  • Random Walkaround At Bukit Bintang Area

    Best place in Kuala Lumpur.

After residing here for a year in Klang Valley, I realised that life outside the city – the place I am staying and studying isn’t really fun when compare to the city. Klang Valley is just another normal metropolitan city, with the downtown Kuala Lumpur is fun.

I wonder why there’s no beautiful and quality university campuses located right downtown. It would be really great if there is. Haha. Life, fun and study must blends well, with a well and healthy city life. Sunway area is pretty boring for me, all the building looks the same with no colour, it’s isn’t anywhere close to the city where beautifully designed skyscrapers are.

New Apple shop is coming to town, hidden opposite of Low Yat Plaza.

Even though the skyline of Kuala Lumpur is beautiful, when comparing to my hometown Penang, I still greatly like Penang more because of the colours, the people, and the old heritage city. That’s something Kuala Lumpur doesn’t have.

I still prefer Chatime and Gong Cha despite many awesome bubble tea out there.

Penang is colourful with the old colonial styles houses, blends with a little bit of modern shopping malls and buildings. With low skyline, you can see a colourful red tiles roof. Another thing that I fancy Penang is the close-nest to the sea, water, and greens. Kuala Lumpur is just a concrete jungle within a valley with no sea but a little but of greens. That’s the biggest dislike, the nearest sea needs about 45 minutes trip, a beautiful beach needs about 1.5 hours of drive. When in Penang, beach, sea and nature are so near.

    Happy Merdeka Day Malaysia!

Anyway, home will be the best place to be after study.

  • #instagram I Am Back

Blogging on WordPress has caused me a few problems. It’s a good blogging platform when compare to the Blogspot Blogger engine, but I some times favor the Blogspot as it’s fast and easy to blog. I have been having problem with posting link and not auto-saving after updating my blog and finally I have found a solution.

Tomorrow is Friday and it’s no-school day. Gonna do assignment, and check out some good food at Sunway Pyramid and also write my blog! So stay tune and good night. It’s so late. I always try to tell myself to sleep early, but I fail, all the time. =D

By the way, do follow me on Instagram @nicholaschan. =) Have been addicted to this little application on the iPhone lately.

  • 1st Avenue & Magazine Road, Penang – Night

    IMG_1236

Nothing much, just want to say good night to everyone. =) Went to Magazine Road to eat Chinese tang yuan (rice glutinous ball) just now for supper and like the way 1st Avenue Shopping Mall stands in the middle of a heritage city. – Good night everyone.

  • Another Afternoon Outdoor – Muntri Mews

    IMG_1154

Recording life here. I went to Muntri Mews to sit this (Wednesday) afternoon. – Good night for now. I am sleepy, it’s 1.40am to be exact. Feeling stressed and worried as new semester is coming soon! I am pushing myself forward more and more.

  • My Monday Afternoon At Starbucks, Straits Quay

    IMG_1128

Lalala. Why people like to go Starbucks to online? What if you want to go to the toilet and who are going to take care of your personal belongings? Hmm. That’s a really good question and I also don’t know how. Can’t really put trust on the barista too, they might be busy with their word and slip pass the look on your belongings.

    IMG_1122

1 cup of Starbucks Coffee Ice Blended Frapuccinno Java Chips is RM15.50. At home, 1 cup of ice blended Milo is FREE. But people still like to go Starbucks to online. It’s a trend, it’s a getaway from home, and of course, it’s preventing yourself from growing mushroom due to staying at home for a long period.

I spent my Monday afternoon at Starbucks Coffee, Straits Quay with Hueisean. =D Cold and nice music, of course, nice coffee too. It’s not something that I do oftenly.

Question: Do you go outside to online?

  • Hazy Penang And Gurney Drive

Hazy weather had intruded Penang again which ugly-fied the view of the beautiful Penang. The hazy weather have been around for a few days already. Everyday I wake up, I tried to look out the balcony to look for a clear blue sky but the haze disappointed me.

It’s not clear out there. It’s blurish. It’s not fog, it’s haze, it’s warm and it’s smelly. Industrial waste and forest burning are causing this and we can’t really do anything about it. I believe Beijing is in fact more worse than us. Haha.

