Sunset: Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Sunset: Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne – Because the Quayside is rather far from where I stay, about 15 minutes walk, or shall say I am lazy to go there most of the time, so I hardly get my chance to shoot the sunset, or sunrise. Few weeks back, on a Sunday evening, I finally got my lazy ass off my room and head over to Quayside. It was late, about 3 something in the afternoon where the sun was starting to go low. Winter is coming yo, and my daylight is getting short. I see that it was a good clear sky there, I quickly walked to Quayside to chase the sun!It was almost there at the horizon, I couldn’t really get a glimpse of the beautiful egg yolk. Without any hesitation, I tried to head to the highest point that I can get to and that’s the Tyne’s Bridge. I ran and I walked fast and I reached Tyne’s Bridge. The sad thing was I was at the other side of the bridge, as in a wrong view. I couldn’t cross the road because the road is quite wide and many vehicles passing by.I guess, even if I get to cross the road, I couldn’t get a good view of it too because there’s the other bridge at far end blocking the view. Not really disappointed, at least, I had a good moment chasing the sun and I found a good spot for sunrise, that’s from Tyne’s Bridge! 😀 -

Semenyih: Hiking The Broga Hill
Semenyih: Hiking The Broga Hill – Finally, I hiked the Broga Hill. I have always wanted to hike this little hill at the small rural town of Semenyih for a long time. 2 years ago, I planned the trip, but it never fulfilled. Now, with 6 more months left in Kuala Lumpur, I have to explore the places around as much as I can and never come back. Haha, just kidding. It’s just that my diploma studies is ending in August and that’s why.
Beautiful trail with twinkle twinkle little torch.
Back to Broga Hill, the famous hill for hiking to the people in Klang Valley and Seremban as it’s at the border of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. It’s located very far away from the city, about 50 minutes drive from Bandar Sunway. So last week, me and friends gathered at Taylor’s University as early as 4.30am, set up the GPS and followed the navigation and GO! I’ve got to tell you, prepare to meet 4-5 tolls before reaching Broga Hill, gosh, road tolls are killing my wallet. It’s very near to Nottingham University, passed the uni and drive for another 5 minutes then you will arrive then.We reached the place about 5.45am, there’s already many car parked at the palm plantation area (the entrance is right opposite the Rabbit Fun Land). RM2 for parking and I am not sure whether the person really own the place. Just to be safe, pay for the RM2. It’s pitched dark, and very chilly early in the morning and many people were already there for an early hike waiting to see the sunrise!
At the top! Waiting. It’s still very early.

The leak of twilight. Lovely. I relies on my phone’s flash light as guide, but my friends brought actual flash light to light up the hiking trail. It’s not a tall hill, but I’ve got to say, the hike is pretty challenging at some point because there’s no proper hiking steps. The hardest part is when reaching the first station where the hike gets exciting because the way up is very slanted. Be sure you have a good pair of shoes or you would just have to climb it, with hands on the floor too. HAHA.
Gary gor!
Henry gor!
Lin Jia and Wei Kean dailou. Nice to meet you new friend.
Quenna and Siyi. =)
Xinli and Hooi Pheng. =) Nice to meet you new friend.
Quenna, Connie, Wei Shi and Wei Kean.
Reached the first station at about 6.45am and there’s so many people up there already! Everyone was just chatting around, taking photos, and waiting for the sunrise! What you see up there is just another hill and the small little town of Broga and Semenyih. It’s interesting that the top of the hill has no tress and it’s all couch grass.
TWILIGHT ZONE. Oh my lovely nature.

Ghia Jun & Zee Yin. Google told me that 7.24am was the sunrise time at Semenyih, but the actual sun rise above another hill was at about 7.40am. It takes some times for the sun to get up the hill. HAHA.

Hello my lovely SUN. Ah, I just love waiting for sunrise so much, it’s my new hobby lately! After that we just went down as we were hungry and it’s getting warm. Getting down seems to be more difficult than going up as it’s so steep and really have to be careful, my friend had a small bruised on her knee. Just have to be really careful, help each other at there, or just wear a tracksuit to prevent cuts and bruises from small fall.

ME, the blogger.
With the girls.
Love this picture a lot. Thought it would turned out silhouette, but a nice over exposed of the sun and nice composition of beautiful us. By the way, it’s all interior designers here in the photo. =D
Little stalls selling coconut and soft drinks await you at the foot hill. HAHA.
Carpark. Afterall, it’s a very nice and exciting hike. Sorry for writing the post that long, I will bring you to Kampung Broga and an awesome Chinese Temple with Shun Yu Kong Monkey King in the next posts. =D -

Malacca: Good Morning, Where’s The Sunrise?

