Breakfast At Kampung Broga
Breakfast At Kampung Broga – After the awesome, healthy and fun hike at Broga Hill, the stomach gets very hungry because I did not eat anything before the hike. Luckily there’s a small Chinese village nearby – Kampung Broga where you can find a hearty breakfast at one of the kopitiam there. It’s just 5 minutes drive, and the village is very very small. Well, you can say you reaches Negeri Sembilan at here, because the little village cut through the border of Selangor state and Negeri Sembilan state. No matter which state it is, food and refreshing drinks were more important at that time!Introduced by a friend Zee Yin that she read on blogs that this little kopitiam serve good Cham Peng (mix of Kopi & Tea with ice) and so it’s our place for breakfast. Surprised that there’s no one in this little coffee shop and we shouted ‘Hello, anyone here?’ for several time, yet no one were there. Only after 10 minutes, someone walked toward us from the next door. It’s the owner, chilling at some other place as I guess they expect no people. Haha. Well, indeed true that throughout the morning, it’s only us! There’s one group of people walked in, but walked out just after that; very zho siao (playful) of them.Well, you actually can find a variety of food in this little kopitiam that you see no food stalls. They serve steam bread, half boiled egg, wan tan mee, chicken feet mushroom mee, fried rice and more! Food actually served from the shop next door, but they shops are so friend that they serve here and there. Wan Tan Mee was my breakfast, noodle was springy, char siu was sweet, but wan tan were no where to be good. For only RM3.50, that’s where the taste goes to at this little town that not many people aware of. After all, the Cham Peng complimented my breakfast after a tiring and exciting hike.Place for breakfast after hiking? This is it. Friendly owner, simple local food, and nice Cham Peng.View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Klang Valley: Flying Wan Tan Mee, Seapark
Klang Valley: Flying Wan Tan Mee, Seapark – Last time, I went to eat myBurger Lab, passed by and saw the Wan Tan Mee guy doing stun with the noodle, tossing up high in the air to collect dust, and just recently, I went to try it out! Haha.
It’s pretty interesting that playing with the wan tan mee, as if I am not wrong, tossing it up in the air will cool the noodle for better texture in the mouth and make it more springy. I don’t know true or not, but of course it will sure collect a lot of dust in the air. I feel that it’s more like doing a show than the purpose. But anyway, I went there for dinner, ordered a plate of Wan Tan Mee dry with Char Siew and Wan Tan and it costs RM6. Well, I’ve to say that the noodle is quite good in the mouth, not to soft and just nice to my preference. Seems like the tossing works. The Char Siew on the other hand is nice and sweet but lack of a bit of BBQ taste, unlike the killer Char Siew at Meng Kee, Glenmerie. And the Wan Tan dumplings were very standard, nothing to complain about. My friend told me that it used to be even better, but so far I feel that it’s a good plate of Wan Tan Mee, not costly and I will come back again for dinner next time. =)Flying Wan Tan MeeJalan 21/22, Taman Sea,Petaling Jaya.View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Klang Valley: Wan Tan Mee @ Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam, Aman Suria
Klang Valley: Wan Tan Mee @ Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam, Aman Suria (Revisited) – The last time I came to this Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam was to eat the Curry Wan Tan Mee for lunch. Today, I revisited the kopitiam for lunch again with my colleagues but instead of Curry Wan Tan Mee, I ordered the dry Wan Tan Mee, the standard Wan Tan Mee with soy sauce and real wan tan.In addition, I requested for Char Siu & Siu Yok which costed RM6.50 for this plate of noodle. To be surprised, it’s awesomelicious! The springy noodle accompany with sweet BBQ Char Siu and crispy skin Siu Yok is perfect match. The soy sauce is special too, not overly salty but a bit oily. Though, if there’s some Kailan or Choi Sum vegetable, it would be even wonderful.Afterall, lunch was satisfied and I will come back again. =)UPDATE: The stall has moved.Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam19-2A, Jalan PJU 1/3C,Sunway Mas Commercial Center,Aman Suria, 47301View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Evening At Seapark With Flying Wan Tan Mee
Evening At Seapark With Flying Wan Tan Mee – Suddenly have the urge to take photos, it’s time for my ultimate Canon EOS 60D with Sigma 30mm f1.4 to go out for a trip. Saturday night was not just staying at home, online and TV for me; I went out to Seapark to find My Burger Lab for some burger-licious dinner with my friend Beng Tian.Accidentally, on the way to My Burger Lab, I found this very cool stall of Wan Tan Mee by the roadside, the Wan Tan Mee guy tossed the noodle so high in the air as the final move of cooking the noodle. I believe it’s to cool the noodle down a bit after cooking. After Googling around, the local call it the Flying Wan Tan Mee. Interesting, interesting and I want to try next time!My friend was the one who actually found out the flying Wan Tan Mee at there. I didn’t really notice it at first, then we waited about 10 minutes until people made an order, only then the guy did the stun. Haha. Good thing is, I’ve got the shot!Oh god, hungry now! Have you seen Flying Wan Tan Mee before? -

