  • White Mask, Concept Presentation

    White Mask, Concept Presentation

White Mask, Concept Presentation – Some random post on my recent happenings at college – Thursday, last. Had a presentation about concept for my latest interior project – office design To be honest, ‘concept’ is the most confusing thing for design student, agree?

I roughly get about 70% about what’s concept is, but generating a unique and meaningful one is still a problem. Hmm hmm. Anyway, don’t care already, will keep learning to improve myself. =D

The white mask people are back! I happened to see them during the last semester and now there’s the new batch of them around the commercial block in uni.
If I am not wrong, this is part of their drama/theater module or something. An assignment I guess.

Presentation, bull-shit session, show-off time is going on, with, one, two, three, four audience. =D Lady in white is my lecture.
    The chilling gang.
    The class.
Here’s me. Thumbs up for me.
  • Cycling In George Town: Bicycle & Motorbike Mural, Wan Tan Mee, Back To Armenian Street

Cycling In George Town: Bicycle & Motorbike Mural, Wan Tan Mee, Back To Armenian Street

Cycling In George Town: Bicycle & Motorbike Mural, Wan Tan Mee, Back To Armenian Street – This is the last post for my Cycling In George Town post series. Last post, we stopped off at Jelutong’s Nautilus Bay, now we head back to George Town for a photo-session with the bicycle & motorbike mural boy, dinner and home!

One good economy fried bee hoon on Lebuh Tye Seen, or local calls it the Fourth Road 四条路
Right in front of Sum Min Primary School.
Our last route was from Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, cut back into Beach Street and to Armenian Street for thesuper famous bicycle 3D mural by Ernest Zacharevic. We have our bicycle, photographing with the mural is a must! This was fun!
Me, Merritt, Charles and Chien Chern.
    Funny Charles and Merritt.
Cool cube with artwork on top.

Telephone booth turned into street art piece.

Old school Swatow Lodging House on Armenian Street.
After this, the next one of course is the 3D mural of boy on motorbike, chased by a dinosaur on Lebuh Ah Quee, it’s just the next street beside the bicycle mural. It was closing sunset and we had our last refreshing break from the fruit juice stall nearby. Freshly squeeze orange juice is just for RM1!
The RM1 fruit juice stall on Lebuh Ah Quee!
    Me and my ride.
    Charles with the motorbike boy.

Last stop before returning the bicycle back to the shop was the famous Wan Tan Mee on Chulia Street! It’s our dinner and meal to recharge our drained energy. We were exhausted. A bowl of Wan Tan Mee (RM3.50) and another glass of fresh apple juice (RM1.50) did nice on regenerating the lost energy of the day.

Awesome twilight with Penang famous hawker food.
    The Wan Tan Mee.
Let’s call it an awesome, tiring, fun, heritage, hot, humid, exploration day for me and my friend. One last photograph session with another ‘boy standing on chair’ mural by Ernest right opposite of Khoo Kongsi before heading home. =)

Interesting heart shape made from straws by unknown artist.
Come cycle in Penang, it’s fun!
  • Cycling In George Town: Esplanade Padang, Chew Jetty, Jelutong Nautilus Bay

Cycling In George Town: Esplanade Padang, Chew Jetty, Jelutong Nautilus Bay

Cycling In George Town: Esplanade Padang, Chew Jetty, Jelutong Nautilus Bay – Our route were unplanned, we just rode to wherever we could think of at that time. We were on the way to Esplanade Padang on the previous post to check out the spicy yet delicious Mee Sotong at the Padang Kota Food Court. Not much stalls opened due to Ramadhan month but it was just nice that both the Mee Sotong and drinks stall were open.

Alright, one plate of Mee Sotong and share among us! Not really hungry, just to try out the taste as introduced by Merritt the organizer. Tasted spicy! But then it’s good with lots of crunchy fried anchovies ikan bilis.

