Brought DID Friends To Penang’s Kuan Yin Temple

Well, last week, my classmate of Diploma In Interior Design (DID) from all over the places (KL, Indonesia, Muar, Sandakan) came to visit my hometown, unfortunately I could hardly spend time with them because my brother came back from Singapore recently and most of my time spent was with my family, and want to apologize for that matter. =) Anyway, did meet up with them in the middle of the night and also the last day of their trip.

One of the place I brought them was to the UNESCO site, the famous Penang’s Kuan Yin Temple on Pitt Street, to pray and to see. It’d been some time I didn’t go to pray already, so it’s a good opportunity too.

Surprisingly, they were kinda excited and interested while visiting the temple. I thought they would thought that temple is boring and dirty and blablabla, but no.

Well, want to let you guys know that the Kuan Yin’s Temple on Pitt Street is one of the must visit in Penang because it’s listed in one of the UNESCO Heritage Building list, so it’s cool. =D

It’s very very very hot day though. But then it’s raining now in Penang! =D I always keep track of what’s happening back home. Yay.

    =) Birds.

Pre-Birthday Ice Cream Cake For Wanyi – The Tall Girl

Wanyi, the tall girl which I always called because she is tall, tallest in class, taller than me, I am short, stop. =D She’s the only Penang friend in my class, the same hometown people had her birthday celebrated early, which supposed to be falls on 15th May. =D

We decided to get her an ice cream cake from my school’s Baskin Robbins and let her blow the candle after class on Thursday.

Then we ate the cake together. Yums. Most importantly is, happy birthday tall girl! =D

  • i-City, Cool Light Garden And Park In Shah Alam

i-City, Cool Light Garden And Park In Shah Alam

Not sure if you guys know about this place or not, I think it’s pretty new and I only knew about it recently when I passed by while going to Klang for Bak Kut Teh on one fine night. I saw the place filled with many LED lights trees, it’s like a park, like a garden and it’s called i-City, which is in Shah Alam.

One fine night, I went there with friends to check out the place with curiosity because I didn’t really know what’s the place is about cause I heard before we need to pay entrance fee, it’s just all light trees, nothing much. But after checking it out, I know what’s that.

Yes, we need to pay RM10 for parking per car. If walking into the place, you need to pay RM2 per person. Wow! Very expensive park, I am selfish, they shouldn’t charge and open for free to attract more and more and more visitor.

Well, if you go in the morning or before 7pm, it’s FREE. =D As long as the sky is not dark, you need not to pay. But you will see nothing when it’s bright. It’s actually all fake tree with LED as the leaves and petals. I thought it was LED on the real trip but actually it’s not.

    Lai Quen.

    Gary, my senior.

Lai Quen, Connie and Zhi Inn.

Although it’s just light, I think it’s pretty fun to walk around to take photo. Remember to bring a good wide aperture lens like 50mm f/1.8. Too bad I lend that lens to my brother and I only have my Tamron 17-50, shooting at 1600ISO. A steady hand is needed.

Then there’s some part of the i-City need to pay optional fee like there’s a mini animal park which is just animal sculpture in LED, you pay RM2. I didn’t go in. =D Then there’s also the reptile centre where you need to pay again, it’s real reptile though, like a super duper mini reptile zoo. There’s lots of snake and everything.

Quite many people taking photos and walking around at there. My friend told me that i-City serves as commercial office blocks in the morning and there’s a few restaurant where people can chill out at night. But the main attraction is the light park.

Well, do wear lightly, although it’s windy sometimes, but it’s still warm after all and perspiration beats out of our body.

Then at one side of the park, there’s a few games stall like in the fun fair and I saw a big outdoor LCD screen, it was playing CSI that time. I like the concept of the place, it’s like a new hang out place but they should reduce the parking and have more restaurants and cafe, and shopping too, then it’s perfect.

    Yay, yay, bully. =D

    Wei Kean and the Freako.

Went back at 12am after checking out the super duper mini reptile zoo. =D RM5 for student entrance. Haha. Very good.

iCity is a good visit. Want go again when I have a better camera gear, oh yeah!

  • Meet-Up With Penang’s Friends At Sunway Pyramid McDonald’s

Meet-Up With Penang’s Friends At Sunway Pyramid McDonald’s

Happy birthday to Chun Khai, the person in the photo below. He received a Fillet O Fish birthday cake with a candle stick on top. =D Haha.

Two weeks back, Min Xiang, a friend from Penang called me that he came to KL to play and shopping then ask me to meet him up at the Sunway Pyramid near to me. Since it’s so near to me, I went to find them. It’s so nice seeing people from the same hometown.