Good Morning Malacca! Malacca: Good Morning, Where’s The Sunrise? – Hello, I just came back from Malacca people, the historical tourist city of Malaysia! I was so lazy this morning and reluctant to go out of my hotel to search for the sunrise spot, so I stayed in my room and keep my eyes out of the window.

The dragon at the entrance of Jonker Walk sprouts out water from the mouth
Looking lovely although no sun, I was facing the wrong direction. LOL I guess, there’s some problem with my compass on my phone where the East was not really the ‘Sunrise East’ that I was looking out. Anyway, I woke up early, 5 minutes before sunrise time according to Google and waited, but find no sun rise and only a ray of sun glowing at far end. Well, I slept back after that. =D

Sunrise: Good Morning Singapore Straits From Marina Bay Sands
Sunrise: Good Morning Singapore Straits From Marina Bay Sands – The hotel room at Marina Bay Sands has a good view of the Singapore Straits and you need not be surprise with all the ships parking in the middle of the sea. Come on, this is Singapore, one of the busiest port in the world. Guess that breaks the beauty of the straits. Anyway, you can get a good view of sunrise from here but then the weather has been naughty. There’s no clear blue sky, a little bit of cloudy, and here’s what I’ve got.

Overlooking Gardens By The Bay.
Ships and the shy Sun. At least it’s better than the second day which I got nothing because of rain and I am pretty happy that I’ve got the photos! Yay. Lovely, still, right?

Sunrise: Straits Quay, Penang
Sunrise: Straits Quay, Penang – This is my long waited sunrise post. Was thinking to post it up earlier but have caught up with some school assignments. I actually went for this sunrise photoshoot about a month ago when I was in Penang for a short holiday.I woke up as early as 6.30am, drove there in 10 minutes and it was just nice as the sky was clear! However, I’ve no idea why it was pretty warm that morning. Usually, morning is cool and fresh, but it’s not on that day.
At there, I’ve seen people jogging at there, doing some morning walk. Seems like there’s people earlier than me. Haha. Straits Quay was so quiet in the morning, not forget to mention – pretty and peaceful! Set up my tripod and then I waited! It feels good in the morning, when the air is fresh and sky is clear. Let’s check out the sunrise now. =)

Sunrise: Teluk Tempoyak @ Batu Maung, Penang
Sunrise: Teluk Tempoyak @ Batu Maung, Penang – Checking out sunrise/sunset is one of my favourite thing to do now. The moment seeing the sun rises from the horizon, sun ray penetrating the dark sky is like greeting you of a coming new day, the feeling is just awesome. However, it’s not easy to wake up early for me. HAHA. Anyway, let’s check out some sunrise that I went watching at Teluk Tempoyak, a fishing village at Batu Maung, Penang few weeks back.
Many friends told me that Teluk Tempoyak has the best sunrise in Penang, with the view of second Penang Bridge at the background and with clear blue sky, it’s even prettier. It was far from my place, took about 30 minutes to reach there. The fishing village was quiet in the morning. I was afraid that no sunrise can be seen because of the strong haze present on that morning. I waited anxiously with my girlfriend Hueisean for the sunrise.
The haze looks like fog in picture and it makes me feels like Hangzhou, China. =D
The place is a mix of peaceful nature and a bit of messiness. One side, you can see green hill and hear the sound of the wave hitting the shore, another side you can see the construction of Second Penang Bridge. It was just two of us at the shore waiting for sunrise, we waited not long, about 7.25am, we saw the little round sun up in the air. Although there’s no clear blue sky, the sighting was cool with a red round sun blending with the view of Second Penang Bridge. Awesome.
Me and her.
The Golden Sun, reminded me of the game on Gameboy Advance.
Hueisean posing on the bridge.
Just sad that it’s not a clear blue sky morning. If I’ve got omph next time, I’ll come back again, it’s pretty far to me. Haha. After the sunrise, we went for breakfast at Church Street.

Hazy Sunrise At Tanjung Tokong
Hazy Sunrise At Tanjung Tokong – Few days ago while I was still in Penang, I woke up early, at about 7am to check out and see if there’s any nice sunrise from my condo’s balcony. Unfortunately, NOT! It’s so hazy, haze it’s not really a problem, but it’s the cloud that blocks away the sun.
At some point, I could see the big red round sun, but a few minutes later, it’s gone! It’s risen into the thick cloud.
I went back to my bed after that. =D Very addicted to sunrise/sunset lately, they are the most beautiful moment of the day.

