SS2 Mall, A New Mall In Petaling Jaya

SS2 Mall or SS Two Mall is a new hang out places located in the housing area of SS2 in Petaling Jaya. I accidentally found this place while on the way out from Tropicana City Mall. Because of curiousity, I stopped by and went to check it out with dearest, Hueisean. It seems empty on the first impression maybe because it’s new, but is’s pretty cool.

It’s not really a shopping mall, it’s something like Straits Quay in Penang, or Sunway Giza in Kota Damansara to be simple. A place targeted to the community around there and housing lots of F&B outlets.

There’s already quite some restaurants opened at there already. I didn’t try any there, guess I’ll go there when it’s more happening and more things to see.

There’s a open space down below the mall. Pretty nice, if there’s live band and cafe, and lots fo people, then this will be a nice place.

Hopefully the place get built up soon so I will have a new hang out place in PJ. Yeah.

  • Malacca Trip: Checking Out The Hang Li Poh Well

Malacca Trip: Checking Out The Hang Li Poh Well

Hello people, I went to Hong Kong last week, but I am not going to talk about Hong Kong this time, I am going to talk about Malacca, the historical state in Malaysia which I went, a week before Hong Kong. Yay. This time was on a road trip with my dearest Hueisean. Was thinking a Valentine’s trip together and Malacca was the destination.

I actually have been to Malacca for a several times, but the pictures were not really clear in my mind because I was quite young and I didn’t take it seriously. Haha. I have look online for information and the phone’s GPS was my guide to the little town down south from Kuala Lumpur.

We started our trip in the morning, without any breakfast as we were hoping to starve ourselves to eat all the nice food Malacca have. The road journey took about 1.5 hours to reach there from Kuala Lumpur. Very easy to go only, just drive south on PLUS highway and exit when sees the Malacca Town sign.

Our itinerary was pretty impromtu, there’s no plan and we go what’s comes into mind first. The first stop was the famous Hang Li Poh Well at Bukit Cina which is known as the older well in the city, built by the Chinese in Malacca long long time ago. I got fooled by the GPS for a few times as it leaded us to a wrong places and thankfully we found the place in the end.

It’s located outside a Chinese temple and it’s just a well, nothing much. Since I am a fan of temple so I wander around the places, not because I am a very religious person, just kinda attracted to religious architecture, they are pretty cool, and peace.

Everything was good but the weather was very hot. We came in from the behind of the temple and the well is located in front of the temple. Passed through the temple gate and we will find a well located in a walled location.

Walking into the walled garden-liked place, I find a well, that’s the Hang Li Poh’s Well or also known as the Sam Poh’s Well. I don’t know what’s so attractive about it. It’s just an old well with no design. Since everywhere on the Internet is talking about it, so I went to check it out. Haha.

After checking out the well, off we go. There’s no shade at the well and we didn’t want to be tanned, so went off quickly. If it’s not hot, I might check out what’s made it so special. Haha.

Off to Jonker Street / Jalan Hang Jebat to check into the guest house after that. =)

How to go: Look for Bukit Cina and you will find the temple. Just park your car by the roadside.

  • Random x Taylor’s Life in 2011

    Random x Taylor’s Life in 2011

Hello guys. It seems like everytime I will start up my post with, “Sorry for not blogging lately and blablabla”. Haha. I am so slow and so out of blogging right now. One thing I want to say is I am not quitting my blog, I love this space, a space for me to share whenever I want, my photos, my life and everything. Just that the enthusiasm isn’t as strong as last time already. Lots of study stuff to do, interaction issues, play, girlfriend, friends and family.

Anyway, I still gonna get this blog updating and keep nickchan.net on the net and Google search. =)

Rasyid bought a new camera and shooting at the cake brought by Arvin from Indonesia.

Since I am writing a post again, I want to give a shout out there, to those Chung Ling High School friends, old friends that haven’t meet for quite a long time, how are you guys? Hope you guys are doing good, so do I.

The guy in blue is Rasyid, one of the first few person I met when I came to Taylor’s last year.

Well, I am just gonna post something random, photos taken weeks ago at here about uni life in city of Kuala Lumpur.

The very famous Farah. Haha. I don’t wanna talk about the famous-ness here. Lalala.

So, it’s a new semester, moved into the second semester of the course and everything is getting on track, and assignment and homework are getting heavier and harder and more sleepless night coming ahead. I think reorganize and rethink my way of study, I think study shouldn’t be hard and suffering, it should be fun. Study smart?

Hello Anastasia! People always just don’t know where her home country is, Belarus, the one between Poland and Russia.

I believe in college and university, there’s always a lecturer that’s very picky, troublesome and perfectionist, which makes work harder. Everyone hates, dislikes or better saying, uncomfortable with him, but I believe he is bringing something good to us. Hopefully he will turn me into a good designer. Do you have a lecturer that’s gives you many troublesome task?

The over high self-confidence MJ from Iran which having a Bieber Fever right now.

