Klang Valley: Burger Hub, Kelana Jaya (In Front Of Sterling Condominium)

Klang Valley: Burger Hub, Kelana Jaya (In Front Of Sterling Condominium) – Can say this is my prelude post to My Burger Lab. Haha, Anyway, I found out this little roadside burger stall from my friend Beng Tian and it’s located right in front of Sterling Condominium at Kelana Jaya. ‘Cheh, it’s just another Ramly Burger stall’, you are wrong if you think like that.
It’s totally different, at least it has a better designed logo and price a bit different. So what’s special is the patty is very thick and it’s filled with melting sinful cheese! Instead of layering one by one like cheese and egg wrap with Ramly patty, the patty it self is filled with cheese and it’s definitely not Ramly’s, some other brand or perhaps homemade. RM5 for a Hub Burger, it’s not that bad for a supper.

Singapore Trip: Holland Village & Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao – One of the place I visited during my Singapore trip few months back was Holland Village, the small town that has many nice restaurants. Brother recommended the supper all-you-can-eat steamboat buffet with unlimited Xiao Long Bao at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao restaurant which starts at 10pm. We actually made a reservation, it’s better to make a reservation as it gets crowded during this session.

#2: Part of the road is closed at night for pedestrian walking.

Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao is located in Holland Village, Singapore. We took a cab from NUS main campus and we arrived in just a few minutes. It’s pretty close. We wander around the place while waiting 10pm to arrive. We were there pretty early.

#5: Clean power box. Ours are full with advertisement on loanshark, viagra ads and more.

When 10pm reached, we went into the restaurant, the restaurant actually made our book wrong and had our book written on the yesterday page, after some discussion, they manage to get us a seat on the upper floor. Steamboat is served with two version of soup that we’ve ordered – pork bone soup and vegetable soup with lots of parsley.

Besides eating steamboat, there’s unlimited order of nice Shanghai Xiao Long Bao and desserts like toufu hau which runs out pretty quickly.

  • Magazine Road Famous Tang Yuan 头条路甜汤圆

Magazine Road Famous Tang Yuan – Magazine Road also known as Tao Tiao Lor (头条路) or literally means First Road in Penang Hokkien has a famous Tang Yuan Chinese Dessert stall that have operated for quite many years. It’d been featured on the newspaper and TV before.

Located in front of Penang’s famous landmark, KOMTAR tower and 1st Avenue Shopping Centre, you can find people hanging there at late night just to eat a couple of Chinese glutinous rice ball in a sweet and spicy ginger soup. The soup is actually a simple mixture of brown sugar, ginger and pandan leaves. Some who doesn’t like ginger can opt for normal brown sugar soup. The fragrance of the ginger is very strong that I can smell it from far.

It’s the only stall that I know up to date that operate till late night. So if you are craving for a little bit of Chinese dessert, need something to bite, you can visit this stall.

I do visit the stall some times when the night is still young that I feel like eating at late night. They only two kinds of filling in the tang yuan, one which is peanut and another is sesame. I like both of them, but if were to choose one, I like the sesame’s more. Tangyuan originally feels chewy and tasteless in mouth, the tangyuan at this stall wouldn’t be hard to chew and the first bite gets you into the fillings if you have sharp teeth which flavours your mouth with the sweet fillings. A drink of the sweet and spicy ginger soup makes the night even more refreshing.

Accompany with the little filling-less tangyuan, it’s makes the night a wonderful night.

  • Ali Mamak Stall at Pulau Tikus

Ali Mamak Stall at Pulau Tikus

I am a fan of Abu Mamak Stall that’s located on Jalan Dato Koyah, somewhere turn in when you see Kayu on Penang Rd. Nightlife people might know about this place already and I love their Fried Maggi Mee a lot. Best. And recently, after posting a live post on awayfromcomputer.com, a reader intro me another mamak stall called Ali, but it’s not in town, it’s close to Pulau Tikus area right opposite PTPL college.

The stall is on the road side of a small lane, with tables and chairs placed on the pavement. I am not sure whether Ali or the owner opporate the stall legally or not. But seems so many people eat there, it’s not a problem already.

We didn’t know what’s famous. The Malay-Indian guy introduced us some food. There’s the susu lembu milo which literally is hot milk with Milo powder. It’s good because it’s hot and it’s RM2.20.

Then I ordered a Fried Maggi Mee, curious about how different is this with Abu’s. The serving look the same, in fact the egg is prettier and the chicken tasted different. The noodle has a garlic taste which Abu don’t have but I go for Abu’s. Why? Because Abu’s is cheaper, this one at Ali cost RM7.20! OMG. Expensive.

My friend ordered a Pattaya Fried Rice. As you know, Pattaya fried rice is a very standard thing, which is fried rice wrapped with egg. This is different because is fried by mamak and it tasted spicy to me and the rice is pretty dark, and wet. My friend say not nice, I felt quite not bad. Different people have different taste. If you like dark fried rice and spicy, this might be a good one for you.

Ali, went there before or not? Abu and Ali are so not related by the way.

  • Night Char Koay Teow at Sa Tiao Lor 三条路 Gat Lebuh Presgrave

Night Char Koay Teow at Sa Tiao Lor 三条路 Gat Lebuh Presgrave

    IMG_3669 by nicholaschan

Last time I introduced before the Fried Rice at Lebuh Presgrave or more known as Sa Tiao Lor 三条路 to the locals. Last night, I went there for supper and I ordered the Char Koay Teow from the same stall that does the nice fried rice.

The char koay teow quite delicious which I likey it. Just a bit sad that there’s only 2 not very big shrimp and a little bit spicy. If the shrimp gets bigger like at Lorong Selamat, and juicy, then it will be very very good.
