Klang Valley: Grafa Cafe, A Hipsy Bicycle Cafe

Klang Valley: Grafa Cafe, A Hipsy Bicycle Cafe – Recently just found out a cool artsy & hipsy cafe at Subang Jaya and it’s called the Grafa Cafe. Located in the heart of SS15, the cafe welcomes you with a artsy futsy retail store in front where you can find arts stuff, t-shirts, bike gear and more. Afterall, it’s a cafe with a bicycle themed.

Selling food from local style seafood nasi goreng (fried rice) to pasta, Coney Hotdog and sandwiches, this is a cafe of fusion food between the east and the west. The cafe itself is simple and nice, with wide varieties of food and I must mention this – the food portion is huge for pasta and nasi goreng!
    Coney Dog.
    Spaghetti Carbonara with Meatballs.
    Nasi Goreng Sotong.
Taste wise? Well, it’s not really reach my liking for the Meatball Spaghetti Carbonara (RM20). Thea carbonara cream sauce is good, but not the meatball. On the other hand, the Coney Dog was nice with lots of minced meat topping on the hotdog.
Gary, Jason, Henry, Hwa Jie, Quenna, & Connie. =D
It seems to be a nice place to hangout, with big food portions, but kinda pricey and I am not going to order the Spaghetti Carbonara again. Haha. Would I come again? This is like some place that I would only go once, unless friends invited me there for a meal, maybe?

  • Lai Quen & Si Yi’s Birthday @ Tokyo Kitchen

Lai Quen & Si Yi’s Birthday @ Tokyo Kitchen

Lai Quen & Si Yi’s Birthday @ Tokyo Kitchen – I getting to like work day because I seems to have more gathering during work time than during uni time where uni time is all filled with assignments. HAHA. Somehow, I still prefer study than work lah. XD So, yesterday after work I went to Kota Damansara again, this time to try out another restaurant – Tokyo Kitchen.
The interior design, pretty interesting. Sad didn’t get to sit in.
The Yee Sang! Doesn’t taste food, but the salmon was very thick cut!!!!! Thumbs up for the salmon.
All interior designers here! Hou geng ah.
    Lou lou lou.
    He is Jason. =D
    He is Henry.
    Buddy, Arvin!
Well, it’s a gathering, it’s a Pre-Chinese New Year dinner celebration, it’s a new restaurant exploration and main thing, birthday celebration for Lai Quen & Si Yi. =) It might seems to be a normal dinner for 2 birthday girls, but it turned up with birthday songs and birthday cake, filled with laughter, sweet smiles and happiness.
    Oh yummeh fruit cake!
Sweet ladies – Connie, Quenna, Si Yi, Hooi Pheng.
    Birthday girls! Qunna & Siyi.
How about the food? Tokyo Kitchen is a nice restaurant located in Sunway Giza with very homey interior decoration, unfortunately we didn’t get to sit inside as it was full. Price of food starts from RM15 and above and overall presentation looks good. I ordered myself a set of Chicken Teriyaki & Udon Set for RM26.90+. It does seems good with such price as you get a rice and noodle, but then taste wise I felt it’s not as good as Miraku or Edo Ichi, nor Sushi Zanmai.
    Salmon Sashimi Set.
Ooops, forgotten to ask about the name.
My friend ordered Salmon Sashimi Set, which however looks good with very thick cut of salmon. Overall, food taste is not that awesome, it has good decoration and personally still prefer Zanmai for price, or the best Edo Ichi for taste. =D Frankly, it did not capture my heart for good Japanese restaurant, maybe it’s good to you?
Flower girls. Playing around with the props at the restaurant.
    … … … … No comment.
    Henry Gor!
Funny that the restaurant waitress wants to take a photo of us too, guess they want to use it to advertise or something.
Anyway, it’s good night out with them after a long day of work at the office and feeling of having friends at a place I do not call home is nice.
Thumbs up for happy birthday Quenna. =)
Thumbs up for happy birthday Siyi.
Happy birthday to Quenna & Si Yi. 恭喜发财!生日快乐!=)
Hohoho, suddenly I felt so young because I am not even 21 yet. Haha. Time to plan for the next exploration, 7 months left for me to be in here, so I’m gonna explore everywhere as much I can. =D Any good place to eat, see or play in Klang Valley or around?