“Don’t be sad or angry if your design/idea get rejected because in the real world, it’s a very common stuff, people only pick one for the end product, and afterall, it’s still your design.” Pretty cool huh?

    Vincent from Vietnam

In uni, I learned to swear in Vietnamese, “Dit mei mai” something something, which I don’t want to tell you what it means, because I am unsure about it. Haha. I know it’s “Dit” something. Haha. One good thing about coming over here to study is I met people from different places, both local and International. It’s quite a good experience knowing people from everywhere.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are my study days. That’s all, yet assignment and work filled my weekend. Time management is really an important thing at this time, I am very poor in managing time and hopefully someone can guide me through it. Hehe. So tomorrow I’ll be having class from 10-12. That’s all, but then work. Aduhainya.

Ok, chao! Happy college and university-ing. By the way, Taylor’s has a nice homemade ice cream stall at V Cafe. Yum yum.

I Love Ikea’s Cheap Hot Dog Meal

    P1050356

Funny or not that I just know that Ikea Malaysia has such a low price meal which I super like and love! Unlike the RM10 for 10 meatballs in the canteen inside Ikea, this is Ikea cafe right outside the cashier counter, a place to chill and have some light meal before going home or proceed.

    • RM2 for a curry puff and a bottomless soft drinks.
    • RM3 for a hot dog bread and a bottomless soft drinks.

Where on earth you can find this combo besides Ikea? Even kopitiam is charging RM2 for a can of soft drinks and bakery is charging for RM2 for a curry puff. Ikea rocks man!

    P1050359

After a little shopping at Ikea this afternoon, I bought a combo of curry puff and softdrinks for RM2. I was too hungry and then I add on a hot dog bread and another curry puff. With the bottomless softdrinks, I was full. =)

    P1050358

It’s just yum yum, deliciously low price. Claps for Ikea.

Famous Curry Mee at Lorong Seratus Tahun

    IMG_1527 by nicholaschan.

In Penang, there’s a very famous curry mee at Lorong Seratus Tahun, the road name literally means 100 years lane and I have no idea why is it named so. Most Penangite who love to eat sure knows about this place and the curry mee. Located in an old kopitiam on the corner, the kopitiam has a vintage feel as the owner love Chinese oldies.

    IMG_1531 by nicholaschan.

The spiciness depends on how much curry paste you put in. Nothing much to review, I have to say, it’s good and nice.

  • Dinner At Jemputree Tree House Restaurant

Dinner At Jemputree Tree House Restaurant

On a lovely evening, I went dating with my dearest one, Hueisean at the tree house restaurant on Burma Road, the Jemputree Restaurant. It’s a Malay style tree house serving halal western and local Malay cuisine. I was kinda attracted by the tree house concept and it’s kinda cool and cute.

It was a Tuesday night and there’s not many people at there so we could go up the tree house and for your information, there’s only one tree house seating. It’s actually not a tree house, it’s a elevated platform right under the tree, so it seems to be dining on a “tree house”. Some says that the area need to be made reserve as it’s quite a hot spot.

Anyway, let’s get into the food of that night. I didn’t feel of having local food that night, so I went for western food ala Asian style. I ordered the local famous Chicken Cordon Blue. Surprisingly, the chicken is kinda small in portion. Taste is O-K but too little. It’s kinda not enough for the small stomach of mine.

Next up is a pizza, the Hawaiian Chicken pizza. Wanted to order the four season but it’s out of stock and hawaiian chicken it was. Thin crust pizza with cheesy ingredient. Yummy, but the ingredient doesn’t stick to the bread well.

Overall, the food is OK-GOOD only. It’s just another nice place to chill out with friends of have a romantic time on the tree. =) Beware of mosquitoes.

  • I Love Hong Kong

    I Love Hong Kong

I love Hong Kong, City Where Asian Dreams Are Made Of. =D

    IMG_3555

Oh hello people, I am now in Hong Kong. Yeah, that’s right, the New York of Asia, just so much smaller than New York City but impressive and awesome skyscrapers. No I am not having a school holiday right now, just I am “forced” to come to holiday because university told us that I have a longer break but they changed the break schedule and so I couldn’t cancel my flight and hotel reservation, so again, I am here!

    Street
    King’s Road, 英皇道。

To include my first visit when I was super young, this is my 3rd visit. Although I have already visited most of the attractions, still the feeling of visiting here again and again feels good, and friendly. I just love the atmosphere, the people, the skyscrapers, the MRT, the food and everything. It isn’t expensive afterall, somemore cheap than Singapore!

    IMG_3550
    A little bit quiet here.

Arrived here at about 6.30pm and reached hotel at about 9pm because we took the public bus to save cost. So didn’t check out much, just walked around North Point. Weather was pretty cold on arrival, but the body slowly got suitable with the temperature around. It’s around 13-17 degree celcius here. =)

Gonna wake up early tomorrow early to do some little Hong Kong island tour on the tram while waiting for my brother to arrive here at noon. So good night! Happy last day of Chinese New Year too!

