Snowflake Taiwanese Dessert At SS15 Is Wonderful

Victor and Yong Xiang introduced me about this Snowflake Taiwanese Dessert cafe at SS15, just right opposite of the famous-to-student Asia Cafe. By hearing the name, I thought it was just some typical snowy type dessert. In fact, it’s not what I was expected and it’s something that I come across for the first time.

Located right opposite of Asia Cafe on the first floor, so you might need to look up to spot the cafe when you pass by that place.

It was Thursday night and it’s already 1030pm, but then the crowds kept coming in and the queue was pretty long. Whole house was filled with people and I started wondering what’s so awesome about this Snowflake. So I made my way through the line and ordered my very first Snowflakes Special Hot, I was have a fly at that time.

After ordering my dessert, I was given a round gadget thing which they called it the Beeping UFO. Makes me felt so Star Wars or Star Trek and it’s pretty cool. I took the thing to my table to wait for my command from the spaceship captain.

After 5-10 minutes of waiting, it blinked and vibrated. I knew that I was ready to go to my spaceship.

So here’s what I ordered, you see nothing right? It’s actually grass jelly with peanut and taroballs. You will think, “what?! grassjelly?” I tell you, the grass jelly is different from what you order out there, it’s, just special. And the taroballs is something chewy and nice to put inside my mouth. I have no idea how to describe it. Although I ordered a hot one, but then it came out warm which didn’t burn my tongue or throat and turned out nice.

I recommend this place. =D Too bad they didn’t offer WiFi at there, else I would be sitting at there all night long surfing the net and blog more already.

They have another outlet at Pavilion too. So in case you are far from SS15, Subang Jaya, you can check out the one in Pavilion. =)

  • Walk Walk at Pavilion, Fahrenheit 88 and Kelana Jaya LRT

Walk Walk at Pavilion, Fahrenheit 88 and Kelana Jaya LRT

Hello people. Still remember two weeks ago I went to Kuala Lumpur with my friends from Penang. Yes, here am I continuing my story. It was a rainy day. Pavilion and KLCC is like stone throw away but then because of the rain, we couldn’t get across the street and walk to Pavilion. That’s the problem.

We tried to wait but the rain was like getting bigger and we 7 people only had an umbrella. We hailed a taxi at KLCC and he wanted RM10. We did not get in of course. Carmen thought it was cheap. Haha. Then we asked for another taxi, and RM5 he wanted and agree to take 5 of us. That’s better. The other two, Xiu Xin and Tee Jin walked to Pavilion with an umbrella. =D

Taxi dropped us at the drop off area at the back door, saw a lot of nice car and we went to take photos. Wonder when only will I have a very powerful car valet parked at here. Haha.

Then we walk walk and walk walk. Nothing much to do at there, just walk.

Walked into Apple shop to check out stuff but don’t have iPhone 4 on display. Very jealous when seeing iPhone 4 user go and shop for accessories. >.<

I actually have something to do at Pavilion. I went to DiGi Centre to change my prepaid plan to DG Smart Plan. Now I can surf on the go, unlimited for only RM68 per month. Haha. The whole conversion process took two hours and I have to paid RM68 in advance. The phone need to have RM5 in credit balance in order to the conversion.

After using it for a few weeks, I felt that the DiG is still not better than Maxis, except the price. Cheap!

I didn’t want to eat fast food already because I had McDonald’s for afternoon tea, but since everyone was so craving for it, I joined the fun. Expensive Carl’s Junior which I only will go once in a blue moon. I have no money!

We then walk walk to Fahrenheit 88, the new mall, used to be KL Plaza and it’s pretty small inside and not very cool. Nothing much in there, many shop not yet open and what I am most excited about is Uniqlo. =D Yay. Opening somewhere in November if I am not mistaken.

Oktoberfest is here! I don’t drink, too bad.

    Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s toilet.

Walked back to KLCC to take the LRT back to Kelana Jaya where our cars were.

A bit sampat squatting at there, but I was just so tired.

    Arron!

Guys, from Penang and Chung Ling High School. Got Shah Alam, got Kelana Jaya, got Sepang and also me, Bandar Sunway.

Me, Arron, Carmen, Xiu Xin, Tee Jin, Pin Hoong, Jing Min. Yay.

Then good night, it’s late and tired. Penang people in KL. Haha.

  • Hennessy Artistry at QE2

    Hennessy Artistry at QE2

Many many weeks ago, I was invited to Hennessy Artistry at QE2. Thanks to Yong Xiang who referred me to Hennessy’s PR people. I was pretty excited because going to an inviting-based event and first time stomping into the clubbing scene. I am not a clubber, but I do go to club, just for fun and look around. Haha.

