    Friday Night Karaoke @ Loudspeaker

Friday Night Karaoke @ Loudspeaker – It’s seems like getting back to the days like in high school where I will go to the karaoke Red Box once a month. Though, it’s with different gang of people right now, it was a one group of batang guys, and now interior designers mostly. Ahh, I just love singing and hope that I can sing well but too bad I am bad in singing.
Weekend was very awesome, tiring yet fun KTV until midnight because it was after a long day of work, hiking in the early morning then out to the city for whole day. So it’s pretty much filled up for the last weekend. For the past two years in college, I found no one to sing with, and now, I am happy that I have a group of friends who go to KTV often.
Fresh Milk Grass Jelly from COCO. Not bad. Thanks Quenna & Hwa Jie for the treat!
Wei Kean, Connie, Quenna and Hwa Jie was the company of the night.
Not to say my favourite KTV spot in Kuala Lumpur, but it’s cheapest and nearest. I still prefer Red Box for the choice of song and a better sound system.
Well, KTV, yeah, do you like to sing?
  • 年初六 Snake Temple Festival

    年初六 Snake Temple Festival

CNY 2013: 年初六 Snake Temple Festival – This year is the year of Snake and there’s a Snake Temple in Penang! Every year there’s a flame watching festival at the Snake Temple at Bayan Lepas. The level of flame will predict the good luck of the whole year. It is measured by the height of the flame, like how tall it is and will tell the luck whether it’s good, or bad. During this flame watching ceremony, many devotees flocks into the temple to pray for good luck and to see the flame watching ceremony too.

Food stalls in front of Snake Temple.
    Entrance.

In conjunction with the year of Snake, the flame watching festival at the Snake Temple was a big festival. Very BIG. The Snake Temple is not to pray to the snake or God of Snake, it’s just somehow the typical Taoist temple happens to attract the reptile to reside in the temple and so call Snake Temple.

    Dear Clarice. =)

Well, Valentine’s Day, yeah, so, Valentine’s Day go to Snake Temple see flame watching and also play with snake and also pray! I bet my V Day is different with you guys. HAHA. It might not be romantic for you guys, but it is for us, to join the crowds, to join the snake and to explore the culture. =D

    Venomous snake.
    Doesn’t look cute. =.=
I tell you I am freaking scared of snake.
Clarice loves the snake more than me.

It’s really very happening and crowded at there and it’s great that we managed to catch the fireworks too.

  • 年初五 Valentine’s Day

    年初五 Valentine’s Day

CNY 2013: 年初五 Valentine’s Day – Don’t know since when, Valentine’s Day falls in the Chinese New Year period. Few years back was on the first day, where people seemed to celebrate Chinese New Year more than Valentine’s Day. This year is on the fifth day, no bai nian, no gathering, no gamble, no pray, no ang kong, no shoot, so I got a day out with my lovely Valentine, Clarice. =D
    Ze gift.
Found sunset at Queensbay Mall’s rooftop. =D

    US!
Snake Temple! Check out the next post for more.
It’s pretty interesting for this year, it’s much more Chinese New Year day than Valentine’s day. The day was simple, it’s desserts, Japanese food dinner, shopping and ended the fun at the Snake Temple with crowds of devotees, snakes, and Chinese god and lots of love. Awesome.
I love you my dear, Clarice.
  • China House & Busy Armenian Street

China House & Busy Armenian Street

CNY 2013年初三 China House & Busy Armenian Street – Third day of Chinese New Year is getting more relax and not so hectic as before but then the traffic in this little island of Penang was building up as people has done Bai Nian, it’s time for everyone to go explore, eat and chill.

Went to China House, my favourite cafe in George Town for a little afternoon tea with my parents and to show dad around as he’d never been there before. It was super duper crowded on that day as the whole cafe was almost full-house. Luckily, I did manage to get a table.

Just across the street of China House is Armenian Street, the place of the famous bicycle mural and because of Chinese New Year Holiady, tourists were queuing to to take a shot with the famous made by Ernest Zacharevic! It’s madness, it’s happiness!

