Jogging To The West By River Tyne During Sunset

Jogging To The West By River Tyne During Sunset – All the while, it was just running on the treadmills at the gym here in Newcastle as the weather was quite cold previously, but as it’s getting warmer and my assignment is over right now, I can head out for a run. It was a late evening on Sunday that I went for a run by the River Tyne from Quayside. Windy, but quite fun, I ran in a direction to the west of the river, trying to chase the sunset. 4.5km down by the river side and I was at no where, very quiet on a sunday evening and only came across one of two individuals fishing by the river.

It’s really peaceful out there like suddenly I was like so far away from the city, just like being in a ‘kampung’ (village)! Newcastle is really a kampung in my opinion. HAHA. The boardwalk by the river is like never-ending and I only stop at a place when I was exhausted. Not decided to run back, it took me an hour walk back to my place! But it was fun one, as the sun was still up at 8pm and I got to see a bit of the sunset skyline by the nature.

    Sunset, rocks!

  • Sunset: Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne

    Sunset: Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Sunset: Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne – Because the Quayside is rather far from where I stay, about 15 minutes walk, or shall say I am lazy to go there most of the time, so I hardly get my chance to shoot the sunset, or sunrise. Few weeks back, on a Sunday evening, I finally got my lazy ass off my room and head over to Quayside. It was late, about 3 something in the afternoon where the sun was starting to go low. Winter is coming yo, and my daylight is getting short. I see that it was a good clear sky there, I quickly walked to Quayside to chase the sun!
It was almost there at the horizon, I couldn’t really get a glimpse of the beautiful egg yolk. Without any hesitation, I tried to head to the highest point that I can get to and that’s the Tyne’s Bridge. I ran and I walked fast and I reached Tyne’s Bridge. The sad thing was I was at the other side of the bridge, as in a wrong view. I couldn’t cross the road because the road is quite wide and many vehicles passing by.
I guess, even if I get to cross the road, I couldn’t get a good view of it too because there’s the other bridge at far end blocking the view. Not really disappointed, at least, I had a good moment chasing the sun and I found a good spot for sunrise, that’s from Tyne’s Bridge! 😀
  • Semenyih: Hiking The Broga Hill

    Semenyih: Hiking The Broga Hill

Semenyih: Hiking The Broga Hill – Finally, I hiked the Broga Hill. I have always wanted to hike this little hill at the small rural town of Semenyih for a long time. 2 years ago, I planned the trip, but it never fulfilled. Now, with 6 more months left in Kuala Lumpur, I have to explore the places around as much as I can and never come back. Haha, just kidding. It’s just that my diploma studies is ending in August and that’s why.
Beautiful trail with twinkle twinkle little torch.
Back to Broga Hill, the famous hill for hiking to the people in Klang Valley and Seremban as it’s at the border of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. It’s located very far away from the city, about 50 minutes drive from Bandar Sunway. So last week, me and friends gathered at Taylor’s University as early as 4.30am, set up the GPS and followed the navigation and GO! I’ve got to tell you, prepare to meet 4-5 tolls before reaching Broga Hill, gosh, road tolls are killing my wallet. It’s very near to Nottingham University, passed the uni and drive for another 5 minutes then you will arrive then.
We reached the place about 5.45am, there’s already many car parked at the palm plantation area (the entrance is right opposite the Rabbit Fun Land). RM2 for parking and I am not sure whether the person really own the place. Just to be safe, pay for the RM2. It’s pitched dark, and very chilly early in the morning and many people were already there for an early hike waiting to see the sunrise!
At the top! Waiting. It’s still very early.
    The leak of twilight. Lovely.
I relies on my phone’s flash light as guide, but my friends brought actual flash light to light up the hiking trail. It’s not a tall hill, but I’ve got to say, the hike is pretty challenging at some point because there’s no proper hiking steps. The hardest part is when reaching the first station where the hike gets exciting because the way up is very slanted. Be sure you have a good pair of shoes or you would just have to climb it, with hands on the floor too. HAHA.
    Gary gor!
    Henry gor!
Lin Jia and Wei Kean dailou. Nice to meet you new friend.
    Quenna and Siyi. =)
Xinli and Hooi Pheng. =) Nice to meet you new friend.
Quenna, Connie, Wei Shi and Wei Kean.
Reached the first station at about 6.45am and there’s so many people up there already! Everyone was just chatting around, taking photos, and waiting for the sunrise! What you see up there is just another hill and the small little town of Broga and Semenyih. It’s interesting that the top of the hill has no tress and it’s all couch grass.
TWILIGHT ZONE. Oh my lovely nature.
    Ghia Jun & Zee Yin.
Google told me that 7.24am was the sunrise time at Semenyih, but the actual sun rise above another hill was at about 7.40am. It takes some times for the sun to get up the hill. HAHA.
    Hello my lovely SUN.
Ah, I just love waiting for sunrise so much, it’s my new hobby lately! After that we just went down as we were hungry and it’s getting warm. Getting down seems to be more difficult than going up as it’s so steep and really have to be careful, my friend had a small bruised on her knee. Just have to be really careful, help each other at there, or just wear a tracksuit to prevent cuts and bruises from small fall.
    ME, the blogger.
    With the girls.
Love this picture a lot. Thought it would turned out silhouette, but a nice over exposed of the sun and nice composition of beautiful us. By the way, it’s all interior designers here in the photo. =D
Little stalls selling coconut and soft drinks await you at the foot hill. HAHA.
    Carpark.
Afterall, it’s a very nice and exciting hike. Sorry for writing the post that long, I will bring you to Kampung Broga and an awesome Chinese Temple with Shun Yu Kong Monkey King in the next posts. =D
  • Malacca: Good Morning, Where’s The Sunrise?