The field, Padang Kota Lama / Esplanade.
    Swettemham Pier for cruise docking.
Tanjung City Marina, docking for yatch. Too bad, no more yatch as most yatch now docks at Straits Quay.
Name check: Merritt, Charles, Yan Chien Chern, Shi Jie,
After a little bit of rest, started our ride again, out of Esplanade and to the famous Chew Jetty. Stopped by at some random carpark by the sea and at Tanjung City Marina before reaching Chew Jetty. The weather was windy scorching hot! Windy from the ride, yet scorching hot upon stopping.
    Charles, Merritt and Chien Chern!

Awesome foreign expats park their little yatch in the middle of the sea. They came to George Town for shopping.
    Little yatch.
Lim Chong Eu Expressway. Speed limit: 80km/h.

Where to, now? Don’t really have an idea, and randomly someone suggested Jelutong’s Nautilus Bay. That’s a bit of craziness as it’s out of George Town, a short section of highway ride on the motorcycle lane. Didn’t bother much and we went there. It was exciting yet dangerous to ride on the same lane with the fast motorcycle as we couldn’t really follow the speed of the motorcycle. What it was just strong gush of wind and sound every moment the motorcycle passed by you. About 10 minutes on the little Lim Chong Eu Expressway and we arrived at the Nautilus Bay, Sungai Pinang, Jelutong.

    Penang’s landmark – Penang Bridge.

Ugly side of Sungai Pinang, what an eye sore look of this place.
Nice network of jogging path and landscape.
Landmark of Nautilus Bay, the 4 tiang (columns).
Hidden Taoist temple of don’t know what.

A new area in Penang, with sea front residential and some shoplots. Some calls it the ‘new Gurney Drive’ Obviously, it has a cleaner sea than Gurney Drive and you can get a good view of Penang Bridge and Butterworth,  Explored a bit of this area, found that they have a good jogging path, we cycled along it and found a hidden temple deep on the other side of the area. Enjoy a bit of the sea breeze and we headed back to George Town, for some photograph with the bicycle mural, motorbike mural and dinner. =) Check out next post.

  • Cycling In George Town: Tan Kongsi, Sekeping Victoria, Beach Street

Cycling In George Town: Tan Kongsi, Sekeping Victoria, Beach Street

Cycling In George Town: Tan Kongsi, Sekeping Victoria, Beach Street – This is a long waited post that I’ve finally got some times to post it up. I’ve taken about 70 photos on this day and I wanted to post them all, so I’ll be dividing this post to 3 post. =D

Cut the crap, a month ago, I was back at home in Penang and went on a cycling in George Town trip with my friends. Cycling is one famous activities in this little city of Penang and more and more people gets their own folding bike and mountain bike. We rented the bicycles at a second hand bicycle shop on Armenian Street for RM10/day, there’s plenty of bike for you to choose, folding, or the big one and I picked a little folding bike with suspension.

Started of around Armenian Street – Carnavon Street without any idea on where should we go, ended up at Tan Kongsi at Beach Street, stopped by a while for photos session.

    Yan Chien Chern.
Merritt Lau, the organizer of the day!

This time we get a good look of this Seh Tan Kongsi. It’s a little clan house with super small neighbourhood of colonial shophouses around and that’s it. Nothing much, round the little place for a couple of round then we go to the other destination. We felt like we were unprofessional cycling kids. Haha.

The next destination is the Jetty Asam Laksa under a tree at Gat Lebuh Acheh, too bad that it was not open, but we manage to catch a cup of Ai Yu Bing jelly refreshing desserts. Yums!
Parking our bike at some random space.
    The desserts and drinks stall.
Where to now? The Esplanade / Padang Kota Lama, but before reaching there we past by a very cool hotel/guesthouse located on Victoria Street – Sekeping Victoria designed by Landscape Architect Ng Sek San. The guesthouse has a unique rundown design featuring very raw material. You can check out more at the website.
Loving the minimal and raw interior of Sekeping Victoria.

Cutting through Victoria Street, we reaches Beach Street, the street with the most British colonial-style building housing bank and financial institution. This is the cool part of Penang where people come here for photo shoot and leisure on Sunday morning where this is a no-car zone during Sunday.

