Klang Valley: Paddington Garden, Sunway Giza
Klang Valley: Paddington Garden, Sunway Giza – Paddington Garden is pancake specialized cafe located at Sunway Giza and serving the same menu that they had in Taiwan (yes, it’s from Taiwan). I went to for an afternoon tea to try out their pancake few weeks back, I thought I almost had found a similar nice pancake like the one I had at Hoshino Coffee in Singapore, but then it’s the pancake at Paddington Garden is just the other way around.I am not a pancake-pro, but I like it to be sweet and something like what I had at Hoshino Cafe. I didn’t now what to order, and randomly ordered a Tiramisu Pancake. Turned out, it’s not what I wanted and it tasted somewhat, bitter with the espresso topping! HAHAHA. Well, I need sweet pancake, any recommendation?Paddington Garden of PancakeF-03 First Floor (Inside of Sunway Giza)Sunway Giza Mall,Kota Damansara.Telephone: +603-61431632View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre
Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre – I am starting to miss this tiramisu from Alexis. The world is so big that there’s so many better food out there! Before this, I always thought of China House at Penang has the best tiramisu cake, but actually not, Alexis has even better one!I actually get to know about it by a friend that she claimed that Alexis has a better one. This sparked my curiousity and no doubt, it is. Talking about Alexis, they serve various western cuisine, as well as fusion food too, but my visit was just for the sake of tiramisu. They have a few outlets, one at The Gardens, Mid Valley, another one is outside of Bangsar Village Mall, one is at Bangsar Shopping Centre (the one I went) and another one at Ampang. It’s kind of ‘atas’ to me with a nicely decorated minimalist interior and if you come at certain nights, they have relaxing jazz music accompany your meal. Pretty cool! Too bad I am already back to Penang, don’t get much chance to visit again. Hmmm!

Klang Valley: Acme Bar & Coffee, Troika, Kuala Lumpur
Klang Valley: Acme Bar & Coffee, Troika, Kuala Lumpur – Troika is one of my favourite building in Kuala Lumpur, designed by Foster & Partners architect and it’s standing beautifully just right across the KLCC park. It’s actually a high-end city condominium with restaurant at the mid-level sky bridge and also at the ground floor. Of course, it’s a high-end fine dining restaurant at the sky bridge on 24th floor, there’s also a bar as well as another Italian restaurant (unfortunately, only the Cantaloupe fine dining restaurant can get the best view of KLCC).Coming back to Acme Bar & Coffee, or ABC in short, is another restaurant at Troika, but located on the ground floor. The restaurant, of course serve western cuisine, as well as food with a fusion of localized taste and price starts from RM25. It’s rather pricey, although some accept it because of the location and interior setup of the place. Don’t expect the premise to be big, it’s actually smaller than I expected, but the raw steel and wood design, blend with English-style design actually attracted my senses quite a lot.Let’s talk about food. When people discusses about ABC, the first thing comes to mind must be their famous Cempadak (Jackfruit) Cake, but that’s desserts and served in the end. Of course, they have a good Smoked Buffalo Wings which we didn’t order, unfortunately. The menu’s variety is quite choice-ful and me and my friends were confused picking out our main course.
Just Mac & Cheese – RM27.
Angel Hair Pasta with Scallops – RM-forget. Another interesting dish with lots of pan-fried scallop.
Sambal Hebi Aglio Olio Spaghetti – RM31. Interesting combination of local and western taste with lots of shrimp.
Grilled Jumbo Hot Dog – RM-forget, but I know it’s the lowest price of all and my friend said it’s good! Yes, it indeed looks good.
Marinated Grilled Lamb Shoulder – RM-forget but it’s the priciest of all you see here. The portion is quite big which I promise a full stomach after this.
US! The food gang, the interior designers. Yes, the food is very over-priced in my opinion, but it seems to be a nice place for hangout with friends actually. Food taste is still up to standard in my tastebuds and service was pleasant. If there’s a chance, I want to go back for a breakfast as they have different menu. After all, the down point is still the price, really pricey. Bahhh.

