Just Finished My Major Project, Exhausted & Recovering

Just Finished My Major Project, Exhausted & Recovering – It’d been a while since I’ve write something personally, nor I’ve updated my blog. No I am not shutting off this blog, or abandoning it. This is a place a where I crap and keep whatever good happens in my life. A place to scream and show off! Now, I seriously can scream, ‘IT’S OVER NOW!!!!’. No more assignment, I’ve just completed everything yesterday, except there will be a presentation on this coming Thursday, but there’s nothing much to worry about as the hardwork is over right now.

I do like interior design, but then the process of acquiring a certificate for this skill was really tiring. It was a two months long of tiring days and nights, lacking sleep and entertainment where my mind was just fully focusing on the work. I don’t really know how to juggle well between work and play yet as it’s all work and super less play for me for the past month! Perhaps the mind was just thinking, ‘Faster finish this and do something else!’.

Initially, before coming to the UK, I thought it would be easy for final year as I’ve done a similar thing in Malaysia during the diploma time, but then I was quite wrong. It’s doing the same thing over again, except with extra bit of upgrade in your work and I can say it’s lack of the fresh new thing to learn about. Well, at least I learned the way of interior design here, and some new skill, and also experience the UK education. To be honest with you, I find that one would acquire more skill in Malaysia than in the UK. In UK, you might learn the creative process and the independent, but in Malaysia it’s more about the skill to survive and work. So, education in Malaysia is quite good in my opinion.

Nevertheless, cutting off the crap, my assignment is now over. It’s time to plan for the next stage of life and also to plan for the coming free days left in the UK! What do you suggest I should do during my free days?

The art of a mess in the room! There’s time that I’ve been in the flat for a week and never step out of the building, but I was OK with that as long as there’s food and Internet. =D

  • Feeling Lost, Something New, Just Do It

Feeling Lost, Something New, Just Do It

Feeling Lost, Something New, Just Do It–  Hi all, it’d been a few weeks since I’ve posted something here, and I guess it’d been quite a long time I write something personal, a thought. Recently, as usual I am and will be so much busy with the design assignments that I’ve, only until end of May I will put an end to it and that’s the end of my interior design study. I don’t know, it seems that as time goes by, my interest and passion in working out on the interior design project has diminish. I feel lost, but I still haven’t given up on it yet as I’m still like looking at beautiful spaces on website occasionally and still love planning clean concept space. It’s just, I’m not as passionate as other interior designers out there. Hmmmmm.

Somehow, the other side of me is unleashing a crave to swim in the sea of entrepreneurship, it’s just something that I’ve never thought of and I hope it’s not too late to get a grasp on it. I was inspired by lots of Youtube videos about startup, and entrepreneurship, e.g. how former Alibaba’s CEO Jack Ma started the company, The Startup Kid & lots of TED talk. The videos somehow trigger my mind to lean away from what I’m doing right now which they were quite motivating and inspiring. It seems like I am enjoying this more than that. Well, I would surely wanted to explore this new field someday in the future (soon that I hope, not today, too much of assignments), yet I still don’t want to dump the skill that I’ve gained in the past 3 years in university about designing spaces for people. What can I do?

The thing about me is the lack of perseverance of doing something (which has been in me for some times and I hate it)t, I realised for anything to success, perseverance is more important than anything else, not to mention courage, and determination. I am not trying to ask for any opinion in this rambling post, nor to tell the world about me lacking perseverance, it’s just that at this moment, I felt that I need to write it down, tell myself that I must work hard and determine in doing something right now, ‘I am 22 years old, I want to do it, I have to do it and I must do it.’, it’s not high school nor college anymore! No more slacking and just gonna get shit done and just do it. When I recalls this post in the future, hopefully I will be proud of myself of later because of today. To those who are lack of the determination to do something, I hope that you can start telling yourself, ‘ fck that sh!T, just do it now’. – Good night, it’s warm here in the UK, just 7 degree celcius, welcome to Spring 2014.

  • Snow In Newcastle

    Snow In Newcastle

Snow In Newcastle – I finally see the first snow of the season in Newcastle after like 2 months of Winter. I thought winter is skipped for this year as the temperature and weather seems pretty constant since Autumn, wet and windy and no sign of snow before this except 5 minutes of hailing back in November, and I also thought that I never get to see snow in my one year study in United Kingdom, and have to go to the SnowWorld @ Genting Highland to experience it, but oh yeah, it snowed just now, for like 10 minutes, stopped and snowed again!