I asked along Alvin, Jin, Arron (via yiphing.net), Boo Teik and Chien Chern to go there too. It seems pretty interesting because it’s my first time going to such event and QE2. Have been living in Penang for so many years but it’s my first time going to QE2. It’s more likely a pub/restaurant/club, facing the sea.

Cool stuff is that we need not to queue up long like others who register through the website for pass. We’re bloggers and there’s special lane for us.

Though, looking at the list, I did not see many Penang bloggers at there. Where’s all the Penang bloggers?

Upon registration, we get a paper band as passes to go in. Red color are for media/blogger which can access VIP and media area.

Regarding my bald head, I just came out from National Service not long ago. Haha. And I was already partying.

It’s pretty high tech now. There’s a TV showing tweets of people who tweeted about the event, I tried to get mine on but it’s loading slow. Do follow my Twitter. =)

The upper level is for media/blogger/VIP. Though, hardly find any familiar faces there. I know too little people.

Best thing of the night was not the music, or dancing as there’s not any dance floor at there, it’s the Hennessy that rocks, mixing with different mixer, apple, lime, coke or just plain water. Apple and lime were good. =D And one thing, it’s free flow!

Because of free flow, early early at night already can see people down on the floor already. I am not a heavy drinker, I can’t drink much too. Don’t laugh me. Haha.

Basically, people just enjoy drinking that night, and a little big of music and rapping by Joe Flizzow, Sona One and Ad Bangers.

It’s so freaking crowded and happenings in there. Want to move around also hard and one thing, it’s pretty warm that night as it’s open air, facing the sea. Sea breeze was not enough to breeze us up too. Sweating.

There’s also a food corner where the chef make food with Hennessy VSOP, though we didn’t get a chance to try it because the queue and waiting was damn long. We were so not patience.

Met some familiar faces at last, Povy, Jane and Sze Sze.

The free flow ended some time and we decided to leave that place as nothing much to do at there already. We were there just to see see and not get drunk. So we went somewhere else.

Well, it’s kinda rocks and like it. If any of you PR people do need blogger to attend your event, contact me. =D Hahaha.

Live: Sitting at Inti’s 4th Floor Study Boxes

Hello people. I am sleepy but no choice to wait for the World Cup Semi Final match at 2.30am which is the match of Spain vs Germany. This will be a very exciting match as both are strong and the psychic octopus went to Spain this time. To know whether the octopus is really that powerful or not, we have to watch this match. If Germany wins, kill the octopus, if Spain wins, then the octopus own!

I support Spain by the way because I dislike Germany. Sorry Germany fans. =D

Right now, I am sitting at Inti’s College 4th floor study boxes at the hostel area with my college friends waiting for the match. They are studying and I am onlining, waiting the time to pass.

  • Batu Ferringhi Night Market and Hard Rock Hotel with Chien Chern

Batu Ferringhi Night Market and Hard Rock Hotel with Chien Chern

After going to the Region 1 Leo Club farewell thingy by the beach, I found out it’s still early and I have a feeling of going to Batu Ferringhi. I have no idea why I like Batu Ferringhi so much lately. Then I realised Chien Chern lived in Batu Ferringhi so I called him out for a walk.

Never knew that it’s so jam on a Saturday night, traffic was super duper slow, I guess it’s because of the Sixty9ine Mansion. So if you want to go there on a Saturday night, go at 9pm and slowly jam until 10pm when you will reach there.

I have not go to the night market at Batu Ferringhi for quite a long time although it’s like 15 minutes drive from my house only. Now all who go there are like tourists from the Middle East, even the worker who operate the stalls are not locals. Stuff selling there are always the expected fake LV, Gucci, Burberry and more which I didn’t even bother to take a look. Specs and DVDs are good buy at there IMO. Hehe.

Was thinking of going into Sixty9ine to take a look but it was so freaking full and crowded and have to wait. So we decided to go another place and that’s one of my favourite too, Hard Rock Hotel! Rocks.

There’s many of don’t know where from, Indonesian Malay I assumed and a Malay live band on the hotel lobby. Pretty cool.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnoYNt-f2UE&w=640&h=505]

One of the song they sang was Hijau, which reminded me about NS life. I guess those who have been to NS will know about this song.

    LOL. Lame and vain.