Kwong Sang House, George Town
Kwong Sang House, George Town – Heritage-style cafe and restaurants are now here and there in this UNESCO World Heritage City of George Town. There’s so many to visit right now and I know that there’s still more to come in the future! Somehow, do you realised the food that each of these heritage-style cafe offered are similar? Coffee, pastry, pasta, pizza and sandwiches. Hopefully I will something different like parmesan port chicken pie, jumbo hot dog, grilled marinated lamb shoulder, pork chops and stuff like that.Anyway, Kwong Sang House, a restaurant converted from an ex-tailor shop which has a tailor-theme in the little heritage shophouse which serves food like pizza, pasta, chicken chops, fish and chips and more. Food is tuned to a more localised taste, similar to those western food stall that you can find at food court, but with a better setting, bigger portion and more beautiful food presentation.I recently went to tried their Spaghetti Aglio Olio & Chicken and Ham Pizza. My personal liking goes to the spaghetti, but then it’s not better than the one at I had at Redbean Bags @ Publika. Chicken and Ham Pizza was rather plain with lesser ingredient. I might come back to try out some other food in their menu provided the price is quite reasonable at about RM10-RM20. The restaurant itself is simple and relaxing too!Kwong Sang House 廣生洋服36 Leith Street 10220 Georgetown PenangTel: +6012-556 5509 / +6012-4939 230Business Hour: 12pm-2.30pm, 6pm-11pm (close on Thursday)View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Klang Valley: Western-Style Breakfast At Antipodean, Bangsar
Klang Valley: Western-Style Breakfast At Antipodean, Bangsar – If you are looking for some western-style big breakfast set, or some croissant with scrambled egg, french toast and more, then Antipodean Cafe at Bangsar is the place for you. Some say it’s very good, some has gave me some unfavourable comment and how about me? Let’s check it out down below.Antipodean Cafe is a well-established cafe in Jakarta and it came to Malaysia 2 years ago. Situating near the Bangsar Village Mall, the cafe gets really crowded during the weekends and it took about 20 minutes for us to get a seat inside during lunch time. The place is small and very cramp. Interestingly, there’s no menu, as in physical menu, it’s all written on the huge blackboard and pick it from there. Service was quite good actually as the staff was like keep updating us about the availability of seat when we were waiting out there.
Mango Lassi was good!
Big Breakfast. So food! Big Breakfast, Croissant Scrambled Egg with Bacon & Vietnamese Fried Beef Noodle were what’s on our table that morning! The food presentation do look really good and the portion is quite big. Mine was the Big Breakfast but then it somehow seems ‘too-western’ for me because the scrambled egg was rather tasteless. The mushroom tasted special, something that I haven’t came across before, and I kinda like it.
Croissant With Scrambled Egg and Sausage.
Vietnamese Beef Noodle. Vietnamese Beef Noodle feels like char koay teow, but a sourish version. Quite interesting but not my type! Croissant was just croissant to me, you know, quite standard and the side dish like scrambled egg and sausage are just the same.Well, I would just have to comment it’s something in between good and bad, might be I have an oriental taste bud, and it might be good for your western taste bud, perhaps?Antipodean Cafe20, Jalan Telawi,Bangsar,59000 Kuala Lumpur.View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Penang: Lighthouse Coffee, Bishop Street
Penang: Lighthouse Coffee – Drinking a cup of aromatic coffee in the core of UNESCO World Heritage City of George Town, Penang, together with a small slice of cake just bring the relaxing experience to a greater level. Coffee shops are popping up here and there in this little city of George Town. The recent one that I have visited was Lighthouse Coffee, located in Logan Heritage by Bishop Street, it’s just off the famous Beach Street which is filled with colonial-styles building. It is a very small cafe which serve coffee of course, a great variety of coffee and desserts cake. I am not a coffee addict, it’s just something to drink for relaxing and to freshen up the mind. So, I went to check around Foursquare and has got some recommendation which is the Mochaccino and tiramisu.Well then, Mochaccino and a small slice of Tiramisu was accompanying me and Clarice in the hot sunny afternoon. The Mochaccino was good, the aroma of coffee beans and a little bit taste of chocolate did indeed brings pleasant stream through my taste buds and down my throat.Tiramisu on the other hand blends well between the alcohol and the sweetness. Somehow, the texture was not spongy enough and I still prefer the one at China House. However, this is up to the level too for a good tiramisu. It’s just that it has a very small portion. So, if you are craving for a coffee and a good quiet place for your afternoon, do check out Lighthouse Coffee.Lighthouse CoffeeLogan Heritage BuildingNo 4 Bishop Street,10300 George Town, Penang.Telephone: +6012-436-0836

