  • Video: A Day In Interior Behaviour Study Class

    [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI6gg18IX1A&w=640&h=390]

It’s a very random short clip about the IBS class that I attend every Thursday. It’s a 4 hours studio-style class with lots of tutorial and awesome lecture, Mr Foo Cherch Kang. =D

  • Site Visit To Tune Studio At Klang

Site Visit To Tune Studio At Klang

Recently just been to a site visit with the Interior Behaviour Study class people to the Tune Studio at Klang. It’s kinda new and my lecturer told us the interior design of the studio is pretty cool so we went to check it out. One thing I dislike about the school is they are charging us RM10 per trip for a return bus fare which increased RM5 from the previous RM5 fare.

What the hell are they bus company doing to the school. It’s just not reasonable, not relevant also. Sucks.

Forget about it and let’s talk about Tune Studio. This is actually a music production studio that available to rent for people who want to make their own music or jam at there and it’s pretty new.

Located in the also quite new Harbour Place Mall in Klang on the 2nd floor, it’s not open to public yet. I am so glad that I am some first visit to the place, not to record a CD but to check out the interior design and stuff.

The journey from Taylor’s University to Tune Studio was like about 25-30 minutes. We had a tour guide that day and she’s Veronica, head of marketing for the Tune Studio too. It’s nice to have a tour guide but I prefer moving around the place myself. Lighting was pretty dim so it’s pretty hard to take a good shot, I need ISO 320o or ISO 6400 now! Haha.

I think it’s pretty cool. Musical instrument are available during rental and so bad that I couldn’t play any music. I would like to learn to play guitar and piano. It’s seems so cool and so fun to play. Will it be hard to learn? =)

I feel it’s quite a nice place to take photo, if I have a wider lens and wider aperture one, then it would be awesome. =D Daddy please buy me a new camera. *finger cross*

    MJ sketching the place.

    Nice map on wall.

    Group shot.

Spent about an hour plus inside then back to school. The place is quite small, but I feel it’s awesome. The design uses more on wood material which gives a warm feeling and cosy too. Nice.

  • Walking Around Level 4 of Taylor’s University Library

Walking Around Level 4 of Taylor’s University Library

I was doing some group discussion on an assignment in the library for few hours then I got bored. It’s not nice to stick an ass on the chair for few hours without moving around. Because of boredness, I took out my little handy Panasonic Lumix LX5 to go shoot around. I guess I’ll let the photos speak for now.

It was evening time, nearing to sunset and there’s still many people in the library. Library is always a very cold place with very low temperature, moving around could warm me up a little bit too.

I think the best part of Taylor’s University is the resources archive, the library because it has a very big collection of books for me to do reference. There’s no way that I can afford those design’s reference book.

Another thing is I like the Internet, spending time in the library downloading huge files with the blazing fast Internet. =D Yum yum.

And I’m writing this post from the library. =)

  • Overnight at Taylor’s Study Room 24/7 for IBS Project

Overnight at Taylor’s Study Room 24/7 for IBS Project

Wesley Low and Low Jia Hui.

Till now, I still haven’t try not sleeping for whole night and continue work for another day. Seriously, the minimum hour I slept in my life is 30 minutes, which is 2 days ago. =D But the feeling and the fun of doing the work together till late was fun, for that day only.

Kevin To of Vietnam. Blur look.

Interior Behaviour Study and Malaysian Studies, two project due at the same time and our last minute worms in our body made us stayed up in the campus’ 24/7 study room for the whole night, accompany by cold air-con, Internet, Red Bull, quietness and sleepyness.

    Wanyi and Steve.

I was there from 7pm until 730am the next morning, oh yeah. Cutting, writing, pasting, modelling, idea-ing, that’s what I did.

People told me that Red Bull can help us stay awake and it’s indeed true, and the drinks is delicious too, but it’s only functioned for about 2-3 hours for me. Haha. I still felt tired and sleepy after having one in the midnight. Food from the vending machine accompanied me too.

Arvin in the background, looking sleepy.

By the time I went back home to freshen up, it’s 7.00am where sun was already rising. I took a short sleep for half an hour then I went back to school for lecture and presentation.

    P1050946

The road started to jam early in the morning, now I only knew about that as I thought that road was supposed to be smooth in the morning. Haha.

=) Work of Arvin, Kevin and Nicholas.

    P1050950

    P1050954

    P1050956

Later that morning, I had two presentation, one for Malaysian Studies and another for Interior Behaviour Studies, did good, and still power. But my battery went low in the afternoon went I lied on the bed, straight away slept till night and felt reborn after that. Haha.

I personally feel that works and assignments are good because I paid a big amount to study, I don’t want to pay for nothing. =) But not too over assignments, lah. Haha.

  • Wesley Low at Malaysian Studies of LT6, Taylor’s University

Wesley Low at Malaysian Studies of LT6, Taylor’s University

He is Wesley Low, my classmate, from Seremban and he is a mix Filipino and Chinese. He came to the Lecture Theater 6 or known as LT6 and found out that there’s no lecturer or student inside and he decided to be the lecturer, and give a lecture.