Klang Valley: Curry Wan Tan Mee @ Aman Suria (Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam)
Klang Valley: Curry Wan Tan Mee @ Aman Suria (Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam) – Now I have started working as an intern at a small interior design firm in Aman Suria,so I get to try different different food around that area during lunch and some times dinner too. Few days ago, my colleagues brought me to Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam to try out the Curry Wan Tan Mee.It’s a typical Chinese coffee shop but there’s only one stall operating during lunch hour and that’s the Curry Wan Tan Mee. At first, the colleagues told me we were going for “Curry Mee”, I thought it’s the same as Penang Curry Mee but turned out different. There’s only yellow noodle and the wan tan mee noodle, there’s no bee hoon mee or koay teow. Then you can pick the choice of fried wantan, siu yok (sio bak), char siu (cha sio) and/or si hum (cockles) for the ingredient of your noodle.I picked wantan mee noodle with si hum and siu yok (sio bak) and it costed me RM5.50 for that medium bowl of noodle. The stall was very generous in putting the ingredient as there’s plenty of cockles and siu yok. It’s a OK-good bowl of curry mee, with nice siu yok too, it’s just that it’s not spicy enough for me. If it has the Penang Curry Mee-type of chili paste then it will be awesome.Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam19-2A, Jalan PJU 1/3C,Sunway Mas Commercial Center,Aman Suria, 47301

Malacca: Wan Tan Mee @ Dung Fong Food Court
Malacca: Wan Tan Mee @ Dung Fong Food Court – I’ve heard before that the Wan Tan Mee (Noodle) at Malacca is different from elsewhere of Malaysia, the Malaccan has their own version of Wan Tan Mee. Thus, I went to Malacca to identify and see how different it is.
I found a stall located near to the Tong Bee Seafood which is also recommended by one of the local there. I went there after my little sihum lala meal and it’s actually quite nearbu to each other but then the GPS somehow took me a big round to reach it, don’t know why.
In a little food court of Dong Feng, many people were waiting for the Wan Tan Mee, it came after 10 minutes of waiting. It’s RM4 per plate and what’s different is there’s sio bak/siu yok roasted pork on it! Normally Wan Tan Mee serves with BBQ pork cha siu, but this one has additional siu yok. The sauce or gravy is a bit more saturated than the normal waterish soy sauce. Indeed, it tasted different because of the gravy that contains a little bit of chilli oil or something like that which tasted a bit of spicyness that I like!
It’s not a big different as I expected, but it has it own style and I kinda like it with siu yok. If the style is mix with Penang’s and KL’s that it will be super awesome as Penang uses lard, Kuala Lumpur has very good BBQ pork and noodle whereas Malacca’s gravy is special.F Do check out this place if you wanna try out Malacca-style Wan Tan Mee.

