Petaling Jaya: SS2 Durian Buffet Is Not Bad At All

Petaling Jaya: SS2 Durian Buffet Is Not Bad At All – Surprisingly, the durian ‘eat-all-you-can’ buffet at SS2, Petaling Jaya is not bad at all. Funny thing is the durian buffet is all year long and has not effect from the the durian season. Anyway, since now is the 2nd durian season of the year and I don’t want to be left out from the durian trend, I went to eat with my friend Arvin and Hock Sheng.

    They have website somemore! www.durianss2.com
Me, Arvin of Indonesia and Hock Sheng.

I only know how to eat but don’t really know how to buy. It’s dad that pick and buy durian all the time back at home and durian cost like RM15/durian. You know, I have once ate 4 durian that costed us RM100 in Balik Pulau, Penang! No idea why. But interestingly at here, it’s RM15/person here and you can eat all you can. You can find a row of similar ‘eat-all-you-can’ durian at SS2, but we went to the corner one as it has the most people. They have different rate, RM9, RM15 and RM25. Well, no idea RM25 is it the best durian, so be safe in the middle.

    Durian, here’s the durian.

Sit down and the person started opening durian and put on the table. We just eat, some was good, some was not, just throw them away. They will open a new one again until we say stop. =D Surprisingly, they are not bad at all, perhaps my tongue is not a golden tongue that can detect awesome durian. But then, still feeling good with the durian taste in my mouth. Not bad, not bad, can try! At least, we can ignore those bad durian without additional charge.

By the way, share with me how to see good durian!

  • Petaling Jaya: Otak-Otak & Nasi Lemak At Mapley 223

Petaling Jaya: Otak-Otak & Nasi Lemak At Mapley 223

Petaling Jaya: Otak-Otak & Nasi Lemak At Mapley 223 – This is a super halal post because Mapley 223 is a halal food court. Oh yeah! This place was introduced by my friend – Hock Sheng from Universiti Malaya and he told me that there’s cheap Malay-style otak-otak and also nasi lemak, so here we go!

Mapley 223 Food Court, 223 is because it’s near to Jalan 223.
Me and Hock Sheng, the friend who introduced me. The friend who sat beside me in class in high school.

Once entering the food court, don’t be shock by the stalls worker touting you asking you to eat their food. Just simply wave your hand, say no and wander to an empty table. Sit down, again, don’t be shock by the stalls worker walking towards you to ask you order their food, nasi lemak, maggi goreng, nasi goreng and more, and also the teh tarik and stuff. Don’t bother them if you know what to eat, or even don’t so that you can take some times looking around what to eat.

Yellow and green, pick the green one.
    Hot and fresh otak-otak.
Bloody red otak-otak, looks weird, but taste OK.

We sat down and then my friend say don’t bother them. Wait for a guy drop a green basket of otak-otak, only start eating it. Just don’t bother about others. They will know how to calculate how much you have it cause they knew how many they put in initially. A very different style of otak-otak, with very sweet taste, a little bit of spices, and somehow less fish meat than those Nyonya’s style. It’s a good snack at RM0.60/otak-otak.

This is the nasi lemak stall that we went for.
And it’s RM2.50 for this plate. The rice is nice.

He also told me that nasi lemak there is also good and cheap. So yeah, the fragrance of the lemak rice is indeed good, and too the spicy hot sambal just compliment the rice well. It’s just RM2.50 for this plate of nasi lemak, you can add more side dish too!

    Well, I have found a new place for snacks/supper! It’s Mapley 223.

  • Good Pork Noodle 猪肉粉 At SS3 Restoran Kean Fatt

Good Pork Noodle 猪肉粉 At SS3 Restoran Kean Fatt

Good Pork Noodle 猪肉粉 At SS3 Restoran Kean Fatt – My friend CC introduced me to this pork noodle stall located at SS3 Taman Bahagia and I went to try it out this afternoon! Located just at the back of the Taman Bahagia LRT Station, it’s not hard to locate this little kopitiam of Restoran Kean Fatt.

It seems promising when arrived as there’s quite many people waiting for it. “Oh, it’s gonna be a long wait like the 45 minutes pork noodle at SS15”, I thought. Made my order, as usual with my favourite koay teow noodle (local call it hor fun) and I sat down, chat with Hock Sheng who was the company of the day and wait.

10 minutes passed, 15 minutes then, it’s arrived! It looks good with plenty of pork lards (very unhealthy) and a bowl-ful of ingredient. Saliva drops for just looking at it. RM5.80. Soup is rather salty, but it’s still good! Awesome pork made me un-describable. I finished the soup by the way.

Well, it’s better to wait at here than the 45 minutes at SS15. Haha.

  • 糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

糖百府港式甜品 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts – Went to Paradigm Mall today after class as I have a long break in between the next class and tried the Hong Kong desserts shop – Tong Pak Fu. This one is the real desserts franchise from Hong Kong, not to be confuse with the Penang-made Snowman Tang Bo Fu.

糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

There’s various outlet of Tong Pak Fu in Malaysia, you can find it in Suria KLCC, Empire Shopping Gallery, Paradigm Mall and soon opening in Penang too! Tong Pak Fu serves a variety of Hong Kong desserts like Mango desserts, sesame paste, walnut paste, beverages and more icy desserts. There’s curry fish ball too!

糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

We were really too free and spent about an hour plus at there. Taylor’s U is kinda stupid lately because they arranged my timetable in a poor manner. We have an hour class in the morning and in between we have about 6 hours break. What to do? Eat Tong Pak Fu. Check out the desserts that we have ordered.

糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

Mango Fluffy Ice Series. RM8.80 for regular, the ice is very nice, love the pop eggs too, but not the tasteless Nata de Coco. It would be better with real mango cube. But overall, acceptable. =D

糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

Horlicks Fluffy Ice Series. RM11.80 for Large. Pretty nice with grass jelly topping and the taste of horlicks in the ice is very strong. Good for horlicks fans.

糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

Red Bean Paste. RM4.80. According to my friend Jia Hui, she said this is not good. The taste is weird and too saturated.

糖百府 Tong Pak Fu Hong Kong Desserts

Sesame Ball. RM5.80. Basically, this is plain glutinous rice ball tang yuan with sesame topping. It would be awesome if there’s filling inside.

Well, I have got to say they are so-so only, the pictures in the menu do indeed look awesome, but taste wise is just normal. I would prefer Hui Lau Shan for mango and KTZ for sesame paste. =D However, the fluffy ice is very cool here.

  • Buffet Breakfast at PJ Hilton Hotel

Buffet Breakfast at PJ Hilton Hotel

I love buffet breakfast provided by hotel most of the time especially at a hotel with good reputation and stars like the Hilton Hotel at Petaling Jaya. A couple weeks ago, I was staying there for a night with my parents and we were given free buffet breakfast. Since it’s free, for sure I would wake up early to check it out. I heard that these buffet breakfast can cost up to RM50.

With a variety of International cuisine ranging from Chinese, Western, Indian to local Malaysian food. They are good, but, I felt they were not the best hotel breakfast to me. I still like the one at Sensa Hotel, Bandung, Indonesia which have a better dining experience and food.

Do you bother about the hotel breakfast or just oversleep for you trip? =)