  • Photograph The Star

    Photograph The Star

Photograph The Star – I was at the temple at Klian Intan and found out that the place was very dark and has a good view of stars in the sky. So I took my camera, mounted on a tripod and set a long exposure and high aperture, trying to capture the star.

Not much of a success, but it seems to be one cool photography that I would like to try. =D Any tips on shooting stars?

CNY 2013: 年初二 – 吧王庙 Ba Wong Temple @ Klian Intan

CNY 2013: 年初二 – 吧王庙 Ba Wong Temple @ Klian Intan – A visit to an old temple at Klian Intan for prayers during my reunion at Pengkalan Hulu. This small little village of Klian Intan used to has thousand of tenth population during my grandma’s era but it has not become a tiny village of 1000+ populations. What’s still standing is this Ba Wong Temple at the entrance of the Klian Intan village. It’d been some times that we visited this place and it’s the time again to do some prayers.
The small  and peaceful village of Klian Intan.

  • CNY 2013: 年初2 PSY Gangnam Style x2 Penang

CNY 2013: 年初2 PSY Gangnam Style x2 Penang

CNY 2013: 年初2 PSY Gangnam Style x2 Penang – BN said it’s just a cultural Chinese New Year open house for the Penangite, no political agenda behind it, but how do you explain the thousands of blue Barisan National & 1Malaysia flags in Penang which are dangerous to the motorist and unsightful to the beautiful Penang. If you are in Penang, it’s just madness.
Monday morning, 2nd day of Chinese New Year was extraordinary hot yet I was very excited to see PSY’s Gangnam Style at the Barisan National Chinese New Year Open House Celebration at Han Chiang’s High School. Surprisingly, there’s not much of traffic jam on the road, instead it’s human jam at the venue. I was there to see PSY, not Prime Minister, nor other government officials.
    Eyesore, unsightful flags.
It’s really very hot, I regretted did not bring an umbrella with me and a big bottle of ice cold water. The scorching heat of the sun could anytime dehydrate me and caused me to faint. I was seeking for shade, squatting down among the sea of human to get some shade from the 35 degree cel direct solar heat.
The venue was filled with everyone, Malaysians, it’s not just Malaysian Chinese, but Malay, Indian too. Many were there to see PSY, many were there to get free food too. I wonder how many were there to actually see the PM?
Manage to hear the nice voice of Shila Hamza, later then the speech of Teng Chang Yeow (Penang BN Leader) & Najib Razak (Prime Minister) caused some laughter among the crowds as they were not what the crowds wanted to see most. Feel bad for them as crowd was booing for Teng Chang Yeow, saying NO when Najib shouted ‘Are you ready for BN?’, Rosmah singing Chinese New Year song and Najib failed to invite PSY for lou sang. Hahaha. Too bad.
After 1.5 hours being under the hot sun, PSY appeared, after the long winded speech by Teng, Najib and singing of Rosmah! Oh gosh! The excitement increased more than 100%! Took a few photos of him in a rush and get myself into the tune and rhythm of Gangnam Style! Oppa! Very sad to see that the front crowds was busy taking video and photo of him, come on, you see him all the time on the Internet and it’s time to join the Gangnam dance. Luckily, happily, PSY did the Gangnam Style the second time! And this time, he managed to get the crowds dancing along! SHIOKNESS!
After PSY, time to go, took about half an hour to get out of this place. Very bad crowd control and went to look for fluid to re-hydrate  Very hot. Well, very happy to see PSY and enjoyed my 10 minutes with Gangnam Style. BEST CNY! Thanks BN for bringing PSY, but you still are not my favourite political party in Malaysia.