I met two new people, Chun Khai, the birthday boy and Theng Theng, who was already a friend in Plurk but only met that day.

Well, adapting to this place is not my favor thing, I think this is a awesome place, with some awesome people too, and awesome shopping malls, happenings and stuff, but then you know, home is still a home, we have to go back to our home because it’s the place where we grow up. I want to make my hometown a better place to live so I am so hommie. Penang rocks.

    Jocelyn, me and Kah Sing.

We spent time walking in Sunway Pyramid and talking at McDonald’s, actually walking around shopping malls is a good thing to do to past time, window shopping takes a long time, it’s fun and it doesn’t require any money too. The time pass even faster if the mall is huge and you walk slowly, that’s what we did.

However we had too much time at there and we didn’t know where to go, end up sitting in McDonald’s, playing Fruit Ninja.

Min Xiang, me, Theng Theng and Chun Khai.

End up the high score of Fruit Ninja on my iPhone and iPad got pwned by them. Really very pro. Haha.

  • Overnight at Taylor’s Study Room 24/7 for IBS Project

Overnight at Taylor’s Study Room 24/7 for IBS Project

Wesley Low and Low Jia Hui.

Till now, I still haven’t try not sleeping for whole night and continue work for another day. Seriously, the minimum hour I slept in my life is 30 minutes, which is 2 days ago. =D But the feeling and the fun of doing the work together till late was fun, for that day only.

Kevin To of Vietnam. Blur look.

Interior Behaviour Study and Malaysian Studies, two project due at the same time and our last minute worms in our body made us stayed up in the campus’ 24/7 study room for the whole night, accompany by cold air-con, Internet, Red Bull, quietness and sleepyness.

    Wanyi and Steve.

I was there from 7pm until 730am the next morning, oh yeah. Cutting, writing, pasting, modelling, idea-ing, that’s what I did.

People told me that Red Bull can help us stay awake and it’s indeed true, and the drinks is delicious too, but it’s only functioned for about 2-3 hours for me. Haha. I still felt tired and sleepy after having one in the midnight. Food from the vending machine accompanied me too.

Arvin in the background, looking sleepy.

By the time I went back home to freshen up, it’s 7.00am where sun was already rising. I took a short sleep for half an hour then I went back to school for lecture and presentation.

    P1050946

The road started to jam early in the morning, now I only knew about that as I thought that road was supposed to be smooth in the morning. Haha.

=) Work of Arvin, Kevin and Nicholas.

    P1050950

    P1050954

    P1050956

Later that morning, I had two presentation, one for Malaysian Studies and another for Interior Behaviour Studies, did good, and still power. But my battery went low in the afternoon went I lied on the bed, straight away slept till night and felt reborn after that. Haha.

I personally feel that works and assignments are good because I paid a big amount to study, I don’t want to pay for nothing. =) But not too over assignments, lah. Haha.

  • To Pavilion with Arvin, Wanyi, Lai Quen, Zhi Inn, Connie and Nita

To Pavilion with Arvin, Wanyi, Lai Quen, Zhi Inn, Connie and Nita

It’s a title full of names because I don’t know what title to write for this post already. Hahaha. Talking about the names, they are my classmate, school mate, friends in Kuala Lumpur. Tall, short, cute, kid, handsome, pretty, pro, fun, funny and noisy are the adjective describing them.

On don’t know which Friday, I think it’s the 2 Fridays ago, we went to Pavilion together by LRT. We are a bunch of kiam-siap (selfish) people that we parked our car at Taman Bahagia’s housing area because it’s free then walked to Taman Bahagia’s LRT station. Hahaha.

Actually my plan was go walk around Pavilion because it had been quite some time I didn’t go downtown and want to spend times with friends instead of just sitting in room, looking at the computer screen, then one of my subject require us to take photos of retail shop, so went to take photos too and also walk.

What a hot day that we alighted at KLCC station and walked to Pavilion. I actually like Pavilion more than any other mall because of the nice interior design, but not the price of the items and food. =D

You know I did not eat any breakfast that morning and we reached Pavilion around 3pm, really hungry die me that afternoon and we went to food court straight away because food court has the cheapest food? NOT.

    IMG_5090
Lai Quen of Kepong, Connie of Sandakan, Zhi Inn of Muar, Arvin of Medan, Wanyi of Penang and Nita of Penang. It’s so everywhere of us.

Shockingly, Pavilion was quiet in a Friday’s afternoon, it’s so not like Singapore or Hong Kong where people are everywhere in the mall, where are the freaking Malaysian?