Luckily, the heavy downpour which happened in the afternoon cleared the sky for some time. So, yay!

Hopefully, it’s big blue sky again so I can go out and take more photos! =D This post is so random. Haha.

  • Straits Quay, Penang #2

My hands have been feeling itchy lately as they keep wanting to press the camera shutter button of my new camera. =D To ease my itchiness, I went to Straits Quay in the afternoon to press a feel shutters on my camera. I haven’t really been there during the afternoon and when the sun is hanging high above my head.

It was a quiet Monday afternoon and Straits Quay was, quiet. Feeling bad for the restaurant and cafe owner as there’s so little people visiting their shops at that time. If it’s at Singapore or Hong Kong, there will be people almost at anytime. Guess Penangites are too lazy to come out to spend time at the cafe or perhaps selfish to buy themselves expensive beverage.

    IMG_0111-1

I went there with my girlfriend, Hueisean. It was windy and the warm sea breeze blows on my face which it’s not really a good time to spend outdoor.

Took some shots of her of course as she had become my spontaneous model. It’s not all about building, landscape and random people anymore. After changing a new camera, my feel in photography is getting stronger again, it’s like boost up which makes me want to takes more photos! =D

Straits Quay is a good hang out place and the concept is great, somehow it’s not really accessible to public as there’s no public transport going there. And the pubs only opens till 1am because there’s residence on top of it, so no live band and late closing, which is not that good.

Anyway, it’s a good place for some better dining experience and a new spot to hang out in Penang.

Heart for LIKE. =D Do press the LIKE button. Weeeee.

  • People’s Court At Sunset

    IMG_0483

People’s Court is one of the oldest flat in Penang, located somewhere near Cintra Street and Campbell Street. It was a place where all people lived happily and a majority of Chinese living there. Until today, the flats are still there with shop lots surrounding the place and now mostly elderly or old Penangite lives at there.

My family always loves to dine at the Chinese restaraunt, Boey Chong Kee which situated right below the People’s Court flat. =)

  • Rainig On Beach Street, George Town

    IMG_0104

is just a random post about the rain during noon just now. It’s kinda nice to see the rain as the temperature have been warm and humid lately. The refreshing rain cool up the heat on the warm earth and brings a cooling effect to us.

    IMG_0109

It’s just like you having a bath after a long workout. Somehow, raining is always not a good thing as it makes people troublesome, wearing a rain coat, carrying an umbrella.

    IMG_0107
The motorcycle vendor has a big umbrella ever ready for his business. Thumbs up.

Luckily, it was a short rain and it wasn’t that big! Hello! =) How are you guys doing?

  • A Short Walk In Heritage Site, Muntri Street

Penang gained the UNESCO Heritage status few years back and the local tourism business is blooming. There’s many restoration work going around in the city and there’s still stubborn owner or heritage building doesn’t want to restore and beautify their property. OMG.

Recently, I passed by Muntri Street and saw some cool cafes and some stylish hostel for tourist and backpackers. Curiousity made me stopped and went to check out the place for a while.

I didn’t really know that there’s so many restoration and heritage stuff on Muntri Street last time. When talked about Muntri Street, I thought about the Teo Chew Porridge shop and the Chinese Thean Hou Temple, that’s all.

But now, my perception towards the street change, it is a very old street, a very heritage streets fill with arts, culture and history, so do hostel, cafes and mini accommodation.

Being a Penangite, I want to appreciate the Penang’s heritage site more and being an interior design student, I have strong feel on heritage architecture, they are really very pretty.

Penang can be one of the top heritage city in the world like in Europe, fill with nice old building architecture, yet the people in Penang have to take up the responsibilities to preserve and restore the old building.

Having an organized and clean city is awesome. Investment comes into the state, better facilities and better lifestyle too! I just love my own hometown so much. It’s so pretty and proud to be a Penangite.

I have trust in the current state government led by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. Looking forward to see Penang in the future where it will transform into the best city in Malaysia. =D
