  • Best Penang Asam Laksa In Klang Valley @ Asia Cafe, SS15

Best Penang Asam Laksa In Klang Valley @ Asia Cafe, SS15

Best Penang Asam Laksa In Klang Valley @ Asia Cafe, SS15 – Ladies and gentleman, I have found the best Penang Asam Laksa in Klang Valley and it’s located at the famous Asia Cafe at SS15, Subang Jaya!

I am always in search of good Penang-food in Klang Valley, when I craved from Asam Laksa, I usually will go to the Kedah Asam Laksa at Taman Bahagia open-air food court there. Now, this new one at Asia Cafe will probably replace my visit to Taman Bahagia.

Why it’s so good? Because it’s run by the daughter of the famous Air Itam Asam Laksa in Penang! So it’s very authentic. Price is of course higher than Penang, at RM5.00 per bowl. They sell Curry Mee also, but I am more interested in Asam Laksa and the original stall in Penang does not sell Curry Mee.

Taste wise is very good. I finish the soup, but then one imperfection is there’s very little fish in the soup. Too bad.

I won’t abandon Taman Bahagia’s Kedah Asam Laksa, I will visit both as they have different taste. =)

  • Famous 45-Minutes Pork Noodle @ Ooi Noodle House, SS15

Famous 45-Minutes Pork Noodle @ Ooi Noodle House, SS15

Famous 45-Minutes Pork Noodle @ Ooi Noodle House, SS15 – My friend told me about a famous pork noodle (g yok fun) in SS15, Subang Jaya. I didn’t really bother about until a day, suddenly my mind feels like finding it. I search on Foursquare about the location and I not really sure, it says ‘Famous 45-minutes Pork Noodle’, so I follow the map on Foursquare and reaches this Ooi Noodle House.

I asked for 2 bowls of pork noodles, koay teow and the person told me, “Need to wait 45-minutes wor…”. I was like, really?

I went in to the cafe, it was tea time about 3pm, I saw many people were waiting for the pork noodle, reading newspaper, playing with iPhone and iPod. Seems like everyone is OK with the wait, so me and my dear Hueisean waited together, chatting the way to our pork noodle to arrive.

It costs RM5/bowl and to be honest, the soup is really tasty. It’s very sweet and ‘pork-ful’. There’s sinful deep fried lard, minced meat, pork liver, sliced lean pork and vegetable. I guess it really lives off with the name of 45-minutes pork noodle. I’ve got to say, it worth the wait (once in a while). I really like the pork noodle, but the wait is kinda long somehow, have to wait for the mood comes again and I’ll visit the shop – Ooi Noodle House.

My Penang friend, Yiphing and Chien Chern came to dinner with me and after dinner we didn’t know where to go, randomly suggested SS15. At SS15, we randomly came to Mocato Tea because it’s something new that we haven’t try before. It’s quieter there, and the interior ambience is kinda cool too! They have Unifi hotspot somemore for high speed Internet.

Actually nowadays bubble tea feels all the same to me, Gong Cha, Chatime, Sharetea and so many more. It’s just for the fun of drinking it and spending time at a different environment. I ordered myself a Black Jelly Milk Tea (RM5.90 regular cup) and it’s actually standard milk tea with a kind of stripe chewy black jelly. Very springy, very Q, but I prefer pearl more.

  • Snowflake Taiwanese Dessert At SS15 Is Wonderful

Snowflake Taiwanese Dessert At SS15 Is Wonderful

Victor and Yong Xiang introduced me about this Snowflake Taiwanese Dessert cafe at SS15, just right opposite of the famous-to-student Asia Cafe. By hearing the name, I thought it was just some typical snowy type dessert. In fact, it’s not what I was expected and it’s something that I come across for the first time.

Located right opposite of Asia Cafe on the first floor, so you might need to look up to spot the cafe when you pass by that place.

It was Thursday night and it’s already 1030pm, but then the crowds kept coming in and the queue was pretty long. Whole house was filled with people and I started wondering what’s so awesome about this Snowflake. So I made my way through the line and ordered my very first Snowflakes Special Hot, I was have a fly at that time.

After ordering my dessert, I was given a round gadget thing which they called it the Beeping UFO. Makes me felt so Star Wars or Star Trek and it’s pretty cool. I took the thing to my table to wait for my command from the spaceship captain.

After 5-10 minutes of waiting, it blinked and vibrated. I knew that I was ready to go to my spaceship.

So here’s what I ordered, you see nothing right? It’s actually grass jelly with peanut and taroballs. You will think, “what?! grassjelly?” I tell you, the grass jelly is different from what you order out there, it’s, just special. And the taroballs is something chewy and nice to put inside my mouth. I have no idea how to describe it. Although I ordered a hot one, but then it came out warm which didn’t burn my tongue or throat and turned out nice.

I recommend this place. =D Too bad they didn’t offer WiFi at there, else I would be sitting at there all night long surfing the net and blog more already.

They have another outlet at Pavilion too. So in case you are far from SS15, Subang Jaya, you can check out the one in Pavilion. =)

  • Real Spicy Batu Road Chilli Pan Mee at Taipan, USJ

Real Spicy Batu Road Chilli Pan Mee at Taipan, USJ

Pan Mee is always a soup based to me when I was in Penang. Later then I got approached with dry pan mee, which basically pan mee with soy sauce. Stalls in Penang has “Sarawak” in front of the name “pan mee”, I asked my Sarawakian friend about pan mee at there but he told me he doesn’t really know about pan mee being famous in Sarawak. Until now, I don’t know where is the really originality of pan mee. Last week, a blogger friend, Yong Xiang brought me to Taipan, USJ there to try out a famous Chilli Pan Mee.

Basically, Chilli Pan Mee is actually dry pan mee later then add in the dry chilli paste, stir your noodle and it will become Chilli Pan Mee. I was curious and I am a spicy eater so I ordered a bowl to eat.

It comes with a soup in case your noodle is too dry, you can add some soup to wet your noodle.

Normal Pan Mee with dry ikan bilis and minced meat and an egg. Simple as that, but when the homemade spicy chilli paste is added, it tasted all different. And what I wanted to say is, it’s really very very spicy! It’s different from bitting the little cut chilli, or chilli sauce. The Chinese called it 麻辣 (mandarin: ma1 la4) which numb your taste bud and give you a spicy feel. It’s not instant and it’s the most spiciest feel ever. I saw Yong Xiang added 3 scoop of the chilli paste and I added 2 scoop and it’s really very spicy. I wonder how he could eat it.

For newbie, I recommend you to start with half a scoop to feel the taste first. If it’s not enough only add more. If you have a bad stomach, you better don’t eat it. You will feel it when you go to toilet the next day.

We also ordered a bowl of 水饺 (mandarin: shui2 jiao3) Chinese Water Dumplings. This is good, something which balance the taste buds from spiciness. What’s so good is the soup of course, but the best is the dumpling which is big and filled with many ingredient in it. I like this.

Overall, this place is pretty cool, but next time for sure I will not add in so many chilli paste already, it’s crazy.