Sunrise At Chew Jetty, Penang
Sunrise At Chew Jetty, Penang – Last time, I went to Jelutong Expressway, near the fishing village there to photograph the sunrise but it was kinda fail. Then I went to Chew Jetty for sunrise, it’s not golden orange sun, yet the effect, the sky, the cloud and everything are awesome. Not perfect, but I like it.
Well, I’ve realised my friends here in Kuala Lumpur don’t really know how Penang looks like and how awesome she is. Some have not even been to Penang, they thought Penang is just beaches and Penang Bridge, that’s all, they don’t know how beautiful the city is now is. Haha. So now, I want to share to them some nice sunrise photo from a seaside settlement of Chew Jetty, a settlement/Chinese village that has over 100 years of history, and super happenings during Chinese New Year. The local Chinese movie – Ice Kacang Puppy Love was filmed here too!

6.55am. Still dark, but dawn is here already!
7.00am. Still dawn, I saw 2 photography enthusiasts at there too! So I was not the first one. They are really early!
7.15am. Twilight is here. Beautiful ferry is crossing the straits to Butterworth.
7.17am. Fall in love with the beauty of a Bukit Mertajam in this picture. Bukit Mertajam is a township on Seberang Perai (Province Wellesley), Penang and it’s the highest peak at there. The hill look so calm.
7.25am. Mr Sun is almost waking up from horizon after a long quiet and peaceful night.
7.38am. Mr Sun is up! Couldn’t identify the round shape, but the red hot eye is looking across the sea.
7.40am. Zoom in and you see Butterworth, the mainland of Penang.Heard that Teluk Tempoyak has the best sunrise in Penang, wonder when can I check it out. Haha.

Cloudy Sunrise At Jelutong Expressway
Cloudy Sunrise At Jelutong Expressway – There’s so many nice sunrise-watching & photography spots in Penang. How wish that I can explore more right now, but then I couldn’t because I am now in Kuala Lumpur. Gonna find some nice spot here too.
Few weeks back, I went to Jelutong Expressway to scout for a good spot to do sunrise photography. It’s somewhere near the fishing house, I couldn’t find it at first. I’ve seen many people go there to take photograph, but I have no idea which is the best spot. It’s not really comfortable at there because of the mosquitoes, better prepare an insect repellant to prevent mosquito aedes.
Well, the sky was not clear that day, it’s cloudy and so the sun could not really be seen, it’s just the beauty of dawn and twilight.
What’s your favourite spot to see sunrise? =)

Zhouzhuang: Early Morning Check Out The Sunrise
Click here to read more about my China Trip.
China Trip – 周庄 Zhouzhuang: Early Morning Check Out The Sunrise (Day 3)– It’s 6.15am when my alarm of my mobile phone rang. Reluctant to wake up, I lay on the bed for a little while, my brother too. I got up, pour myself a glass of water to recharge my water level, and discharge the unwanted water in the toilet. It’s cold in the toilet. Brushed up, dressed up, prepared my camera, and off we went for a walk in Zhouzhuang to see the sunrise.
We’ve check the sunrise time and it’s about 6.40am. Upon stepping foot out of the inn, icy cold air pinched my face. It’s 1 degree celcius. Surprisingly, this cold is not as cold as the day before, although it’s cold, I felt good, acceptable, except that my hand must have glove on all the time, and my scarf too.

Aunty/Ah Mah selling tea leaves. The sun rises already when we were out, outside was bright but quiet and cold. There’s no people on the walkway. While we were heading East, we bumped up with an aunty, carrying goods to sell. It’s really early for her, we bought a pack of Ah Po tea leaves from her for 10RMB. We continue heading to east of Zhouzhuang to see the sun.

The beautiful canal in Zhouzhuang.
I can see the shine of sunlight.
This is me, in 1 degree celcius.
I wonder how can she stand the cold weather and water.
Picking up leaves and trash on the water.Although the sun has rises, it’s just nice that it’s still near the horizon. There’s no tourist out at that time, except locals bring their kids to school, washing cloth by the canal, and clearing up the fallen leaves and trash on the canal. They are strong, I see some of them do not wear gloves on their hand.

At the east side of Zhouzhuang, there’s a park, a temple and a bridge. The bridge actually connects to the outer area of Zhouzhuang, which is not under the ancient water town. It’s not open to public, but the gate was open, so we went to the bridge to check it out. The other side of the beach is a housing area, not under Zhouzhuang ancient water town.

In the shops selling those Wan Shan Hock (pork knuckles), I wonder do they change to a fresh one everyday because I see not many people buying it.
It’s worth to wake up early that morning, it should have been earlier, but still OK. We went to eat a little food at a small shop which actually cater for locals, I ate a herbal egg cha ye dan, it’s only 1.5RMB. Later, we headed back to hotel again, for half an hour sleep before going out again to explore more of Zhouzhuang.
