Singapore: Sentosa Beach, Malaysian Food Street & Crane Dance @ Universal Studios Singapore – Woottt, I went to Sentosa Island in Singapore last week. Brother and I actually have no where to go, shopping was boring, nothing to buy and expensive, so we just went to walk around in Sentosa Island, taste the Malaysian Street Food and also check out the Crane Dance at night.

Since it’s still early, the Crane Dance is at 9pm, we headed to the beach of Sentosa via the monorail. I have never been to the Sentosa Beach before and after visiting it, I have got to say, it’s not a good beach, Batu Feringghi is so much better because of great & relaxing view. From the Sentosa Beach, looking out you will see huge ships park in the middle of the sea and at far, you will see many refineries. The view is just not pretty for relax despite how clean the beach is and the tiny soft sand. I like the sand though, wonder where do they come from.

After beach exploration, my stomach started to growl and we headed to the Malaysian Food Street located right beside the entrance of Universal Studios Singapore. Funny right? Malaysian, eating out Malaysian Food in Singapore. Haha. Actually Malaysian Street Food is like a food court which all the Malaysian Food are really brought from Malaysia, Resorts World Sentosa brought in the group of Malaysian street food owners to cook and sell their food at there. Some of the taste are pretty authentic like the Hokkien Prawn Mee.

I’ve tried Penang Chendol and it’s not really good, but Ampang Yong Toufu was good too. Price starts from S$5. If you are Malaysian and is craving for Penang food, I think this is a good place, just that you have to pay extra S$3 for monorail entering the island. Haha.

    Crane Dance

At 9pm, we went to see the Crane Dance, which is a new attractions in Universal Studios Singapore. It’s actually two very huge cranes dancing. The cranes actually represent to birds and water sprayed out from both side of the crane are the wings of the big birds. There’s music and visual accompany with the dance and the show is about 10 minutes. Pretty cool, you can see the real cargo cranes at the port of Singapore from there.

That’s it for my Singapore short trip. =D

Singapore: New iPad, A&C, Marutama Ra-Men – Hello friends, I am back again! Went for a break lately as I was busy settling stuff to go back to Kuala Lumpur and I went to Singapore last weekend! I went there to collect my new Apple iPad, and also to visit my brother, walk walk & eat eat.

Now I go to Singapore almost every year, or once a few months, I don’t really know what’s nice to do at there. Mostly, just walkaround the same spot e.g. Orchard Road, Vivo City, and eat.

Singapore: New iPad, A&C, Marutama Ra-Men

I took the bus Aeroline from Sunway and I arrived in Singapore in the afternoon. Headed to my brother place right away in NUS and then I started molesting the new iPad. It, just feel so right and good, and sexy, but not really lighter than the old iPad a lot. Didn’t really get to play much about it as it was getting late.

There was a Dance Central Kinect competition going.

We went to Orchard Road for a while to check out some sleeve for the iPad. Brother brought me to Abercrombie & Fitch shop at Orchard Road, it’s so damn cool in it, the interior is very dark, products are shine by spotlight and music is as loud as in the club, you get a free Instax photo with the man model at there too.

    Marutama Ra-Men, Clarke Quay

Then we headed to Clarke Quay for dinner at a ramen restaurant – Marutama Ra-Men. It’s located in Central Shopping Mall. Brother told me they serve awesome authentic ramen.

You can find char siu and plenty of seaweed in it. Best part is the additional Ajitsuke Tamago which is half boiled seasoned egg, the yolk is just half boiled and the white is a full boiled. Yums.

It’s another attraction that is located in the travel guide. To be exact, Yu Yuan is actually part of Shanghai Old Street.

At there you will find lots of retail outlet, as well as building built during the Qing Dynasty, and also street food! There’s a street at Shanghai Laojie which sells various type of Shanghai Street Food like stinly toufu, fried chicken finger, fruits, crab, chicken, noodle, BBQ and more!

The food does in fact look good, but then hygiene wise, not really good. Though, brother and I did try out some food at there. We prefer eating out at a restaurant.

After eating, we walked to the Yu Yuan Shanghai Metro station, and headed to Pudong area next.

Nice Hokkien Prawn Mee At Tanjung Bungah Market Food Court – I love Hokkien Prawn Mee, it’s one of the must-eat food in Penang, the prawn taste food is so yummylicious. You can eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea time or supper.

Nice Hokkien Prawn Mee At Tanjung Bungah Market Food Court
Recently, I found a nice Hokkien Prawn Mee (introduced by Hueisean =D) at the Tanjung Bungah Market Food Court. It’s only RM3.00 per bowl Hokkien Prawn Mee and you will get a lot of ingredient like shrimps, meat, and egg. You can add another 30 cents for an extra egg. What’s so best about this Hokkien Prawn Mee is the soup, filled with strong prawn taste, sweet, and spicy, it’s good.

The Yu Yuan is one of the must-visit attractions in Shanghai as it is considered as one of the most lavish and finest Chinese garden. You can head over there by Shanghai Metro Line 10’s Yuyuan Garden Station.

It’s a very commercialised tourist spot now with many retail outlet selling clothing, gifts, food and more. Yuyuan was first established in 1559 as a private garden and now is a famous tourist destination. You can find the famous and some said it’s the best Xiao Long Bao at there – Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao.

Goddess Of Mercy – Guan Yin’s Birthday 观音誕 (Guan Yin Dan) – Taoist and devotees celebrates the birthday of Goddess of Mercy (also known as Guan Yin Dan) on 19th February, 19th Jun and 19th September each year on the lunar calendar.

Goddess Of Mercy - Guan Yin's Birthday 观音誕 (Guan Yin Dan)
    It’s a very hot Sunday!

Today is the 19th February in the lunar calendar and it’s a very happenings day at the Goddess of Mercy Temple (Kuan Yin Teng) on Pitt Street. I went there with grandma to pray, I also brought along my camera to take photos of the celebration. It’s really very crowded and hot because of the burning of joss stick. It’s overly crowded in the temple hall, moreover some part of the temple is closed for renovation.

It’s very uncomfortable to move around due to the heat and amount of people, but then I managed to ooze myself into the crowd to pray and take photos.

China Trip – Shanghai: On The City Sightseeing Bus #1 上海都市观光车 (Day 4) – It’s time to hop on the 30RMB City Sightseeing bus to go a little tour around Shanghai. Well, if you were to tour on the City Sightseeing bus, be sure to wake up early, sit on the bus to tour the whole city first before getting off at any stop.

We thought of using the City Sightseeing bus as our mode of transport around attractions but it’s not really useful as the frequency of the bus is very long. Just take the bus around, listen to the introduction, then forget about the bus anymore. Walk on foot or Metro to attractions as Shanghai is designed for walking.

We started off at East Nanjing Road, passed by Waibaidu Bridge, The Bund, and we alighted at Yu Yuan Garden, guess what, that’s end of our trip on the City Sightseeing Bus because we wanted to get back on to go to another location, but then it’s over the operation hour and we have to get back onto the bus the next day.

The bus ticket, notice the edge being cut, it’s a mark that you have got on board.