Singapore: Momiji Japanese Buffet, Revenue House
Singapore: Momiji Japanese Buffet, Revenue House – On a after-work Friday evening, after fetching my brother from the CBD, he brought me and Clarice to the Revenue House at Novena for this Japanese buffet @ Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant for dinner. There’s nothing much special of having Japanese buffet in Singapore, it feels the same to me, except that the currency is in Sing dollar. Interestingly it’s located in a government building where it’s very quiet after work.Comparing to Malaysia’s, it’s only S$36.80++/per pax, given that you earn in Singapore dollar, it’s pretty affordable comparing to at least RM80/per pax in Malaysia with the similar salary payroll, but in Ringgit.Forget about the money talk. Let’s get into the restaurant for food. If you come early, in between 6.30pm to 7.30pm, you can get a free flow of Sapporo beer. I assume that they want to bloated your stomach with beer so you can’t consume much. HAHA.Nevertheless, the buffet choices was pretty interesting, there’s a wide range of fresh raw sashimi which I only targeted the raw salmon and shrimp. Other than that, the teppanyaki and cook-on-the-spot section attracted me well, as well as the dinner special of snow crab and crayfish. Snow crab was really interesting with juicy and salty crab meat.Desserts furthermore satisfied my sweet tooth with a few repeats of Haagen Dazs ice cream, and cakes.Ended with a satisfied stomach, fulled, and a smile on the face. We then headed to Gardens By The Bay for a little night walk to ease the digestion.Revenue House #02-0255, Newton Road,307987 Singapore.Telephone: +65-6253-2469View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Klang Valley: Beautiful Mess 5.0 of myBurgerLab
Klang Valley: Beautiful Mess 5.0 of myBurgerLab – A torrent of slaps fell on Friday night. I thought that with that kind of wet and roaring weather, people will tend to stay at home for meal or go somewhere near to grab a quick bite, but then the usual evening queue at myBurgerLab was on!Indeed, the burger shop is doing very well. Queued for about 20 minutes and the burger of the night was Beautiful Mess 5.0 (RM18) – Charcoal bun stuffed with portobella fries, thick and juicy beef patties, sunny side up, and mozarella cheese. One more thing, thumbs up for the good service of myBurgerLab’s staff who always put a smile on the face. =D Another thing is that they should seriously a bigger space is needed, it’s hard to get a place to sit.
BEAUTIFUL MESS 5.0! Look at the deep fried portobella!

Penang: Kampai 9.9 Taiwanese ‘Zhu Char’, E-Gate
Penang: Kampai 9.9 Taiwanese ‘Zhu Char’, E-Gate – Despite being tensed with the General Election 2013, while waiting for the result to be announced later, I think I shall write some food post to release some tension. =D Let’s head to Penang, for food!So this place that I visited last weekend was Kampai, located at E-Gate, the place used to be Tao Japanese Cuisine. It’s quite a surprised to see the once very famous Tao is gone and replaced by Kampai. Later then, I just realised that Kampai is from the same person who runs Tao! That’s why.Kampai is actually a Chinese restaurant, just like ‘zhu char’ (dai chao) restaurant but in a up-scale environment and atmosphere and selling mainly Taiwanese dishes, starting from RM9,9/dish. It’s quite interesting trying Taiwanese-style of ‘zhu char’ because all the while, Taiwanese food is just beef noodle, 3 cups noodle and deep fried chicken.
Fried Bittergourd with Salted Egg
Pork slices with garlic sauce together with toufu under the pork slices.
Sweet and sour pork which was rather hard to chew.
Ma Po Toufu which is quite standard, nothing fancy. Well, actually the taste is quite good in my opinion, but my brother commented that it’s quite standard, taste like what he had in Singapore. The fried bittergourd with salted egg was good, the pork slices with garlic was good, but the sweet and sour pork andma po toufu was just not fancy enough. But after all, I kinda enjoyed my lunch at there.Kampai @ E-Gate1-01-05 & 1-01-06, Ground Floor,E-Gate, Lebuh Tunku Kudin 2,11900 Gelugor, Penang.Telephone: +604-6587826

Penang: Mugshot Cafe, Chulia Street
Penang: Mugshot Cafe, Chulia Street – Haven’t been home for quite some times and just realised that there’s so many new cafes pop up around town! Mugshot Cafe is a new one (might not new to Penangite but me) at Chulia Street, right opposite the famous Wan Tan Mee or just next to the Rainforest Bakery.I’m wondering how to describe this kind of cafe. It’s retro-ish, a bit of artsy fartsy and a little bit similar to Burps & Giggles of Ipoh. Heritage artsy style? There’s so many in town right now. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it’s kinda hard to get a seat there. The seating is kinda cute with low table and chair like in the kindergarten.
There’s not much in the menu, you can find coffee and tea, some cakes, homemade yogurt, and bagel muffin. That’s it. Bagels were sold out and it’s only cake and yogurt for me. The carrot cake was good, sweet enough for my sweet tooth and the apple crumble was nice too according to my mom, but then I think I am not an apple crumble person, I don’t like the sourish apple in it. HAHA. Another thing I ordered was the Walnuts & Raisins Yogurt which I find it too sourish too, should have tried Jackfruit & Gula Melaka!
Raisin & Walnut Yogurt. Too sour for me.
Carrot Cake.
Apple Crumble Pie. After all, this seems to be a good place for an afternoon tea and to chill. Will be back to try their bagel muffin. The Mugshot Cafe302 Chulia Street,10200 George Town,Penang, MalaysiaTelephone: +6012-4056276Business Hours: 8am – 9pmView Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map
