Nyonya Food Precious Old China Cafe, Central Market

Nyonya Lunch At Precious Old China Cafe, Central Market – Recently, I have an assignment which is to research the design of local brand restaurant in Malaysia which features strong local or South East Asia. It’s pretty hard to find such restaurant with good design in my opinion. I’ve found one which is Precious Old China Cafe which is located in the Central Market.

So I went Central Market with 2 of my group mate, Wesley and Jia Hui via LRT as Central Market is located next to Pasar Seni LRT station only.

It was early when we arrived, it was about 10.30am and the restaurant haven’t open yet, so we sat by the food court until 11am, only then we get to go inside Precious Old Cafe Restaurant to eat, see and experience the space. Haha.

Precious Old China Cafe is actually a Nyonya restaurant featuring old-Chinese-interiors design and setting. The menu range from one-dish meal to Chinese-style rice + few dishes.

I ordered myself their in-house special, Nyonya Nasi Lemak (RM10.80) which comes with purple nasi lemak. The dyed is from a kind of purple flower which is similar to the purple rice that I had in Hat Yai’s Saban-Nga Restaurant in Thailand. It’s served with curry chicken, sambal paste, some Nyonya biscuit, boiled egg, nuts, and ikan bilis. The curry chicken and the rice were awesome, but I don’t really like the sambal sauce, it’s a bit sour. After all, this dish is good.

My friend ordered himself a Nyonya Balachan Fried Rice (RM10.80). He said the rice is good, as well as the fried chicken, and it’s so much better from Old Town’s.

The food at there actually quite nice, and it’s so crowded during lunch hour, filled with people working around the area. Price wise, is above affordable, but it’s acceptable give it’s food choice, location and settings.