    Gangnam T-shirt!
    PSY Head!
Lot’s of Lion Dance head at there, seriously, a lot!
Uncle Choi Shen! God of Wealth.
    Happy happy!
They probably does not know what’s going on the stage. They were probably waiting for PSY, or free food, maybe?
    Uncle preparing food.
OK, met Kok Sheng who was helper at there. No political influence, just a random helper, and thanks to him only I get entrance ticket into the area near the stage.
    The ticket.
Some argued because they don’t get to go in. Very bad crowd control, serious.
Trust me, you don’t want to stand under this weather, 35 degree celcius, direct solar heat, cloudless.
    =(
    Brother!
    Favourite T-shirt.
    Shila Hamzah is awesome!
    Unfavourable Teng Chang Yeow.
Unfavourable bunch of political people. NAJIB, ROSMAH, NG YEN YENG & more.
    MC, DJ for PSY!
    ‘Are you ready for GANGNAM?!’
PSY PSY PSY PSY. REALLY VERY HIGH!
Go home right after PSY, didn’t care what happened after PSY.
  • Shawn Henry Baybutt’s Love Of Steelhead Fishing

Shawn Henry Baybutt’s Love Of Steelhead Fishing

Trout fishing is a popular sport. Different species of trout can be found all over the world, and in both salt and fresh water, with the exception of Antarctica. It’s not surprising that Shawn Henry Baybutt lists trout fishing among the many activities he likes to participate in. More pointedly, Mr. Baybutt prefers a particular type of trout known as the steelhead trout, which is popular from Southern California to the peninsula of Alaska and all points in between. This variation of the Rainbow trout has been a favorite of anglers like Shawn Baybutt for many years.

While steelhead trout are found in the various rivers and streams of Canada is considered a trout, the steelhead resembles a salmon more than its freshwater counterpart. Steelhead trout are ocean faring fish and only return to freshwater to spawn. In fact, the steelhead, as it is called in the US and Canada, is aptly named the ocean trout in Australia.
Another thing that makes steelhead trout popular is how vigorous the fish can be. While most steelheads are medium in size they are excellent game, and in some cases the steelhead can grow quite large. As an example, the largest known steelhead trout caught was 47 inches long weighing in at 53 pounds.
Unfortunately, in recent years, populations of steelhead trout have been on the decline in North America.
Shawn Baybutt, as well as many other anglers, finds the steelhead trout to be an excellent gaming fish but the question is where does Shawn Henry Baybutt like to fish for this popular trout. While there are many different locations in North America and more pointedly Canada, perhaps one of the best areas where Mr. Baybutt finds a strong population of steelhead trout is the Skeena.
The Skeena begins in the Spasizi Plateau, a large grouping of coastal mountains and snakes through 350 miles and ends at Port Rupert, a large ocean port. The Skeena also encompasses over 30 different tributaries like the Bulkey, Morice, Kispiox and the Babine, just to name a few. These various tributaries of the Skeena create what is known as Rivers of Steel as these waterways hold large volumes of steelhead trout.
Within this large area are various different spots that Mr. Baybutt as well as other Canadian anglers love to fish for steelhead trout. However, it’s important to understand that as stated before that the steelhead population has dwindled over the years which is why Mr. Baybutt has always promoted responsible fishing in order to maintain a healthy level of this most beloved fish.
Shawn Henry Baybutt enjoys a great many things in life, but one of his true passions is fishing for steelhead trout. This fish is a true sporting catch. In addition, with the joy of being able to take in some of the most grand and spectacular landscapes surrounding the bodies of water steelhead trout call home, it’s little wonder why Mr. Baybutt enjoys this pastime as much as he does.
  • CNY 2013: 年初一 Bai Nian & Karaoke

CNY 2013: 年初一 Bai Nian & Karaoke

CNY 2013: 年初一 Bai Nian & Karaoke – Very standard stuff I did on the first day of Chinese Snake Year! Woke up late in the morning, started off the day with Gong Hei Fatt Choi to daddy and mommy, ang bao, visit relatives to get more ang bao, visit aunty uncle grandma to get even more ang bao, eat, and ended up karaoke, Xbox and spend time at home with family. Simple day, yet tiring, and fun too!
