Popular Prangin Mall Was Damn Crowded

Went to Popular at Prangin Mall two days ago with Yiphing just to buy a black hardboard and it was so damn crowded because they were having a moving out sale. Books were very cheap and discount up to 90%. Though, I was not so interested into books lately, I still have books at home that I haven’t finish reading.

The Popular in Prangin Mall is moving out and a new outlet is opening at KOMTAR, just another mall across the street. No idea what this place gonna be when it’s out.

We queued up for like 20 minutes at the counter for just RM3.90. LOL. that sucks. I should have went to the other store at somewhere else.

While I was in KL, my uncle brought me to Klang for Bak Kut Teh breakfast. I always heard that there has a lot of good bak kut teh, but it was just hearing from people mouth and never been there to try before. Finally the chance is here, my uncle lives in KL so he knows the way around. He brought me there for breakfast, the place has like over 20 shops selling Bak Kut Teh and if you are not people around there, you would not know which one to go in.

Alright, the restaurant name is Mo Sang Kor, it’s not a very good looking one, it’s very simple but the food look good.

It’s all pork. Pork leg, the big bone part and also the meat part. When it was served, I felt surprise to see that the Bak Kut Teh was very different with what I had in Penang. The pork meat is big, there’s only mushroom, garlic and pork, unlike here, we got other ingredient like tao pok, fu zhok and more. Another thing is that the soup is not waterish like us, it’s more creamy and it’s very nice to eat with rice. I ate a lot that morning and I will visit this place again. Great.

  • Last Day of Foyi Children Camp 2009

Last Day of Foyi Children Camp 2009

3 days 2 nights had finally came to an end. I didn’t overnight at there because I wanted to go home to study Chinese for my SPM 2009 examination and for that two night of studies, I got C for Chinese. Sucks man. But I don’t care already, life move on.

So it’s last day and I again, woke up early in the morning and drove to the camp site at Kheng Tian Primary School. Kids were happy to see me, they really like to bully me because I looked very easy to be bullied. OMG. They were having mini activities and making little art work. I saw a lot of helpers were asleep or stim stim or blur blur or like not yet wake up, guess they were not sleeping the night before.

They made a calendar with their group photo printed on it  and do some simple artwork. That’s the last activity of the camp. Then it’s closing ceremony and finally it ended. Feel sad because so fast ended and feel sad because the next day is Chinese exam already. Haha.

Very nice that my team did win something. We got 3rd for the dance on the performance night. Woo, seems like what I choreographed was not bad. LOL. It’s lame, but I feel satisfaction.

Bid good bye, autograph session, photograph session then bye bye and went home to read Chinese. So fast 3 days had passed.

Lunch at Esquire Kitchen, Sunway Pyramid

Two weeks ago, I was in Kuala Lumpur and everytime I go to Kuala Lumpur with parents, they sure visit a Chinese restaurant in the mall and that is Esquire Kitchen. It’s a very standard thing for us and every of our visit, we order the same food. Haha. It was the outlet in Sunway Pyramid and my first visit to this outlet because it had been a long long long time I didn’t go to Sunway Pyramid after its renovation.

    Fried longbeans.

    IMG_0277 by nicholaschan.

Brinjal/Eggplant. This is special a bit because they cut it small.

    IMG_0280 by nicholaschan.

花卷 (chinese: hua1 juan3). Steam Scallion Bun, nice to eat with curry or the tung po yok below.

    IMG_0282 by nicholaschan.

东坡肉 (chinese: tong1 po1 rou4; cantonese: tung po yok). My favourite pork dish and it’s good to eat with the bun. Delicious, very.

Yummy! Unfortunately, they’re only in Kuala Lumpur and Penang don’t have Esquire Kitchen. Hopefully then will open an outlet here in Penang.

  • Cheng Beng Meet-up at Starbucks

    Cheng Beng Meet-up at Starbucks

On 5 of April 2010, I applied leave and came back from my National Service Camp. My leave applied quite last minute because I was kinda new there and all leave applied should be like 3 days before the exact day but then we, not I, we applied a day before and the teacher there was like WTF and kinda angry with us cause we were very last minute. But then they couldn’t do anything because we got a lot of people applying last minute and Cheng Beng is important! XD

    IMG_8435 by nicholaschan.

However, I didn’t go to Cheng Beng praying though. It was just sleep and meet-up with usual friends. On that night, missing out Chen Yuen, there’s me, Yiphing, Chai Wei, Arron and Chien Chern and we went to Starbucks at Queensbay Mall, drink coffee, sit down, talk and play Left 4 Dead.

    IMG_8422 by nicholaschan.

That time we were kinda addicted to Left 4 Dead and Chien Chern has the game in his laptop and he brings it anywhere. I didn’t want coffee because I want to sleep at night so I ordered a venti size of hot chocolate, yummy!

  • Famous Ipoh Shredded Chicken Hor Fun (Kai Si Hor Fun) at Thean Chun Cafe

Famous Ipoh Shredded Chicken Hor Fun (Kai Si Hor Fun) at Thean Chun Cafe

Here comes Ipoh food again. I was in Ipoh for fun 2 weeks ago and got to thanks Jee An and Voon Bin for their hospitality and accommodations. They brought us around for food and fun. One of the famous Ipoh food I had was the Shredded Chicken Hor Fun or known as Kai Si Hor Fun in Cantonese.

    IMG_0040 by nicholaschan

This famous shredded chicken hor fun stall located in Ipoh’s old town on Jalan Bandar Timah, more likely known as Leech Street to the local, in an old cafe named Thean Chun.

    IMG_0064 by nicholaschan.

Ipoh’s Hor Fun are more likely the same as our Penang’s Koay Teow except that it’s more smooth and softer when put in mouth. They look the same, but the textual isn’t. Hor Fun to Penangite are something thicker than Koay Teow.

As for the Shredded Chicken Hor Fun, it’s just almost like our Penang’s Koay Teow Th’ng, except it’s a little spicy and there’s shrimp in it. You can find almost similar one on Buckingham Street near to the market there where you order a bowl of clear soup koay teow (清汤粿条) at the curry noodle stall in front of the market.

Talking back about the Shredded Chicken Hor Fun, it looks nice but somehow to me, I still prefer koay teow in it instead of hor fun, everything was good except the choice of noodle. Maybe I am a Penang person and love koay teow more than their hor fun. Anyway, if you go to Ipoh, this is a must try.

I felt like I was a superstar at the Foyi Children Camp 2009 because everyone was asking for my autograph. Haha, but actually it’s not me only, everyone signed each other shirt. So sad I didn’t wear my red shirt like theirs so I couldn’t ask them to sign mine.

Anyway, I wonder do you guys still wear the shirt with all the signatures?

    IMG_0278 by nicholaschan.
