cafe at KOMTAR Walk to meet up with the Penang Canon EOS DSLR users for a little chit-chat and sharing session (some known as TT / Teh Tarik session). Well, since I am in a holiday and so lucky to be back in my hometown while his event happens, so I went to join the EOS DSLR user for a little gathering to make friends and try some power gear. =D

These lens total up can buy a car. I am serious.

I actually got the invites from Facebook and I knew one of them. It’s a good sharing session because I get to played with some powerful lenses and learn about some photography stuff, as you know I am still very noob in photography even though I have been playing for quite a long time, yet my interest in photography has not faded yet.

As you know, I just bought a new lens lately, the Sigma, so I shared it out too. One thing, my camera was the oldest at there, using the Canon EOS 400D, what a classic. Even though it’s old, I am still loving it, it’s still powering my blog with all the awesome photos.

Somehow, I am thinking of upgrade, just that I don’t have enough money for it yet. So in the mean time of saving it, I am still sticking with my lovely 400D. =D

Played 2 L lenses at there, one was the 70-200 F2.8L and another one was the 100mm F2L. L lens is the top of the lines and the most high quality Canon photographic lens, people like to say L stands for luxurious. For your information, an L lens, the cheapest one is about RM2.8k. Expensive right? Photography is really an expensive hobby. However, the photo quality is superb!

Please support my sponsors (advertisement on blog) more so I can save more money to upgrade my photography gear. =D

    Do you like photography?

  • Brought DID Friends To Penang’s Kuan Yin Temple

Brought DID Friends To Penang’s Kuan Yin Temple

Well, last week, my classmate of Diploma In Interior Design (DID) from all over the places (KL, Indonesia, Muar, Sandakan) came to visit my hometown, unfortunately I could hardly spend time with them because my brother came back from Singapore recently and most of my time spent was with my family, and want to apologize for that matter. =) Anyway, did meet up with them in the middle of the night and also the last day of their trip.

One of the place I brought them was to the UNESCO site, the famous Penang’s Kuan Yin Temple on Pitt Street, to pray and to see. It’d been some time I didn’t go to pray already, so it’s a good opportunity too.

Surprisingly, they were kinda excited and interested while visiting the temple. I thought they would thought that temple is boring and dirty and blablabla, but no.

Well, want to let you guys know that the Kuan Yin’s Temple on Pitt Street is one of the must visit in Penang because it’s listed in one of the UNESCO Heritage Building list, so it’s cool. =D

It’s very very very hot day though. But then it’s raining now in Penang! =D I always keep track of what’s happening back home. Yay.

    =) Birds.
  • An Accident On Jalan Tanjung Tokong

An Accident On Jalan Tanjung Tokong

It was a fine and quiet Sunday. A BOMBA (Fire and Rescue) truck was spotted by the roadside with several fire fighter and many busybodies on Jalan Tanjung Tokong. The date was 17 April 2011. I live near that area and was curious so I went to check out what’s happening. At first, I thought it was snake, I saw people going in to the manhole, I thought there’s a big python or something sort of animal and mom thought that there’s people fallen into the man hole.

I was thinking that it’s pretty ridiculous to fall into a manhole because all manhole are closed and even if it’s open, people will tend to walk away from it.

I went to check it out what’s happening, joining the busybodies group, yes I am a busybody. In fact, the real thing is really people stuck inside the manhole. The real news is like this, 2 underground drain worker went to clean the underground drain but got flushed away by water and they were stuck in the drain. Drown and I saw body took up by the BOMBA in the afternoon.

Then they continue to search for the 2nd body. They were pretty unsure that where the bodies had flushed to and stuck at, one were found pretty quickly and another one took them till the night.

After seeing that they rescued one, I went back home thinking that it will be over soon, but there’s even more BOMBA trucks and onlookers coming to the site. I got even curious and went to check it out again.

Armed with a camera to take photos. One is be a busybody, another is I get to shoot photos of they are working.

It’s pretty sad that the workers went to work in the morning and got flushed away. It took like so long to find them. I believe it’s not easy to look for as the underground drain is filled with toxic gas, moreover is flooded and lies deep underground.

The day was high tide and that’s where the water came from, the sea.

Underwater cable camera was used in the drain too, but found nothing.

The whole Jalan Tanjung Tokong was jam, everyone was just looking to the roadside, slowing down their car to check out what’s happening. Very funny thing is that busybody not from this area even park their motorcycles and went to check out what’s happening. This is so Malaysian.

    BOMBA getting ropes.

There’s 5 BOMBA trucks at there, including one volunteered BOMBA, one police van and a ambulance.

Well, I felt bored and went back home and didn’t bother to wait for news.