I was working on my assignment, only until my friend text me and told me that it’s snowing out there. I quickly popped my head out of the window with excitement, it’s dark out there, but yeah, it was snowing, heavily. Too bad it was dark, so I didn’t really bother to head out for some photos. Though, I did grab my camera and started shooting and flashing the sky from the bathroom window which has a better view of the bright highway. The road users must be feeling weird and ‘WTF is that’ that there’s flashlights flashing off the window.

It snowed for like half an hour, not much, but hey, at least, I saw snow! I am anticipating Newcastle covered in white snow, hopefully, as it’s not really a common scene. The last time I saw snow was in Zakopane, Poland and Poprad, Slovakia, it was not snowing, but the street and railway tracks covered in snow. For a person like me who came from a tropical country, snowing is like alien thing to me. The Americans might be hating the snow now, but I am looking forward, by this month? =D By the way, do you like it when it snows?

It does looks like rain. I captured this from the window at my bathroom.

A little bit of snow, covering the bench.

    Not too white.

  • My Hostel Room In Newcastle @ Lovaine Flats

My Hostel Room In Newcastle @ Lovaine Flats

My Hostel Room In Newcastle @ Lovaine Flats – In Malaysia, flat is like low-cost flat where you it’s a place to stay with a small living room and perhaps 1/2 room. Sounds, low cost, but in the UK, flat actually means apartment and the hostel I am living right now is call the Lovaine Flats. Yeah. Guess what, it’s actually the cheapest hostel in Northumbria University at £85/week and I don’t get my own bathroom.
Befre. Empty room, with no bedding.
Room is quite OK, location-wise is very good too which is very near to the city, the library and the gym, what’s not OK is there’s only one shower, and one WC! Oh my god, there’s 5-7 rooms in a flat and imagine you are having a stomachache and he/she is having a stomachache at the same time. Die lo.
    Kitchen for 5.
OK, that’s me, in a room with stuff now.
My workstation in the UK. I miss my big monitor screen and an awesome sound system back home.
I don’t mind the room being small, because it’s bigger than the one I stayed in Taylor’s University, I don’t mind the room is not beautifully decorated because I have my own way to make it comfortable. Kitchen is OK, just lack of a good common area. Well, the dining chairs and table are definitely the place for me and the rest of the flatmate to chill. I’ve seen nicer one here but they are way more than mine at over £100/week. So I was thinking, since it’s just a place to sleep, why not save the extra pounds for something else, travel, perhaps?
  • DID Final Semester, Final Presentation

    DID Final Semester, Final Presentation

DID Final Semester, Final Presentation – I am writing this on my lovely leather couch, far away from my college, to be exact – in Penang, at home! College is so far ended for me, the past 4 months was so hectic for me as it was the final semester and I stressed up myself to be the best of myself. I didn’t want to waste my last semester and I just wanted to squeeze out whatever skills I had, that’s why I did not blog for the past few months and to be honest, I was quite stressed up.
Of course, I am relaxing right now, I am grateful that the 3 years Diploma In Interior Design studies is over with flying colours and it’s time for me to move to the next level – continue to the degree program! Yay!
Well, speaking back about the final presentation for my final design studio project, I was actually not nervous about presentation, I actually love speaking out and selling my idea. The stress up part was actually the preparation where you see time was moving so fast and so much more to do. To be honest, I was not very satisfied with the outcome, although it’d been a good one according to my lecturers, yet I still feels that there’s much more space for improvement! Yes, indeed. One of my weakness was not having sufficient research, that’s I admit that and I need improvement in that. Never mind, I told myself I still have a year of Degree study to go, don’t stop learning, Nicholas!

  • Super Crowded At KLCC Park During Hari Raya

Super Crowded At KLCC Park During Hari Raya

Super Crowded At KLCC Park During Hari Raya – I know Raya has passed for a few weeks already, but then I am very free right now, enjoying my lovely holiday and so there’s plenty of time for me to throwback some interesting moment and stuff.
Sharing back about Hari Raya, I believe many people balik kampung to either celebrate the holy festival with their family, and the people who were not celebrating, too went back to hometown for a holiday. Somehow, I’ve decided to stay in Kuala Lumpur during that time as I know hometown Penang would be packed with tourists and people, traffic congestion would be everywhere too.
Very interestingly, Kuala Lumpur was deserted, with so little car on all the major roads. No surprise because many who resides in Kuala Lumpur are actually came from other part of Malaysia. However, if you take a trip down to KLCC, you would be shocked by the number of people at there! It’s the most crowded time of the year, with foreign labour all packed at the KLCC Park, making some uncomfortable moment for me. Moreover, there’s the Popular Book Fair happened at the convention centre, no doubt, everyone cramped in this iconic place of Kuala Lumpur.
Well, I actually recommend people to head to Kuala Lumpur during Hari Raya because during that time, you can be king of the road with no ‘pek-chek’ moment in the traffic jam and enjoy your shopping, but just beware of the crowds at KLCC.
  • Last Night In Kuala Lumpur