Feels like the UK to you?

    Post Malaysia building.

Next post coming very soon! Going to Esplanade, Chew Jetty, Jelutong Nautilus Bay, and back to George Town in the next coming posts.

  • Sunday, Hock Sheng, Crowded H&M, Sunset From LRT

Sunday, Hock Sheng, Crowded H&M, Sunset From LRT

    Always crowded Pavilion Shopping Mall.

Sunday, Hock Sheng, Crowded H&M, Sunset From LRT – Very random last Sunday with eating pork noodle, doing some gym, head to town with Hock Sheng – high school friend, and took the LRT back. I have been isolating myself for a couple of weeks and it’s time to release myself from my tiny full-of-entertainment relaxing rented room to head to town, breath some fresh air, window shop the shopping mall and eat.

I am weird, I like to stay in the room, and yet I like to go out. Can you explain what do I really like actually? At some point of time, I enjoy staying at home, enjoying the TV, blog, music and Internet, then I am also an outgoing one, check out new stuff, new place, and buy thing. @@

    The queue!
    Very cool interiors.
I want more, please! I shall go to the Europe, the Sweden as I heard it’s even cheaper there, true?

Actually, the main reason I went to town was to check out the newly opened H&M at LOT 10, Bukit Bintang, took the LRT there and not-surprisingly, there’s a queue line outside and luckily it’s not hot and got in in about less than 10 minutes. 3 floors, ground and first floor are ladies’ and the 2nd floor is the man’s.

Amazed, happy, shocked with the low price and choices, I bought a couple of shirts. The price is good! Shirt starts from RM39.90, what do you think? Best of all there’s XS size for little body size like me, but then not much XS/S available. It’s very crowded and happenings, people queuing for fitting room and cashier. I suggest you to go on the weekday or wait for the new one at Setia City Mall @ Setia Alam, Shah Alam.

Standard eat @ Snowflakes – Snowflakes Bestseller Grass Jelly.
Me with the little bag of shirts.
Hock Sheng who used to sit next to me during high school. Just came to KL recently for study.
BMW 650i Coupe – Just got to say, beautiful and I want. So sexy!
Almost sunset from Pavilion bridge to KLCC.
Sunset from Taman Bahagia LRT station. Good bye.
Went to Pavilion for a break at Snowflakes, chit chat with Hock Sheng, talk about some random stuff and his life in KL. Window shopped a bit and then, home we go and I manage to catch the sunset from the LRT station before headed to the carpark. Sunday, that’s it, fun.
  • Mid-Autumn Lok-Lok At Steve’s

    Mid-Autumn Lok-Lok At Steve’s

Mid-Autumn Lok-Lok At Steve’s – Mid-Autumn Festival is often known as a reunion day for the Chinese, but it’s not as important as Chinese New Year’s Eve, so I did not reunion with my family.

So how did I celebrate Mid-Autumn this year? I actually so-called celebrated it on the eve, means the day before at my friend – Steve’s place. To be exact, it was his uncle’s place. Very simple only, they hired a truck of Lok-lok (fish ball, sausage, meat skew steamboat) and we went to eat. That’s it.

No lanterns because the kids took them all. So, it’s us the 4 ma-lat-lous – Steve, Arvin, Wesley and me talking crap and eat lok lok, and with a bunch of Hakka uncle and aunty that I do not know. First time being in a Hakka-community that I know nothing about this dialect.

Thanks for the invite. I’m getting interested with the Hakka-dialect, anyone teach me? Let’s start with vulgar word first (most language learner start with vulgar word, don’t you think so?). Haha.

  • 中秋节快乐 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 2012

    中秋节快乐 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 2012

    中秋节快乐 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 2012.

Enjoy your moon cake, have fun reunion with your family, enjoy all the great food, BBQ, steamboat, beer and talking cock with friends and family, enjoy the round round moon, enjoy the night, enjoy Mid-Autumn!

