Klang Valley: Hakata Ippudo Ramen, Pavilion
Klang Valley: Hakata Ippudo Ramen, Pavilion – Ramen craze back again. Ever since I had ramen in Singapore – Marutama & Ippudo, then at 1 Utama – Menya Musashi, I am so in love with very good ramen and the soup. I had Ippudo in Singapore before so I know it’s good, the recent opening of the outlet at Pavilion, KL makes me feels excited and so last week I went to try it out with my babe.We went there with an exciting and hungry feeling. Just as in Singapore, you have to wait, not queue, but give your name to the receptionist and they will call your name when it’s ready to be seated. Not so long for 2 seats, less than 10 minutes of wait and we were in!The interiors are very interesting, modern, mysterious, dark with loud pop music playing, just as the outlet in Mandarin Gallery, Singapore, but bigger space. Without much hesitation, it’s food time!We ordered a Akamaru Tamago (RM30+) which the soup is cooked with Ippudo’s secret miso, garlic oil, belly chasu served with kikurage, bean sprouts and spring onions. Awesome max, I suggest you get this instead of the standard Shiromaru Motoaji. Yummy, but it’s a little bit salty, but after all it’s good. (On par with Menya Musashi’s but I tend to favor towards Menya’s because I can control the soup with the garlic and chili oil). There’s also rice – Hakata Meshi (RM11+) which is rice topped with chashu and mentaiko, served with shredded egg omeletter. This is a nice one too!Lastly, the small side dish that we ordered was the Baruketsu Tofu (RM18+), spicy tofu and minced pork with crispy noodle in hot stone pot. Somehow, the one I had in Singapore was nicer as the noodle was way crispier and the gravy was more saturated, it’s a bit waterish here.Nice atmosphere and location for ramen, price wise cheaper than in Singapore, but if were to pick the best ramen broth, sorry my choice will go to Menya Musashi.Hakata Ippudo Ramen (below GSC)Level 4, Pavilion Shopping Mall,Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.Telephone: +603-21106233View Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger mapPictures are taken with Canon EOS 60D + Tamron F/2.8 17-55mm -

Klang Valley: 麺屋武蔵 Awesome Menya Musashi Ramen @ Isetan, 1 Utama
Klang Valley: 麺屋武蔵 Awesome Menya Musashi Ramen @ Isetan, 1 Utama – Recently, I am getting in love with ramen, this feeling started ever since my brother brought me to Marutama and Ippudu ramen in Singapore. Now, those ramen restaurants are now available in Malaysia and I found some other good one too, just like this Menya Musashi ramen which origins from Japan!Menya Musashi is located in Eat Paradise of Isetan in 1 Utama shopping mall. It’s very easy to find, beside it is just another ramen restaurant (Gantetsu) which some said its nice too! The restaurant does not has very fancy design, it’s a very small restaurant with lots of samurai poster. The name of the restaurant comes from the legendary Edo-era swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi. That’s explain the samurai illustration around this little restaurant. It’s a very happy and cheerful atmosphere at there because the staff, the chefs all are shouting at each other, actually greeting you in Japanese. You actually start out at the entrance where you take a look at the menu, then you order, make payment only then seated. It’s very easy to order, firstly you choose the type of soup you want, then type of ramen and ingredient and voila, you are done. Other wise, you can pick some side dishes like Gyoza or there’s a nice Chashu Gohan, rice with chashu pork! Yummeh. So what I ordered was a bowl of Kuro Ajitama Ramen and a Chashu Gohan. Sky juice was free in the restaurant. Talking about the Kuro Ajitama Ramen, Kuro is the broth which made from special garlic oil and fried shallow and it’s brownish black! To be surprised, the soup tasted very very good, and I even perfected it with some extra fried garlic and their special chili oil. The ramen was springy and the tamago egg was just nicely half-boiled. 2 big pieces of Chashu pork with some bamboo shoots cheered up my dinner for that night.Another dish was the Chashu Gohan, a rice filled with sweet chashu pork and lots of welsh onion. This is nice too and it costs only RM9. I added some fried garlic into the rice to add a bit of crunchy-ness to compliment to the chashu and welsh onion.Everything was so good, the people, the friendly chefs who always greeting loudly, and shouted like a samurai when making noodles, the ramen, the rice were just great. However, price wise was a bit high as the ramen was RM29. Overall, this is good, and I finished up the soup. Yummeh.Menya Musashi2nd Floor, Eat Paradise @ Isetan 1 Utama.Telephone: +603-7713-7777Business Hours: Sun – Thurs 11am-10pmFri, Sat & Public Holiday 11am – 10.30pmView Shiok Or Not : Food & Travel Map in a larger map -

