MUJI Is Coming To Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur – The minimalist design lifestyle Japanese shop – Muji has finally arrived in Malaysia after so many years. I am a fan of MUJI although the price is rather expensive, but the simplicity of the design is just awesome. I like the stationery the most, can’t wait to visit it in April 2012 at Pavilion to do some shoppings. Last time in high school, my pencil case was full of MUJI pens that I bought from MUJI Singapore + Bangkok.

Christmas Decoration At Pavilion Shopping Mall, Bukit Bintang – Christmas is around the corner right now and it’s happening in less than a month time. This goes to Chinese New Year as well because the coming Chinese New Year is coming very early in January (normally February). I am so excited for both of the festival as they make me feel very relax and happy.
I went to KL downtown few weeks back and went to walkaround the famous Pavilion shopping mall. Surprisingly the put up the Christmas decoration early in early November, The decoration is very beautiful with lots of Christmas trees placed around the main atrium.

KLCC And KL City Walk – Few weeks back, I went to Kuala Lumpur downtown alone and armed with a camera. I drove to the LRT station, parked my car there and took the public transport to town. I didn’t want to drive to downtown because I am very sick with the traffic congestion and also don’t want to pay for the expensive parking fee, so I went for public transport.

You know, the week before I went to KL, I drove there, it took me 1 hour plus to reach the Chinese VISA Centre at OSK Tower a.k.a. Bank Of China at Jalan Ampang from Bandar Sunway, from there, it took me another hour to reach Bukit Bintang. It’s really sickening. Only then I know there’s a LRT station right below the place to do the Chinese VISA, so it’s pretty convenient for me to take the LRT.

Woohoo, I am going to China for travel soon, so I need to do VISA. Because I was in KL at that time, so I went directly to the Chinese VISA Centre to do the VISA. Normally if I am in Penang, I would just drop my passport at the travel agent, of course extra charges will be applied, and take a longer time too. One thing, please don’t go to the Chinese Embassy on Jalan Ampang, they don’t do VISA there, you have to go to 2nd level of the OSK building.
After I’ve done with the VISA thingy, I went to Bukit Bintang area for a little walk and look for lunch.
#5. The real Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Dessert in KLCC just opened not long. There’s also a dessert shop with similar name in Penang named Tang Bo Fu. Haha.
Although Ampang Park Station (Chinese VISA place) and KLCC Station is just one stop away, but I was so lazy to walk so I take the LRT back to KLCC, alight and start touring around the place.

From KLCC, I started my journey walking from the shopping mall to the convention center, where there will connect me to Jalan Kia Peng to Pavilion shopping mall and then to Bukit Bintang area.

#9. Didn’t get a chance to walk on the air-conditioned underpass.
You know there’s actually an underpass from Suria KLCC to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The funny thing is the underpass is located in the car park where air-conditioning is not available. And now, they have started to construct a air-conditioned walkway for the underpass. They should have work it out earlier!

Normally, going to Pavilion need to pass through Jalan Kia Peng and you have to walk under the sun and rain. Now they are building a air-conditioned bridge which connects KLCC to Pavilion shopping mall which is very good! They only opened part of it so it’s not fully connected to Pavilion. I was curious, I went on the bridge and see where it’s connected to at the moment.
It brought me to Corus Hotel, I went down the bridge and found a new hotspot in town – the KL City Walk.

KL City Walk has a many restaurant located in a alley in between office blocks. Originally, the KL City Walk is just a lorong or lane behind office blocks. It’s then converted into a walking street featuring many restaurants for dining pleasure. It’s a very good idea of converting ugly back lanes into place like this.

You can find many office worker dining here during lunch hour and tea time. It’s a hidden spot in town. I wouldn’t have know this place if the connecting bridge from KLCC to Pavilion doesn’t exist. Haha.

Look Out Point, Ampang – Have you ever wonder where to get a good and magnificent view of the big capital of Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur? It would be Look Out Point at Ampang. It’s not very far from town, on a little hill and at there you can get a wide perspective of the whole city and it’s really a nice place to chill.
What you will be seeing is not anything like the cityscape of Hong Kong or Singapore because the place is kinda far from the city centre and so, the cityscape became tiny and far.

Look Out Point is only accessible by road and at there has a various restaurant serving western and local cuisine. I have visited Haven Restaurant with dearest, Hueisean on a Saturday night but the food wasn’t that awesome. What’s great was the atmosphere and the awesome view.

Driving there take a bit challenge at first as it doesn’t show up in my GPS device, but if you follow Google Maps, you can arrive there easily and the road accessing Look Out Point has no lamp, so it’s just lights from the vehicles on the road. =D Parking is rather cheap at RM2 per entry and you can opt for valet parking at the top for an extra RM3 but you probably difficult to get one as the parking always get full on top. We park our car down there and walk up the stairs, tiring a bit, yet fun with a little breezy wind.