  • Klang Valley: Flying Wan Tan Mee, Seapark

Klang Valley: Flying Wan Tan Mee, Seapark

Klang Valley: Flying Wan Tan Mee, Seapark – Last time, I went to eat myBurger Lab, passed by and saw the Wan Tan Mee guy doing stun with the noodle, tossing up high in the air to collect dust, and just recently, I went to try it out! Haha.
It’s pretty interesting that playing with the wan tan mee, as if I am not wrong, tossing it up in the air will cool the noodle for better texture in the mouth and make it more springy. I don’t know true or not, but of course it will sure collect a lot of dust in the air. I feel that it’s more like doing a show than the purpose.
But anyway, I went there for dinner, ordered a plate of Wan Tan Mee dry with Char Siew and Wan Tan and it costs RM6. Well, I’ve to say that the noodle is quite good in the mouth, not to soft and just nice to my preference. Seems like the tossing works. The Char Siew on the other hand is nice and sweet but lack of a bit of BBQ taste, unlike the killer Char Siew at Meng Kee, Glenmerie. And the Wan Tan dumplings were very standard, nothing to complain about.
My friend told me that it used to be even better, but so far I feel that  it’s a good plate of Wan Tan Mee, not costly and I will come back again for dinner next time. =)

  • Klang Valley: Burger Junkyard, Kota Damansara

Klang Valley: Burger Junkyard, Kota Damansara

Klang Valley: Burger Junkyard, Kota Damansara – Now it makes me wonder that is it burger craze lately? There’s the Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar, Abang Burn Burger, myBurger Lab, and in Penang, Marshall’s Burger which are getting a lot of noises lately and now, another one at Kota Damansara – Burger Junkyard.
A trend or what? It’s not McDonald’s, or Burger King anymore, nor roadside Ramly burger, it’s about innovation, thick patties, varieties, sauce, fries, queue and interior design.
Talking to Burger Junkyard, it’s located at The Strand, Kota Damansara and it was my dinner yesterday night with the same group of friends who are working intern for interior design firm at there. It’s getting more meet-ups right now during work time than during school times. Fun! Because after a long day of work, a little chat and get-together and laughter with familiar faces is good.
Oh dirty rat with number for the burger delivery to your table.
The Burger Junkyard has a very simple interior design with graffiti art on the wall resembling junkyard. Looking across the menu, obviously it has lesser choices compare to myBurger Lab. There’s no long queue like myBurger Lab and don’t have a person standing there recommending good burger. I asked for recommendation and ordered the Brooklyn Burger (RM15.90) which comes with burger itself and fries. There’s no additional top up for set meal and not much choices for drinks.
Price is cheaper than myBurger Lab but how about taste? French fries is not as good as myBurger Lab as there’s no killer fried garlic. The patties was thick enough but somehow it’s not as strong and good as myBurger Lab. In my 2 cents, I still prefer myBurger Lab for the taste, the atmosphere and the price. Haha. What do you think? Some say good, some say so-so, I’d say OKOK only.

Side order French Fries. Not really killer fries. HAHA.
Pineapple Fungi (vegetarian) (RM13.90) – Pineapple, portebello mushroom, onions, homemade aioli.
Hoola Hoop Hawii (RM14.90) – Lettuce, tomatoes, smoked turkey ham, grilled pineapple, tangy cocktail, dressing.
Brooklyn Burger (RM15.90) – Choice of chicken, or beef (I picked beef), beef bacon, grilled pineapple, tomato, onions, fried egg, aioli.
Arvin, me, Quenna, Hooi Pheng, Connie, Henry. Right side looks sad, left side looks happy. HAHA.

  • Klang Valley: 麺屋武蔵 Awesome Menya Musashi Ramen @ Isetan, 1 Utama

Klang Valley: 麺屋武蔵 Awesome Menya Musashi Ramen @ Isetan, 1 Utama

Klang Valley: 麺屋武蔵 Awesome Menya Musashi Ramen @ Isetan, 1 Utama – Recently, I am getting in love with ramen, this feeling started ever since my brother brought me to Marutama and Ippudu ramen in Singapore. Now, those ramen restaurants are now available in Malaysia and I found some other good one too, just like this Menya Musashi ramen which origins from Japan!

Menya Musashi is located in Eat Paradise of Isetan in 1 Utama shopping mall. It’s very easy to find, beside it is just another ramen restaurant (Gantetsu) which some said its nice too! The restaurant does not has very fancy design, it’s a very small restaurant with lots of samurai poster. The name of the restaurant comes from the legendary Edo-era swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi. That’s explain the samurai illustration around this little restaurant.
    Hello Clarice! =)
It’s a very happy and cheerful atmosphere at there because the staff, the chefs all are shouting at each other, actually greeting you in Japanese. You actually start out at the entrance where you take a look at the menu, then you order, make payment only then seated.
It’s very easy to order, firstly you choose the type of soup you want, then type of ramen and ingredient and voila, you are done. Other wise, you can pick some side dishes like Gyoza or there’s a nice Chashu Gohan, rice with chashu pork! Yummeh.

