    SUPERmoon

SUPERmoon – Did you see the moon last night? The pro call it the supermoon, I’ll just call it big-round moon. Surprised that I can hardly feel the moon is bigger, but then with the presence of haze, the moon last night somehow look beautiful, and rounder. OK, OK, maybe it’s because of the supermoon.

If you have missed it, nevermind, I’ve took photograph of it. Check it out.

  • Photograph The Star

    Photograph The Star

Photograph The Star – I was at the temple at Klian Intan and found out that the place was very dark and has a good view of stars in the sky. So I took my camera, mounted on a tripod and set a long exposure and high aperture, trying to capture the star.

Not much of a success, but it seems to be one cool photography that I would like to try. =D Any tips on shooting stars?

    Sunrise: Straits Quay, Penang
Sunrise: Straits Quay, Penang – This is my long waited sunrise post. Was thinking to post it up earlier but have caught up with some school assignments. I actually went for this sunrise photoshoot about a month ago when I was in Penang for a short holiday.

I woke up as early as 6.30am, drove there in 10 minutes and it was just nice as the sky was clear! However, I’ve no idea why it was pretty warm that morning. Usually, morning is cool and fresh, but it’s not on that day.

At there, I’ve seen people jogging at there, doing some morning walk. Seems like there’s people earlier than me. Haha. Straits Quay was so quiet in the morning, not forget to mention – pretty and peaceful! Set up my tripod and then I waited! It feels good in the morning, when the air is fresh and sky is clear. Let’s check out the sunrise now. =)

First Time Visit To Kampar & UTAR – Little Town Of Perak

First Time Visit To Kampar & UTAR - Little Town Of Perak

First Time Visit To Kampar – Little Town Of Perak – I went to Kampar, Perak yesterday! Kampar is a little town in Perak, far away from the big city but famous among Malaysian students as there locates a few higher institution – UTAR & KTAR. I have many friends who are studying at there but I’ve not been there before. I went to there with my girlfriend to check out some hostel room as she’s moving there to study.

First Time Visit To Kampar & UTAR - Little Town Of Perak

It’s about 1 hour 45 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur and the place is kinda rural. The first place I came across is the little town of Tapah before reaching Kampar. Kampar is very peaceful, there’s many hill and lake, and a lot of residential terrace houses which serve as student accommodation.

Nothing much, you can see coffee shops, rows of shoplots, cyber cafes, a tall hotel – Grand Kampar Hotel, Tesco, railway track and that’s all I guess. Haven’t explore much yet. UTAR is cool, the campus itself is big and has a modern squarish design. Unfortunately, the landscape doesn’t seems being maintained well. But afterall, it seems to be a good designed campus, just located at a wrong location. It should be something close to the city in my opinion.

The student accommodation is one special thing. Each row of terrace houses is named according top institution in the world like Harvard, Cambridge, Imperial and so on. And don’t be surprise that there’s 20 student living under one roof. That’s so, dense! And bicycles are everywhere.

Met some high school friends there, tour a bit of the campus and went back home. Will be visiting there again, perhaps explore some cool spot. I have found a nice sunset shooting spot at there, will be back with a tripod and a proper camera! =)

Fun Time At Taylor's University Photo Studio

Fun Time At Taylor’s University Photo Studio – I’ve taken an elective course in school for this semester – Digital Imaging. It’s more about learning some editing via Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. There’s a few elective that we can choose, other than Digital Imaging, there’s Creative Thinking and Visual Culture. Most useful of all, of course is Digital Imaging.

Recent class, I get a chance to use the school’s photo studio, seems very well-equipped with various backdrop and studio lighting, tripod too. Despite having a good studio, my photography skill is not that good. Nevertheless it was a fun time pressing the shutter button in the studio. I have some problem focusing and getting the best lighting setting sometimes. My camera was on Shutter priority mode all the time, is it correct?

Anyway, the photos taken are actually for us to learn how to mask on Photoshop. Quite fun. Took a lot of photos, and check out some shots below.

