Before the run, I have been thinking, this is my last year being in this school’s annual cross country run event, should I do a serious run this time? or should I do a serious walk with camera on the hand, taking good shots? In the end, I picked the second choice.
Form 1 and form 2 were the years that I was serious in this run, and from then on, I prefer staying at the back of the line, walking instead of running with friends and take some shots once in a while. Form 3 and 4 didn’t really take good shots at this run, so I tried harder this year, but turned out, not very good shots too, but I got many shots this year.
It’s on a Friday so which means it’s counted as a normal school day attendance. I woke up a little bit later than my usual school day because the venue of the cross country run, Youth Park is just a 5 minutes drive from my house. It’s a big jam around that area because imagine 2000 students in the park and there would be like hundreds and hundreds of cars, moreover, there’s a high school and a primary school nearby too. Mom dropped me off somewhere outside the park and I walked in.
Many of the students were already there early and I was not late because the race hadn’t flagged off when I was there. Everyone needed to take 2 times attendance from the teacher only consider a full 30 marks for Physical Education and also attendance for school, one before run, one after run.
The run was divided into 3 categories, Form 1 and 2, Form 3 and 4 and Form 5 and 6. I am in the last category this year.
It’s a gang of friends at the back of the lines who were also not serious runner. For your little information, the first 200 arrivals at the finishing line gets to go to the hiking competition which will be happening the week after the school holiday. I am not in the number, if I am free on that day, I’ll go join the fun.

The running route is from Youth park out to Jalan Kebun Bunga then to Botanical Garden, do a big round U turn out of Botanical Garden, run along Jalan Kebun Bunga then to Jalan Utama until a junction, turned into Jesselton residential area, from there a big round out and back to Youth Park again. The whole route is around 6km.
Took us around 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive back to the starting point. It seems like we were faster than last year a little bit.
After marking the last attendance from the teacher, I stayed for a while at there before going back. It’s just medal giving ceremony that happened on the stage which I did not wait for it to go on. There’s lucky draw for last year but nothing this year. So we went back early for breakfast.

We went on a foot walk to the coffee shop for breakfast after the run. I then saw a lot of people went to Gurney Plaza but I didn’t, I went for a movie at Prangin Mall instead. I wanted to go for a sing but I found no one to go with and in the end, I went to the cinema.
This was the last time participating in this school’s annual event, I am so gonna miss it. Graduating high school in 8 months time, oh my god, the clock is ticking.
