  • Bak Kut Teh, Random and Bukit Bintang with Arron Lim and Tee Jin

Bak Kut Teh, Random and Bukit Bintang with Arron Lim and Tee Jin

I kinda miss the time back in high school when I update my blog so frequent that friends have become part of my blog content. Haha. I share part of my life in this blog and write about peoples and happenings around me. Sharing is caring, caring is sharing.

Cut the crap and let’s get into the sharing about some random stuff that happened few weeks back in Kuala Lumpur. I went out with Arron and Tee Jin, which both were my classmate 3 years back and thankfully we are still in touch because we are near, one in Sepang (not so near, still nearer than Penang) and one in Kelana Jaya, we meet, occasionally. =D

We went to Bak Kut Teh (sorry not halal a bit) at Klang famous Bak Kut Teh area at night and now only we know that Bak Kut Teh at there don’t really open at night. Haha. We thought that Bak Kut Teh are supposed to be opened at night, till late but we were wrong. Haha. Luckily, there’s still got one opens at night.

After Bak Kut Teh we went to Tropicana City Mall, my favourite place to watch movie because there has GSC and I hate TGV @ Sunway Pyramid a lot, they sucks to the max, expensive die! What a coincident that we met Xiu Xin at there, but he didn’t join us for movie. We watched The King Speech and frankly, it’s boring and I want subtitle. Haha. Hard to listen to English with British accent.

We went elsewhere the next day, it’s a weekend by the way and we met again. Haha. The next day was super random, dinner at Taman Megah that a spontaneous trip to KLCC on the Kelana Jaya LRT, pointless, just go there for fun to take a walk. 3 men. Haha.

As usual, park at Taman Bahagia station because of free parking then we sit LRT train. Haha.

    Test drive at Pavilion. =D

    KFC.

First time checking out BB Park.

You know when coming to Bukit Bintang it’s like going the Middle East because the tourists from Middle East are damn lot and it’s not really nice walking that night because of the warm night weather, really sucks, I prefer staying inside the mall.

    Blue Man

Another thing is I kinda dislike is the five foot path at there is just so dirty. =D

Then we went back home. Hehe. Chien Chern came that day actually and we went to play pool until late midnight.

  • Kuala Lumpur’s Central Market, Petaling Street and Dataran Merdeka with Xiu Xin

Kuala Lumpur’s Central Market, Petaling Street and Dataran Merdeka with Xiu Xin

In the last post, I talk about the Western Market then now I want to talk to something similar here in Malaysia, an art and craft market that is located in central Kuala Lumpur, it’s the Central Market. Haha. With a little curiosity of what’s there, I went to check out the place with a Penang friend, Xiu Xin few weeks back.

    Central Market

He’s Xiu Xin, my high school friend.

Also because of boredness, and don’t feel like staying at home, we went for a walk in town. I am living in Bandar Sunway and I don’t really like it here, I prefer the city, downtown, where there’s more colours and life. Satelite city like these are boring, building are uglys and one more thing, Klang Valley is too big for me. I prefer a small place where everywhere is easily accessible, like my hometown, Penang! Hehe.

We actually took the Kelana Jaya Line LRT and allighted at Pasar Seni, then we walked to Central Market. It’s actually stones throw away from the LRT station.

The building is pretty nice, has some heritage feeling but it’s like crowded with tourists and visitors. It’s another tourist’s attraction in Malaysia, a place targeting tourists mostly, and a minority of locals. We were boring, so we went to check out the place.

Rabbit years for the Chinese! =)

Upon entering the place, you will see many stalls inside selling souvinirs stuff like post card, keychains and more. There’s even a few cafe and restaurant located in there and for sure this place is bigger than Hong Kong’s Western Market that I have visited recently.

I wonder why “whatever” market has to sell arts and crafts and souvinirs stuff, why can’t they sell food? Haha.

Actually there’s nothing much in there. Nothing fancy us, not even the toilet because we need to pay so we didn’t bother to use the toilet. Just walk a round, take some photos, then we were off to somewhere else.

Any nice thing to recommend at Central Market? =)

    Petaling Street

Actually I was not very sure what our trip that day was about. It was just simply walking around the town, talking with Xiu Xin and check out the area. Places came in spontaneously. After checking out Central Market, we went to walk around Petaling Street, the so called Chinatown for Kuala Lumpur. Actually the whole Malaysia is a Chinatown already. Haha.

