Afternoon Lunch At Kim Gary With Friends

Afternoon Lunch At Kim Gary With Friends – Back to KL, different lifestyle back here, no more heritage seeing, cycling, sunset/sunrise searching and street food, life in the city is always shopping mall, driving, restaurants and that’s it. Different place, different style of life.

Afternoon Lunch At Kim Gary With Friends

So, Sunday went to where? Went to Ikea, went to eat Kim Gary at The Curve – the kidnap mall with friends from, err, everywhere, Connie from Sandakan? Henry from Johor Bahru? Arvin Medan, Indonesia? Only Laiquen, the only KL local. Haha.

Super crowded at Ikea and The Curve and spent almost half of our afternoon in Kim Gary Restaurant. It’d been ages since I’ve visited Kim Gary Restaurant. Last time I used to visit it all the time when I was in Penang, but now very seldom already.

After eating until so full, we went Ikea for a while. I think there’s more people shopping in Ikea than at Tesco at that time. I’m starting to get bored of Ikea already because I’ve been there for so many time and I know where is what and the price. Haha. Although it’s boring, I still bought stuff, some storage box and a Golden Gate Bridge poster (will share other time when my room is clean XD). Well, I am waiting for a new term of Ikea catalogue (2013), guess soon already?

Anyway, check out the food we had today, not reviewing, just some food p0rn for you. =)

Do Project Until Party In Taylor's University Studio

Do Project Until Party In Taylor’s University Studio – As the title said, we was working on a design project in the school’s studio, then it turned up to be a mini pizza party. Haha. It was 3 weeks ago where I was working on a Architecture History project with my teammate – Steve, Wesley, Jia Hui and Arvin from early morning until night.

Do Project Until Party In Taylor's University Studio

You know, when you are working on the same thing for a long period of time, your mind will tend to become slow or stunned. It’s at some point that work productivity rate is so low that you can think of anything or proceed.

Do Project Until Party In Taylor's University Studio

That time was dinner time and we ordered Pizza Hut Delivery as we were lazy to go out to buy food. It’s weekend and there’s not much food choices in the campus. It took me quite some times to successfully ordered my delivery online as now only I know that Pizza Hut Delivery is the new thing, it’s different from the old 1300-88-2525. The menu is different from dine-in too.

Do Project Until Party In Taylor's University Studio

As we went to collect the pizza, we saw unwanted balloon from an event that has just ended. Instead of disposing, we just took it back to studio to add in some party feel for us to S.S. (Shiok Sendiri).

Do Project Until Party In Taylor's University Studio

4 regular pizzas, 25 slices, 5 people, we finished it in less than 20 minutes. We were just too hungry. It was crazy, fun, but we completed our work after that.

Arvin, Jia Hui, me, Wesley, Steve.

One more week of holiday to go! It’s so short and not enough for me. Arghh.

Poster, Steamboat & Beach Street For Arron & Chien Chern

Poster, Steamboat & Beach Street For Arron & Chien Chern – The two familiar name – Arron & Chien Chern once again appeared on my blog. Haha. Arron & Chien Chern, both are my best buddy who are flying off soon, one to India and another to Liverpool, UK. Main subject of the post is Arron as he is flying off real soon and secondly, we just celebrated Chien Chern’s birthday, last night on Beach Street – very randomly.

I don’t know where to start with. Two days ago, I went to PIK NIK CAFE to meet up with Arron, Simon, Chien Chern, Raykee and Liang Sun to give out a big piece of poster as a memory for him as he is going off to India for further studies. What’s worst with India is he has to be there for the next 5 years. WOW. Ok, so I printed a collage photos of him for him. (I want to complain that printing in Penang is freaking expensive! KL is 60% cheaper for the same size. SUCKS.)

Then yesterday, we went to steamboat get-together at the Town Steamboat House, which we used to get-together a few years back. Price has increased from RM19.90 to RM22.90. Soup taste is getting lousier, it’s not as fun as before and it was oily hot!

After steamboat, Beach Street was our next destination. Chilling out at Logan Cruise Steak House with in-house special beverage. At 12am, we just sang birthday song and talk crap by the road side. So, farewell Arron, and Chien Chern and all. It seems like many people are going elsewhere, and I’m gonna stay here in Malaysia. Do you think Malaysia is a good place to live in the next 1o years? I have to consider that after this coming general election.

