    Bangkok: Terminal 21 Shopping Mall

Bangkok: Terminal 21 Shopping Mall – One of my favourite thing I like about Bangkok is their shopping mall, not those typical old MBK or Platinum, but their new modern mall like Siam Paragon, Siam Centre, Central World and this Terminal 21. Their malls are really well-maintained and the interior design is actually quite interesting!
Terminal 21 is one very interesting mall as it’s has a theme of famous travel destination like London, Paris, Rome, Japan, and more and it also incorporate airport-style design too, like those terminal gate, huge airport-style clock!
Best part, there’s cheap and fashionable buy too! I actually bought some nice fashion shirt at there! Here’s come the most interesting part, all of the toilets has different designs, you can hardly visit them all. The Thai really take design and fun seriously. Salute!
The world is small! Couldn’t believe I met my classmate – Jia Hui, at Terminal 21. Haha.

    TOILET!

Bangkok: KL LCCT, Don Muang Airport, Raining @ Nana

Bangkok: KL LCCT, Don Muang Airport, Raining @ Nana – 2 weeks ago, I went on a short trip to Bangkok, one of my favourite destination in South East Asia. There’s a very unfavourable moment happened on that trip – I had diarrhoea! I was very well until the day before I leave Bangkok, then the I started to head to the washroom very often until no medicine can stop it. That really ruined my last day at Bangkok. Well, this does cause some phobia to me, because the last time I went to Hatyai, I also had diarrhoea after I came home. I suspected it’s the sausage bought from the convenience stall was the source of the sickness as it’s me and brother had it and we two had diarrhoea. Haha. Anyway, Bangkok is still fine for me, I will visit again in the future!

    Waiting @ LCCT, Kuala Lumpur.
Let’s not talk about that sad thing first and share something interesting about the trip. I took AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur and it’s my first time flying to Don Muang Airport. It was Suvarnabhumi International Airport all the while, but this year, AirAsia had changed to an older airport. No more of luxurious welcome anymore. Don Muang Airport is really old, but at least it’s very clean.
The old Don Muang Airport @ Bangkok.
Queuing for cab just outside of Don Muang Airport. You know, meter cab is cheap in Bangkok!
    Wet day in Bangkok.
    Somewhere in Nana, Bangkok.

Rush hour in the BTS train.
Without much hesitation, we took the cab, headed to the hotel, checked in and headed to Nana, a place you can find many Arabic restaurant and also tailor shop runs by Indian/Myammar/Banglah, they are just not pure Thai. My brother wanted to custom-made shirt, that’s why we went there. He said tailor is cheap and quality in Thai, I don’t really know but he made shirt at 1500 baht/shirt, what do you think?
After settling with the tailor, we took the BTS from Nana Station and headed to Asok Station, it’s just a stop away where the theme-shopping mall – Terminal 21 is!
  • Klang Valley: Signature Cake @ Thirty 8, Grand Hyatt Hotel

Klang Valley: Signature Cake @ Thirty 8, Grand Hyatt Hotel

Klang Valley: Signature Cake @ Thirty 8, Grand Hyatt Hotel – KL has so many nice food place to explore! I am starting to miss the time exploring those beautiful cafe & restaurant in KL already. Although they are rather pricey, yet, I try to spend it budget-ly and experience the ambience and food fully.
So Thirty8 @ Grand Hyatt Hotel, located just right beside of Kuala Lumpur Convention, the name seems to be very ‘atas’ high-end and it’s not overly high-end as I expected. Haha. It get a bit confusing at first because I was not welcomed by the hotel lobby once I stepped into Grand Hyatt, instead I have to take the elevator to go to 38th floor, where the real Grand Hyatt Hotel’s lobby is, pretty interesting.
At just a level down the lobby, 37th, it’s where Thirty8 is, the hotel’s lounge. Having a 360 degree view of Kuala Lumpur, the view from here is just magnificent, and you will just in love with it. Pick a good spot, facing the Petronas Twin Towers preferably and enjoy your moment there.
It was an afternoon for my and Clarice. I think it would be even better at night, but afternoon gets to photograph easily with plenty of natural lighting, but then night view would be stunning too.
So, our main purpose was just to try their Thirty8 Signature Cake @ RM25 which literally is chocolate cake, but it’s more like mousse cake which is very soft. The special part of it is the presence of dry ice that create the smoking vapor effect which ‘WOW’ people. Topped with caramel and side with a banana ice cream, this dessert is very sweet! Yes, I mentioned very sweet. So beware if you are not into super-sweet dessert.
Next time, if there’s a chance again, I would like to try their ‘Straight From The Oven Chocolate Cake, Raspberry Sorbet, Vanilla Anglaise’, which is a highly recommended cake too!