So what I ordered was a bowl of Kuro Ajitama Ramen and a Chashu Gohan. Sky juice was free in the restaurant. Talking about the Kuro Ajitama Ramen, Kuro is the broth which made from special garlic oil and fried shallow and it’s brownish black! To be surprised, the soup tasted very very good, and I even perfected it with some extra fried garlic and their special chili oil. The ramen was springy and the tamago egg was just nicely half-boiled. 2 big pieces of Chashu pork with some bamboo shoots cheered up my dinner for that night.

Another dish was the Chashu Gohan, a rice filled with sweet chashu pork and lots of welsh onion. This is nice too and it costs only RM9. I added some fried garlic into the rice to add a bit of crunchy-ness to compliment to the chashu and welsh onion.

Everything was so good, the people, the friendly chefs who always greeting loudly, and shouted like a samurai when making noodles, the ramen, the rice were just great. However, price wise was a bit high as the ramen was RM29. Overall, this is good, and I finished up the soup. Yummeh.

  • Klang Valley: Crispy Siu Yuk & Char Siew Rice, SS2 Wai Sek Kai

Klang Valley: Crispy Siu Yuk & Char Siew Rice, SS2 Wai Sek Kai

Klang Valley: Crispy Siu Yuk & Char Siew Rice, SS2 Wai Sek Kai – Now only I know that the SS2 Murni doesn’t open for lunch, they are open for dinner only! I thought that the other outlet of Murni Discovery opens for lunch and this original outlet too. I wanted to eat Claypot Lao Shu Fen for lunch, but ended up at the SS2 Wai Sek Kai.
There’s not many stalls open for lunch too at this SS2 Wai Sek Kai, but you can find some Mixed Rice stalls, noodle stalls and also this Ah Seng Hainan Chicken Rice Stall. So my lunch was here!
Opens from lunch till dinner, the stall sells Hainanese Chicken Rice, Char Siew, Siew Yuk, Wan Tan Mee and porridge. Didn’t have much feeling for chicken so it was Char Siew & Siew Yuk and it costs RM5.50 for it. It also comes with a compliment of bitter-gourd soup that soothes the dry plate of rice.
The Siew Yuk is has crispy skin which is very nice and the BBQ Char Siew is sweet enough but then it’s not overly BBQ-ed which lack a bit of burned taste. The rice on the other hand is oily and OK-good.
Well, to sum up, this is quite a good stall for Chicken, Char Siew and Siew Yuk rice in SS2. =)

  • Klang Valley: Nasi Lemak Cikgu, Kelana Jaya

Klang Valley: Nasi Lemak Cikgu, Kelana Jaya

Klang Valley: Nasi Lemak Cikgu, Kelana Jaya – Recently, the restaurants I went have very cute or funny name. The last one was Bird Man now and found another one – Nasi Lemak Cikgu! Cikgu means teacher in Malay and it sounds interesting. ‘Cikgu! Cikgu! Cikgu! Jangan pukul saya cikgu’. LOL.
My friend Beng Tian brought me there for dinner after work and it’s located somewhere behind Giant Kelana Jaya, the area where it sells a lot of Chinese Muslim food. As the name of the restaurant says, it only sells Nasi Lemak at there, it’s either those in a packet one or a plate of hot Nasi Lemak with side dishes like fried chicken and more. So I ordered one plate with half piece of chicken. It comes with plenty of sambal gravy which is quite tasty and not spicy. The chicken, to be surprised was really crispy and has a good aroma.

Yes, this place is consider one of the good Nasi Lemak in Klang Valley in my opinion. Price? It’s RM7.20 for that plate of Nasi Lemak with half piece of fried chicken and a hot tea, so do the math. =D I asked the person and the boss, the owner is really a ‘Cikgu’ in high school! Cool!
Next Nasi Lemak to try – Village Park, heard it’s the best? Some said Murni has better fried chicken, what do you think?

  • Klang Valley: Wan Tan Mee @ Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam, Aman Suria

Klang Valley: Wan Tan Mee @ Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam, Aman Suria

Klang Valley: Wan Tan Mee @ Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam, Aman Suria (Revisited) – The last time I came to this Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam was to eat the Curry Wan Tan Mee for lunch. Today, I revisited the kopitiam for lunch again with my colleagues but instead of Curry Wan Tan Mee, I ordered the dry Wan Tan Mee, the standard Wan Tan Mee with soy sauce and real wan tan.
In addition, I requested for Char Siu & Siu Yok which costed RM6.50 for this plate of noodle. To be surprised, it’s awesomelicious! The springy noodle accompany with sweet BBQ Char Siu and crispy skin Siu Yok is perfect match. The soy sauce is special too, not overly salty but a bit oily. Though, if there’s some Kailan or Choi Sum vegetable, it would be even wonderful.
Afterall, lunch was satisfied and I will come back again. =)
    UPDATE: The stall has moved.