Another year of spending mid-autumn away from home, nothing much feeling already, it’s just another day of my life, at least I did have mooncake and wishes people here and there. Hehe. I don’t think I will get much chance to celebrate mid-autumn together with my family too, nevertheless I am looking forward to go home some other day.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. Yay. My friend Chien Chern who is in Liverpool told me that ‘外国的月亮真得比较圆, the moon at foreign country is truly rounder’. Wow.

  • Departure To London, Tee Jin

    Departure To London, Tee Jin

Departure To London, Tee Jin – Tee Jin, the name that I knew 5 years ago. My classmate for the last three year of high school, Form 3, Form 4, Form 5, my Leo Club mate, a friend, a source of motivation, sort of an education guider, a good friend. Although, there’s some misunderstanding many years back, yet, he’s good, friend.

    Hock Sheng.
    Khai Liang.
Playing his very new Olympus OMD. What a delicious camera to eat.
London is his next destination, the UK is his new home for the next 3 years, for studies, for travel, for exploration. I and a few friend went to the airport to send him off and bid good bye.
    Tee Jin
I don’t see sadness in me, I see cheer, excitement, perhaps nervous, as it’s good for him to step foot into the global metropolitan of London.

I am envy, I am jealous, and I want to go too! Many friends have already leaved Malaysia, there’s still many people here too, but the heart in me is – leave. No, I am not un-patriotic, I just want to explore, gain, learn, see and share and I am fed up with the Malaysia political scene. Where shall I go? The Singapore, the UKs, I shall plan. My family, my girlfriend, do you want to go together?

Been through this gate many times. Shall try going through and not come back for some times.
Bon voyage Tee Jin, I shall see you soon in the UK, one day, next year, I assume.
  • Petronas KLCC After Dinner

    Petronas KLCC After Dinner

Petronas KLCC After Dinner – I had Korean food last Friday! It was a very-very full Korean dinner for me and I will talk about it in another post. After dinner, I did not want to go home yet, I want to walkaround to digest the food in my little stomach. I was so bloated after dinner and need some exercise.

Since nothing to do, so I went to KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers) for fun with dearest, Hueisean! =) I feel very funny when people were driving out of the carpark at 10.30pm and I was driving in. There’s no other place better than KLCC for a night walk, is there any? =D

KL is not like Hong Kong where you can go to the Victoria Harbour, Sai Yeung Choi St or Causeway Bay for walk, even Singapore has more place to walkaround at night e.g. Marina Bay. KL… Hmmmmmmm.

The Public Bank building looks awesome!
    It’s her!
    Us!
Passed by H&M, Bukit Bintang while going home. People were standing outside taking photos on the day before it opens. Haha.
  • Visit To Setia City Mall

    Visit To Setia City Mall

Visit To Setia City Mall  – It was a random decision on visiting Setia City Mall at Setia Alam, Shah Alam with the dearest, Hueisean! It’s quite a very new mall, located in a very new suburb town of Setia Alam at Shah Alam. Initially, I have no idea where it is, I just though that it’s at Shah Alam.

Set on my favourite GPS – Waze then I followed the navigation. It took me about 30 minutes to reach there. Seems far, indeed. I actually neglected to follow the GPS as I thought I knew the way, ended up it took me longer to reach. DAMN.

Surprised to reach Setia Alam, a very new town in Shah Alam where you can see nothing much at there except trees, newly built residential area, plain ground waiting to be developed and there this Setia City Mall.  I was like – ‘WALAO, THIS PLACE CAN HAS A MALL, GOT PEOPLE WANNA VISIT MEH?’

Parking is quite cheap. RM2/3 hours on the weekend and interesting to see there’s many car here. Once get into the mall, the perception about the area and the mall changed. It’s not very big, but then there’s the crowd and there’s quite many brand!

You can even find Uniqlo and soon-to-open H&M here! H&M just opens at Bukit Bintang Lot 10 by the way. Seems like this is a good place to shop. Not too crowded as Mid Valley, brand choices is OK-good and I bought cloth at there.

Will come back again when I feel really bored, or to getaway from the busy city to relax relax. =D