The only student or listener to Wesley’s lecture was Farah Izzati. She did concentrating-ly listened to him.

And another student Steve Pang came, and took photos of Wesley.

Hahaha. Very lame of me. Actually that day was Malaysian Studies class and you know I know everyone dislike Malaysian Studies, it’s not the subject sucks or lecturer sucks, it’s just that it’s a waste of time when we have already study related stuff during high school history and civic education, it’s all about Malaysian history, just that Malaysian Studies is the same stuff convert into English language. It’s just a waste of time, but then we still went. =D

That day was early but in fact almost time but no one was there except us, very weird, perhaps lazy people. Haha.

  • Taylor’s BARIO Leave A Mark Charity Event

Taylor’s BARIO Leave A Mark Charity Event

The BARIO Project at Taylor’s University is a charity project that is about providing education to poor children in Sabah. Recently they have a charity event call “Leave A Mark” where you can leave a mark then do donation to the project. I passed by the event area in campus and with curiosity, I went to check it out. Haha.

It’s nice to see charity stuff around Taylor’s. I took part in the Leave A Mark thing. It’s actually stamping your palm on a cloth, letting the children know that we know about their existence and care for them. =)

This thing is organized by the International Student group and best part of all is that they give free Ribena. Really quenched my thirst that noon.

But of course, I did make some donation as well and help them reach the target of palm stamping.

    First you pick a hand.

Then y0u pick a colour. Sorry, black was fully stamped and it’s yellow left.

    Mellysa and Wanyi.

Then you be ready to stamp.

Helper were very kind to help you to stamp.

And I left a mark, somewhere on the left. =)

  • An Interior Behaviour Study Class

    An Interior Behaviour Study Class

Another day in uni which is the just recent Thursday. =D Design course is not exam-oriented, it’s not about memorizing but it’s more on concept and thinking. Ah! Everyday, I think think think and think to do assignent, which is quite tiring to me, but somehow fun after getting outcome.

Sometimes, I thought, why not just give me exam and take away all the assignment because high school time was all about exam instead of assignment. Exam are easy IMO, it’s just study and memorizing. Haha. But assignment is always about thinking and enhancing the work to perfect.

Interior Behaviour Study is one of the subject I’ve got for this semester. It’s about study on the relationship of human behaviour with interior design. It’s theory again, but the there’s more hands-on work than reading. =(

CK and Arowa from Saudi Arabia.

And my lecturer CK is a perfectionist, so work always get rejected and I always thinking hard on how to do well on the project. Well, it’s OK, I can’t complain that much, yet it’s pretty tiring I feel. Current project is about designing a social place on existing Taylor’s site in-related to the human needs at that site. I think you probably don’t know what am I talk about, cut the crap. Haha.

Tell you something, Indonesian really love BlackBerry a lot. I have no idea why. You can see people with BlackBerry in Taylor’s are mostly Indonesian and they always BBM nonstop. Haa.

Farah, Jia Hui, Steve and Wesley. =D

It’s another day in class and the day was a tutorial on the on-going project we are doing right now. Worksome, and not-awesome. One thing not nice about the class is it’s 4 hours straight with no meal break. So I need to prepare myself a small packet of cookies to eat in class.

LOL. NA from Vincent of Vietnam.

    Aseel look so EMO.

    Hyper Aida.

Shy shy Wanyi from Penang, Nita and Mellysa from Medan. =D Really International class. Haha.

The fun about being in a small class is that you get close attention and the not-fun is you don’t get to meet new person throughout the course, unless you walk upfront to student of other courses.

And the nice thing about studying in Taylor’s is you meet people of different places. Sweet. =D

    Kevin!

English, Mandarin, Hokkien and Malay are the medium of conversation in class. Haha. Multi-languages class. Nice to know that Medan’s Hokkien is almost identical to Penang Hokkien, just unfortunately there’s no people speaking the KL’s local Cantonese dialect which I use to speak to my family.

Vain Wesley from Seremban and Kevin from Vietnam.

    Act cool Arvin of Medan.

Ah! I need to catch up with my assignment already. =X Any idea on creating a new interacting spaces on a walkway? Haha.

  • My Dorm Workspace / Workstation In Kuala Lumpur

My Dorm Workspace / Workstation In Kuala Lumpur

    IMG_4951

Studying in a not-so-faraway land in Kuala Lumpur, I rent a room here, instead of living in the university hostel. Well you know the hostel at Taylor’s University is currently priced at RM86o per month, SUCKS and I am currently paying RM550 per month with nice owner. I recommend you rent a room if you are coming to study at Taylor’s, seriously, there’s plenty of them.