Singapore: Ippudo Ramen, Mandarin Gallery

Yeah, the shop front. Singapore: Ippudo Ramen, Mandarin Gallery – This ramen is a bomb! Not the price, but the taste! It’s better than a lot ramen I had in Kuala Lumpur, or Penang. I don’t think Penang has good ramen, maybe Kuala Lumpur. Located at Mandarin Gallery, Orchard Road is this Ippudo Ramen restaurant. Upon arriving, I already see a long queue outside the restaurant waiting to be seated.

The queue. So hungry wheyyyyyy.
The interiors, not really a big restaurant. Well, it took us about like 20 minutes to be seated and we ordered right away. Brother did the ordering for me as he went there a few times. The place is not an ideal for chit-chating as it’s quite noisy and has some music playing on which the it’s not those soft and sentimental music.
I am so sorry for forgetting about the food name, but please allow the pictures speak for it. =)

Appetizer: Cucumber!
Appetizer 2: Curry toufu with dry noodle. This one is very yummy, it’s curry powder sauce.
The ramen, special soup, with tamago, cha shu pork, garlic, and lard. The soup is simply awesome but it seems like there’s a lot MSG which makes me thirst after that. Do you like ramen? Come share your favourite place for ramen.

Dinner At Sushi Zanmai, Paradigm Mall
Dinner At Sushi Zanmai, Paradigm Mall – It was 9pm on a Saturday night and the whole Paradigm Mall at Kelana Jaya was so crowded with people! I picked a wrong place for dinner already. I jammed in the car park, then I jammed inside the mall. It’s human everywhere! Every eatery outlet, restaurants, cafe have a queue outside their outlet.
I went to Sushi Zaimai at the top floor and found a long queue outside the Japanese restaurant too! No doubt about the queue because they always have queue outside their outlet all the time, except the one at Sunway Pyramid. It’s 9.30pm and so lucky that Hueisean and I were the last person who get to eat as we were the last order. I wonder why so early as it’s still 9,30pm only, guess they wanted to close shop earlier? Haha.
US! =D Hueisean dear and me.The waitress took our order, queued for another half an hour, then we were sited in a big table. Our orders came fast. It’s a very simple dinner. We ordered a Spicy Ramen, a Chicken Karaage Don and a Dai Dai Roll.
Spicy Ramen (RM10.80) is a soup ramen with vegetable, mushroom and ramen. The soup is salty, a little bit spicy and I’ll say good, but then there’s not much ingredient in this bowl of ramen. There should have char siew or tamago. Hahaha.
Next is the Chicken Karaage Don (RM8.80) which is rice, fried chicken with sweet sauce and onion. The chicken is crispy fried in Japanese style, but I found that this dish is too dry and not nice eating it. I prefer Chicken Katsudon more with a bit gravy and egg.
Last one, a dozen of Dai Dai Roll (RM12.80). The name of this roll is really very funny, Dai Dai, die die? It’s sushi roll with slices of salmon on top, crab meat and avocado. It’s nice, but then the salmon is too thin already, it should have been a thicker cut. But since the price is OK, then it’s OK.
