Last Night In The Dorm Room

Last Night In The Dorm Room – Life at night is pretty fun in my dorm room where the lights are dimmed, soft music is turned on and later lying on the bed to enjoy a couple of drama show. I have tried to create a relax environment in my dorm room for me because I think life must be fun, and money saving too. It’s not all about party all night long, clubbing everyday which make up an enjoyable life, life can be fun in the room too.

Another thing is that being an interior design student, I would like to decorate my room to a cool, fun and nice room. I don’t want it to be a typical dorm room, so don’t be surprise to see many Ikea stuff in my room. I just love Ikea so much. Haha.

You know, moreover Internet speed gets faster at night when there’s less people using it at home. Haha. You can do more thing on the Internet. If I have a bigger room, I would like to have a Xbox 360 + Kinect, sounds so awesome! Too bad, I live in a small room.

  • Penang Asam Laksa and Hokkien Prawn Mee At Seapark

After residing in Kuala Lumpur for a little while, I never stop in searching for the best or closest-to-Penang’s-feel’s Penang hawker food like Asam Laksa and Hokkien Prawn Mee which both are my favourite. I keep Googling and testing many food. There’s still no the best yet but I strongly believe there must be one that feels home. =)

On a fine Thursday afternoon, me, Arron and Carmen, three musketeers from Penang went to look for a Asam Laksa and Hokkien Prawn Mee stall at Seapark, Petaling Jaya. The combination of Hokkien Prawn Mee and Asam Laksa only can be found in Kuala Lumpur or outside of Penang as you don’t really see it in Penang. They just wanna sell “Penang” food.

After following the point on the GPS, we reached our destination, feeling a little bit Penang because it’s not a kopitiam but on the corner of some shop lots, placing a few tables and here they eat.

Surprisingly, I hear the stall owner speaks Penang Hokkien, so I assume they were from Penang. Ordered a bowl of Asam Laksa and Hokkien Prawn Mee to try out the tasted.

The asam laksa came first. Looks nice in a nice red bowl, has many fish but then the soup tasted weird to me. It’s not Penang enough, not sweet enough and lack of the fishy taste. They actually put in the fish separately instead of coming out from the soup.

Ignore the ugly photos of the Hokkien Prawn Mee, I took it after I ate it. Sorry. Haha.

Here comes the hokkien prawn mee. To be honest, this is better than the asam laksa to me. The prawn taste was there, tiny little shrimps were good and I’ll say this is ok-good. Still not better than Penang but I will be back for the hokkien prawn mee. Though, there’s no egg.

    Eater #1: Me!

    Eater #2: Carmen from Penang.

Eater #3: Arron Lim from Penang.

I want to talk about hokkien prawn mee is I kinda dislike having big shrimp in it as it’s very not authentic. Move around Penang, look for the best hokkien prawn mee, and you won’t see any big shrimp in it. =)

Anyway, this is a good stall, I will be back for the hokkien prawn mee. =) Another thing is I saw people eat asam laksa with bee hoon, weird. Haha.

Any recommendation of Penang food to me and the reader?

Meet My Brother At Raffles Place

Meet My Brother At Raffles Place – Raffles Place, Singapore, it’s just like the Central in Hong Kong which is the CBD (Central Business District) of the city. Fill with high rise office towers and at Raffles Place, it situated Singapore’s tallest buildings the OUB Centre, Republic Plaza and UOB Plaza One.

Meet My Brother At Raffles Place

I alighted at Raffles Place MRT station to meet up with my brother who was working at that area on a Friday. It feels so “Hong Kong” when I got out of the MRT station where I was surrounded by high rise buildings. Looking around, it’s just white collars and office lady everywhere, walking fast to the MRT station to get home or to somewhere else. There’s nothing that looks like it in Malaysia. In Malaysia, after work, many has their own private vehicles and office buildings spread out all over the cities.

It’s all office towers, nothing much, took some shots and went to Raffles City for dinner that day.

Short Walk At Clarke Quay, Singapore

Short Walk At Clarke Quay, Singapore – I went to Singapore few months back to check out Saturday In Design event and in the trip, I went to the famous night life spot in the city, Clarke Quay at night for a short walk. It’s really a fast walk at there as brother and I didn’t want to go back that early after checking out Marina Bay Sands.

I have been here before few years back, and I am here again. Though, it’s still walking around and didn’t spend time at any of the pubs or bistro.