  • Batu Ferringhi With Chien Chern and Cheong Kin

Batu Ferringhi With Chien Chern and Cheong Kin

I don’t know why recently my ass is so naughty and couldn’t stick still to the chair. For some night, I felt like going out for some fresh air and not staying at home. And my recent favourite place is Batu Ferringhi, a beach like 15 minutes from my home.

Last time I usually will go to town or go to pasar malam at Jelutong but suddenly feel like going to Batu Ferringhi, thinking of getting out of the busy city to a tourist area, more peace, more fun. Haha.

It was a Wednesday night and I asked Cheong Kin who stays in Tanjung Bungah and Chien Chern who stays in Batu Ferringhi out for a little boys chit-chat night and meet-up before I leave Penang. We actually didn’t know where to go. No night market walking because I went there a week before with Chien Chern already. I wanted a place with cheap drinks, with peoples and a cool environmnet, but hardly find any at Batu Ferringhi, especially one with cheap drinks.

People have been talking about the Sixty9ine Mansion, a pub/bistro with swimming pool and lots of sofa, and also DJ for music. It’s a nightlife place, not really a club but it’s a cool hang out place for youngster. I’ve never been there before, curious and we decided to went in to check it out.

It’s pretty but there’s not many people maybe it’s still early. Walked around but didn’t want to look for a seat because we knew it’s expensive, mostly liquor in the menu. No chicks, we only boys, where fun? Haha.

Took some photos and now at least I can tell people I went in before, for photos. LOL. Anyway, if there’s chance, I wanna go there again, for drinks of course.

Right after we left, people like starting to flow in. I thought it’s ladies night and there would be many people but not. Maybe because it’s weekdays and people lazy to go until Batu Ferringhi which is pretty far. If you go there on a Saturday, it’s freaking full and the whole Batu Ferringhi is so jam because of this Sixty9ine.

In the end, we went to Sunset Bistro for drinks, and man’s talk. There’s people curious of what’s man’s talk. Simple, man’s topic – girls, what else? Gaming? Haha. This visit can say it’s my second time going there, the first time was very long time ago already. But have to say, this place is cool! Like it.

    Chien Chern.

    Charging my gadget.

    Cheong Kin.

Although it’s still not the cheapest place we’ve found, but it’s OK already because there’s no more cheap place in Batu Ferringhi. It’s a tourist area and we can expect nothing. Any idea or recommendation of chit-chat place with cheap drinks? Haha.

  • Wesak Day Parade 2010 With Foyi In Penang

Wesak Day Parade 2010 With Foyi In Penang

It had been 2 years that I last joined the Wesak Day parade in Penang. Every year, during Wesak Day there will be floats parade and procession. Devotees walked around the city, with floats of flower and also many people came by to see. I went there once when I was Form 3, it was 3 years ago, last two years was really busy with study and now I am out of school, I get to join them again.

    IMG_1761 by nicholaschan.

Have to be grateful that I was out from National Service (PLKN). I was expecting to meet my NS friends at the parade because they actually would be out to join the walk too but Deputy Komanden last minute didn’t allow them to go. Sigh. No idea why, I just know it sucks.

    IMG_1764 by nicholaschan.
I like the hair and camera.

I drove Kenny there. He came to my place to car pool with me because he was lazy to find parking. The place was Burma Road, somewhere near to Chinese Recreation Club. The whole road was closed on that day because of Wesak Day parade. When I was there, the parade was almost ready to start. I quickly went to the meeting place at CRC field to meet up with the Foyi friends.

Away to PLKN (Day 9): Penang Tiger CNY Miao Hui Until At Night

Chinese New Year Penang Celebration Miao Hui 庙会 post is back again. This time I’ll show about what happened at night. I’ll let the photos speak more because I am in NS and I lazy to write more. So sorry people.

Some people stay there until 11am because there’s fireworks, I went home at around 1030pm already because I was too tired. I was there from 4pm till 10pm, it’s quite long for me, moreover I’ve been there before, so I didn’t want to stay until everything ended.

    IMG_5928 by nicholaschan.

My aim was to visit every corner of the Miao Hui and finally we did, only that we did not see the fireworks.  At night was prettier because there’s the lantern and light. Ideal for photoshooting.

  • Kek Lok Si During Chinese New Year #2

Kek Lok Si During Chinese New Year #2

During the 15 days period of Chinese New Year, Penang most famous pagoda temple lighted up with lots of bulb and LED. It’s a good place to visit during Chinese New Year and a good spot of photography for amateur and pro. Well, I went there twice during CNY because the first time was not really in the mood, it’s just walkaround and simply shoot.

    IMG_6578 by nicholaschan.

