Orientation Day and First Day in Taylor’s University College, Lakeside Campus
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 11, 2010 – 1:45 am -Oh my god. I have been away for so long. Don’t know why lately have been so lazy on the blogging job. Always slacking in my comfy hostel room or just hang out around the university. Life here is kinda fun, but I do miss home occasionally.
I haven’t been online like I do so consistence at home last time because Internet at my hostel is still not ready yet, I am on the DiGi 3G Broadband and it always DC and another thing is I can’t online 24/7 because of the capped and saving electricity bill. Somemore, I have homework and assignment already, don’t have many time to spend in front of the computer like before during the holidays. >.< Now I know why my friend seldom online when they went to college. Haha.
Taylor’s University College had an orientation for Julu 2010 intake students 2 weeks ago. It’s for everyone that’s studying in Lakeside Campus and basically there’s many courses available at the Lakeside Campus except Pre-U studies. The reason I pick this university is because it’s new and beautiful. =D I like studying in a place that look like a school than an office building.
It’s not really start of school yet but it’s an orientation to let you know what’s around the school and I was pretty excited for it because get to meet new people and back to school after the long 7 months holiday of mine. A little bit nervous also, because I knew no one at there. I have no friend of my age from Penang with me at there. Though I did meet people afterall.
Thanks to Leo Club, I knew Victor, a senior of mine in Leo Club and also during my high school. He also July intake student but on a different course. Then I knew who to mix with on first day. Oh yeah, luckily I was not alone. Rocks.
There’s like thousands of student. Business course have the longest queue which I think they have many students as for me in The Design School, there’s not super many but at least there still around 30 students in my course. At least it’s not less than 10. Haha.
It’s the boring talk about what the school have, what are the dos and don’ts, welcoming speech and blablabla. Didn’t really enjoy it as I was like keeping my hands busy on the phone. One thing, the hall was so damn cold and we spent like 3 hours in the hall. Hungry in the morning!
After the hall thing, we have our little own orientation. The Design School is under the Division of Engineering, Architecture, Building and Design. =D
It’s the same thing again, but not so boring talk by the Dean. At this place, I have to separate with Victor them already and at here I was by my own. Know nobody. But still, it’s fun.
After all the talk have done, it’s the admin work already. I have to go to collect stuff like t-shirt and take photos for student ID. The queue for this stuff was like so long and we have to wait for like an hour to get me in front of the line.

Back To Chung Ling High School on 020710
Written by Nicholas Chan on July 6, 2010 – 1:27 am -I went back to my high school last Friday for lunch. Some people thought that it’s kinda weird going back to high school to have meal at there. Tell you what, I miss my high school’s canteen food a lot and ex-Chung Ling students often go back to the canteen for meal too. Same as my dad who have graduated for over 30 years and he still sometimes go back for lunch.

One is because it’s cheap, two is parking and three is delicious. When I was in high school, the delicious feeling couldn’t be tasted because we were like eating the same thing every day but when we get out, it’s like we couldn’t eat the same thing everyday again and sometimes, crave for it.

Went there with Chien Chern. After lunch, we walked around the school. This might not be my last time going back to school, but it might be my last time walking around the school. 2 weeks plus and I will be leaving Penang. I course will come back to look for my high school’s canteen food, but don’t know when will be the next time. I will be far away!
Saw many friends but hard to join in because they are mixing with a new gang right now, new class and new year for them. I am still waiting for college.