  • Set Lunch At Salsas Restaurant, Penang Road

Set Lunch At Salsas Restaurant, Penang Road

Set Lunch At Salsas Restaurant, Penang Road – I’ve so many food to blog about and now I’ve the time to write them up all on my blog. Some are dated back to last year. Haha. Forget about the date, forget about time, let’s indulge with some food pr0n, shall we?

In the finally weeks of December 2011, I went to meet up a good friend, Yiphing, together with other buddies for lunch at Salsas Restaurant, Penang Road. It’d been some times that we did not come out, sit down and eat. Everyone has their own business now.

Yiphing suggested Salsas Restaurant for our meet up lunch as she’s working as an intern at that area. I guess this was my second time eating out at Salsas Restaurant as the first time was long ago when Salsas was still at Kelawai Road.

Salsas Restaurant serves western food and they have a variety of set meal to pick for lunch. The price of set lunch starts from RM13.90+. Well, I picked a set meal that costs RM15.50+ and that’s a Baked Penne Pasta as a main course.

Each set meal comes with a starter of soup or salad, a main course, a desserts and a drinks.

    This is Yiphing.

Starter – Mushroom Soup with Toasted Bun.

    Starter 2 – Healthy Salad.

Main Course – Baked Penne Pasta in cream sauce with shredded chicken ham, mushroom and cheese.

Main course 2 – Grilled chicken breast with mushroom cream, served with fresh vegetables and potatoes.

Desserts – Vanilla ice cream and a piece of cake.

Overall, I find the food at there is not bad and kinda affordable. The place is crowded with office workers around that area during lunch. The desserts was just normal in my opinion.

Salsas Restaurant is located in Continental Hotel.

No 5, Penang Road, 10000 Penang, Malaysia.

  • Cibai Vagina Warriors & Stop LYNAS

Cibai Vagina Warriors & Stop LYNAS

Cibai Vagina Warriors & Stop LYNAS – Are you feeling funny with the title of this post? I also feel very funny when I read it but Vagina Warriors is real. It’s actually a stage play by a performing arts society call Neigbourhood in Penang. I just went to see the 90 minutes drama at the Penang PAC (Performing Arts Centre of Penang) at Straits Quay just now and it’s awesome, funny and it’s a good show after all.

How I came across this was reading on the newspaper where the title Vagina Warriors caught my attention. Its description asked why a exit of life will turn into a vulgar word by the people – Cibai? It sounded interesting and since I’ve been wanting to go catch a show at Penang PAC, finally I’ve got a chance. Ticket was RM18/student when group purchase of 5 and normal tics at RM30, normal student ticket at RM23.

The Vagina Warriors is a show that talks about vagina, the genital of woman. It introduces and explains more about it which focus on topic like menstruation, the clitoris, facts about rape, giving birth and more. It’s like a documentary drama with jokes. Well, it’s something embarrass to talk about, but after watching the show, I understand more about it. One funny part is when the actress asked the spectators to shout “CIBAI”, super duper funny.

After all, it’s educational and it’s a good show. Nothing dirty about it.

The hall is so much smaller than KLPAC, but it’s cool!

One thing that we spotted at Penang PAC is that the Neighborhood Performance Group set up a little corner of “Says No To LYNAS”. Well, I also want to say no to LYNAS because it’s bad for human health in the east coast of Malaysia. A little bit information about LYNAS that it’s a factory that will be set up at Pahang, which this factory will dispose toxic and high radio activity waste substances that are harmful to human health. There will be an Anti-LYNAS rally (Himpunan Hijau 2.0) in Kuantan this Sunday, please support and together, anti-LYNAS.

Learn more about LYNAS through the video below:

  • Friends Get-Together At Chien Chern’s Place

Friends Get-Together At Chien Chern’s Place

#1: Johnny Teh Zheng Feng! Long time no see, football pro, good singing voice, always work on math question. =D

Friends Get-Together At Chien Chern’s Place – When everyone goes to college, it’s hard to meet up, crap, talk, do stupid together like we used to be during high school because we were always together in the same classroom for the whole year. I am now back to Penang for holiday which I am enjoying every bit moment of it. Trying to utilize the nice holiday properly.

Recently, a group of boys, went to Chien Chern’s place for a little steamboat gathering.

#2: Alvin, my best friend since form 1 who I influenced to start a blog – alvinyang.net. Ignore his lame pose.

#3: Boy chefs. LOL. Alvin, Raykee, Arron and Simon.

Everyone was kinda surprised, wonder why there’s no girls. Not even Chien Chern’s pet dog is a girl. So it’s all-boys night. HAHA. Although some said boys is a better cook, somehow the night’s steamboat was luan luan lai (made it simply), however turn out full and not that bad too.

