Saturday Afternoon At Gurney Plaza
Written by Nicholas Chan on July 28, 2009 – 8:00 pm -Last Saturday was quite filled but I was even more busy on the Saturday before last Saturday. I had been busy doing my studies lately so I have a lot belated post to write up and share with you guys, hope you guys don’t mind. I wish I could have more time to work out on my blog and site, I really like blogging and photography, the problem with it is the time.
Cut the crap and talk about the Saturday of two weeks ago. It’s a busy day for me and I started off the day at Queenbay Mall seafront to support my school’s dragon boat team at the Paddle For Hope charity event. Then me, Shi Jie and Peng Sheng went to town to watch Public Enemies in Prangin Mall’s cineplex.
I found that the day was still early at that time so I alighted at Gurney Plaza when I was going home by bus, hoping to see if I could bump up with any friends there because I knew a lot of people would be there but just I that I don’t know who.
I saw One FM radio crews were having some sort of gaming session behind Gurney Plaza. I didn’t really listen to the Chinese station, ONE FM, I am more to or in fact I just listen to 988. ONE FM is quite a new station, the tuning in Penang is still not clear yet, but somehow, I still prefer to stick with my favourite one, 988. What’s yours?
The Malaysia Nationwide Sales is back in conjunction with the coming Merdeka Day. Be prepare to shop till you drop but the problem is, money! I need more cash. XD
Went to the basement and saw an opening of a new bakery store. I like the bakery store, there’s a lot of cute cakes and cookies. Yet, I haven’t buy anything to try out yet.
I did meet friends at Gurney, they were Andy, Kerying and Phei Qin. Since I met them, so I just followed along, walked around the mall and talk and went into Nichii girls’ boutique store to take photos. I like that boutique because it’s bright, it’s well lit, the lighting is good and they allowed my camera inside. Haha. =D Some shops don’t allow you to take photos inside, that sucks.

Then I saw bunch of school friends at McDonald’s, they were waiting for time to passed to go to a concert at Penang Chinese Girls’ High School. There’s a lot of friends went there no one invited me, so I went to Bon Odori in the end, but it’s very late already.
While walking back home, I saw the milk box thing outside Gurney Plaza and was curious about people peeping into the box.
So, what in it were actually different labels of milk and I need to count the the labels, then fill in a form, answer some question and drop it into the box. Since everyone were doing it, I joined them too, hoping to test my luck to see if I can win the prize or not. One person can only submit one form, so I used the names of my parents and my brother too. Hehe.

Preview of Gurney Plaza’s playground and new shop
Written by Nicholas Chan on November 2, 2008 – 11:25 pm -I went to Gurney Plaza today and yesterday, to look for friends and also to check out on what’s happening there. I was bored and went to walk around the new wing which is going to be opened on the 15th of November 2008.
The little garden besides Gurney Plaza last time is now reduce in size because of the building of the new mall’s wing. They built a little playground at the back of the mall too, near the entrance of Kelawai Rd.
That’s the playground, with some small slides, see no swings yet. Eventually, nothing is installed yet.
There’s a contest going on. It’s held every year during their anniversary month which is happening now. Last year they gave out a Savvy and it’s a Proton Saga this year. In fact, no one in my family actually bother about this contest, it’s like you have shop for some amount in the mall, and you are in the lucky draw list (if you register for it, I know some people are lazy by the way).
And lastly, SEC More is the new electrical appliances store in the mall, competing with Best Denki and SenQ. That’s a lot of electrical store, which one do I prefer? I’ll say, go survey the price of the item you are looking at all store and then see which gives you the best customer service. =D