    Last Night In Kuala Lumpur

Last Night In Kuala Lumpur – I can’t believe it, tomorrow is the day, the day I’m leaving this beautiful, vibrant, mess, sinful, crimeful metropolitan city of Kuala Lumpur. I did not fancy about this place when I arrived 3 years ago, but as time goes on, the good feeling of fast-moving of city lifestyle pours into me. I am a city-person.
Coming from a small city of George Town, the big city looks fascinating. I was ignorance at first, telling people that Kuala Lumpur is just a mess, places being so far from each other, traffic jams, crimes (yes, fuck that still), expensive food (I hate that at first when comparing food price with Penang’s) and I think just that’s all.
As the time ticks, this metropolitan turns beautiful in my eyes. The traffic congestion actually trained my patience (Penang traffic get worst nowadays and I did not complain much when I drive at home), driving from here to there in Klang Valley makes me realised that Tanjung Tokong to Queensbay Mall is actually very near. Well, food is not expensive in Kuala Lumpur, it’s just that the food is lower priced in Penang and I became generous. HAHA.
There’s so much yet to explore, so many restaurant yet to eat, so much opportunities yet to grab, but the time being here is up. I’ve graduated from my study here. Time’s up for me to leave and check out some new places.  Perhaps in the future, I’ll come back maybe, or not, the crime issues here is just shooing me away! But then I am still young, and energetic, I shall experience more cities. My final destination is still Penang, but in between, let’s say, everywhere big and fast with beautiful skyline.
I just don’t really know what am I crapping; but whatever it is, let’s enjoy the last night with the World’s Tallest Twin Stainless Steel Towers (beat that Burj Khalifa, LOL) – Petronas Twin Towers and good night! I will miss this city and I enjoyed my time.

    I Am Alive

I Am Alive – I just have no idea where to start, but I want to let you know that – i am alive !!!!! Bahhhhhh. 1 month of hiatus, finally I am back! Wait for my come back. Follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and whatever.

Yes, I am looking very good. Mehhhh.
  • A Day In Class

    A Day In Class

A Day In Class – Studying interior design is more about tutorial session where you show your work to the lecturer and get feedback, improve and do better. Some times, you pin-up to the wall, where you share your work progress, ideas with other designers, it’s more like a real-world situation in bigger design firm.
Class can sometimes get bored, long, and slow. What to do? Nap, Candy Crush, surf the net, Whatsapp, looking bored, seriously concentrate at your friend’s work, or at the lecturer? What are you?
3 more weeks till the end of diploma in interior design, let’s do it yo! I am nervous, excited and busy.
  • ROM: Steve + Lihong

    ROM: Steve + Lihong

ROM: Steve + Lihong – So many sad things happened lately, assignments, haze, blackout505, Penang freaking storm that kills, Penang Bridge accident and more. But let’s not talk about the sad thing and share some happy stuff with you. Well, my classmate, Steve has got married with his wife Lihong! Oh, congratulation and it’s not what you think it is. Hahaha. But I am very happy that they get to be together officially, and sweetly.
I was there at his marriage registration at Thean Hou Gong Temple, which indirectly brings me to a visit of this famous temple. Is the temple nice? Sorry, Kek Lok Si in Penang is so much better than that. HAHA.
Marriage registration thingy was pretty fast, and it’s simpler than I thought. I thought it’s something very complicated, but it’s just signing a few papers, read the vow, say ‘I Do’ and done. The rest of the time was just waiting and taking photograph.
It’s just another happy thing in life, if you ask me about marriage thingy? Well, I just feel that it’s still so far away from me, I want to get settle down in a place first, get indulged in a nice career, earn the first pile of gold, get a house, then, this is it. Haha.
Anyway, congratulation to Steve and Lihong. By the way, what is the ideal age to get married for you? =D