Xiu Xin actually didn’t really come to this place for a long time, so I brought him around the place. The last time I went was to check out a basketball competition in town. =D

Despite all these signage saying no pirated and imitation products, but they are still everywhere on Petaling Street.

Loong Kee’s bakgua is awesome. Hehe.

Randomly found a Chinese temple. LIKES!

    Merdeka Square / Dataran Merdeka

Next up we continue walking, from Petaling Street to don’t know where. Then we saw signs pointing a side to Dataran Merdeka, also known as Merdeka Square, so we walked to that direction.

Well, this is quite new to me. I only passed by the area in car but never really walk by this place, so it’s quite fun and exciting. Luckily the weather that day was not that sunny, a little bit warm, a little bit of perspiration breaking out from the body, but it still good.

This place is actually where the father of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman announced the Independence of Malaysia. Notice the brick building on the right, it’s one of the famous building in Malaysia, it’s Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

Well, after that, there’s no more. We went back, but actually we went to KLCC to look for some stuff only go back to the LRT station where we came from.

The Masjid Jamek Station is the interchange between two lines, Kelana Jaya and Ampang Line but very sucks is that they have to walk across the street to change line. What a lousy Malaysian public transportation.

Justin Timberlake?! What the hell and notice UIA is actually stands for International Islamic University. LOL.

Above are some extra photos taken while walking to the LRT station. Seriously, I don’t even know how we get there. If were to ask us to go back to Pasar Seni LRT, I think we couldn’t make it, cause we had forgotten the path. Haha.

  • Hueisean and Friends at Kek Lok Si Temple

Hueisean and Friends at Kek Lok Si Temple

Last year, I went to photoshoot at Kek Lok Si temple twice, one with the Leo gang another time with Alvin because there’s not much time on the first visit so we planned a second visit to do some serious photoshooting of the famous Kek Lok Si pagoda and temple in Penang.

The reason of us shooting the Kek Lok Si temple during Chinese New Year is because that the whole thing light up nicely with decorations during that period.

This year, I didn’t have the feeling to do same thing because I did that last year already. I have already shoot most of the thing at Kek Lok Si temple, except a whole Kek Lok Si view which have to be taken far away from the temple.

Although have already did photoshoot last year, but I still visit to the temple this year because of the beatifulness and awesomeness.

What’s different here this year is I went up with Hueisean and her friends. Who is Hueisean? She’s my girlfriend. Oh yeah. Haha. So in the series of photos below, you will see a lot of gorgeous photos of her. =D She has become my subject of photography lately, a free model. =D

Why not? She’s cute, she’s pretty, has a youthful, cheerful look.

I went there like 3 days before the end of Chinese New Year and still the road up Kek Lok Si as usual jam during that time. Kek Lok Si temple has the most visitor during Chinese New Year of all of others time of the year. Everyone come to Penang goes there, Everyone who is from Penang goes there. It’s a must visit spot during Chinese New Year.

    Yonye on the camera.

People pray but I see most people were up there just to join the fun, and also take photograph.

This year had some special case happened at the temple as one kid like 18/19 years old hit an old lady while reversing his car. Without apologizing or checking out how’s that old lady was, he scolded and shouted at the family of the old lady. Someone took the video of the happenings and posted on Youtube and Chinese newspaper reported about it. Damn, why youth today so no manners one.

    Minvoon on the right.

    Zuen with a messy hair.

    Kwangliang with the camera.

Chiawen, Szugeng, Weiling, Zuen, Hueisean, Minvoon and Cymin.

    Weiling on the right.

Oh my instax. Any idea where have cheap instax mini film?

Photos photos all night long and the breeze up there were kinda nice because it’s after a rainy day. So if you have a chance to visit Penang, do check out this place. =)

  • Zhi Inn’s 20th Birthday At Fullhouse, Sunway Pyramid

Zhi Inn’s 20th Birthday At Fullhouse, Sunway Pyramid

I wanna talk about birthday this time. =) Few weeks ago, we, the Diploma In Interior Design, Sem 2 people celebrated Zhi Inn’s birthday together at Fullhouse, Sunway Pyramid. If you do not know, Fullhouse is a lifestyle restaurant + boutique, which is beautiful in the inside but food-wise, OKOK. Not gonna talk about food this time because I didn’t eat at there. Hehe.

