Guys, now I got a contest that I wanted to introduce to you all. I think some of you might have not heard about it before, so do I but now you will get to know about this. S.O.X. (School Of X) is having marching and cheerleading contest for their user, the name of this contest is very simple, and it’s just March & Cheer.

Well, as you know, this is open mainly to the S.O.X. user. If you are not a S.O.X. user, you can’t really join the contest but you can always just sign up for S.O.X. easily.

The contest is divided into two categories, the Marching Band and the Cheer Dance. The S.O.X. team is currently doing a school tour in schools near to you right now, be sure to be aware of what’s happening in school as they will just pop up when you are jumping around in class. Do check out the school tour list and schedule here.

I found out the prizes are very cool, you know, nothing is better than cash. There’s like prize for Best Drum Major, Best Cheer Captain and Best Dressed Team besides that 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd. The total worth of prize is more than RM10,000!

Joining is easy. Be a S.O.X. user, find your mates and team, and get the forms from their website or at their school tour.

I know there’s people out there like to cheer or dance, quickly join the contest now as the closing date for the entry submission is on 5^th August 2009.

Well it will be one big day on 15^th August 2009 at Stadium Badminton Cheras, Kuala Lumpur from 9am -6pm. It’s not only just a competition but there will be hell lots of fun and games. The competition will be held there and at the same time, there will be games area and bazaar around the stadium compound so it’s not just a competition, it’s something fun.

So do come and see the competition, support your mates and have fun. Sources tell me that there will be performance by local artists like Pesawat, Liyana Jasmay, Caprice, One Nation Emcee, Gerhana Ska Cinta, EMAS, White Percussionists and more while the activities available on this event are eg. Stage games, male cheer, female drum jamming, best S.O.X. shout-out, games stalls, face painting, bijou bazaar, celebrities dunk (dunking machine) and more!

Well, if you have team of friends joining the competition, do vote for them, the SMS voting period is between 10^th August to 15^th August.

By the way, if you don’t know what S.O.X. is, S.O.X. is a special prepaid plan specially made for teenagers between 12 to 18 years.

I am not joking, just sharing some happenings around. I believe a lot of you might be interested in such teamwork contest and you may meet new friends during the contest. Some school missed the annual Cheer event but now there’s another one of you to join, so have fun.

So what we had two weeks ago, on a Friday was the postponed Teacher’s Day Celebration Day and it’s party in every class or it’s more likely a popluck. It’s not really party, it’s eating but yet there’s still fun when everyone were full.

Our class had a popluck party, other classes too but I guess my class had the most food with more than 13 foods to choose from. Some classes students paid RM15 each and ordered catering and there’s like only 7 food while for us, we paid RM18 each and we got so many food.

The food we had were spaghetti, fried rice, fried bee hoon, curry chicken (with roti benggali), sushi, satay, prawn cake, roasted pork (siu yok/sio bak), sausages, fish balls, 3 jellys of different flavours, 2 types of cake, spring rolls, 3 types of fruits, KFC for a Malay teacher, lots of soft drinks and soya bean with barley.

Since it’s a Teacher’s Day Celebration, the main subject was at the teachers at first. We started the whole thing at 10am when the first teacher came in for food. We get our hands on only after they had eaten. My friend had a crazy idea and that was starring at the teachers while  take the food so that they got a little pressure and tension from us, thus getting less food with a lot left for us.

The teachers kept coming in after the first guest who is our school’s senior assistant for CCA came in. We were so excited as that means we were getting closer to the food. There’s cheering, laugher and shouting that fill the air in the classroom.

After they have done with theirs and it’s our turn. When it’s our turn, for sure there won’t be much left over for the late comer teachers.

It’s the real party time after all the teacher had gone out from our class and move to other places. Two things to be said about them coming to our place, it’s too happenings and too many food, I bet there’s no other places better than our class 5SA1.