Well, I let the picture speaks in this post. Enjoy and happy Monday!

#4: Zez Chien, my classmate when I was 16, 4 years ago. =D

#5: Chien Chern, the crazy one who I always mix with during high school.

#6: Now you see his face.

#7: Arron, also the crazy one and I give him a title of “Great Story Teller”. He just so nice to talk with.

#8: Working out on the steamboat, just ignore my face. =D

#9: One of the entertainment, arm wrestling. Just one round.

#10: What the … ?! I have no idea why we were posing for the 1Malaysia. Hmm. Seriously, election is coming soon, this year, think properly who to vote. =D Anwar just freed from Sodomy charge while I am writing this post.

    #11: Group photo.

#12: Ignore Alvin. Alright, there’s still 1Malaysia on the right.

#13: Arron, Tee Jin, Raykee, Chien Chern and me.

    That’s it, 9 batangs get-together at a batang’s house. HAHA

  • Hike Penang Hill And Ride Rapid Penang Back

Hike Penang Hill And Ride Rapid Penang Back

Hike Penang Hill And Ride Rapid Penang Back
    #1. Random faces.

Hike Penang Hill And Ride Rapid Penang Back – 8 guys, including me, previously from Penang’s famous boys school, Chung Ling High School went for a hike from Botanical Garden to Penang Hill.

Oh man! It’d been some times that I did not hike the 800+m vertical height Penang Hill for some times. The last time was like, 2 years back? It’s not easy for us, HAHA, it took us for 2 hour plus, almost 2 and a half hours to reach the top which avid hikers normally take one an a half hour non stop or some pro run up for like 45 minutes. Those who run up the slope are really crazy.

    #2: Random faces two.

I think it’s quite reasonable for us to take such a long time up because we were having our sweet time up, talking, joking and laughing all the way. Now I rethink whether I can climb the Mount Kinabalu at Sabah or not. HAHA. It needs great stamina.

#3: Top of the hill with many tourists. Woohoo. Actually Penang Hill got nothing one lo, what do you think?

Finally reached the top of Penang Hill at 10 something where we started at 8 something. Felt very happy when we reached the top as I know I do not need to suffer any more. LOL. I must train more already.

    #4: Not good fried rice.

Went to eat fried rice at the hawker stalls area for brunch and chit chat at there. Frankly, the fried rice sell by the Chinese seller was not that rice. I prefer the Malay stall at the end of the hawker stalls area. One plate of this egg fried rice without prawn cost RM4.50. WOW. Now only I know that you can’t order food from other stall at the table we sit because different stall manages different table.

#5: Is me, playing with the phone I guess.

    #6: Yan Chien Chern.

    #7: Arron Lim.

#8: Me (look like a kid), Merritt, Xiang Foong, Yong Fu, Chien Chern.

#9: Chien Chern again, Alvin, me and Arron.

#1o: The bushes which block the view of Penang city.

#11: Clearer view of George Town, awesome!

I feel Penang Hill is quite a relaxing place because when there’s wind blows up there, it feels very chilly and cool and at the same time can enjoy the beautiful view of Penang.

#12: David Brown’s Sky Terrace. Expensive restaurant! Hmm.

We bought the tram ticket at RM4 per student price person and then we went down of Penang Hill. So nice that there’s no long queue like the Hong Kong tram that I went recently and I feel the tram service in Penang is very world class one. Haha.

    #13: The gang.

    #14: Road.

#15: Road in front of Chung Ling High School.

    #16: My high school!

We wanted to take the Rapid Penang public bus back home but then we didn’t see any bus passes Penang Hill area, then we walked directly to the place where more Rapid Penang buses pass by and that’s Shang Wu Primary, pass Chung Ling High School and it’s like 3km away. Very power, because call the way we didn’t see any bus also, I wonder where all the buses gone when we were walking.

    #17: In Rapid Penang bus.

#18: At the bus interchange station, Komtar.

It’s been so long that I did not take the Rapid Penang bus too. Still the same, getting more people in the bus but not as much as in other big city. No upgrade or improvement I can see yet. I wonder when they will implement Touch N’ Go system and introduce double decker buses.  Hmm.

  • Good Morning My Penang Friends

    Good Morning My Penang Friends

    Good Morning My Penang Friends

Good Morning My Penang Friends – It’d been a while that I didn’t meet up with them, the friends that I used to mix with before I go to college last year, they are the people that I have been together for the 3 months holiday after high school a year ago.

