China Trip: Shanghai: Magnificent Apple Store At Pudong (Day 4) – Shanghai Pudong’s Apple Store is one of the most beautiful Apple Store in the world, the other cool one that I think is the one at 5th Avenue, New York. This huge cylinder shape Apple Store located near to Pudong’s Oriental Pearl TV Tower is a perfect blend into the surrounding.

Being an Apple fans, how can I not visit the coolest Apple Store on Earth?

Same as other Apple Store around the world, you will see a huge glass structure with the illuminated huge Apple logo hanging at the center.

Walking down the spiral stairs which locates the main hall of Apple Store, this is the place where all the retail and consultation are. Again, it’s looks the same like other Apple Store around the world. It’s simple, it’s cool, it’s full of people and it’s awesome!

China Trip – Shanghai: Apple Store, East Nanjing Road 南京东路苹果电脑专卖店 (Day 3) – I had some rest at the hostel after getting back from the awesome day trip at Zhouzhuang, the ancient water town. After that, the real Shanghai trip began as this started our real exploration of Shanghai. We started off with Apple Store which located at the super famous East Nanjing Lu (Road) Pedestrian.

I have always wanted to visit a real Apple Store for a long time, what’s difference between the Apple Store and Apple Reseller in our country is staffs at the Apple Store are very friendly, it’s always very crowded and happenings at the Apple Store, the interiors are beautiful and the big Apple is so awesome.

Apple Store @ East Nanjing Road is my first Apple store visit in the world. All the while, Apple Stores are present in United States only, later then Tim Cook, CEO of Apple expanded the stores across the world to Europe, Asia and Australia.

This Apple Store at East Nanjing Road opened just not long ago only at last year. It was so packed with people during my visit and the atmosphere in there were really happy. Everyone was smiling, happily playing Apple products and asking for help from the Apple’s staff. This is one of the most happenings retail outlet along East Nanjing Road shopping street.

In there, you can notice the standard Apple Store interior design like aluminum wall panel, wood table and of course the cool glass spiral staircase. Another cool thing is that every Apple products are accompanied by an iPad which works as product introduction & price tag. Very cool.

To me, I feel Apple Store in China are must-visit places because there’s only 3 stores in China, 2 in Shanghai, 1 in Hong Kong. I’ve visited them all! Stay tune to my blog for more photos on other Apple Stores.

Japanese Failed To Talk With Siri Assistant – Apple iPhone 4S and iOS5 is now here (but not in Malaysia yet for the iPhone 4S). Everyone around me have been telling me how nice the Siri Assistant is, this and that. But then I wonder will it recognize our Malaysian-accent English well?

    [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LM7edH6ZpE&w=480&h=360]

The Japanese tried the Siri, with a strong Japanese accent but failed to get a correct response for it. Well, in about two weeks time, the iPhone 4S will be launched in Singapore and I will be heading there to try out my brother’s unit and will update with you how it works.

PPS.tv Now Available On Mac – After the long wait, PPS.tv, the famous Chinese movie streaming software is now available on the Apple’s Macintosh OS. The software is a P2P movie streaming software which features lots of Asian and International’s movies and drama which can be watched on-demand.

    #2: Screenshot of the application.

It’d been a heat on the Windows. Previously, I watched PPS through Parallel Windows on my Mac but now I have no reason to boot Windows on my Mac to watch it. The whole experience is just the same as the one on Windows if you have used it before. If you haven’t, you should try it out if you can read Chinese.

#4: Installation is simple as ABC.

Setup is pretty easy, just drag and drop into the Application folder from the *.dmg package. You need not to set anything to display Chinese font and no add-on software, it’s so much easier than on the Windows.

Enjoy your PPS on Mac now, head over here to download now.

  • Remembering Steve Jobs 1955-2011

    Remembering Steve Jobs 1955-2011

Remembering Steve Jobs 1955-2011 – It’s a very sad morning for today, 5th October 2011 (Malaysia: 6th October 2011) as the great founder and leader of Apple Inc – Steve Jobs has passed away. Steve Jobs was and is always my idol. The reason I love Apple, I be a Apple’s fanboy is because of him. He is great not just making awesome products like MacBook, iPhone, iPod and others, it’s the way he create it, the way he shows it to the world, the way he vision the products to be in the future, the way he leads Apple to today’s success.