Night Shots From 1st Avenue Mall, Penang – I was waiting my girlfriend who was buying Tang Yuan on Magazine Road, then I see it’s quite interesting to turn on long shutter and capture some night trail. Although I have did it before, I just couldn’t resist myself from pressing the shutter.

Night Shots From 1st Avenue Mall, Penang

Later then, I asked her to wait for me in the car and I went to the carpark of 1st Avenue Mall to take some shots from above. =D Put my camera on the flat handrail, set on a slow shutter mode and capture.

It would be even better if I’ve got a tripod with me that time, but it was fun.

  • Penang Port At Night

    Penang Port At Night

    Penang Port At Night

Penang Port At Night – Penang Port is located at Butterworth. Read that it’s sold to Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary, the person who owns Johor Port. Kinda sad because to me, I feel the Penang Port should be own by the Penang people or the Penang State Government. I strongly disagree with the privatisation.

    Penang Port At Night

Anyway, forget about sad stuff, I was bored last night, took my camera out and took photos of the Penang port from my balcony via the 55-250mm telephoto lens. The result is, pretty cool, try zoom it, you might see the name on the cargo ship. =D

    (Almost) Sunset: At Malacca Melaka

View from the bridge connecting Pulau Melaka.

(Almost) Sunset: At Malacca – Malacca does have some good places for sunset watching like by the beach of Portugese Settlement, the floating mosque (Masjid Selat Melaka) and on the bridge connecting the man-made island of Pulau Melaka. However, I didn’t get a chance to really experience the sunset as it was still early and we were rushing to queue for the famous Capitol Satay Celup. Anyway, I will plan to go back to check out some nice sunset at this historical city of Malaysia. =)

  • (Almost) Sunset: Shore In Front Of E&O Hotel

(Almost) Sunset: Shore In Front Of E&O Hotel

(Almost) Sunset: Shore In Front Of E&O Hotel – I just found another way that can have a good view of sunset in George Town. It’s introduced by my brother and the location is by the shore in front of E&O (Eastern & Oriental) Hotel or Penang Bowl. Some other popular sunset spot in Penang are Balik Pulau, Batu Ferringhi & Permatang Damar Laut.

Although you can’t really see the sun set into the horizon of the vast sea, but you can frame in a good view of Gurney Drive & Tanjung Tokong with Penang Hill in background.

Penang Port, sad that it’s sold to Tanjung Pelepas Port to serve as feeder port.

    Straits Quay, Tanjung Pinang.

I parked my car at E&O Mult-story Carpark and went to shoot a while at about 7pm. It’s still early so the sun was still up above the sky. However, it’s does indeed looks nice.

Fishing activities going on at there.

Well, Penang looks good, isn’t it?

Singapore City Night View From Marina Bay Sands

Singapore City Night View From Marina Bay Sands & Louis Vuitton Island Maison – I was in Singapore two weeks ago and that time, I’ve my tripod and camera with me! Unfortunately, I’ve forgotten to bring my wide-angle lens. AIYA! Anyway, it’s still good that I can set on slow shutter speed and put it on tripod, and shoot a few cool Singapore night scene.

Singapore City Night View From Marina Bay Sands

I’ve got to say that Singapore’s cityscape is really very awesome, comparable to Hong Kong, Shanghai and other big city already. Malaysia? Sorry, I don’t find a similar good one. The buildings in Malaysia are so spread out far away.

The nicest spot to see Singapore’s city is from Marina Bay Sands, the bay front area near the Louis Vuitton Island Maison. The view is just simply splendid. The photo would be perfect if I’ve bought along my wide angle, but nevermind, Singapore is like just an hour flight away.

The Louis Vuitton Island Maison is very very cool. The whole glass island structure specially dedicated to Louis Vuitton sports a retail showroom and museum gallery of Louis Vuitton products. Man! It’s just so awesome! Feeling jealous of Singapore already.