    IMG_4949

Well, I like to tidy my workspace, I like a clean workspace, a minimalist one, but this will become maximalist after a few days when tons of assignments crash on the table. Haha. Just cleaned my room today and here I want to share my simple workspace. Instead of having dual screen like what I had in Penang, I have only one, and the other one is still in Penang because I don’t want my room look empty at home.

    IMG_4957

The mini table on the left is the table provided by the owner which I think it’s pretty lousy and useless because of the smallness. I can’t even place a drawing board and laptop at the same time. Then I added the cheap Ikea table at about RM110. Nice and big and cheap.

I re-edited my plain wall just now with the sticky notes that my lovely girlfriend wrote for me. =D I want to look for some wall decal art to paste it since I am not allowed to paint the wall. Any recommendation of places that sell cheap wall art decal?

    IMG_4965

Share with me your workspace/workstation of your dorm, your bedroom, your office or whatever place your work with. =)

  • A Day In Building Construction Class

A Day In Building Construction Class

Just some random posting of my photos which dated 2 weeks back. Haha. Why, why, why, I am so lagging behind? You know, I had so much time during high school, everyday is just like a holiday, but then when comes to college, everything changed, holiday has become assignment day.

Currently in semester 2 of Interior Design course and it’s getting more and more hectic with assignment. The busy-ness is OK, I can’t complain anything because if there’s no work or too free, I felt it’s not worth after paying so much for the studies. Hehe.

Building Construction is not really a design class, it’s about, err, buidling construction, the method, the framework, force and stuff. Not so detail because I am not in engineering or architecture, it’s just some light touches on the topic. =)

Recently was busying making the plane construction which is making a surface out of paper which can support load up to 2kg.

Man in black is the lecturer, pretty funny and friendly lecturer.

    Vincent from Vietnam.

Building Construction class is long, from 1pm to 5pm, a 4-hours straight class, nonstop but usually finished an hour earlier. Haha.

Studying in a small class course isn’t like going to the big lecture theater just to listen to the lecture, every of our courses are in a little class which get to interact two-way with the lecturer, just like what was back in the high school. I think this is pretty fun.

The prototype of the plane construction with Jia Hui in background.

Educational video about force. =D I think video is a very good learning method. Interesting.

No, this is not a building construction material, it’s just my lunch of that day. Haha.

Hello! Wish Japan can get well soon. =)

  • Random x Taylor’s Life in 2011

    Random x Taylor’s Life in 2011

Hello guys. It seems like everytime I will start up my post with, “Sorry for not blogging lately and blablabla”. Haha. I am so slow and so out of blogging right now. One thing I want to say is I am not quitting my blog, I love this space, a space for me to share whenever I want, my photos, my life and everything. Just that the enthusiasm isn’t as strong as last time already. Lots of study stuff to do, interaction issues, play, girlfriend, friends and family.

Anyway, I still gonna get this blog updating and keep nickchan.net on the net and Google search. =)

Rasyid bought a new camera and shooting at the cake brought by Arvin from Indonesia.

Since I am writing a post again, I want to give a shout out there, to those Chung Ling High School friends, old friends that haven’t meet for quite a long time, how are you guys? Hope you guys are doing good, so do I.

The guy in blue is Rasyid, one of the first few person I met when I came to Taylor’s last year.

Well, I am just gonna post something random, photos taken weeks ago at here about uni life in city of Kuala Lumpur.

The very famous Farah. Haha. I don’t wanna talk about the famous-ness here. Lalala.

So, it’s a new semester, moved into the second semester of the course and everything is getting on track, and assignment and homework are getting heavier and harder and more sleepless night coming ahead. I think reorganize and rethink my way of study, I think study shouldn’t be hard and suffering, it should be fun. Study smart?

Hello Anastasia! People always just don’t know where her home country is, Belarus, the one between Poland and Russia.

I believe in college and university, there’s always a lecturer that’s very picky, troublesome and perfectionist, which makes work harder. Everyone hates, dislikes or better saying, uncomfortable with him, but I believe he is bringing something good to us. Hopefully he will turn me into a good designer. Do you have a lecturer that’s gives you many troublesome task?

The over high self-confidence MJ from Iran which having a Bieber Fever right now.

“Don’t be sad or angry if your design/idea get rejected because in the real world, it’s a very common stuff, people only pick one for the end product, and afterall, it’s still your design.” Pretty cool huh?

    Vincent from Vietnam

In uni, I learned to swear in Vietnamese, “Dit mei mai” something something, which I don’t want to tell you what it means, because I am unsure about it. Haha. I know it’s “Dit” something. Haha. One good thing about coming over here to study is I met people from different places, both local and International. It’s quite a good experience knowing people from everywhere.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are my study days. That’s all, yet assignment and work filled my weekend. Time management is really an important thing at this time, I am very poor in managing time and hopefully someone can guide me through it. Hehe. So tomorrow I’ll be having class from 10-12. That’s all, but then work. Aduhainya.

Ok, chao! Happy college and university-ing. By the way, Taylor’s has a nice homemade ice cream stall at V Cafe. Yum yum.