Bandar Sunway Shuttle Bus On Fire – It was afternoon time where lunch time just passed. I had my lunch at Ming Tian Kopitiam right next to The One Academy and while on the way out, heading towards Sunway Pyramid for a little grocery shopping, I spotted a crowd of busybodies near the road and I detoured myself towards the busybodies and made myself one of them too.
I was behind the bushes, didn’t want to go close because not wanting to hurt myself, but the important is be a smart a caring busybody that doesn’t block the rescue work.
There were smoke, police and lots of busybodies, including me. The free shuttle bus provided by Sunway which ferries people around the area caught a fire. I didn’t know how, the fire was in the bus. The smoke of burning were coming out from the bus, non-stop. I walked closer, it’s burned, pitched black in the bus, sort of like interior BBQ.
Many fire extinguishers were used but somehow the fire couldn’t be put out. The fire fighters were on the way there, I saw them right across the road, U-turning to the place. I was afraid that it was gonna explode, and I walked back to Sunway Pyramid. Luckily no one was injured. Yeah, great, good, woo, ok, end.

Nine Emperor Gods Festival At Ampang – Two weeks ago, I went to Ampang with my friends from Penang – Arron and Tee Jin to go check out the Nine Emperor Gods Festival here in Kuala Lumpur and also to pray. In Penang, it’s a very happenings festival which attracts lots of tourist and devotees to join the procession and praying and I would like to see how the festival is celebrated here.
#2: Looks like pasar malam and the temple is ahead.
The location of the temple is at Ampang and it’s the place I know that’s famous for this Nine Emperor Gods Festival in Kuala Lumpur. GPS was our guide to the location it took about half an hour from Kelana Jaya to there. Traffic was pretty smooth that night. Everything went smooth.

The temple is located in a Chinese village, and it’s kinda cool that there’s still village located so close to city.
#4: The stall says that he know your surname and your luck, sort of like fortune teller, but after checking out how he did it, it’s actually works like a formula. He shows people a series of card with a number of Chinese’ surname in it, you will be asked with question of whether your surname is in the card or not. After a few times of asking, he will then tell you your surname. Then he will pass you a paper writing your fortune. HAHAHA. RM10 for per “game”.
#5: A Toaist sifu giving a sort of like a talk show, telling people to see some number and stuff, but after 5 minutes of seeing him, I have no idea what he was trying to sell.

Well, upon arriving, I got to say, it looked totally different from the festival in Penang. There’s many people, it’s very happening at there, people kept flocking in, there’s people praying in the temple, but what’s difference is it’s like a night market, there’s many stall selling stuff like DVDs, cloth, street food (vegetarian), toys, collectibles and more! It’s more like a carnival to me.

#8: Mini auction selling collectible, all started from RM5. It’s an eye opening day because I never see this kind of auction before and the seller claim that their collectible worth few hundred bucks which I don’t really believe, I think it’s just another “MIC (Made In China)” stuff.
The night market thingy had been there for nine days and it was the last day. In Penang, you will only see yellow banner vegetarian food stalls for nine days and all the Nine Emperor Gods Temple lighted up for nine days, but you won’t find carnival stalls like this at there.
#9: Another auction stall at there. This one started at RM2 with smaller item and I think there’s people of them hiding themselves among the public to try to raise the price. We did try to raise our hand for fun with the maximum bid of RM10 for 3 of us. And we actually bought ourselves a mini Fu Lu Shou. HAHA.

We traveled through the seas of people to check out what’s there. Quite many street food in vegetarian style, there’s toys, there’s pirated DVD, there’s fortune teller, there’s clothing, there’s Chinese opera, and there’s lots of people.

After checking out the “pasar malam”, we went to the temple area to pray. We was actually waiting for procession but I wondered where could the procession goes. Normally, at this time of time, about 10pm, in Penang, there would be a procession of sending the Nine Emperor Gods back to the sea, but at this place, Ampang, sea is so far away.
#16: It’s quite warm at here because of the burning, but luckily it rained before we came so the temperature around wasn’t that warm at there.
So we asked the people around and found out that there’s no sending the god back to the sea, but there’s actually sending the god back, at about midnight 3am, which we didn’t really get to see.

#19: In the temple, it’s very crowded and smoky with all the smoke of the joss stick filling the air. It’s quite irritating for eyes.
We bought the set of joss stick and candles and we prayed. It was really crowded, the smoke was really very heavy, it’s not easy to walk around the temple, it’s best to wear a goggles around.

