London: Sunday Brunch At Duck & Waffle, Heron Tower

London // Sunday Brunch At Duck & Waffle, Heron Tower – It’s just amazing having a good brunch at 40th floor, overlooking the city of London. That was one of my Sunday, two months ago. I thought a trip to London would be a budget one, but I ended visiting some quality restaurant at one of the tallest building in London, the Heron Tower. It’s on the 40th floor and remember don’t go to other floor as you will ended heading back down and up again like what we did. Funny! The concierge down there must be laughing at us, heading up and down.
Doesn’t looks like a grand entrance to Duck & Waffle.
Duck & Waffle, the name of the restaurant has already describes their specialty – the combination of duck, and waffle. Of course they do serves other food, but their food is pretty creative too!
    The bar area.
    Interesting bar counter.
Back to the restaurant experience, located on the 40th floor of Heron, you can get a very good view of London. The toilet greets you first, then only you will see a bar. Weird location of toilet which made us thought we were on the wrong floor. The bar has a very interesting concept design with typography and bottles hanging at the ceiling. Heading into the restaurant area will give you an amazing view of London. Unfortunately we were seated on the west side, the best view would be the east and it was not a clear sunny day for a good view. Another interesting thing about Duck & Waffle is that it operates 24/7, so you can head over here early for sunrise breakfast!

Food will be the main attraction of the restaurant of course. Price starting at about £10 and being cheapskate Malaysians, we ordered a few dishes and shared among 4 of us! To be honest, the portions were really small and the stomach was hardly full after the brunch. I guess it’s just a food tasting session for that morning. 5 food, and it costs each of us about £16. Yes, it’s rather expensive, but the taste was quite nice. =)
Here comes the Duck & Waffle. A crispy duck drumstick, a fried duck sunny egg, a waffle and mustard maple syrup. Very weird combination, and trust me, it’s good. £17.
Bacon Wrapped Dates. The blend of sweet and salty. Another fun combination. £9.
Spicy Ox Cheek Doughnut, with apricot jam. The least interesting one, to me. £10
Wild Cornish Pollock Meatballs. I like this one, but there’s just 3 small little meatballs, which I find it not enough for four of us. HAHA. £11.
BBQ-Spiced Crispy Pig Ears. I’ve to tell you this is highly addictive and you can hardly stop eating this! £5.

There’s the LOVE Sculpture located right across of Heron Tower.

Nice Brunch @ The Red Beanbag, Publika

Nice Breakfast @ The Red Beanbag, Publika – Publika! One of my favourite place in the city. It was one fine Sunday morning, almost noon that my family were in town and wanted to eat some cool and nice brunch as it’s pretty late. Then I thought of taking them to check out Publika, at the same time brunch at The Red Beanbag Restaurant as I’ve read that they serve breakfast set.

It was pretty crowded that Sunday morning as we waited about 15 minutes for a table. After being seated, it’s time to order and eat! I ordered myself a Big Breakfast Set (RM20) which comes with a little portion of baked bean, bacon, beef sausage, bread, hash brown and two cute poached egg. Yummy! Everything was fine, just the portion is small to me. Perhaps it’s breakfast set?
Mom and brother ordered the Egg Atlantic (RM17.90) which is a small French toast, topped with smoked salmon, snappy asparagus, mushrooms and pached eggs with a smooth hollandaise sauce. I tried it and I think I favor this more than my order.
Dad want something that has a bigger portion, something that can filled his stomach well and he has got a Fowl Luck (RM25) which is roasted chicken thigh with herbed potatoes, mushrooms, olives & mushroom gravy. Dad is more of a oriental food eater, so this kind of dish was a bit too light for him.
Afterall, it was a good brunch session and will come back another time in the future. =)

China Trip – Shanghai: Brunch Food & East Nanjing Road During Daylight (Day 4) – Back to Shanghai trip, it’s morning in Shanghai and it’s time to be serious in touring around Shanghai. Brother and I woke up quite late that day. Actually we don’t really have a proper itinerary, we just see which attraction is nearby and we start from them.

We went to brunch while walking to East Nanjing Road. We have to go to East Nanjing Road because the nearest Metro station is located at there. We randomly went into a restaurant and ate Shanghai Xiao Long Bao again, not so awesome, then we walked along East Nanjing Road.

It’s noon time already, we came across a City Sightseeing Bus parked by the roadside, a lady was offering ticket for it. Since it’s 30RMB/ticket valid for one day, we bought it, never know that the frequency of the bus was so slow. Haha, anyway, we have bought the ticket, we have to follow the bus schedule. So, part of my day 4 in Shanghai is on the sightseeing bus which I will share with you guys in the next post. =)

The bus actually parked there just to attract tourist. We boarded the sightseeing bus but it did not move right away, we waited like 15 minutes only then another bus came, we have to moved to another bus.