Went to check out Uniqlo for a while, sadly there’s no sale and summer season clothing are not here yet, aduhainya. Then we went back after that, by LRT again.
  • Wesley Low at Malaysian Studies of LT6, Taylor’s University

Wesley Low at Malaysian Studies of LT6, Taylor’s University

He is Wesley Low, my classmate, from Seremban and he is a mix Filipino and Chinese. He came to the Lecture Theater 6 or known as LT6 and found out that there’s no lecturer or student inside and he decided to be the lecturer, and give a lecture.

The only student or listener to Wesley’s lecture was Farah Izzati. She did concentrating-ly listened to him.

And another student Steve Pang came, and took photos of Wesley.

Hahaha. Very lame of me. Actually that day was Malaysian Studies class and you know I know everyone dislike Malaysian Studies, it’s not the subject sucks or lecturer sucks, it’s just that it’s a waste of time when we have already study related stuff during high school history and civic education, it’s all about Malaysian history, just that Malaysian Studies is the same stuff convert into English language. It’s just a waste of time, but then we still went. =D

That day was early but in fact almost time but no one was there except us, very weird, perhaps lazy people. Haha.

  • Bak Kut Teh, Random and Bukit Bintang with Arron Lim and Tee Jin

Bak Kut Teh, Random and Bukit Bintang with Arron Lim and Tee Jin

I kinda miss the time back in high school when I update my blog so frequent that friends have become part of my blog content. Haha. I share part of my life in this blog and write about peoples and happenings around me. Sharing is caring, caring is sharing.

Cut the crap and let’s get into the sharing about some random stuff that happened few weeks back in Kuala Lumpur. I went out with Arron and Tee Jin, which both were my classmate 3 years back and thankfully we are still in touch because we are near, one in Sepang (not so near, still nearer than Penang) and one in Kelana Jaya, we meet, occasionally. =D

We went to Bak Kut Teh (sorry not halal a bit) at Klang famous Bak Kut Teh area at night and now only we know that Bak Kut Teh at there don’t really open at night. Haha. We thought that Bak Kut Teh are supposed to be opened at night, till late but we were wrong. Haha. Luckily, there’s still got one opens at night.

After Bak Kut Teh we went to Tropicana City Mall, my favourite place to watch movie because there has GSC and I hate TGV @ Sunway Pyramid a lot, they sucks to the max, expensive die! What a coincident that we met Xiu Xin at there, but he didn’t join us for movie. We watched The King Speech and frankly, it’s boring and I want subtitle. Haha. Hard to listen to English with British accent.

We went elsewhere the next day, it’s a weekend by the way and we met again. Haha. The next day was super random, dinner at Taman Megah that a spontaneous trip to KLCC on the Kelana Jaya LRT, pointless, just go there for fun to take a walk. 3 men. Haha.

As usual, park at Taman Bahagia station because of free parking then we sit LRT train. Haha.

    Test drive at Pavilion. =D

    KFC.

First time checking out BB Park.

You know when coming to Bukit Bintang it’s like going the Middle East because the tourists from Middle East are damn lot and it’s not really nice walking that night because of the warm night weather, really sucks, I prefer staying inside the mall.

    Blue Man

Another thing is I kinda dislike is the five foot path at there is just so dirty. =D

Then we went back home. Hehe. Chien Chern came that day actually and we went to play pool until late midnight.

  • Kuala Lumpur’s Central Market, Petaling Street and Dataran Merdeka with Xiu Xin

Kuala Lumpur’s Central Market, Petaling Street and Dataran Merdeka with Xiu Xin

In the last post, I talk about the Western Market then now I want to talk to something similar here in Malaysia, an art and craft market that is located in central Kuala Lumpur, it’s the Central Market. Haha. With a little curiosity of what’s there, I went to check out the place with a Penang friend, Xiu Xin few weeks back.

    Central Market

He’s Xiu Xin, my high school friend.

Also because of boredness, and don’t feel like staying at home, we went for a walk in town. I am living in Bandar Sunway and I don’t really like it here, I prefer the city, downtown, where there’s more colours and life. Satelite city like these are boring, building are uglys and one more thing, Klang Valley is too big for me. I prefer a small place where everywhere is easily accessible, like my hometown, Penang! Hehe.

We actually took the Kelana Jaya Line LRT and allighted at Pasar Seni, then we walked to Central Market. It’s actually stones throw away from the LRT station.

The building is pretty nice, has some heritage feeling but it’s like crowded with tourists and visitors. It’s another tourist’s attraction in Malaysia, a place targeting tourists mostly, and a minority of locals. We were boring, so we went to check out the place.

