Klang Valley: 麺屋武蔵 Awesome Menya Musashi Ramen @ Isetan, 1 Utama
Menya Musashi is located in Eat Paradise of Isetan in 1 Utama shopping mall. It’s very easy to find, beside it is just another ramen restaurant (Gantetsu) which some said its nice too! The restaurant does not has very fancy design, it’s a very small restaurant with lots of samurai poster. The name of the restaurant comes from the legendary Edo-era swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi. That’s explain the samurai illustration around this little restaurant. It’s a very happy and cheerful atmosphere at there because the staff, the chefs all are shouting at each other, actually greeting you in Japanese. You actually start out at the entrance where you take a look at the menu, then you order, make payment only then seated. It’s very easy to order, firstly you choose the type of soup you want, then type of ramen and ingredient and voila, you are done. Other wise, you can pick some side dishes like Gyoza or there’s a nice Chashu Gohan, rice with chashu pork! Yummeh. So what I ordered was a bowl of Kuro Ajitama Ramen and a Chashu Gohan. Sky juice was free in the restaurant. Talking about the Kuro Ajitama Ramen, Kuro is the broth which made from special garlic oil and fried shallow and it’s brownish black! To be surprised, the soup tasted very very good, and I even perfected it with some extra fried garlic and their special chili oil. The ramen was springy and the tamago egg was just nicely half-boiled. 2 big pieces of Chashu pork with some bamboo shoots cheered up my dinner for that night.Another dish was the Chashu Gohan, a rice filled with sweet chashu pork and lots of welsh onion. This is nice too and it costs only RM9. I added some fried garlic into the rice to add a bit of crunchy-ness to compliment to the chashu and welsh onion.Everything was so good, the people, the friendly chefs who always greeting loudly, and shouted like a samurai when making noodles, the ramen, the rice were just great. However, price wise was a bit high as the ramen was RM29. Overall, this is good, and I finished up the soup. Klang Valley: Crispy Siu Yuk & Char Siew Rice, SS2 Wai Sek Kai
Klang Valley: Crispy Siu Yuk & Char Siew Rice, SS2 Wai Sek Kai – Now only I know that the SS2 Murni doesn’t open for lunch, they are open for dinner only! I thought that the other outlet of Murni Discovery opens for lunch and this original outlet too. I wanted to eat Claypot Lao Shu Fen for lunch, but ended up at the SS2 Wai Sek Kai.There’s not many stalls open for lunch too at this SS2 Wai Sek Kai, but you can find some Mixed Rice stalls, noodle stalls and also this Ah Seng Hainan Chicken Rice Stall. So my lunch was here!Opens from lunch till dinner, the stall sells Hainanese Chicken Rice, Char Siew, Siew Yuk, Wan Tan Mee and porridge. Didn’t have much feeling for chicken so it was Char Siew & Siew Yuk and it costs RM5.50 for it. It also comes with a compliment of bitter-gourd soup that soothes the dry plate of rice. The Siew Yuk is has crispy skin which is very nice and the BBQ Char Siew is sweet enough but then it’s not overly BBQ-ed which lack a bit of burned taste. The rice on the other hand is oily and OK-good.Well, to sum up, this is quite a good stall for Chicken, Char Siew and Siew Yuk rice in SS2. =)SS2 Wai Sek Kai / SS2 Medan Selera (Stall 3)Jalan SS 2/61,Petaling Jaya, Selangor.View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Klang Valley: Wan Tan Mee @ Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam, Aman Suria
Klang Valley: Wan Tan Mee @ Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam, Aman Suria (Revisited) – The last time I came to this Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam was to eat the Curry Wan Tan Mee for lunch. Today, I revisited the kopitiam for lunch again with my colleagues but instead of Curry Wan Tan Mee, I ordered the dry Wan Tan Mee, the standard Wan Tan Mee with soy sauce and real wan tan.In addition, I requested for Char Siu & Siu Yok which costed RM6.50 for this plate of noodle. To be surprised, it’s awesomelicious! The springy noodle accompany with sweet BBQ Char Siu and crispy skin Siu Yok is perfect match. The soy sauce is special too, not overly salty but a bit oily. Though, if there’s some Kailan or Choi Sum vegetable, it would be even wonderful.Afterall, lunch was satisfied and I will come back again. =)UPDATE: The stall has moved.Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam19-2A, Jalan PJU 1/3C,Sunway Mas Commercial Center,Aman Suria, 47301View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Klang Valley: 鸟人 Bird Man Cafe & Restaurant
Klang Valley: 鸟人 Bird Man Cafe & Restaurant – What a funny name for a restaurant – Bird Man! The person who started the restaurant is really very ‘bird’. So jiao. During high school, I always call those playful and talk cock people as bird man. Haha. Anyway, I have 7+ months left to reside in this big city of Kuala Lumpur, so I have to explore as much as I can including Bird Man.
Me, Jason and Henry.
Siyi, Hooi Peng, Quenna, Connie, me, Jason & Henry. So, after work, I went to meet up my friends who are interns at another company for dinner at Kota Damansara and they brought me to this Bird Man. At first, I was like ‘What?! Jiao Lang? Bird Man?????’, then I saw it, it’s really a restaurant with a lame name. The owner must be a very bird bird man.
Grilled Black Pepper Chicken Chiop.
Shabu-shabu Beef Rice.
Unagi Rice.
Ramen with full boiled egg instead of half boiled tamago egg. Hmmmmm….
My Portugese Cheese Baked Chicken Rice. =(
Toast with Ice Cream, the only thing that looks good. It seems to be tempting with the tagline of ‘contemporary international dining’. The menu does indeed looks interesting ranging from Western to Asian Oriental food and it made me confuse of what to order. From the recommendation of the bird staff, I ordered my self a Portugese Cheese Baked Chicken Rice (RM12.90). Hmm, hmm, hmm, not that nice as I expected. Perhaps it’s not a good cheese and the chicken was just fried chicken. Bad choice for me. I asked my friends how their food taste like and all of them gave me a very neutral answer of OKOK-only.So, this Bird Man place is place that I will go for once only. Enjoyed the gather, not bird food. Blahhh. Time to sleep and thinking of where to eat in this coming days. =D Perhaps you can intro some nice food at Kota Damansara to me too?The Bird Man Cafe & Restaurant43G, Jalan PJU 5/21,The Strand, Kota Damansara,Petaling Jaya 47800, Malaysia.Telephone: +603-61424885View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger mapPhotos are taken with Samsung Galaxy Note 2 & Samsung Galaxy Camera (Henry’s). -