I knew Apple product when I was 9 years old (2002), it was eMac, lamp shape iMac back then as well as the scroll wheel iPod, then I knew about Steve Jobs  like in 2007 when he introduced the first iPhone 2G (I bet many of you might not scene it before because it was not available in Malaysia). I saw the keynote, I saw the iPhone, although hardware wasn’t that great, yet it did it well, it became the world’s phone today.

I followed every of his keynote in the past, I read about him, I just felt that he was not simple, he was a great leader, he just is like the God in the technology world. He became an idol in my heart, just like how people obsessed football player or singer, actress, I obssess Steve Jobs. Think, Sony made Walkman but it took them so long for everyone to know about the name “Walkman”, Apple made “iPod”, but just a year or two, it’d becomes everyone’s name in the mouth for MP3 player. iMac’s design was weird, un-standard with the computer design of that time, yet it looks pretty, minimalist, designer’s feel. iBook, eBook was cute and comes the MacBook Pro (PowerBook) where aluminum laptop design comes in.

In 2007, comes the iPhone, the device that changed the people look at phone. Touchscreen wasn’t a new thing at that time, but then many failed to promote a touch screen device. It’s Apple who shows the world the true capability of touchscreen. Multi-touch gesture came to us. Then other company started to produce touchscreen device to compete – HTC, Samsung, Nokia and so-on. Because of Apple, everyone is releasing touchscreen mobile phone now.

iPad in 2010 was a great product. Tablet computing was not famous back then yet it existed like many years ago. It was using a stylus and running Windows. They were not sensitive, they were slow and not user-friendly, yet the release of the Apple iPad tablet changed the world of tablet computing. Everyone bought it. Everyone like it. Then comes the rival company producing the samething – Acer Iconia Tab, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Zoom.

Steve Jobs and the company – Apple had created many great product to us. He was a great presenter, I like the way he gives the keynote, the way he conduct it, the way he talk. It’s just became my guide in doing a presentation. No doubt he is the great presenter of all time to me.

    100_1033_copy

    I love my iPod Nano 2G (2006), iPod Shuffle 2G (2007), iPod touch 1G (2007), iPhone 3GS (2009), MacBook (2010), Apple iPad 1G (2010), MacBook Pro (2011).

    untitled2
    (image from Gizmodo)

No more Steve’s awesome keynote now, no more “boom”, no more “one more thing”, no more “extraordinary”, no more long sleeve, turtle neck and Levi’s jeans, no more Apple old man. He’s gone. RIP Steve Jobs. Remember you always.

  • No iPhone 5, It’s Apple iPhone 4S

    No iPhone 5, It's Apple iPhone 4S
“It’s the most amazing iPhone yet.”

No iPhone 5, It’s Apple iPhone 4S – Apple 4th October 2011 “Let’s Talk iPhone” event is now over and disappointingly there’s no iPhone 5 announced, it’s just a change of hardware in the current Apple iPhone 4 and they called it the iPhone 4S, just like the iPhone 3gS update 2 years ago.

It’s 100% identical with the current iPhone 4, but in the inner part, the hardware is equip with the same processor that powers the Apple iPad 2 – Apple A5 Dual-core CPU, which enables 7x faster graphic performance, the camera is now upgraded to 8megapixel camera on par with other smartphone, sporting a new optics with backlight illuminating sensor which means capturing clearer picture in low light, f2.4 aperture lens. On the other hand, Apple has fixed the “antennagate” problem which the phone is also a “World Phone”, supporting both GSM and CDMA network. No 4G though.

Screen Shot 2011-10-05 at 12.10.56 PM

Another thing is – Siri Assistant, a voice guide on the phone that talks to you is included, which is just another app to promote the iPhone 4S. No words mention that Siri Assistant will be available on other device besides the Apple iPhone 4S, it might be the premium app for the 4S.

So in short, it’s just better CPU, improved camera, “World Phone”, iOS5 equipped and no redesign. I was and believes many were hoping for a bigger screen iPhone, a redesigned, bigger battery capacity (though Apple claims iPhone 4S has better battery life with the same capacity), as well as NFC or 4G-equiped. Unfortunately, not.

No news about Malaysia’s availability and price. Our closest nation, Singapore will get it on 28th October 2011.