I see people playing the reverse bungee thingy which is pretty scary, yet expensive. I felt like want to try but I was at scared at the same time. HAHA. It looks fun and exciting from far. It’s a gigantic swing, swing you up and down. Have you tried it before?

The bridge where people buy their own beer and hang out at there. It’s so much cheaper than drinking out at the pubs there.

Clarke Quay is really a nice place for people who doesn’t want to go home at night, it’s a very happenings night life spot in Singapore with lots of pubs and bistros. I am very amaze with the crowds and everything is so well-organized. Unlike Kuala Lumpur where pubs are pretty spread out in the city. Given that Changkat Bukit Bintang has a similar function, yet it’s so much smaller when compare to Clarke Quay.

Very cute and weird pub with a hospital/clinic theme (The Clicnic) which offers alcohol in syringes, drips and test-tubes. Don’t be surprise to see nurses serving you there.

Just tour the place for a while, and finally tiredness attacked me then we went back home. =D

  • Mexico Seaside Vacation Reservations

Mexico Seaside Vacation Reservations – Travel is my passion. I like to travel around the world, to explore, relax, learn, at the same time to enjoy. Mexico is one of my destination in my traveling list too. Going to travel or a vacation needs some research and it’s not “just go there and have fun”. You need to look for good and cheap accommodation, and importantly reliable.

One of the city that must not miss in Mexico is the Rocky Point (also known as Puerto Peñasco) for it’s beautiful beach and resorts. It’d been develop into a tourism area since the 1990s and is heavily visited by people from Arizona and California. So, Rocky Point also has another name which is called the “Arizona’s beach”.

Beautiful coast line, ivory sandy beach and crystal clear turquoise seawater are making life relaxing at there. Book yourself a Rocky Point Beach House and spend the holiday with your friends and family is a ideal break from the busy city life. It’s really nice to spend to at Rocky Point according to my research. It’s a city that is cater for relaxing people, it’s not like a busy city of Los Angeles or San Fransisco. It’s calm, it’s windy by the beach, it’s just beautiful.

  • My Experience In Saturday In Design Singapore

My Experience In Saturday In Design Singapore

My Experience In Saturday In Design Singapore – In May this year of 2011, I and part of my class of Diploma In Interior Design friends, as well as my lecturer Mr CK Foo all together visited a design event in Singapore called the Saturday In Design, Singapore.

Originally this event is a yearly event in the Australia where designer’s furniture shop, product designs and design studios open up their place to design lovers to visit, communicate, interact and enjoy the design, but it came to Singapore for the first time and we were pretty excited

    Chair at Morroso.

What we have visited was mainly furniture shops. These furniture are not typical house furniture but they are premium, expensive, branded and are designed by well-known product and furniture designers all around the world.

All the station (shops and studio) located at different zone, spread out in the city of Singapore. We have our Malaysia bus who ferry us around different station. There were also van to bring you around if you are in a group or if you are in a person or two, you get a luck to be drove around by Mercedez car which is actually their main sponsors for the shuttle service around the stations.

    Paper lamp shade.

It’s really an eye opening trip which most of the brands were quite new to me and I was really inspired by some of the designs. I also saw that the price for those designer’s products is pretty expensive too.

Wei Kean, me, Zhi Inn and Nita.

Nice shop houses! Really very colourful and nice. I hope Penang’s can be like this.

    Connie, Wanyi, Nita and Mellysa.

    We got free Instax too!

We actually started our tour and visits at about 11am and ended the whole thing at 5pm because we were rushing back to Malaysia that night. Despite being 6 hours in Singapore, we couldn’t cover all of the stations, we left about 2 which we did not able to visit.

We were in fact rushing from station to station with time. We did not have a proper lunch but then our stomach was satisfied and filled with excitement and pleasantly delicious snacks and light food which were served by almost all of the stations. They were mainly Western cocktails style snacks and light meals which were pretty good in mouth and also did a good job for preventing my stomach from growling.

    Awesome office which I like!

    Nice big red chair!

I signed my name there too!

Innovative, a good way to place your chopstick.

Food was just so awesome which makes us wanted more and more.

Checking out a cool office design.

    Shanghai is written!

Nice cut out of brown boxes cardboard art featuring the Statue of Liberty.

I believe this is somewhere in Chinatown.

    Birdman Wesley.

Well, would probably visit again in the next event, and if there’s an opportunity for me, I would like to visit the actual one in Australia. =D