Klang Valley: My Burger Lab
Klang Valley: My Burger Lab – It’s time to get burger-ism with My Burger Lab @ Seapark, PJ after trying out some nice roadside burger. This name has becoming a trend lately that more and more people are talking about it. It’s a burger cafe in Seapark where it gets very crowded as early as 6pm. Crazily, some blog wrote the queue started as early as 4.30pm and the queue will never get short until late night.Nevertheless, I didn’t went early to be first to buy a burger, I was there at about 7.20pm and what I saw was a real long queue from inside to the outside. O.O It took me and Beng Tian about 20 minutes to get the front of the queue. Friendly staff was standing by the queue to give recommendation of their burger. Inside was overly crowded and the whole atmosphere was very happenings with mostly youngster. I checked Foursquare for tips, and many written that it’s over-rated, not worth the queue and OKOK-only lah.Well, I ordered their signature burger A+ Set (with fries and bottomless soft drinks) @ RM15 + RM6 while my friend ordered a Curry Crunch Set too @ RM15.50 + RM6. The 6 dollar is the additional charge for set.So we waited for a seat, sit down and wait for our name to be called. “212, Mr Nicholas, your burger is ready!”. It’s time to burger! Blacky gray charcoal bun looks added a uniqueness to the burger with deep fried fries perfecting the meal. A+ burger is filled with sharp cheddar, caramelised onion (woah!), shiitake & enoki mushrooms. The beef patty is succulent thick and a little bit of self add on mustard make it even awesome for me. Fries on the hand is nicely fried with garlic clove which is interesting. The overall experience was good, it’s burgerlicious, price wise is on the high side and if there’s not a long queue, it would just be even better. Come back again? Yeah, when I am ready to queue again. My Burger LabNo. 14, Jalan 21/22,Seapark 46300 Petaling Jaya,MalaysiaBusiness Hours: 5pm – 10.30pm (Tues – Sun)View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Evening At Seapark With Flying Wan Tan Mee
Evening At Seapark With Flying Wan Tan Mee – Suddenly have the urge to take photos, it’s time for my ultimate Canon EOS 60D with Sigma 30mm f1.4 to go out for a trip. Saturday night was not just staying at home, online and TV for me; I went out to Seapark to find My Burger Lab for some burger-licious dinner with my friend Beng Tian.Accidentally, on the way to My Burger Lab, I found this very cool stall of Wan Tan Mee by the roadside, the Wan Tan Mee guy tossed the noodle so high in the air as the final move of cooking the noodle. I believe it’s to cool the noodle down a bit after cooking. After Googling around, the local call it the Flying Wan Tan Mee. Interesting, interesting and I want to try next time!My friend was the one who actually found out the flying Wan Tan Mee at there. I didn’t really notice it at first, then we waited about 10 minutes until people made an order, only then the guy did the stun. Haha. Good thing is, I’ve got the shot!Oh god, hungry now! Have you seen Flying Wan Tan Mee before? -