Malacca: Good Morning, Where’s The Sunrise?

    Good Morning Malacca!

Malacca: Good Morning, Where’s The Sunrise? – Hello, I just came back from Malacca people, the historical tourist city of Malaysia! I was so lazy this morning and reluctant to go out of my hotel to search for the sunrise spot, so I stayed in my room and keep my eyes out of the window.

The dragon at the entrance of Jonker Walk sprouts out water from the mouth
Looking lovely although no sun, I was facing the wrong direction. LOL

I guess, there’s some problem with my compass on my phone where the East was not really the ‘Sunrise East’ that I was looking out. Anyway, I woke up early, 5 minutes before sunrise time according to Google and waited, but find no sun rise and only a ray of sun glowing at far end. Well, I slept back after that. =D

  • Sunrise: Good Morning Singapore Straits From Marina Bay Sands

Sunrise: Good Morning Singapore Straits From Marina Bay Sands

Sunrise: Good Morning Singapore Straits From Marina Bay Sands – The hotel room at Marina Bay Sands has a good view of the Singapore Straits and you need not be surprise with all the ships parking in the middle of the sea. Come on, this is Singapore, one of the busiest port in the world. Guess that breaks the beauty of the straits. Anyway, you can get a good view of sunrise from here but then the weather has been naughty. There’s no clear blue sky, a little bit of cloudy, and here’s what I’ve got.

    Overlooking Gardens By The Bay.
    Ships and the shy Sun.

At least it’s better than the second day which I got nothing because of rain and I am pretty happy that I’ve got the photos! Yay. Lovely, still, right?

  • Sunset: Singapore City

    Sunset: Singapore City

Sunset: Singapore City – Travelled light and did not bit any big camera with me, the Panasonic Lumix LX5 is still bulky to fit into my jeans pocket so I only had a Samsung Galaxy S2 with me when I was in Singapore. So yeah, I found out that from Marina Bay Sands Boardwalk, you can get a little view of sun setting into the skyline of Singapore City. So yeah, again, the effect is kinda cool, when there’s blue sky and nice twilight.

    Sunrise: Straits Quay, Penang
Sunrise: Straits Quay, Penang – This is my long waited sunrise post. Was thinking to post it up earlier but have caught up with some school assignments. I actually went for this sunrise photoshoot about a month ago when I was in Penang for a short holiday.

I woke up as early as 6.30am, drove there in 10 minutes and it was just nice as the sky was clear! However, I’ve no idea why it was pretty warm that morning. Usually, morning is cool and fresh, but it’s not on that day.

At there, I’ve seen people jogging at there, doing some morning walk. Seems like there’s people earlier than me. Haha. Straits Quay was so quiet in the morning, not forget to mention – pretty and peaceful! Set up my tripod and then I waited! It feels good in the morning, when the air is fresh and sky is clear. Let’s check out the sunrise now. =)

(Cloudy) Sunset: George Town City Centre

Sunset: George Town City Centre – My latest sunset watching place is in the heart of George Town. Well, I’d call it the city centre of George Town. But the exact place is the carpark of 1st Avenue Shopping Mall. Haha. You can get a good view of sunset across the magnificent Penang Hill.

I went to try my luck for sunset watching few days ago but sadly, not so good, it’s kinda cloudy. Nevertheless, it was nice that I’ve found a new place for sunset watching. Awkward location, but pretty cool.

  • Balik Kampung – Sunset On Bus, Back To Penang

Balik Kampung – Back To Penang – Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all Malaysian and friends out there! I am now finally balik to my kampung – Penang. It feels so nice back here as I’ve got about a week break from class. Yeah!

Sunset watching from the bus first seat.

Traffic wasn’t that smooth last night on the express bus, there’s some jam and slow moving traffic in between. I thought it’s supposed to be smooth as it’s already day 1 of Hari Raya as many have already went back home the day before, but it’s not. Still, there’s many car on the North South Highway.

Watched Dexter to kill time, a nice drama!

Waze is a good app to tell me what’s happening ahead.

    Jam! Strawberry jam!

Happy holiday everyone and have fun!

  • Sunset: Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau, Penang

Sunset: Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau, Penang

Sunset: Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau, Penang – Not a great sunset it was, at Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau. This sunset watching place is easy to find as it’s halfway when you are on the way to Balik Pulau through Paya Terubong. It’s the mid-hill level where it’s very happenings during durian season in mid-year. There’s chair around and you can get a good view of the sun setting in the Straits of Malacca here.

Lovely Hueisean went sunset watching together.

Unfortunately, the haze was the down factor for the sunset. Anyway, it was fun checking this out and I will be back with my longer telephoto lens. The next stop in Balik Pulau, perhaps is Kampung Sungai Burong. =D Don’t really dare to go there now as it’s the Hungry Ghost Month, better get back home early before night falls.
