Red Box Karaoke Right After Last Paper of SPM 2009
Written by Nicholas Chan on January 4, 2010 – 11:12 pm -Yes yes, it’s again, we went to Red Box karaoke after the last paper of SPM examination of 2009. That’s what I usually do after finishing a school examination. This is a very standard stuff and why Red Box? Because in Penang, there’s only Red Box karaoke and I just get to know that Neway Karaoke will be opening soon at Queensbay Mall soon.
Jing Min playing with the Red Box people.
Our Chinese paper finished at 12.45pm that day, I went home to bath and got ready, then to Red Box with everyone. We were not the first SPM finisher, because fifth former who didn’t take Chinese paper had finished their SPM earlier.
Chai Wei, Vivian, Shan and Sheue Yen.
We have got the biggest room in Red Box which can have up to 20-25 people in the room and we have only got like 13 people.
Lek Jian, Me, Theresa, Hui Mei, Liang Sun.
It’s not only us that went to Red Box, many people went there too on that day and I believe most of them are same like me, just finished their SPM, taking a break.
Priscilla.
It’s not too many people in the room, it’s too many people came to Red Box on that day, people came in and our, “hi and bye”, very hard to communicate and interact with everyone.
Lek Jian, Valen, Jia Wei, Yi Jun and me.
Most important are still did I sing or not? Yes I did and enjoyed the singing, a lot. The Penang’s Plurkers had a room there too, I went there to say hi, sang a few songs and went back to my place. Hard to be at multiplace. I wish I can divide my body. Haha.
Simon, Arron with the his crazy pose and Edmund.
Zez and Vivian.
Shan Shan.
Chai Wei and Ammerlynn.
Janice.
Wei Chung and Sheue Yen.
Karaoke finished, I went home. Marked the end of SPM, the end of Form 5 life. That’s fast.

Christmas Eve Morning at Mall and Afternoon at Red Box
Written by Nicholas Chan on December 27, 2009 – 11:18 pm -Let’s talk about Christmas’ Eve. This year’s Christmas Eve was a little bit tired for me because I woke up early in the morning and out until midnight. In Malaysia, or my place, Penang, Christmas’ Eve is more happenings than Christmas Day. People here like countdown and they have all their Christmas party on the Christmas’ Eve.
Yiphing and Arron.
I woke up early morning that day to join my friends for a dim sum breakfast in town. Later then went to Prangin Mall with Arron, Zhen Yuan, Zez and Yiphing to buy Christmas present.
Zhen Yuan, Arron.
Prangin Mall was pretty quiet in the morning, close to noon. I bought some books and DVD at there then just walk around with them. I didn’t want to go home and just sit in front of the computer.
Boon Hooi.
While walking around the mall, we met our very cool friend, Boon Hooi who is now working at SUB boutique. He’s getting so much cooler now with a coloured hair and working at a cool fashion shop. We teased him then we went home.
Acting cute.
Arron and Zez Chien came to my place to take a shower before going to the next place which was karaoke at Red Box. It seems like every year’s Christmas’ Eve, I was at Karaoke, last year was, the year before was too and this year.
Ming Li, Yiwen, Caster, Him Keat, Min Xiang, Zhang Ying.
Zhang Ying and Boon Yan.
Zez Chien.
Only that this time Red Box was with different gang.

Hari Raya’s holiday is now on
Written by Nicholas Chan on September 22, 2009 – 12:05 am -I knew Raya was coming, I knew last Friday was a very last minute announced special public school holiday, I knew the Muslim friends were and are having fun, I knew this week is a school holiday for me, I knew it will be a traffic jam everywhere in Penang and highway, but I didn’t know about the exact date of the Hari Raya until I see everyone wishing “Happy Hari Raya” on Twitter and Plurk, I suck a bit, but now I know so I wish you all have a nice Hari Raya Aidilfitri. =)
So Raya was Sunday and Monday. The holiday started on Friday and I have been on holiday mood since then after a 9 days long trial exam. I need a break but I don’t know what am I doing, I don’t have a plan for this holiday and it’s so unorganized, it’s like there’s so many thing want to do but I don’t know where to start. That’s bad.
Arron.
The holiday mood started on last Thursday right after school. I didn’t go home right away to sleep or anything but instead went to the cinema to watch Gamer with Arron. The movie was pretty cool, you will like it and understand it if you do or did play game. I did play games last time but not now.
Simon, Arron, Edmond, Fangs.
Andy, Min Sheng.
I then went to karaoke at Red Box on Friday, it’s a usual routine for me and them since last year where we will (mostly) go to karaoke to sing our crazyness out after the exam, before the holiday week. It’s a standard thing for us. It’s kinda tiring singing there, I still hardly improve my singing.
Then I went for movie again and it’s the Singapore’s film, Where Got Ghost. I gave it a rating of 4.5/10 because I don’t think it’s good enough, felt like nothing’s new from Jack Neo.
Saturday was pretty quiet to me. Woke up in a dull, cloudy morning and the Sun was hiding somewhere, which made me felt so lazy to go places. I went to town for lunch with mom and I came home, staying indoor for whole afternoon.
I then spent time at home reorganized my stuff and clear all the papers and notes lying around since before trial exam. I don’t like the room to look like a mess, I like to have a clean and nice workstation. =) Took me few hours for this and hopefully this will be clean for at least a few weeks and then I will need to do it again. It’s true that I like cleaning out my workstation because I enjoy the clean look after that.
Sunday was the first day of Raya and I went to Queensbay Mall in the afternoon to wait for Alvin who lives nearby to come and fetch me to the Penang Hokkien’s mini gathering at Egate. It’s so crowded at Queensbay and interesting to see the Muslim in their nice Malay attire shopping around in the mall.
Nothing much for me to do there except walking around and looking at people. I saw the same spectacles shop name where I bought my specs, A-look and I took my specs for the specs washing service, it’s a free service and it’s a way to pass my time.
Alvin then came and fetch me to 3G Cafe at E-gate to meet up with the famous podcast, Penang Hokkien’s host and listeners. It had been 2 years since I last meet up with John Ong, the host and creator of the show. Will talk about it in another post.