  • Chew Chew Chow Tofu (Stinky Tofu) At Taman Connaught Pasar Malam

Chew Chew Chow Tofu (Stinky Tofu) At Taman Connaught Pasar Malam

I went to the famous and longest night market in Kuala Lumpur last Wednesday night and that’s the Taman Connaught Pasar Malam. After visiting the night market here, I felt that Penang’s night market is not that happenings and have less food. Nevertheless, they still rocks as I am a night market fan.

I realized that they do sell the stinky tofu (fermented tofu) here at the night market, which is pretty cool because all the while, I thought these stinky tofu is only available in Hong Kong and China, Kuala Lumpur have them too! At Taman Connaught night market, there’s one famous one which is the Chew Chew Chow Tofu which always has people queuing up for their stinky tofu.

It really smells bad but seeing so many people were in the line, I and my friend joined in too, to find out how stinky they are.

They are tiny fried tofu but with a strong odor. There’s small little pieces and also big pieces of tofus.

Well, just to try out, we bought 4 little pieces. It’s not tofu itself only, but with some sweet sauce and a little bit picked vegetable on top.

So how’s the taste? Just a little crispy thingy, tasted good, but super not healthy cause it’s deep fried and the oil reuse and reuse again. The odor didn’t get that strong after that, perhaps inhaling too much of them. Somehow, I felt that’s it’s not so same as the one I had in Hong Kong few years back, the odor were stronger. Anyway, I am going to Hong Kong in a few weeks time, and I am going to check it out again. =D

My friends Arron and Carmen have a try on it too, and they told me that it’s nothing special, but still tasted not bad or ok-good.

So what do you think? Do you like stinky tofu?

  • Zhi Inn’s 20th Birthday At Fullhouse, Sunway Pyramid

Zhi Inn’s 20th Birthday At Fullhouse, Sunway Pyramid

I wanna talk about birthday this time. =) Few weeks ago, we, the Diploma In Interior Design, Sem 2 people celebrated Zhi Inn’s birthday together at Fullhouse, Sunway Pyramid. If you do not know, Fullhouse is a lifestyle restaurant + boutique, which is beautiful in the inside but food-wise, OKOK. Not gonna talk about food this time because I didn’t eat at there. Hehe.

They was planning to ask Zhi Inn out for lunch, just a casual gathering lunch and not mentioning anything about birthday as her birthday was 5 more days ahead. They planned a surprise, but no surprise. Haha. Why no surprise? It’s because she already saw the cake we passed to the waiter! Yet, it’s still fun.

It was a weekday and we do have class but our class was in the afternoon so we spent some times talking and taking photos at there. Woo. No food for me because money not enough. XD

    Cup cakes are here!

It’s a pretty good idea of having cup cakes as birthday cake becauseno need to cut the cake and each people is allocate nicely with the cakes. =) To be honest, it’s my first time eating cup cakes and it’s awesome.

Tada! Happy birthday! When everyone was there, Wanyi, a friend keep WhatsApp me and ask me to call the waiter to bring in the cake, but quietly and secretly, but the scene of WhatsApp-ing here and there although on the same table and me walking to the waiter looks suspicious. And Zhi Inn saw the cake’s box and in the end failed, which means, didn’t even need to tell me secretly at first. Haha.

We bought cards and gift. Yeah. Even when writting the card on the message also need to be secretly, but somehow, secretly became obviously. Haha.

The girls and boys. A bunch of future interior designers. =D

  • Duty Free Shopping Complex at Betong – Pengkalan Hulu Border

Duty Free Shopping Complex at Betong – Pengkalan Hulu Border

Hello people I am back. Sorry for on and off in blogging lately, it’s pretty difficult to manage my time right now due to heavy assignment load and holiday activities. Haha. As you know I just finished off my Chinese New Year break lately and same as previous year, I and my family will go to Pengkalan Hulu for a Chinese New Year gathering with relatives.

I have to say that it’s still as boring as before, somehow fun a little bit because get to meet all my relatives and cousin that’s long-time-no-see.

Because of boring-ness, and nothing-to-do, we went to the Duty Free Shopping Complex by the border of Betong, Thailand and Pengkalan Hulu, Malaysia. Pengkalan Hulu is a suburb super little small town in Perak, near to Thailand and it’s super duper peace. It’s my grandma’s hometown. =)

So back to the Duty Free Shopping Complex. Didn’t expect much, it’s just taking a little time off from sitting in the house doing nothing. The shopping house was not big but surprisingly people come and go. Both Malaysian and Thailand.

Since it’s a quiet town and there’s nothing much to see at there. Many chocolate, got clothing also, and also alcohol and food. But not really cheap, except for liquor. Though we, Malaysian cannot buy liquor without tax. Too bad.

Lalalalala. A supermarket in the middle of forest.

    He is my brother. =)

Yeah, Apple. This is a little random post. =) Spent like half an hour there and we went back. One thing, we didn’t bring passport but still get to go through the custom because we told the custom just to visit the Duty Free thing. Somehow, we still can’t go through the Thailand custom. Yo.
