Jogging To The West By River Tyne During Sunset

Jogging To The West By River Tyne During Sunset – All the while, it was just running on the treadmills at the gym here in Newcastle as the weather was quite cold previously, but as it’s getting warmer and my assignment is over right now, I can head out for a run. It was a late evening on Sunday that I went for a run by the River Tyne from Quayside. Windy, but quite fun, I ran in a direction to the west of the river, trying to chase the sunset. 4.5km down by the river side and I was at no where, very quiet on a sunday evening and only came across one of two individuals fishing by the river.

It’s really peaceful out there like suddenly I was like so far away from the city, just like being in a ‘kampung’ (village)! Newcastle is really a kampung in my opinion. HAHA. The boardwalk by the river is like never-ending and I only stop at a place when I was exhausted. Not decided to run back, it took me an hour walk back to my place! But it was fun one, as the sun was still up at 8pm and I got to see a bit of the sunset skyline by the nature.

    Sunset, rocks!

  • Sunset: Singapore City

    Sunset: Singapore City

Sunset: Singapore City – Travelled light and did not bit any big camera with me, the Panasonic Lumix LX5 is still bulky to fit into my jeans pocket so I only had a Samsung Galaxy S2 with me when I was in Singapore. So yeah, I found out that from Marina Bay Sands Boardwalk, you can get a little view of sun setting into the skyline of Singapore City. So yeah, again, the effect is kinda cool, when there’s blue sky and nice twilight.

Sunset: George Town City Centre – My latest sunset watching place is in the heart of George Town. Well, I’d call it the city centre of George Town. But the exact place is the carpark of 1st Avenue Shopping Mall. Haha. You can get a good view of sunset across the magnificent Penang Hill.

I went to try my luck for sunset watching few days ago but sadly, not so good, it’s kinda cloudy. Nevertheless, it was nice that I’ve found a new place for sunset watching. Awkward location, but pretty cool.

  • Balik Kampung – Sunset On Bus, Back To Penang

Balik Kampung – Back To Penang – Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all Malaysian and friends out there! I am now finally balik to my kampung – Penang. It feels so nice back here as I’ve got about a week break from class. Yeah!

Sunset watching from the bus first seat.

Traffic wasn’t that smooth last night on the express bus, there’s some jam and slow moving traffic in between. I thought it’s supposed to be smooth as it’s already day 1 of Hari Raya as many have already went back home the day before, but it’s not. Still, there’s many car on the North South Highway.

Watched Dexter to kill time, a nice drama!

Waze is a good app to tell me what’s happening ahead.

    Jam! Strawberry jam!

Happy holiday everyone and have fun!

  • Sunset: Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau, Penang

Sunset: Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau, Penang

Sunset: Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau, Penang – Not a great sunset it was, at Anjung Indah, Balik Pulau. This sunset watching place is easy to find as it’s halfway when you are on the way to Balik Pulau through Paya Terubong. It’s the mid-hill level where it’s very happenings during durian season in mid-year. There’s chair around and you can get a good view of the sun setting in the Straits of Malacca here.

Lovely Hueisean went sunset watching together.

Unfortunately, the haze was the down factor for the sunset. Anyway, it was fun checking this out and I will be back with my longer telephoto lens. The next stop in Balik Pulau, perhaps is Kampung Sungai Burong. =D Don’t really dare to go there now as it’s the Hungry Ghost Month, better get back home early before night falls.

    (Almost) Sunset: At Malacca Melaka

View from the bridge connecting Pulau Melaka.

(Almost) Sunset: At Malacca – Malacca does have some good places for sunset watching like by the beach of Portugese Settlement, the floating mosque (Masjid Selat Melaka) and on the bridge connecting the man-made island of Pulau Melaka. However, I didn’t get a chance to really experience the sunset as it was still early and we were rushing to queue for the famous Capitol Satay Celup. Anyway, I will plan to go back to check out some nice sunset at this historical city of Malaysia. =)

Sunset: Not So Awesome At Tanjung Bungah

Sunset: Not So Awesome At Tanjung Bungah – Last week in Penang was not awesome because it’s haze everywhere. But I still ignore the hazy weather and go out to enjoy the sunset, hoping that I could get some good one. The one at Tanjung Bungah wasn’t that nice, but it’s a fun one for me.

I went to the little beach in front fo Naza Taliyya Hotel with Kenny. I guess this place has a good view of Tanjung Bungah with beautiful seaside condominium in view. Tanjung Bungah is now famous for luxurious sea view super-condominium, how wish I can own a unit there too. =D

Well, I couldn’t really get a good view of the sun set, it just went behind the cloud. =)

  • (Almost) Sunset: Shore In Front Of E&O Hotel

(Almost) Sunset: Shore In Front Of E&O Hotel

(Almost) Sunset: Shore In Front Of E&O Hotel – I just found another way that can have a good view of sunset in George Town. It’s introduced by my brother and the location is by the shore in front of E&O (Eastern & Oriental) Hotel or Penang Bowl. Some other popular sunset spot in Penang are Balik Pulau, Batu Ferringhi & Permatang Damar Laut.

Although you can’t really see the sun set into the horizon of the vast sea, but you can frame in a good view of Gurney Drive & Tanjung Tokong with Penang Hill in background.

Penang Port, sad that it’s sold to Tanjung Pelepas Port to serve as feeder port.

    Straits Quay, Tanjung Pinang.

I parked my car at E&O Mult-story Carpark and went to shoot a while at about 7pm. It’s still early so the sun was still up above the sky. However, it’s does indeed looks nice.

Fishing activities going on at there.

Well, Penang looks good, isn’t it?

Searching For Sunset At Permatang Damar Laut – I went looking for a nice sunset at Permatang Damar Laut, Batu Maung there because I’ve seen before some nice sunset photos taken at there and some photographer friends told me that it’s a good location. Unfortunately, the sky was not blue enough and the worst was the sun was not setting at the location it supposed to be. Maybe because it’s Summer time that the sun slanted a bit? No idea. Anyway, it seems to be a good place and I will come back some other day when the sky is really clear.

  • Almost Sunset At Taylor’s University

    Almost Sunset At Taylor’s University

Almost Sunset At Taylor’s University – I am now back to the big city of Klang Valley (or common to others Kuala Lumpur), I don’t really get to see nice sunrise and sunset by the beach like I get to when I was in Penang. You know Klang Valley is a valley, the nearest shore with sandy beach is an hour away, Sepang Gold Coast, that’s far!

    Almost Sunset At Taylor's University

Well, the sunrise and sunset seeing is now in the city. Recently, I just got back my Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens from the service centre, to try out this very-long-didn’t-use lens, I took my tripod and went to the highest floor at Taylor’s University to take photos of the sunset. It was not near to dusk yet, it’s almost sunset.

    Almost Sunset At Taylor's University

At the hall way of Block E, level 8.

Nice clear blue sky after some super heavy rain which caused the Klang flood, but then the clear sky didn’t result in a round egg yolk style sunset, I realised round egg yolk sun only visible during hazy day. Nevertheless, those few shots were satisfying, I’m gonna go discover more nice location to see sunrise and sunset.

    Almost Sunset At Taylor's University
Crane at Taylor’s University, heard there’s a construction of multistory carpark is on going.

    Almost Sunset At Taylor's University
What a nice sky and sun.

Please introduce me too, perhaps go to Port Dickson for sunset watching. =D