Klang Valley: Square Dotz Cafe @ SS2

Klang Valley: Square Dotz Cafe @ SS2 – Invited by a friend, Arvin to check out the Square Dotz Cafe at SS2 few days back as there’s some sort like a music night where indie bands play and sing song. I didn’t really stay long for the music but it was a cool one.
Square Dotz Cafe located in one of the bungalow in the SS2 neighbourhood. When I’ve got invited to there, I thought it’s some sort like the music cafe, the Chinese call those 民歌餐厅 Min Ge Can Ting, turned out it’s a bright little cafe with very simple decoration. What’s interesting is the murals which were painted by a group of Taylor’s University architecture students. I’ve no idea who they are. Haha. It’s kinda hard to classify this restaurant, it’s a mix of local food with a bit of western food. Fusion, I assume.
Friends told me the food were pretty expensive, but it seems to be still OK with price all less than RM20. They’ve decided to eat somewhere else and only ordered a drinks there. Well, since I was there already, why not try out their specialties?
Here’s my order, Beef Rendang with Basmati Rice (RM16.90). You can opt for chicken instead and the whole presentation does looks good to me. Basmati rice is those Indian rice and its fragrance was interesting and nice. As for the beef rendang which has a good aroma, but then I wish it to be more spicy that it will be awesome. Overall, it’s not a bad try.

Klang Valley: Curry Wan Tan Mee @ Aman Suria (Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam)
Klang Valley: Curry Wan Tan Mee @ Aman Suria (Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam) – Now I have started working as an intern at a small interior design firm in Aman Suria,so I get to try different different food around that area during lunch and some times dinner too. Few days ago, my colleagues brought me to Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam to try out the Curry Wan Tan Mee.It’s a typical Chinese coffee shop but there’s only one stall operating during lunch hour and that’s the Curry Wan Tan Mee. At first, the colleagues told me we were going for “Curry Mee”, I thought it’s the same as Penang Curry Mee but turned out different. There’s only yellow noodle and the wan tan mee noodle, there’s no bee hoon mee or koay teow. Then you can pick the choice of fried wantan, siu yok (sio bak), char siu (cha sio) and/or si hum (cockles) for the ingredient of your noodle.I picked wantan mee noodle with si hum and siu yok (sio bak) and it costed me RM5.50 for that medium bowl of noodle. The stall was very generous in putting the ingredient as there’s plenty of cockles and siu yok. It’s a OK-good bowl of curry mee, with nice siu yok too, it’s just that it’s not spicy enough for me. If it has the Penang Curry Mee-type of chili paste then it will be awesome.Shang Yi Fatt Kopitiam19-2A, Jalan PJU 1/3C,Sunway Mas Commercial Center,Aman Suria, 47301

Klang Valley: Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie

The exterior of Levain. Looks pretty cool. Klang Valley: Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie – ‘Boulangerie’ means bread shop and ‘Patisserie’ means a type of French or Belgian bakery that specializes in pastries and sweets and ‘Levain’ is the name of the restaurant/cafe/bakery that located near the very busy area of Jalan Imbi/Bukit Bintang, but then it’s hidden around that area on a row of bungalow houses.

