I was not ready for it yet, so it’s actually a fun trip and I bet I will go back there again for a real trip which I take lots of photos at there. Waiting for a blue sky which is the green light for me to go there, and also a bunch of crazy friends. =D

Chew Jetty is a place/water house/livings/tourist place at Weld Quay, Penang. Every year, the famous Pai Ti Kong festival is celebrated at there.

I actually wanted to check out this place, pre-look around before bringing my NS friend to this place to see see. But somehow, the Penang trip that I had with them recently did not include this, the girls insisted to go to shopping instead.

I went here before, almost I came here every year but it was during the night, during the Pai Ti Kong festival. It’s my first time going during daylight, not very sunny on that day, a little bit cloudy and it was late afternoon.

The place was pretty quiet. There’s a little tourist touring the place and photographers taking photos at there. Not many residents around too, perhaps they’re still at work.

The place is peaceful, I wonder is any unit at there up for sale, so I can buy it in the future, and revamp it into the most beautiful home on the sea at that area, haha.

Sea water at there is dirty though. Sea water by the shore of Penang is always dirty, it’s not close to big ocean, and so much of development around the city, there’s no turquoise clear water.

Nice place. Everyday can get a good view of Penang and I wanna park a yacht here. Haha.

If you are a tourist, you can check out the Homestay at there. There’s a house with rooms for rent, include breakfast too. Pretty cool. Perhaps I can go there with friends some times. =D Try a bit of the life at there for a day or two. See some sunrise and sunset. Shiok!

We went to collect photo after that, then home! Yeah.

One day, I was driving, on the way to Beach Street from Prangin Mall, then I simply turned into a street, no idea where it was, some where on Beach Street I guess, then I looked around and accidentally found the Tan Clan House & Temple also known as Tan Kongsi to the local.

Alright, Tan is a Chinese surname, Tan is known to Hokkien people and my surname Chan is known to Cantonese people and we share the same ancestor thousands of years ago I believe. Tan, Chan, Chen, it’s all the same.

Found a parking space and parked the car. Then I went down to look around for fun because I’ve never been there before and it’s my first time knowing this place. The temple was close and I guess I may find names of my ancestor who first came to Penang many many years back.

This place is small compare to Khoo Kongsi, this can said that the Khoo has more families. This kongsi-kongsi was where all the people of the same surname live together when they first arrive in Penang island. Later then when the island is modernized, everyone spreaded out.

Pretty cool. Gonna go here again when it’s open.

I think it’s fun with many people around, fireworks and friends, but I don’t like to take photo of the same thing again. Very boring and I feel stress as I’ve no idea what to shoot. I always try my best to shoot the best thing, the best shot to share with you guys and here are they.

So during the ninth day of Chinese New Year, I went there with Alvin, Kooi Jin, Min Xiang and Kok Sheng to shoot photos. Very fun because there’s friend. Last two years, there’s mama, papa and me only.

Photographers and DSLR users are getting more and more. So many people go there, arming with a DSLR, shoot here and shoot there. I didn’t want to join them again because I’ve went there before. I brought tripod for the first time so I tried slow shutter that day.

One thing, I am still not good at flash. I still prefer natural lighting.

Now Miku also got LED, very high tech already.

At first, there’s me only. Later then found Kooi Jin, Alvin, Min Xiang and Kok Sheng. Kooi Jin, my junior had became my assistant and helped me carrying my tripod because he wanted me to fetch him home. Haha, but thank you a lot.

This year was different a bit for me, because I went there on my own, I could stay longer and shoot anything I want, I even go further intor Chew Jetty where I did not last time. Interesting!

The wooden house on the water are so cool, there’s people staying at there and some houses were open for visit at that time. Pretty nice man.

It’s people mountain people sea, that’s a Chinese idiom saying people here and there, very happenings, very crowded. Want to move around also hard.

I waited for fireworks, then I waited for the arrival of beloved Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

I went to close to CM Lim Guan Eng just to take photos of him. He is favourite of everyone. Everyone like him here in Penang. Yeah! Rocks. He came to give some speech, lou sang and go away already. This is what they call, give face.

FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 is getting so so so closer, counting down still got 33 days. Are you ready for it? I am so supporting England for now, don’t know why, no idea, the feeling, the support. Woo. The world cup is heating up, I can feel the heat here in Malaysia, everywhere. Some people stay there until 11am because there’s fireworks, I went home at around 1030pm already because I was too tired. I was there from 4pm till 10pm, it’s quite long for me, moreover I’ve been there before, so I didn’t want to stay until everything ended.

My aim was to visit every corner of the Miao Hui and finally we did, only that we did not see the fireworks.  At night was prettier because there’s the lantern and light. Ideal for photoshooting.

