For so many years being a Chung Ling student, this was my first time attending the Sports Day. Past 3 years, on the same day, I tend to stayed at home to sleep. Actually, I went to the sports day last year but it was not our school sports day, it’s actually a joint sports day with the other to Chung Ling High School, the Butterworth’s and the Private’s.
I loves photography, thus that’s the main reason I went to sports day. Hell not taking part in any event because I am a lazy person as you know. Hehe, not a sportsman or whatsoever. Also a sleeping member in the School Teenager’s Cadet (Kadet Remaja Sekolah), so I need not to be present on the field to march.
It was likely a schooling day for me, but I woke up a bit later than normal days. Since it was a sports day, I don’t need to rush for it. Just relax will do, but of course when I arrived in school, everyone was there. I was late but it haven’t started yet.
First to meet was Chien Ming who keep wanting me to introduce his blog here. So here you go, I made you a favour. Haha. I got no idea what he was taking part in, my job is just to shoot and talk. Faking myself as a member of the school’s photography club, people really thought I am from the school’s photography club. Great.
Students who were not taking part in any events, marching squad or service group needed to be under the shade as viewers or supporter. Yes I am, but a camera in hand, I get to walk around, even into the middle of the field or in front of my principal.
I had not been in any marching squad before. It seems fun but it’s too late for me to be in it and it’s not really my interest.
The best marching squad was not Scout, not St John Ambulance, not not not but the Police Cadet which was last years National Marching Squad Champion. I don’t have a decent shot of them so I can’t post it up. Their hands and legs were so uniform when moving. The worst squad were Monitor’s Board and all those different coloured houses. Haha.
It’s sports day, nothing much to expect, but with a little bit of performance from the band and the 3 self-defence club. Haha, the Shao Lin, Karate and Taekwando. Was Judo there? I’ve forgotten. That’s all, a little bit drum percussion and some fancy stuns.
Like banging the head on the stone pieces, punching the wooden board, kicking it and dancing with some martial art moves. The dancing part was not so interesting but those banging, kicking and punching were nice.
I wonder, it need strength, skill or (tai) chi to do those stunt? If strenght, I also can kick the wooden pieces. Haha, but for banging, I am sure I don’t have a hard head, maybe I do, but I dare not take the risk. Hehe.
So many years of being in school and yes, once took part in a sport event before. It was during my primary school time, I took part in a 2km race walking and no I did not win any medal home. Haha.
It’s all those field event, running, long jump, high jump, spear throwing etc etc. Now, why doesn’t school includes football, badminton, basketball, handball into it? Aren’t those consider sports too? I think there’s no people dare to make a change to the school history yet, is it because for such a long time, 80 years of Chung Ling, still having the same sports event every year?
It’s not so happening. Didn’t really people cheering for people. Teachers were there to record how far you go and what you get, 1st, 2nd or 3rd then later receive your medals.
Hot day, 4 person have passed out on the field. I haven’t been in the sun for long before, so I don’t know how dizzy will it be. I see people who was standing under the scorching heat of the sun, singing National Anthem then suddenly, who person collapsed. One by one. Seriously, I can feel the hotness. My shirt was wet before the sports event starts. I was like went under a shower. I still remember it was 40 degree celcius according to the thermometer in the bus.
The most crowded and happening place was the store set up by the school’s co-op. Selling ice cream, drinks and candies. Hot day, who wouldn’t want to eat an ice cream? I treated myself an ice cream and also some yogurt juice.
I got to say that my shots were not satisfying to me. Although I took over 700 pictures, I only found some nice one. My photography feel was not there. Sigh. Need to shoot more and improve on my skill already. =)