Then I decided to go again with Alvin for a serious shoot. I don’t want so many people to shoot together because shooting need to be relax, I feel stress when people is around, unless, they don’t mind waiting for me to wait for the shutter. Hehe.

IMG_6587 by nicholaschan. IMG_6593 by nicholaschan.

It’s a nice place and super nice when the lights are on at night, but sadly, it’s only on during some Chinese occasion. Not on normal days though, this suck a bit. It was like day 13 of CNY, people has already got back to work but there’s still many people coming up there.

Luckily I was early, no traffic jam and found a nice parking spot. If we were to go up like at 8pm, then it’s bad already, it will be a long line on the winding road.

    IMG_6595 by nicholaschan.

    IMG_6603 by nicholaschan.

My purpose of going there was to shoot, sorry for didn’t really pray. =)

    IMG_6617 by nicholaschan.

Since it’s early, we wait and wait and wait till 7.30pm like that, it’s lights on. Everything became different. Pagoda and surrounding changed from beautiful to more beautiful.

IMG_6641 by nicholaschan. IMG_6640 by nicholaschan.

So there’s me and Alvin, two amateur, shooting here and there. He shoot his and I shoot mine. Met some nice pro photographer too who gave us some nice advice. Looking around, there’s like so many people have a DSLR nowadays. Last time, I was like the first who own a DSLR among my friends and now it’s not something special anymore, everyone can afford one, and everyone loves photography.

    IMG_6657 by nicholaschan.

    IMG_6658 by nicholaschan.

    So many lights, so pretty!

    IMG_6664 by nicholaschan.

    IMG_6668 by nicholaschan.

We paid for the return trip of the lift this time. It’s RM4 for return and last time was RM2 for one way. Last time it was late, we only get to go up and not down. This time we were early, so it’s up and down. It’s even much nicer up there with the very huge giant Kuan Yin statue.

    IMG_6669 by nicholaschan.

There’s like a little garden there too, this place is more crowded than below. It’s people everywhere! And with the nice windy surrounding, it doesn’t feel so warm up there. Temperature nowadays are so high in Penang! Mother Earth is dying?

    IMG_6671 by nicholaschan.

    IMG_6677 by nicholaschan.

    IMG_6680 by nicholaschan.

Happy that I get to go as close as the Kuan Yin statue this time. Last tie was because that we were late and lights off, so nothing to see up there.

    IMG_6682 by nicholaschan.

There’s like bowl surrounding the Kuan Yin statue and devotees and exchange RM11 into coins and put the coins into each bowl to wish for a good luck in everything. Interesting, all the money donated goes to the building fund of the Kuan Yin statue. This Kuan Yin statue has been in renovation and building for don’t know how many years already and till now, it’s still not done yet. No idea why. But something I know is that it’s almost done.

Kek Lok Si During Chinese New Year #1

Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang most famous pagoda temple, also very famous with big big Kuan Yin statue in South East Asia, perhaps Asia. During the past 15 days of Chinese New Year, the temple was lighted up with lamps and LED at night. The only problem is that they only light it up during the Chinese New Year and not during normal day, no idea why and don’t like not lighting up during normal days.

Road towards Kek Lok Si temple was jam with cars going up to the temple every day for the past 2 weeks. I wanted to go there to take photos for a long time already, and I have got chance. Why Visit Number 1 because that I went up twice, this was my first time, with the Leo Club people and I was there late, so didn’t take many photos.

Stupid traffic jam made me stuck in the car for almost an hour. It’s really that crazy, the road is so narrow and we were hanging there. Reached the temple at around 10pm and it’s late already. Didn’t really have the mood to shoot and there’s too many people, I don’t like people without camera waiting me to take photos, because they will be just standing there looking at me with the tripod. So, I thought of going there the other day.

More over, due to time constrain, I can’t shoot the whole Kek Lok Si, every corner of it.

The Leo Club people was Lion Ong Lai, Kok Sheng, Tze Yang, Tee Jin, Him Keat, Kenny and Wallace. Some were there early already, so they get to shoot more, and for me, who were late, only get to shoot a little.

We took the lift up to the Kuan Yin statue there, unfortunately, it’s late and we only get to go up but not down. Paid RM2 for it and met a long-time-no-see friend, Ah Leng.

Got up but didn’t get the chance to go near to the foot of Kuan Yin statue and when I wanted go up, they closed the lights already. OMG, that’s why, I planned to go there again on the other.

Although lights closed, we took some group shot before walking down to the car park, in the dark! Stay tune for the post of my next visit. =)
