Klang Valley: Signature Cake @ Thirty 8, Grand Hyatt Hotel

Klang Valley: Signature Cake @ Thirty 8, Grand Hyatt Hotel – KL has so many nice food place to explore! I am starting to miss the time exploring those beautiful cafe & restaurant in KL already. Although they are rather pricey, yet, I try to spend it budget-ly and experience the ambience and food fully.
So Thirty8 @ Grand Hyatt Hotel, located just right beside of Kuala Lumpur Convention, the name seems to be very ‘atas’ high-end and it’s not overly high-end as I expected. Haha. It get a bit confusing at first because I was not welcomed by the hotel lobby once I stepped into Grand Hyatt, instead I have to take the elevator to go to 38th floor, where the real Grand Hyatt Hotel’s lobby is, pretty interesting.
At just a level down the lobby, 37th, it’s where Thirty8 is, the hotel’s lounge. Having a 360 degree view of Kuala Lumpur, the view from here is just magnificent, and you will just in love with it. Pick a good spot, facing the Petronas Twin Towers preferably and enjoy your moment there.
It was an afternoon for my and Clarice. I think it would be even better at night, but afternoon gets to photograph easily with plenty of natural lighting, but then night view would be stunning too.
So, our main purpose was just to try their Thirty8 Signature Cake @ RM25 which literally is chocolate cake, but it’s more like mousse cake which is very soft. The special part of it is the presence of dry ice that create the smoking vapor effect which ‘WOW’ people. Topped with caramel and side with a banana ice cream, this dessert is very sweet! Yes, I mentioned very sweet. So beware if you are not into super-sweet dessert.
Next time, if there’s a chance again, I would like to try their ‘Straight From The Oven Chocolate Cake, Raspberry Sorbet, Vanilla Anglaise’, which is a highly recommended cake too!

  • Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre

Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre

Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre – I am starting to miss this tiramisu from Alexis. The world is so big that there’s so many better food out there! Before this, I always thought of China House at Penang has the best tiramisu cake, but actually not, Alexis has even better one!
I actually get to know about it by a friend that she claimed that Alexis has a better one. This sparked my curiousity and no doubt, it is. Talking about Alexis, they serve various western cuisine, as well as fusion food too, but my visit was just for the sake of tiramisu. They have a few outlets, one at The Gardens, Mid Valley, another one is outside of Bangsar Village Mall, one is at Bangsar Shopping Centre (the one I went) and another one at Ampang.
It’s kind of ‘atas’ to me with a nicely decorated minimalist interior and if you come at certain nights, they have relaxing jazz music accompany your meal. Pretty cool! Too bad I am already back to Penang, don’t get much chance to visit again. Hmmm!
RM15 per piece. What’s good about the cake that it’s the sweetness is just nice and the cake is overloaded with caramel peacan which resulted the sweetness and the crunchyness of it. Cake itself is not too soft but the thing lack of is the alcohol taste. Some might not like the sweetness of it, but not me and comparing with China House, I’ll take this. Yay.
    Dear Clarice with the cake!

  • Klang Valley: Nadeje Crepe Cake At PJ Three Two Square

Klang Valley: Nadeje Crepe Cake At PJ Three Two Square

Klang Valley: Nadeje Crepe Cake At PJ Three Two Square – That Saturday didn’t just stop like this at the Bak Kut Teh and also cycling in the morning, there’s still one late afternoon desserts chilling time and that’s to the newly open Nadeje Crepe Cake located at PJ’s Three Two Square.

Those who have been to Malacca must have know about the famous Nadeje Cafe which sells crepe cake. I wasn’t that excited because it has become something that’s not Malacca’s specialties anymore as you can find it in Klang Valley! Nevertheless, I still brought a happy and tired to visit the place and spend a small afternoon with crepes.

A little bit disappointing when I see the cafe is not as beautiful as the one in Malacca. There’s so less seats and we waited for like 15 minutes to get a seat. I believe the open up this cafe in PJ is to cater for take-away instead of create a nice atmosphere for people to enjoy like in Malacca. There’s only a few seats out on the corridor and inside. So, it’s not my next hangout place. Haha.