A fun fair near Queensbay Mall.
After being at E-gate for 2 hours, I and Alvin went back to Queensbay Mall again for dinner and to shop for some stuff. Later in the evening, I went to the airport to fetch my brother and that concludes my Sunday.
Monday, today is a day that I spent my time with my brother. It’s still a public holiday for everyone and it’s Gurney Plaza that I went. It’s just window shopping and watched a movie, G-Force in the cinema just now, the movie was cute and that’s what I wanted to say about it.
That’s all for now, Happy Hari Raya Aidilfitri and school holiday, pals. =)

Red Box Friday Before Mid Year Holiday
Written by Nicholas Chan on June 9, 2009 – 5:17 pm -I think going to Red Box on the day before school holiday and on the last day of school exam has became one of our school culture. Just right after the mid year exam recently and also before the mid year school holiday, I and bunch of ex-4SA5 class of 2008 classmate went to Red Box karaoke. It’s again a school friends get-together and gathering.
Sharing with you guys is some photos taken in the Red Box karaoke room.
Me and Arron.
We sang from like 3pm till 6pm and there’s like 8 of us. The price for per person is RM9+, a student price for afternoon high-tea K. We got 2 glasses of beverage each.
Chien Chern he is.
Zez Chien with the mic.
Arron doing he sad face.
Chien Chern again, with a middle finger of honour. LOL
My blur look.
I feel taking photos in black and white in a dark room with flash is pretty cool. With coloured, it’s a little bit not nice, that’s what I feel.
And after singing, we just went around walking in the mall. Did nothing, just walk, and talk.

Karaoke on Christmas Eve
Written by Nicholas Chan on December 26, 2008 – 5:06 pm -Frankly speaking, I don’t really remember what did I do on the afternoon of last year’s Christmas Eve, I only know that on the eve’s night, I was at Gurney Plaza and so do I this year’s. After checking back to my archive, I was at Red Box too last year on this day.
Thanks for Daniel of the helper of the recent children’s camp and my senior in my school for inviting me to karaoke session with them. I love to sing, I sing a lot, I go to Red Box and the only down side is I can’t really sing well. Singing can be said as one of my hobby too, besides photography.
It’s so nice that Christmas eve is not a public holiday and so the head count rate for each student in the room is only RM8++ (GST and service tax) with 2 glasses of beverage. People wouldn’t want to go on a public holiday because the price will go rocket high. Another thing is, luckily we did make a reservation for it, else we will not be in there already.

Introducing Daniel on the left and MX on the right. It’s lovely to see my photos in black and white, don’t know why I am in love with black and white photography recently. There’s a little bit of feeling that I can’t explaing, feel, feel feel. Haha.

(me versus Qi Jie, we were not on any battle by the way)
Search Red Box on my search bar above and you can see all my post about my visit to Red Box. This time was going there with all the helpers at the recent children camp, but it’s not all, it’s only part of us.

(Jia Yong and Kenneth on the right)

(Ivy, Ketty, Ying Ting and Sammy)
This visit was fun, happy but it’s not high enough yet. What my “high” meant was I feel I sing well, but this doesn’t but yet it’s still very fun, I am happy.

Say hello to Red Box’s Santa Claus. He came in to give us cookies. It’s one cookie for one room but we took a few. He is cute and so we took a group shot.
Wonder what will next year’s Christmas eve will be, karaoke again? Hehehe.

Karaoke Red Box Friday
Written by Nicholas Chan on November 10, 2008 – 10:21 pm -This is not a unique post because I’ve post about Red Box outing a lot of times and here I am posting again. Haha, this was last Friday, right after my school final examinination, one fifth of the classmates went to the karaoke box together at Gurney Plaza.
The best part is, we get to sing for 4 hours + non stop, and the bad part is, after 4 hours, the person still don’t want to bill us and we were so tired after singing for so long time. Ran out of juice, energy and voice.
Special request first.
Met friends from other classes and they had their own cube. They were so high that as if they were at a concert, shouting to themselves, screaming, jumping around despite there’s only 15 peoples in the room. Haha, but it’s good to see people’s enjoying.
(Zheng Feng on the mic, singing god of the class of 2008, 4SA5)
It’s always shouting in the room. The drinks is definitely not enough for us for long hour singing. Paid Rm9++/student headcount and every one gets 2 glasses of drinks.
(Simon, Liang Sun, Tjun Yee comic artist, gamer and chessmaster, Chien Chern at the back)
(Liang Sun, Arron, Simon, Tjun Yee, Nicholas)
This is my teen life.
Lovely bill as we got 11 persons in the room, they only counted 8 because the other 3 came late and they didn’t realise about them. =)
