So we have been to the Maya Bay, Monkey Bay and went snorkelling, now we are now going to the real Phi Phi island with human inhabitants. According to the dictionary, Ko means island in Thai, Phi Phi Don is the name for the island I guess and this is the place where there’s shops, a pier and hotels.
During my Phuket trip, I went to this Phi Phi Islands tour and one of the stop was the Ko Phi Phi Don and this was where we had our lunch break. The lunch provided was included in our one day trip.
The place is kinda small with a narrow street connecting to a few hotels and shops are just along the street. There’s no car at there, it’s all on walking as it’s so small. I still can’t imagine what it was when the tsunami strikes 4 years back, it sure must be a nightmare.
Lunch we had were typical Asian Thai food and there’s spaghetti and salad for the caucasian friends.
After lunch, we had like about 30 minutes to roam around the place. It’s really very small and the time we had was short, so we didn’t go anywhere far, we were just walking on the street that connects directly to the pier in case we don’t get lost there. The place is pretty quiet when compare to the beaches at Phuket, mostly because this is just a island.
There’s shops selling shirt, Thai souvenirs, tour service, diving, snorkelling service and stuff like that. I saw this cliff jumping thing and got excited, I wonder when only I get to try it. It must be thrill, scary, exciting, cool, refreshing and screams.
Since hotels are not built right in front of the pier, it’s very common to see Thai boy pulling the cart filled with luggage bags and shouting to give away.
I saw a lot of tourist coming in from the pier and look at the hotel board to see the photos and room rate of hotel. The place is like a starting point or transit point for them before going to another place because there’s tour service to almost everywhere in Thailand. Pretty cool.
We got back to our speedboat and off to another island and it’s the last stop for our one day Phi Phi Islands trip. =)
Next stop: Relax on Khai Island
