Guangzhou is actually not a very famous tourism spot in China, it’s more likely to be visited by businessman as there locates lots of factories. However if you do choose Guangzhou as a travel destination, I got a must visit shopping spot for you.
It’s the Beijing Lu Bu Xin Jie 北京路步行街 which literally translated as Bejing Road Pedestrian Street where it’s a shopping district with lots of shops and no vehicles are allow to drive through that road (Beijing Lu).
We went to Beijing Lu by foot from Nong Jiang Suo Guangzhou Metro Station and there’s actually a nearer station to Beijing Lu but because we went to somewhere else before that so we got off at Nong Jiang Suo. For you information, Beijing Lu Guangzhou Metro Station is Gongyuanqian.
Beijing Lu is famous shopping both to the locals and tourists, it feels more “local” when comparing to Shang Xia Jiu Bu Xin Jie.
We were there at 6pm and it already feels like 8pm in Malaysia. The sun set very early in the afternoon and the weather for the night cold at around 12 degree celcius. It’s just mom that did the shopping and dad, brother and I just followed along and give some comment on mom’s buying.
One interesting thing you can see at Beijing Lu is the remains of the roads that were built hundred years ago during different dynasty. They dig one part of the Beijing Lu and showed the ancient road in a big glass cover to show what’s it’s like many many years ago. This seems cool.
There’s so many shops at there and many people were walking here and there. I very like this kind of atmosphere where there’s a lot of people on the road like in Hong Kong. You can’t see such a scene in Penang because walking on the street under the hot sun is, hot. Perhaps Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur can be related to place like this.
Mom bought a few jacket but we didn’t because clothing apparels at there were not suitable to us because it was Winter and everything was thick. It’s useless in Malaysia.
One cool thing is that they set up lottery stall in the middle of the road and people love to go by and buy the lottery hoping for a strike.
We just walked along the road and didn’t really go into the shops. We were really tired and was in search for restaurant for our dinner. I did not lie down on the ground for a rest but was just doing something stupid there (to take photo).
This place is cool, I like this place. It’s all lights up at night.