Now, I am back for holiday and it’s time to meet up and talk and eat and crap!

It was a Sunday morning, woke up early and went to breakfast at Jelutong. There were Yiphing, Arron, Zez Chien and Chai Wei.

Talk, eat and it’s nice seeing them again! By the way, have you tried before the famous Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee at Perak Road Market? That’s our breakfast for the day.

  • A Week In Taylor’s University #1

    A Week In Taylor's University #1
#1: On the other side of the man-made lake.

A Week In Taylor’s University #1 – Hello people, it’s another new week again, how are you guys? I am starting something new called “A Week In Taylor’s University #” which is actually blog post full of photos that I’ve captured over the week. I compiled them up and I blog it up in a shot. One long post of all the photos of the week. It would be easier and you won’t be seeing similar thing everyday. =D

#2: Lazy dog lying at staff’s carpark.

Of course it’s not my first week in Taylor’s University, it’d been I-don’t-know-how-many-weeks. Well, if you ask me about the experience in this campus, it would be good and bad, I love the beautiful campus, however, I kinda dislike the way they administrate the school. It’s a little big too money-centric which I certainly hates.

Another thing is the syllabus for Diploma In Interior Design isn’t that great after all. OMG. I did learn something, but I also did learn something not really interesting, or related to design, it could be said as not practical with future work.

#3: Hate to see the Autopay sign where it reminds you to pay.

    #4: Cloud overcasting the sky.

Blablabla. If I were to rants about it, it would be a bloody long post but I don’t want to. Haha. It’d been raining quite a lot last week. The sky was scattered with clouds all the time, and I kept afraid of raining down because I have to walk to the carpark to fetch my car. There’s no covered walkway. It’s just so stupid. Haha.

#5: iPhone games are just everywhere in school.

#6: Kevin To in the background.

Studies was OK, just a little bit stress and worried on assignments. Because all in the mind was getting a good result, which results in a pushing myself too much. Sometimes, I told myself to take a break, sometimes, I told myself to push. What a funny me.

    #7: Wanyi’s drinking water.

#8: A dark and cloudy day.

Well, do you like it when a lecturer tell you that the class is canceled, or no class for the day? It sure sounds good and fun, however at the same time felt pain in the ass, because every lesson is money. $$ You might be thinking I am being money face, yes money is very important, yet tuition fees is expensive. Haha. How wish the tuition fee could be lower, even if it’s lower, I need to be convinced that the fee worth it, but till now, I am not convinced yet. Hmm. What do you think?

Truth is, I think I’ve picked the wrong school? Perhaps, but thing has been done, decision has been made, so I have to go with the flows. Hoping that I will be convinced one day.

#9: Lecturer was playing a video for us to see.

#10: Had Moral Education mid-term exam which was pretty fun and easy.

    #11: The Kebab Stall.

#12: Working on the kebab, smells delicious, priced expensive at RM8 per kebab sandwich.

Spent quite a lot of time recently in campus because of group work for the assignments and projects. The thing that I like about the school is having a good facilities where we can work out on projects during free time.

#13: Workers painting the outdoor table. Good job,

#14: Wesley’s acting cute and Jia Hui was concentrating with the music on the iPhone.

#15: Some Sony Walkman event in the campus.

#16: Delicious mamak-style fried rice at Star Teh Tarik for only RM4.

And there’s many food and beverage outlets which are pretty cool. I like Star Teh Tarik, a mamak store in the campus which is my favourite dining place because of the low price. HAHAHA. Not forget to mention, the food is good in taste too.

#17: In a classroom overlooking the mad-made lake. Looking ugly at the end where the open air rocky road carpark is.

    #18: Some entertainment in class.

    #19: iPad gaming in class.

#20: More iPad user in action.

#21: 1:1 sculpture by the architecture students.

    #22: Farah’s smilling to Wesley.

#23: Security guard looking at the lake, relaxing.

#24: The 3 beautiful academic blocks. Too bad, there’s only 3 of them. The word “UNI” at the roof looks weird.

#25: The lake with an ugly end.

#26: Fire hydrant by the lake. Was playing with my Sigma f1.4 30mm lens.

    #27: Another unfavorable sign.

#28: FREE parking is always uber far away.

Well, let’s see how this week will be to me. Super duper looking forward to the Apple event tomorrow and also the Nine Emperors God Festival on Wednesday. =) Do you like your college?