  • Klang Valley: Paddington Garden, Sunway Giza

Klang Valley: Paddington Garden, Sunway Giza

Klang Valley: Paddington Garden, Sunway Giza – Paddington Garden is pancake specialized cafe located at Sunway Giza and serving the same menu that they had in Taiwan (yes, it’s from Taiwan). I went to for an afternoon tea to try out their pancake few weeks back, I thought I almost had found a similar nice pancake like the one I had at Hoshino Coffee in Singapore, but then it’s the pancake at Paddington Garden is just the other way around.
I am not a pancake-pro, but I like it to be sweet and something like what I had at Hoshino Cafe. I didn’t now what to order, and randomly ordered a Tiramisu Pancake. Turned out, it’s not what I wanted and it tasted somewhat, bitter with the espresso topping! HAHAHA. Well, I need sweet pancake, any recommendation?

  • DID Final Semester, Final Presentation

    DID Final Semester, Final Presentation

DID Final Semester, Final Presentation – I am writing this on my lovely leather couch, far away from my college, to be exact – in Penang, at home! College is so far ended for me, the past 4 months was so hectic for me as it was the final semester and I stressed up myself to be the best of myself. I didn’t want to waste my last semester and I just wanted to squeeze out whatever skills I had, that’s why I did not blog for the past few months and to be honest, I was quite stressed up.
Of course, I am relaxing right now, I am grateful that the 3 years Diploma In Interior Design studies is over with flying colours and it’s time for me to move to the next level – continue to the degree program! Yay!
Well, speaking back about the final presentation for my final design studio project, I was actually not nervous about presentation, I actually love speaking out and selling my idea. The stress up part was actually the preparation where you see time was moving so fast and so much more to do. To be honest, I was not very satisfied with the outcome, although it’d been a good one according to my lecturers, yet I still feels that there’s much more space for improvement! Yes, indeed. One of my weakness was not having sufficient research, that’s I admit that and I need improvement in that. Never mind, I told myself I still have a year of Degree study to go, don’t stop learning, Nicholas!

  • Super Crowded At KLCC Park During Hari Raya

Super Crowded At KLCC Park During Hari Raya

Super Crowded At KLCC Park During Hari Raya – I know Raya has passed for a few weeks already, but then I am very free right now, enjoying my lovely holiday and so there’s plenty of time for me to throwback some interesting moment and stuff.
Sharing back about Hari Raya, I believe many people balik kampung to either celebrate the holy festival with their family, and the people who were not celebrating, too went back to hometown for a holiday. Somehow, I’ve decided to stay in Kuala Lumpur during that time as I know hometown Penang would be packed with tourists and people, traffic congestion would be everywhere too.
Very interestingly, Kuala Lumpur was deserted, with so little car on all the major roads. No surprise because many who resides in Kuala Lumpur are actually came from other part of Malaysia. However, if you take a trip down to KLCC, you would be shocked by the number of people at there! It’s the most crowded time of the year, with foreign labour all packed at the KLCC Park, making some uncomfortable moment for me. Moreover, there’s the Popular Book Fair happened at the convention centre, no doubt, everyone cramped in this iconic place of Kuala Lumpur.
Well, I actually recommend people to head to Kuala Lumpur during Hari Raya because during that time, you can be king of the road with no ‘pek-chek’ moment in the traffic jam and enjoy your shopping, but just beware of the crowds at KLCC.
  • Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre

Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre

Klang Valley: Awesome Tiramisu @ Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre – I am starting to miss this tiramisu from Alexis. The world is so big that there’s so many better food out there! Before this, I always thought of China House at Penang has the best tiramisu cake, but actually not, Alexis has even better one!
I actually get to know about it by a friend that she claimed that Alexis has a better one. This sparked my curiousity and no doubt, it is. Talking about Alexis, they serve various western cuisine, as well as fusion food too, but my visit was just for the sake of tiramisu. They have a few outlets, one at The Gardens, Mid Valley, another one is outside of Bangsar Village Mall, one is at Bangsar Shopping Centre (the one I went) and another one at Ampang.
It’s kind of ‘atas’ to me with a nicely decorated minimalist interior and if you come at certain nights, they have relaxing jazz music accompany your meal. Pretty cool! Too bad I am already back to Penang, don’t get much chance to visit again. Hmmm!
RM15 per piece. What’s good about the cake that it’s the sweetness is just nice and the cake is overloaded with caramel peacan which resulted the sweetness and the crunchyness of it. Cake itself is not too soft but the thing lack of is the alcohol taste. Some might not like the sweetness of it, but not me and comparing with China House, I’ll take this. Yay.
    Dear Clarice with the cake!