Rabbit years for the Chinese! =)

Upon entering the place, you will see many stalls inside selling souvinirs stuff like post card, keychains and more. There’s even a few cafe and restaurant located in there and for sure this place is bigger than Hong Kong’s Western Market that I have visited recently.

I wonder why “whatever” market has to sell arts and crafts and souvinirs stuff, why can’t they sell food? Haha.

Actually there’s nothing much in there. Nothing fancy us, not even the toilet because we need to pay so we didn’t bother to use the toilet. Just walk a round, take some photos, then we were off to somewhere else.

Any nice thing to recommend at Central Market? =)

    Petaling Street

Actually I was not very sure what our trip that day was about. It was just simply walking around the town, talking with Xiu Xin and check out the area. Places came in spontaneously. After checking out Central Market, we went to walk around Petaling Street, the so called Chinatown for Kuala Lumpur. Actually the whole Malaysia is a Chinatown already. Haha.

Xiu Xin actually didn’t really come to this place for a long time, so I brought him around the place. The last time I went was to check out a basketball competition in town. =D

Despite all these signage saying no pirated and imitation products, but they are still everywhere on Petaling Street.

Loong Kee’s bakgua is awesome. Hehe.

Randomly found a Chinese temple. LIKES!

    Merdeka Square / Dataran Merdeka

Next up we continue walking, from Petaling Street to don’t know where. Then we saw signs pointing a side to Dataran Merdeka, also known as Merdeka Square, so we walked to that direction.

Well, this is quite new to me. I only passed by the area in car but never really walk by this place, so it’s quite fun and exciting. Luckily the weather that day was not that sunny, a little bit warm, a little bit of perspiration breaking out from the body, but it still good.

This place is actually where the father of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman announced the Independence of Malaysia. Notice the brick building on the right, it’s one of the famous building in Malaysia, it’s Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

Well, after that, there’s no more. We went back, but actually we went to KLCC to look for some stuff only go back to the LRT station where we came from.

The Masjid Jamek Station is the interchange between two lines, Kelana Jaya and Ampang Line but very sucks is that they have to walk across the street to change line. What a lousy Malaysian public transportation.

Justin Timberlake?! What the hell and notice UIA is actually stands for International Islamic University. LOL.

Above are some extra photos taken while walking to the LRT station. Seriously, I don’t even know how we get there. If were to ask us to go back to Pasar Seni LRT, I think we couldn’t make it, cause we had forgotten the path. Haha.

  • Hueisean and Friends at Kek Lok Si Temple

Hueisean and Friends at Kek Lok Si Temple

Last year, I went to photoshoot at Kek Lok Si temple twice, one with the Leo gang another time with Alvin because there’s not much time on the first visit so we planned a second visit to do some serious photoshooting of the famous Kek Lok Si pagoda and temple in Penang.

The reason of us shooting the Kek Lok Si temple during Chinese New Year is because that the whole thing light up nicely with decorations during that period.

This year, I didn’t have the feeling to do same thing because I did that last year already. I have already shoot most of the thing at Kek Lok Si temple, except a whole Kek Lok Si view which have to be taken far away from the temple.

Although have already did photoshoot last year, but I still visit to the temple this year because of the beatifulness and awesomeness.

What’s different here this year is I went up with Hueisean and her friends. Who is Hueisean? She’s my girlfriend. Oh yeah. Haha. So in the series of photos below, you will see a lot of gorgeous photos of her. =D She has become my subject of photography lately, a free model. =D

Why not? She’s cute, she’s pretty, has a youthful, cheerful look.

I went there like 3 days before the end of Chinese New Year and still the road up Kek Lok Si as usual jam during that time. Kek Lok Si temple has the most visitor during Chinese New Year of all of others time of the year. Everyone come to Penang goes there, Everyone who is from Penang goes there. It’s a must visit spot during Chinese New Year.

    Yonye on the camera.

People pray but I see most people were up there just to join the fun, and also take photograph.

This year had some special case happened at the temple as one kid like 18/19 years old hit an old lady while reversing his car. Without apologizing or checking out how’s that old lady was, he scolded and shouted at the family of the old lady. Someone took the video of the happenings and posted on Youtube and Chinese newspaper reported about it. Damn, why youth today so no manners one.

    Minvoon on the right.

    Zuen with a messy hair.

    Kwangliang with the camera.

Chiawen, Szugeng, Weiling, Zuen, Hueisean, Minvoon and Cymin.

    Weiling on the right.

Oh my instax. Any idea where have cheap instax mini film?

Photos photos all night long and the breeze up there were kinda nice because it’s after a rainy day. So if you have a chance to visit Penang, do check out this place. =)