2009, by me. =D
Then I found my Leo Club’s notice board, it’s so much different from what I did for the board right now. I did contribute to the notice board when I was in the club last year. =D
Looking at them working out in school, I kinda miss the days back, but I know nothing can turn the clock backwards. I have to move on already. If you are still in high school, do enjoy it to the max, it’s the best part of life. Always have no worries one. I regret why I only enjoyed the last two years and the other 3 years, maybe I was still too naive. Haha.
Walking around the school was actually not because wanted to walk for fun, it’s too full after the lunch and was trying to digest the food, at the same time, checking out old stuff like classes I studied in.
When I was in afternoon class that time, during form 1 and form 2, not many great memories though, was still like a kid. But one thing I know, I was a blogger since end of Form 1 and started experiment with photography in Form 2. =D
Class changed a lot. It was a place I crazied, slept, shouted, screamed in and it’s now my place. If you ask me to be back student for a day, I can’t, because the feeling has gone and it’s a past. No more turning back. Everyone is gone! Look at the table arrangement, it’s all different already.
Form 4 and Form 5 were the best year in high school. I am not a bad kid but I have kena disciplined action before because of always bringing stuffs like camera and cellphone and going out of the class. Haha. Don’t think I am bad, I am just playful, I assumed. If I didn’t bring camera, you wouldn’t see so many school life post at here already.
Why the school here don’t allow cellphone and camera? I strongly disagree with these. I need to blog my life and share! It’s memories. Cellphone is for contacting and don’t talk about public pay phone, they sucks and it’s only usable after school. What if you want to contact your parents to fetch you when you found out the meeting has canceled or on the other way around? But nevermind, I brought it like almost every day last time, just I didn’t use in class, I am sure.
High school rocks, especially Chung Ling High School.

Lomo on SPM
Written by Nicholas Chan on May 20, 2010 – 12:00 am -Don’t play play. I brought my DSLR everyday during my SPM examination in 2009. But on the last day, I brought my Holga and Diana F+ lomography toy camera with me. I’ve decided and tried to shoot everything left in the roll and here are 3 that I’ve got.

Jing Min jump shot, Taken with Diana F+. Pretty cool right?

Arron with his Hyundai Sonata, fetching his friends back home. Taken with Holga.

Hock Sheng and Jerry after exam. You know what, the photo people didn’t scan this shot, I had to scan it myself, so the color is not so sharp. Self-scan also not bad right?

Away to PLKN (Day 50): Lomo on Chung Ling Sports Day I
Written by Nicholas Chan on May 16, 2010 – 2:30 am -Last year’s Chung Ling High School Sports Day, I brought my Holga with me to school. Put in a roll of 120mm film and I shoot on the nice sunny day. It’s always the best to shoot on a nice sunny day, I like it.
People might thought I am weird a bit last time because hanging to camera, and one feel so toy-ish. But now, lomo toy camera is getting more and more camera. Do you know what’s a lomo camera?

Karate! You see the lights? It’s called light leak.

Mr Mohd Hafiz! My biology teacher in Form 5. Very good person. He was a flag man on the last year’s sports day.

Me, Min Xiang and Yong Seng.
I miss Chung Ling High School, but not really the sports day. Sports Day is always boring to me. Haha.

Away to PLKN (Day 27): I Am Going To Taylor’s University College
Written by Nicholas Chan on April 23, 2010 – 2:35 am -I’ve no idea how to tell you how’s my life in NS, still good I assume. ^^
In this coming July 2010, I will be going to Kuala Lumpur, the capital to pursue my study. Oh yeah, it’s something sad and exciting, going away from home to go study. For sure, I will homesick, and also friend-sick. LOL. I will miss everything back home, my comfy bed, my lovely big screen TV, my big room, my daddy, my mommy and everything at home. I will also miss all my friends and the magnificent six (include me), Arron, Chien Chern, Yiphing, Chaiwei and Chen Yuen, and also not in the magnificent Alvin, Ammerlynn, Zez Chien, and also many more. Haha.
Shit, I am talking like I am going to leave soon. Actually not, I will be still in Penang for like 3 months because my school only starts on the 26 of July 2010.
I’ll be studying Interior Design course at Taylor’s University College, hopefully I will meet you KL people at there. Hehe.

The Taylor’s Residence a.k.a. Hostel, was still in the middle of construction, hopefully it’s done when I arrive in campus.
So why Taylor’s and not Penang? I want to go explore out-of-Penang, I want a campus life, I want to meet new people, I want to learn more, I like the school, it’s new and so on so on.

Nice lecture theater facing the lake.

Food court.
We’ve visited the school 2 months ago and it’s really pretty. There’s a lake in the middle of the campus, everything is new, the classroom, the chairs, the tables and me. It’s newly built and open in January lately only. So it’s cool.
Penang has no pretty school, interior design at Penang’s The One Academy is new, Equator Academy is ugly, I must move on. =) I’ll talk more about it when I get into the college in July, oh yeah! Gonna enjoy most of my time with my family and friends here to the fullest first, and also NS.