The restaurant.
They are famous for macaroons! If you are from around KL, then you will know about Levain, but if you are like me from Penang. nevermind, let me bring you there now. I’ve heard some good reviews from my KL friends and finally I get to visit it during a lunch with my dear Clarice. It’s not very hard to find actually, but GPS leaded me there.

Ohhh, so many cakes! So pretty! It looks pretty awesome inside with bakery at the entrance and sittings inside and also outside. Since it’s my first time, I don’t really know how to order, the person asked us to find a seat ourselves and that’s it. After asking again, it’s actually order your food at the counter, you can pick some pastry too, and then tell them your table number when ordering, pay it and wait your food to be served. It took me some times to do the ordering because I didn’t know what to order at first, there’s so many nice food on the menu and I want them all.

Wahhh, OKOK-only. So, I ordered their famous a Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio (RM12.50), a Mushroom Chicken Soup (RM6.50) and a Turkey Ham & Cheese With Rice Pizza (RM18 for Large).

I like this! Mushroom chicken soup!
Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio. Yums.
Turkey Ham & Cheese with Rice. Wanted to try more by stomach couldn’t take more already. I like the Mushroom Chicken Soup, it’s so creamy and the Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio is nice too. For the pizza, I feel so-so only, because I don’t really fancy rice on it, and not that much of meat. You maybe will like it, but not me.

Me and Clarice.

Clarice looking happy after the meal! Overall, it’s a nice place, and I’ll come back to try more, perhaps the fresh baked pastry.

Klang Valley: Miraku Japanese Restaurant, Paradigm Mall
Petaling Jaya: Miraku Japanese Restaurant, Paradigm Mall – Miraku, Miraku, Mi-rak-U! Sounds familiar to you or not? It’s the same restaurant at the G Hotel Penang, and it’s now at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya. I’ve been in Penang for so long but never went to the one in G Hotel because I always think it’s very classy and elegant and exclusive, but suddenly it appears in a normal shopping mall here in Petaling Jaya. Funny?
Selling the same food, with the same name but locates in a very hidden area of the mall, Miraku didn’t has much visitors on yesterday’s lunch. In fact, there’s like two tables only.
They have set menu, starting from RM20++ and I’ve got to say, the staff were really friendly, maybe there’s not many people to serve, I guess? Haha.
It’s a gathering lunch with a long time no see friend, Wanyi who has just came back from Australia, who were also in the same class when I was in Semester 1 and 2 in Taylor’s University. Yeah.
Talking about food, price is already standard, more than average yet acceptable to me. So I guess, I might visit the one at G Hotel Penang the next time. I ordered myself a Gyu-don Set, and I’ll let the food picture tell you the stories now!

Appetizer for all, a chicken something salad with broccoli and some other stuff. OK-yummy.
Sushi-Set.
Chicken Teriyaki Set, with rice.
Oh-gosh, I’ve forgotten the name of this Udon, it’s cold by the way.
Tempura and Sashimi set, which seems very very interesting!
The Sushi and Tempura Set which is also very interesting.
A group shot of us. Headcount time! – Me, Connie, Danille (nice to meet you), Quenna, Wanyi, Arvin and Henry.
Picture steal from Quenna’s instagram. =D Total bill bombed us with RM290 for 7 of us, but happily and surprisingly, we got a 30% discount because Henry has a HSBC credit card! Oh, that’s a lot of discount with a final bill of RM200. Moreover we were given an extra RM20 of cash voucher.
Very good service, food is also very good and fresh which I like, but it’s not my always-visit Japanese restaurant, because of the price, or until I get a HSBC credit card first. Haha.