After praying, we went back. I’ve got to say, the festival of Nine Emperor Gods in Ampang and Penang are totally two different thing. At Ampang, you stuck on one place, you only buy and pray, whereas in Penang, you follow the procession, you snap photograph, you see the Chinese-style Thaipusam and you walk. Nine Emperor Gods Festival And Temple Location – Since I’ll be visiting the Nine Emperor Gods Festival at the Nine Emperor Gods Temple in Ampang, so I would like to share with you the location of the temple in Ampang so you can visit it too! It’s my first time going there, so I don’t really know the way, GPS will be my guide that night. A Visit To KL Tower (Menara KL) – KL Tower is one of the building that beautify up the Kuala Lumpur skyline after the Petronas Twin Towers. It’s actually a telecommunications and broadcasting tower that looks taller than the Petronas Twin Towers from far because it’s located on a hill – Bukit Nanas.
I am bet many of you have been to the Petronas Twin Towers, I mean the bottom of it, but did not go to the KL Tower before. I know it’s probably because it’s not easy to access by public transport. Last week, brother brought me and his girlfriend to the tower for a visit.
The entrance is RM35 for Malaysian citizen and RM45 for non-local and included a walk in the observatory zone and a little fun time with either a ride on the pony, or a visit to the super mini animal house, or play the F1 simulation. I’ve got to say, it’s not really a worth visit because it’s just a view and the fun part is just stupid and lame. You will know later.

It’s a good visit on top because you can take a good view on the city, yet not worthwhile. Sigh. It’s really not international standard although the staffs were very friendly, greeting you from bottom to top. Hmm. It’s just a small round at the observatory zone which takes about half an hour.
Telescope is free to use and there’s mini souvenirs stalls on top. It was going to rain that day, but still get a glimpse of the Klang Valley.
From top, only then I know that the city planning is kinda, err, not organized. It’s like building here and there with only a few significant architecture. Lalalalalala.
After taking photos, touring on top, we went down to get a drinks before proceeding to the F1 simulation that was included in our ticket. This is so bullshit that it’s just a steering wheel controller connected to a computer. Maybe the software is good, but I still didn’t get the feel of F1, the chair was not moving, the sound was not loud as if I am at the circuit, it just feels like playing a computer game. Hmmmmm. Lame.

Walk Walk At Bukit Bintang With Hueisean – Sorry if I have been posting many photos/posts about Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur downtown or the city because recently (more to come) I have been to downtown KL quite some times and I have taken many photos which I want to share with all of you. =)

It was a Saturday, and I went to town with my dearly Hueisean to walk, to shop, to see, to shoot and to eat. As usual, Kelana Jaya Line Rapid KL LRT was our transportation to town, and of course the wonderful pairs of leg that we all have got.
She told me that Garrett’s popcorn is good! And have been eating many in Singapore and now it’s here in Malaysia, in KLCC. Gonna check it out when it’s open.
I’ll take it as an exercise walk in town because I find it quite effective as I believe there’s more than 5KM I have walked on that day, perhaps more.

Went to check out Tokyo Street in Pavilion, the new shopping zone in the mall.
Everytime I go downtown to window shop, it’s always KLCC > Pavilion > Fahrenheit 88 > Sungei Wang > Lowyat Plaza only then go back home. Imagine how far and long I walk to and at this places. It’s tiring yet fun. Though that day only covers a little bit of KLCC, many bit of Pavilion, a little bit of Fahrenheitt 88 and more a bit of Sungei Wang.
Hueisean seldom come to KL, so she doesn’t really familiar the way around and so I was her guide for her shopping day. =D It’s not saying that Penang doesn’t have good mall, it’s that the mall here has more choice and I hope that one day my hometown, Penang’s shopping mall can be on par with the one in Kuala Lumpur. =D Haha. I think Gurney Paragon shopping centre will be awesome.
Went to check out the new shopping zone in Pavilion which is the Tokyo Street – featuring many Japanese oriented and based shops and restaurants. It’s a very cool and good idea, however there’s no Muji! How can Muji not in Malaysia yet, I am still waiting for Muji for their cool minimalist lifestyle products. Overall, this place is nice, you can get many Japanese snacks and food here.

The Click Shop is a very nice camera shop that sells Lomography camera. I really amaze that a blogshop can make it into an outlet at the prestige shopping mall – Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur. The interiors and decorations make it look premium too. Somehow, I am more into vintage camera than lomo camera now.

The giant LED cube by YES 4G. I prefer having the screen showing like news instead of re-run of YES 4G commercial on it. Though, it’s really very awesome.
Only now I know that Sungei Wang’s toilet is free. Woohoo. I hate finding RM0.20/RM0.30 coins for toilet. Really ridiculous.
After touring Sungei Wang Plaza, while walking home, we found something interesting at the Bukit Bintang cross road, in front of the giant LED screen above Maybank. Crowds were standing there, taking photos, smile, and having fun. We were curious and went to check it out.
I see us on the big big screen. No wonder everyone was standing there to take a look, at themselves. We, too, looked at the screen. It’s actually a promo for the upcoming F&N Big Fun Fest on 24th September 2011 where the area will be turn into a dance party. People will be dancing, and will be shown live on the big big screen. It’s sort of like a flash mob and you can learn the dance on Facebook too and join the fun!
Then, we went back home. Yeah! What a fun Saturday.
I am still not asleep when everyone as has already fall asleep. I am spending my own sweet time in front of the computer. The night is not really young right now and I want to get into the dreamland soon. I wonder what I will dream of tonight, or maybe just a dream that I will forget upon waking up. I dreamed about stock market and security last night which was pretty weird, and cool.