  • A Site Visit To Menara Binjai

A Site Visit To Menara Binjai

A Site Visit To Menara Binjai – Actually it’s kinda cool for studying interior design as I get to visit many nice building located right at the heart of the city centre. Just a month ago, I went to check out a new Grade A office block located just right across of KLCC – Menara Binjai as part of my assignment requirement. I don’t really get any chance to own or work in a office in the city core just because I am not a corporate person. Have you ever came across any interior design firm with a strategic view of the city centre? I don’t think so.
But then visiting the place and designing a space at these office would be even more interesting to me somehow, rather than working at there, Nevertheless, check out Menara Binjai. KL should have more of these high-rise building to dense up the cityscape like Hong Kong, Chicago, Singapore. Yeah?
  • Klang Valley: Acme Bar & Coffee, Troika, Kuala Lumpur

Klang Valley: Acme Bar & Coffee, Troika, Kuala Lumpur

Klang Valley: Acme Bar & Coffee, Troika, Kuala Lumpur – Troika is one of my favourite building in Kuala Lumpur, designed by Foster & Partners architect and it’s standing beautifully just right across the KLCC park. It’s actually a high-end city condominium with restaurant at the mid-level sky bridge and also at the ground floor. Of course, it’s a high-end fine dining restaurant at the sky bridge on 24th floor, there’s also a bar as well as another Italian restaurant (unfortunately, only the Cantaloupe fine dining restaurant can get the best view of KLCC).
Coming back to Acme Bar & Coffee, or ABC in short, is another restaurant at Troika, but located on the ground floor. The restaurant, of course serve western cuisine, as well as food with a fusion of localized taste and price starts from RM25. It’s rather pricey, although some accept it because of the location and interior setup of the place. Don’t expect the premise to be big, it’s actually smaller than I expected, but the raw steel and wood design, blend with English-style design actually attracted my senses quite a lot.
Let’s talk about food. When people discusses about ABC, the first thing comes to mind must be their famous Cempadak (Jackfruit) Cake, but that’s desserts and served in the end. Of course, they have a good Smoked Buffalo Wings which we didn’t order, unfortunately. The menu’s variety is quite choice-ful and me and my friends were confused picking out our main course.
    Just Mac & Cheese – RM27.
Angel Hair Pasta with Scallops – RM-forget.  Another interesting dish with lots of pan-fried scallop.
Sambal Hebi Aglio Olio Spaghetti – RM31. Interesting combination of local and western taste with lots of shrimp.
Grilled Jumbo Hot Dog – RM-forget, but I know it’s the lowest price of all and my friend said it’s good! Yes, it indeed looks good.
Marinated Grilled Lamb Shoulder – RM-forget but it’s the priciest of all you see here. The portion is quite big which I promise a full stomach after this.
Cempedak (Jackfruit) Cake – RM15. The famous cake of this restaurant. Truly, the taste of jackfruit is very strong and powerful which will be pleasant for jackfruit lover.  Many complains it’s overrated, but yes I still like it, but not the price.
US! The food gang, the interior designers.

Yes, the food is very over-priced in my opinion, but it seems to be a nice place for hangout with friends actually. Food taste is still up to standard in my tastebuds and service was pleasant. If there’s a chance, I want to go back for a breakfast as they have different menu. After all, the down point is still the price, really pricey. Bahhh.

  • Kwong Sang House, George Town

    Kwong Sang House, George Town

Kwong Sang House, George Town – Heritage-style cafe and restaurants are now here and there in this UNESCO World Heritage City of George Town. There’s so many to visit right now and I know that there’s still more to come in the future! Somehow, do you realised the food that each of these heritage-style cafe offered are similar? Coffee, pastry, pasta, pizza and sandwiches. Hopefully I will something different like parmesan port chicken pie, jumbo hot dog, grilled marinated lamb shoulder, pork chops and stuff like that.
Anyway, Kwong Sang House, a restaurant converted from an ex-tailor shop which has a tailor-theme in the little heritage shophouse which serves food like pizza, pasta, chicken chops, fish and chips and more. Food is tuned to a more localised taste, similar to those western food stall that you can find at food court, but with a better setting, bigger portion and more beautiful food presentation.
I recently went to tried their Spaghetti Aglio Olio & Chicken and Ham Pizza. My personal liking goes to the spaghetti, but then it’s not better than the one at I had at Redbean Bags @ Publika. Chicken and Ham Pizza was rather plain with lesser ingredient. I might come back to try out some other food in their menu provided the price is quite reasonable at about RM10-RM20. The restaurant itself is simple and relaxing too!