Breakfast Wan Tan Mee At Taman OUG
Breakfast Wan Tan Mee At Taman OUG – Was craving for Wan Tan Mee (noodle) this morning and went to the one located at PJS7 Low Cost Flat area but it was not open. Then the place ‘Taman OUG’ came up on my mind as it was somewhere in between the way to the city centre then off I went to that place.
I recalled once I had Wan Tan Mee at there but have forgotten about which stall and coffee shop it was. Randomly, I went to the coffee shop (Restorant Swee Hing) that has the most people. Parking was a big problem at that area, but I still managed to find one. Wan Tan Mee stall located at the front was the first thing that greeted me so I quickly ordered one to easy my morning hungryness.
RM4.50 for the above plate of Wan Tan Noodle, with plentiful of char siew, 3 wan tan in soup, a little kai lan and the springy noodle. Oily as it seems, but the noodle was springy enough and the soy sauce was just nice to my taste. Too bad there’s too less kailan vegetable. Char siu was so-so to me although sweet. As for the wantan, it’s not bad afterall. It’s just another kind of wan tan mee if were to compare to Penang’s. Penang’s has lard in it!
Please introduce some nice Wan Tan Mee place in Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur, PJ. =)
By the way, kopi-peng costs RM1.90! This is KL, duh…

Wan Tan Mee, Steam Bread & Egg @ Imbi Market (Pasar Bukit Bintang)
Wan Tan Mee, Steam Bread & Egg Breakfast @ Imbi Market – Known to Imbi Market to locals, but officially known as the Pasar Bukit Bintang which is a wet market located stone throw away from Bukit Bintang shopping district. I never know there’s such a nice wet market located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur providing good food and culture. This place gives me a feeling of eating at places like Presgrave Market (5th Road Market) in Penang.

Original Sisters Crispy Popiah where you can find it almost at any mall in Kuala Lumpur. Previously Taylor’s University has a stall but no idea why it’s closed down now.I was searching for kaya bread and half-boiled egg for breakfast and found this place on Google. I set up my Waze app GPS from my phone and headed to this place. Upon arriving, I felt good, seeing locals shopping for groceries and many people eating at the food stalls area. This place is fun, this place is so local.
I was too excited and saw many good food around, having no idea which is the best, I randomly ordered a set of kaya steam bread + half boiled egg, and also a plate of wan tan noodle. I’ve got to say all of them were good too me except the wan tan mee was expensive @ RM5/plate! OMG. Although the noodle is springy and the char siew is sweet and BBQ enough but then it’s kinda expensive. In Penang, you can find similar wan tan mee for RM2.50 at Chowrasta Market!
As for the steam kaya bread, it’s good, but Toh Soon’s Cafe has a better one. Haha. I heard that there’s another stall has good kaya toast (instead of steam) at this market too, I am going to check out next time.
I have a scrumptious breakfast that morning and I will come back again, for other food.

Chinese Mee Rebus And Maria’s Wan Tan Mee, Burma Road

Mee Rebus is actually a kind of Indian dishes. in fact some called it Indian noodle. The name, Chinese Mee Rebus is because this is made by a Chinese aunty instead of Indian. Yesterday night, I went to a kopitiam right beside New World Park to had my dinner. There’s only two stall of hawker food, one is the Chinese Mee Rebus and another is the Maria’s Wan Tan Mee.
I and my family ordered food from both stalls to try out the food. Besides having Mee Rebus, they do have fried rice too!
Here’s the fried version of mee rebus (RM4). There’s another version which is the wet one with gravy. The fried and dry version is good. Somehow, I feel the Indian version is better. Haha. But mom say this one is cleaner in the point of the way it’s served and prepared. Anyway, still a good eat.
Then I ordered the Maria’s Wan Tan Mee. Maria is actually the stall name. Haha. And I felt this is OKOK only, the noodle is just not springy enough, but the best part is that it’s RM2.80 only. =)

Wan Tan Mee at Jalan Sekolah La Salle
This is a guest post by GenYong.
Hello guys, is me again GenYong here! When you drive through the Air Itam road from Chung Ling High School to town, I am sure you will pass by Shang Wu Primary School. Outside of the school there are some hawker stalls serving their dishes in afternoon. Have you try it before?
I tried the Wan Tan Mee at there before. It is cheap but tasty! The plate of Wan Tan Mee is quite big and really taste good for me. Usually people crowded when tea time and lunch time too. I am not sure about is there selling at night.
The price for one plate of Wan Tan Mee is quite reasonable and there are many ingredients inside the plate of Wan Tan Mee. So if you got drop by there you can go and take a try. Besides Wan Tan Mee, there are also some hawker food served, take your choice! Location is outside Shang Wu Primary School which next to Heong Giam Si Temple.