They was planning to ask Zhi Inn out for lunch, just a casual gathering lunch and not mentioning anything about birthday as her birthday was 5 more days ahead. They planned a surprise, but no surprise. Haha. Why no surprise? It’s because she already saw the cake we passed to the waiter! Yet, it’s still fun.

It was a weekday and we do have class but our class was in the afternoon so we spent some times talking and taking photos at there. Woo. No food for me because money not enough. XD

    Cup cakes are here!

It’s a pretty good idea of having cup cakes as birthday cake becauseno need to cut the cake and each people is allocate nicely with the cakes. =) To be honest, it’s my first time eating cup cakes and it’s awesome.

Tada! Happy birthday! When everyone was there, Wanyi, a friend keep WhatsApp me and ask me to call the waiter to bring in the cake, but quietly and secretly, but the scene of WhatsApp-ing here and there although on the same table and me walking to the waiter looks suspicious. And Zhi Inn saw the cake’s box and in the end failed, which means, didn’t even need to tell me secretly at first. Haha.

We bought cards and gift. Yeah. Even when writting the card on the message also need to be secretly, but somehow, secretly became obviously. Haha.

The girls and boys. A bunch of future interior designers. =D

  • 1st Day Of 2011 At Tao Auto City And Snow At Sunway Carnival Mall

1st Day Of 2011 At Tao Auto City And Snow At Sunway Carnival Mall

The first week of 2011 new year has passed, I want to wish you all Happy New Year, Happy One Week. =D Today I want to talk about a part of the happenings on the first day of 2011 which falls on a Saturday, last week of today. Last year, I can’t recall where I went, the first day usually simple and just a normal day to me because the night before was a blast, late sleeping and stuff. Rested for the whole morning and afternoon on the first day, then I went to Tao Japanese Buffet at Auto City with the Leo Club friends.

It had been some times I didn’t go out in a such a big gang already. The people present that night has total of 25. Woo. It’s actually also a surprise celebration of someone which you will see down below.

We went for the early session which starts from 5.30pm until 8.30pm. It’s eat-all-you-can buffet style where you order as much as you can and they will serve you. The last visit was March 2010 to celebrate Zhen Yuen’s birthday at there.

This time wasn’t so enjoying because there’s too many people and the waiter couldn’t serve each of us well. Food came in very slow and the 2 side tables beside the main one always get neglected, turn up people sitting beside, like me has to steal food from the main table. Haha.

Met friends that haven’t been seeing for sometimes, met new friends that I never see before. But it’s kinda nice dinner because everyone can sit down, chit chat and jokes about stuff.

Then the birthday cake came in out of no where. I didn’t even know it was a birthday surprise celebration for 18 years old Tict Chyn and the birthday cake just came in suddenly.

Her birthday was actually 5 days later but it’s an early surprise celebration. Not bad. We get free cakes to eat. =D I am not sure Tao got expensive or it was a public holiday, a person costs RM58 after +, expensive? I thought last time was around RM50. Hmm.

    Me, Joel and Jocelyn.

After eat, after desserts then it was a little bit of photo session. Didn’t really take much photo because there’s 3 more DSLR on-site and they are better photographer than me. Me is just life-logging. Haha.

    Cindy!

    Caster, me and Daniel.

Kah Sing and Lansi Jocelyn. =D

Cindy, Jocelyn, me, Min Xiang, Kah Sing, Yi Jun.

It was still early after having our super full dinner. It was just 8.30pm and we have no place to go and out of no where, a voice said “To Sunway Carnival Mall We Go”. And so we journeyed to Sunway Carnival Mall. I was so gladful that I arrived there without using a GPS. =D The reason I was not using a GPS was because I am pro, no, it’s because I couldn’t find the POI on it. Haha.

    162691_489619766961_621186961_6596231_7290338_n

Walk around the mall pointlessly, simply walk and talk and do stupid things like talking loud in Parkson shopping centre. Then we stood still at the centre atrium for 5 minutes, less than 25 people mini flash mobs. I can’t resist myself to smile during that time but still turn up to be a nice effect in the mall. =D

Then suddenly it felt warm because of 2 spotlights at the ceiling and in a suddenly, white floss coming down from the sky, no it’s not snowing, it’s snowing, no it’s not snowing practically, but it’s snowing, fakely.