Then I went to look for Kooi Jin who was the helper for GBBM which organized part of the event near Han Chiang’s Temple. Their theme was 忠 (zhong), literally means honest.

Went home! Really tired and interesting photoshoot. I was satisfied with what’ve got in my camera. Didn’t really meet a lot of people there but it’s still fun.

Today passed by 1st Avenue, new shopping mall in town, and I saw the name is up. Seems like it’s getting ready very soon. It’s expected to open in August 2010, but a bit too late already! I will be going to Kuala Lumpur in end of July. OMG. Hopefully after I come out from NS and before I go to KL, it’s done and let me go in walk walk.

Though, traffic jam will be everywhere and I need to take the longest route to go to any place to prevent passing by Jalan Utama and Jalan Dato Keramat where the Thaipusam possession is held.

Back to crap post, one fine day, I took the Sony T200 out instead of the Canon 400D, it’s tiny and sleek, but the quality is still far not to par with the DSLR, very suck for low light, yet still it’s fun to shoot. I like shooting it in 16:9 format, wide screen is nice. Although I still can crop my photos taken with DSLR to 16:9, but still I kinda lazy some times.

So, the reason of going to town was helping dad to do stuff like cheque deposit and collect stuff from the post office. He drives and I work it out.

Went to the Poslaju office to collect a parcel for dad, and he thought it’s something important, but turn out to be 4 RM10 Padini voucher, yet still pretty cool, I can go shopping already! It’s some reward scheme by the credit card company.

After that passed by Little India and saw a lot of Indians at there doing their business. If you wind down your window when passing this place, you can hear a lot of free bollywood music. Kinda cool. =D

At this moment, I am sitting in front of the computer, writing blog on one hand, and the TV behind me is playing Leverage latest episode. Do you watch Leverage? =D Enjoy. Gonna plan where to go later already. Chao! Happy Thaipusam once again!

Woke up pretty early that morning, at around 8am, freshing up took me 1 hour then arrived there at around 93oam. There’s already many people there when I was there.

I went to have breakfast at there, it was a plate of wan tan noodle and it’s not nice, wrong stall I went.

The most crowded stalls are the stalls that sell clothes, many ladies gathered and pick their favourite. Although there’s no fitting room, clothes bought can be exchange after you find it not suitable. Cool right?

Though, pasar malam (night market) have more fashion stuff then morning market, morning market is more about meat and vegetable.

Very old fashion type of buying fish. Dad told me last time when he was small, he buys fish in this way and till today, it’s the same.

One very stupid thing is, I don’t know why people want to drive into this crowded street. It’s market and full of people in the morning, they knew it and they still want to move it, mindless. The state authority should road block the place during the market hour.

Long time didn’t go Kuan Yin temple already. The last time, was like before SPM which we were having temples hopping in Penang.

So last week, I went there with Arron and Chien Chern. Bought praying materials and went to pray in the temple. The whole process took like 15 minutes.

After pray, I went home. Very fast, and very short while. Didn’t spend much time out there because it was getting late and I don’t want to be stuck in the traffic jam.

Pei Shan was one of the Tzu Chi people working at Jing-Si Books and Cafe, and I am one of their frequent visitor. I always go there is not that I really want to drink the tea, it’s that I enjoy the environment, the air-conditioned, the quietness and the low price beverage, making it a place for me to sit down and do some reading. What I read are mostly school’s book which is for exam, so basically, the place is more like a reading lounge/library for me.

It’s a cafe and also a bookstore. But most of the customers are students of high school and colleges like us.

This is not Pei Shan, he is Min Sheng.

So last weekend was the last day of Pei Shan. She is not working at there already and has already changed job. She is a friendly one and kind too, like talking with her and a good person. It’s a little bit bad that she’s gone because there’s no more other like us, there’s Monica, James (self-given names by Min Sheng) which are other Tzu Chi people, which I don’t think are as friendly as Pei Shan.

I didn’t thought of going there in the morning. I was wanting to go to my friend’s place directly to return him something, but he was at Jing Si instead, so I went to Jing Si to return him the thing and also do a little little bit of reading. You know, SPM is coming, reading is very important.

I was a little bit undecided, whether to go here and there or not, in the end, I picked to read. SPM is coming in 5 weeks time and the feeling is getting stronger. I just can’t stop.

Gonna thank Boon Hooi’s for the lunch. I was thinking of going home since everyone was not going to the cafe, but I past by Beach Street and tried my luck to look for parking, if there’s a place to park, I’ll go to sit and do some revision, and really lucky, there’s a place. Parked and went there to sit for like an hour and a half.

Only then, I went home at finish-work hour. Traffic jam a little bit, traffic was definitely not smooth and it’s my first time in it and I found that cranking up the music will help you to pass time. =)