I like Pearl Of The Orient. Do you notice that Earl Grey taste like your soap?
Henry, Siyi, Weishi, Jason, Ling Jia, Quenna, me, Wei Kean and Mei Jia.

Cake was not bad, crepe all taste the same to me. Haha, somehow I still like the Hokkaido Chocolate @ Twelve Cups, Penang. Yummeh! What do you think about Nadeje?

  • Penang: Coffee Chocolate Mille Crepe & Cafe Latte @ Twelve Cups

Penang: Coffee Chocolate Mille Crepe & Cafe Latte @ Twelve Cups

Penang: Coffee Chocolate Mille Crepe & Cafe Latte @ Twelve Cups – Penang’s road came into a massive war zone around Gurney Drive area, Air Itam and some other tourists area of Penang! So many other state’s vehicles have flocked into this little island on the weekend causing congestion here and there. After lunch, to prevent myself stuck in the congestion on the way home, I brought mom to Twelve Cups for a little after meal desserts and a cup of coffee to chill a while before getting ourselves into the traffic jam.
Coffee Chocolate. Not my favourite afterall, found that Hokkaido Milk was better. =D
A good cup of Caffe Latte.

Lovely time with mille crepe and coffee at the cafe, but then it’s not lovely when being in the jam. Argh, seriously, something need to be done to help reduce the traffic congestion on this little island, but how?

The cafe is very unique and different from a typical kopitiam in Malaysia, or Starbucks. I went there with a few friends to check out the place for a project but later this place was rejected by the lecturer. Nevertheless, we did have a nice afternoon at there.

Located in the housing area of Bangsar, Poco Homemade looks different from others shop at the area. The blue color entrance looks so-not-like-Malaysia and upon entering, it felt very cozy, very warm and relaxing with nice French cafe music playing on the background.

The interior decor is very simple, with lots of art crafts decorations at every corner of the cafe and filled with retro second hand furniture. In there, I do not feel like I am in Malaysia, it’s like somewhere else, Taiwan, Japan, Northern Europe maybe.

There is a wall showcasing customer’s writeup on “My Ambition”, something that is usually done during primary school time for the first essay writing. The cafe some times used for workshop, and mini music session.

We were happy to chat with the kind owner, she said that she was inspired to open such cafe with her husband after visiting this kind of cafe in Japan.

    Found an antique camera, Agfa!

We ordered some in-house special desserts to try out, price wise is not really cheap because of the small portion Every pax has to order a drink minimum which I don’t really like about this.

Homemade Custard Cake (RM9), this is very soft, not too sweet and I find it very pleasing and nice.

Dacquoise (Matcha flavour) (RM12), a kind of dessert cake from France made with layers of almond mergue and buttercream. Well it’s crunchy, and the mid part is creamy like ice cream. It’s not so crunchy like a biscuit, yet it’s just feel like another kind of biscuit to me. Very special, very nice, but not cheap for just only two pieces. Haha.

Soya Green Tea (RM6), nice combination of green tea and soya milk. I taste soya milk more, but there’s taste of green tea too. Good!

Well, the place is very enjoying and calm. It felt very peaceful and seems as if away from the busy city of Kuala Lumpur. You need not to travel to Northern Europe or Japan to experience this kind of cafe. =D

  • Crepe Cake at Indulge Cafe, Kuchai Lama

Crepe Cake at Indulge Cafe, Kuchai Lama

I didn’t really know about this place and if you ask me where is it right now, I still couldn’t tell you where is it but I have a business card here. The cafe is located in Kuchai Lama, KL and the name is Indulge Cafe. So how I went there was basically the guide of the GPS. Haha.

So last week, I went to this Indulge Cafe just to try a crepe cake, introduced by my friend Wanyi. I don’t really know what’s a crepe cake, it’s like layering cake and it’s cold and best of all it’s yummy! Wonderful homemade crepe cake. We ordered a big cake of it for Nita’s birthday and she was happy and everyone was happy too! I like it.

They do serve western food other than desserts.

    =)