A nice scene and moment of form-made artificial snow drop down from the ceiling. It’s beautiful.

    Happy New Year people. =)

  • New Year Eve at Penang’s Straits Quay with Hueisean and Friends

New Year Eve at Penang’s Straits Quay with Hueisean and Friends

Well, New Year is here and today is the third day of the new 2011 year. Yoyoyo people, how you guys have been doing today? Today is also the first day of school, work and almost everything, but my college is starting in one more week time, so I still get some time to sit down and rest and sleep and eat. =)

So, let’s talk about New Year’s Eve. Christmas’ Eve was a sick day for me as I fell sick and stayed at home to rest but for New Year’s Eve, I have recover from all kind of sickness and ready to rock the new year. I went to the latest seafront promenade in Penang, Straits Quay with my dearest one, Hueisean and her friend to countdown for new year.

We actually want to dine at other place rather than at Straits Quay but due to scare of stuck in a massive countdown-fever-crazy traffic jam, we might as well just dine there and wait for countdown. Save petrol and also prevent from traffic jam.

We arrived there at around 8.30pm and the carpark was already almost full and luckily I found a nice spot to park the car. A crowd of people were already walking at there.

Unfortunately, it’s only restaurants and not many shops opened yet, so it’s only eating out and enjoying the live band by the sea. There’s quite many people at Straits Quay, probably due to people already fed up and boring with the usual countdown place like Gurney Plaza, Upper Penang Road and Queensbay Mall. With the opening of Straits Quay, it given another choice for people to countdown and hangout before the new year falls.

One sad thing was that we spent almost half an hour to search for a right restaurant, some was too crowded and some was just offering “New Year” menu which is rather expensive, in the end, we spent another half an hour for queuing for Secret Recipe restaurant.

After dinner, we just went to walk around the seafront. It’s people everywhere and it’s pretty hard to look for a nice spot to sit down. The centre stage where the performance are was too crowded with people and the place was really small, not a nice place to set up a stage. If it’s on the sea then it’s awesome. Haha.

They even set up screen showing live action on the performance stage on both side of the quay. I think it’s kinda cool but I feel not many people would pay attention at it. One bad thing about that night was the weather was bad, it’s a wet night and it drizzle lightly once in a while.

It’s not only Hueisean and friends that night, I also met some of my high school mate that night. It seems like many people came to Straits Quay that night.

We photoshoot at there, see the girls camwhore, shoot here shoot there to pass time and wait for the countdown to arrive. One thing I got to say that the MC or DJ at there was not good enough, didn’t really bring up the atmosphere IMO. The countdown starts when we here 10, 9, 8 …

And happy new year! The best part of the night was the fireworks, it’s not a very tall one but lovely fireworks by the sea. The beginning part was OK-good, and the ending was awesome. It lasted for several minutes, it’s not the best but still nice to me. People were like screaming and cheering at there.

After the fireworks, it’s playing of some hot club tracks, blasting through the huge speaker. Above the Straits Quay are the residences and resident there probably didn’t get a good rest after the countdown. Haha. Spent some times at there then we went home already.

My brother who is in New York right now wanted to countdown and see the ball drop at Times Square but due to the long wait from 3pm to 12am, he decided to spend the time somewhere else and went to play with snows at the Central Park. Seems cool right? He told me that one who went in Times Square must wait till night and not easy and probably not able to go the washroom because there’s no washroom! Woo.

So, how did you celebrate your New Year’s Eve?

  • Gift Exchange Party at Anthony Tan’s Place

Gift Exchange Party at Anthony Tan’s Place

Last week, my tuition teacher, Anthony Tan who taught me Maths and Science had a gift exchange party at his place. His place is not a typical house, but some sort of entertainment house IMO with KTV, snooker, TVs, food and more. Anthony is always a teacher full of respect. To be honest, without him, my science and maths wouldn’t get A last time during high school already. =)

    So many gifts!

I thought it’s a Christmas + New Year themed party but in fact, it’s just a gift exchange party for fun, a party to relax before school reopens on the 3rd of January for most of the people. So each people present brought a gift worth at least RM18 and trust me, there’s many funny, stupid and lame present. It’s not really exchanging for something awesome, but for something funny, and great laugh.

I brought something simple, a headset worth RM18 exactly. Haha. Didn’t really think thoroughly about what’s funny and lame. There’s people giving toothpaste worth of RM18, a pot of flower worth of RM18, hanger worth of RM18, hammer worth of RM18 and they are really lame.

Best gift that night was a RM100 cash, but only a person got it. In the mean time, I get to talk with my old primary school friends and high school friends who were there too!

    KTV.

Anthony really has so many student and it made me felt old that night because most of who were present are younger than me. OMG. Haha.

    Primary and high school friends.

    Airplane in a home.

    Garden in a home.

Talk talk, play play, watch watch TV and that’s the entertainment of the night. =)

    Happy New Year! =)

  • Video: Hiking To Moongate

    Video: Hiking To Moongate

I went to hiking again last week with Merritt and Kenny this time. And this time, I brought my Panasonic Lumix LX5 with me so I could shoot some video clip. I like kinda addicted with video lately, high def video rocks but then there’s limitation on a mini digital camera cause I can’t manual focus and have shallow depth of field. I hope that this year I can buy myself a video DSLR like the Canon EOS 7D. =D

Well, cut the crap and check out the short clip that I compiled with the Apple iMovie.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bIE3ZCz4SQ&w=640&h=385]

And this film trailer style clip. I feel it’s kinda cute. Haha.

  • Meet Up With A Few 2009’s 5SA1 People

Meet Up With A Few 2009’s 5SA1 People

A year has already past from high school. Somehow, I am still missing those crazy bunch of classmate and friends from high school last time. You know, high school is like a playground or theme park where it’s playing and enjoying every day in school. But somehow, time flies and people grows, nothing can turn back time and people can only look forward in life and enjoy to the fullest.

Last week, I went to meet up with Hock Sheng, Yong Chieh, Juan Shong and Young Hean who came back from Phillipines. Yeah, there’s only five of us. Some busy with their thing, some PPK-ed, but at least we met.

We talked and we ate burger there. It’s a place at Bayan Lepas and I have no idea why they picked somewhere so far.

Forgot to tell that they are all my classmate last time during Form 5 a year ago in 5SA1 of Penang Chung Ling High School. So friends, if you are reading this, try say a time and we’ll plan something big, for all 42 of us. =)

  • Monday SS2 Pasar Malam With Arron Lim

Monday SS2 Pasar Malam With Arron Lim

I would like to make this short and sweet because I am super firing right now as I wrote the whole post already but the blogging service didn’t save my stuff and I have to rewrite again. Since I still have many stuff to update, I’ll let the photo speaks can they? =)

I am a pasar malam a.k.a. night market fans, as you know. I visit lots of pasar malam and this pasar malam at SS2, Petaling Jaya is the first pasar malam I visited after I come to KL for studies. KL and PJ are different place at there but to not confuse my reader who are from their lovely place, KL will become the general word of the place I am at.

On a lovely Monday, I went to the night market with my good high school buddy, Arron, who is from Penang also. We went there for dinner, walk walk and also to look for the famous Penang Asam Laksa. Yeah.

Driving from Bandar Sunway to SS2 takes like about 15 minutes provided smooth traffic at Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong. But then looking for a parking at there is haste as we rounded the area for 3 times only can find a parking space by the roadside. A reminder is that keep all valuable thing nicely because you know, there’s all sorts of people. =)

I was surprised to see that there’s pirated DVD vendors at because I don’t normally see them at the night market back in my hometown. And you know I am not a fan of pirated DVD at night market, I prefer… haha, you know… hehe.

Walk around at there and found many special street food like satay, chicken on a stick, mini burger, special taiwanese sausage, lots of bubble tea and more! I super like Taiwanese sausage and bubble tea, wondering when will I get the chance to go to taiwan to try the REAL thing.

One thing want to say is walking at this SS2 pasar malam is a little bit discomfort because the stalls are too closed to each other and the walkway is too narrow as the crowds are huge at there.

The best part of the night was finding the famous Penang Asam Laksa which makes me feel a bit at home at last. The taste is almost different but couldn’t say 100%, but it’s just almost. =) Any recommendation more for night market? Do check out Taman Connaught’s Night Market that I visited too!