Just a week before, it’s Chin Ping’s birthday, and last weekend, it’s another girl’s birthday. Ker Ying had asked me out to join her for dinner at Gurney Plaza last weekend with her friends. This was a no cake celebration, but there’s food, on her treats. Thank you very much. =)

It was a dinner at Manila Place, a place where Ying worked before. Unfortunately, no birthday promotion or discount for her. Ate and talked, then went out of the restaurant for a walk in the mall.

Later at some time, I forgot what time, pop up a bouquet of teddy bear and flower, a gift from Esther and Yen, her friends.

The last session of the night was a coffee drinks and card game at Segafredo. I learned to played a very stupid card games and very funny. Every body get a numbers of cards evenly, then shuffle it, then start from a person, place a cut, and start counting from 1, then the next one place another card and say 2, then follow on and if the number that you said from your mouth is the same as what you place on the table, every player must place a hand on the card or hit it, so which means a stack of hands are on the card. The last hand on the card has to take all the cards and start counting again. Game ends when one take all the cards.

It’s like birthday is everywhere. Dad’s birthday is coming soon. So happy. Mine will be in July. =D

Frankly, it was just a fun time for me being there. I am not a person who don’t have a target and I’ve already knew what course and where to go after high school (which is next year). Moreover, I am just Form 5, I am probably going to attend this Education Fair again next year when I am not in high school and at that time, this will be more useful to me. Furthermore, my school is having a mini education fair too, in this coming Friday. So, which means that last Sunday’s visit to this fair is to pass time and join the fun. Since everyone in my school of my Form were there, not really everyone, but many one were there, so I was there too.

What I was looking for was Arts and Design School for Interior Design course. Though, I’ve actually already knew which college to go to for now (may or not change my mind in the future), it’s most probably I am still staying in Penang instead of going far for my further education. There’s only one (or perhaps two or more) college specialize in this course, and Penangite will know which it is. I have no plan for going far for now (and next year) due to budget concern and perhaps I will opt for a degree transfer program to far away in a few years time.

The One Academy is a well known design school based in Kuala Lumpur and for your information, they are opening a campus in Penang soon at Jalan Anson. However, there’s no Interior Design course in this Penang campus at this moment.

Going far away for me is a must, because I want to experience the life of being away from home, but it’s not for this moment, it will perhaps during the degree program of my wanted course.

There’s talk on careers, courses, where to go after SPM/high school and more, but I went in none of them. I was just trying to walk around to gather information about all the arts and design school (for gaining my knowledge about the available design schools). I’ve already knew about some well known names like Lim Kok Wing, Equator Academy of Arts, The One Academy and then I got know a few names more like PJCAD, ALFA, KDU, Sunway University which do have courses on Interior Design too, all based in Kuala Lumpur. First choice is in Penang, second choice is Singapore, Kuala Lumpur is not in my mind. The PJCAD people keep telling me how good it is to be studying in Kuala Lumpur, but isn’t it is the same in Penang? Penang is moving fast right now.

Choosing to stay in Penang doesn’t mean that I don’t want to be independent, the problem is money. I can cut of my living expenses as this is where I am living at. If there’s extra allowance, it’s goes into the extra allowance account, instead going into the living expenses account.

I walked around with a few friends and try to grab some free gifts and bags from booth. I got a few pens, a lot of sweets and two bags.

For you little information, there’s only me in my class who is interested in arts and design, no one else. Don’t ask me why I pick arts and designs but studying in a Science stream class, it’s my school policy. Everyone in my school is a Science stream student.

Met a lot a lot of friends there. Long lost friend like Povy and Jane (above).Met my schoolmates, met people that I had never seen before and met parents of friends.

The one booth that always has a lot of people gathering there is The Star Spin and Win booth. You fill in a form and you spin the wheel, the big prizes were air tickets and an iPod shuffle. People loves this, they spin, they failed and they buy one The Star newspaper for RM1.50 (normal price is RM1.20), they take out the form, fill in the form, put aside the newspaper, queue and spin again. I did not spin, I just stand there and see my friend spin it. Two common gifts that people got were the Xpax mobile simpacks and plastic files.

At a booth, I took photo with 2 students of the flight attendance school. I am not enquiring any information but I am glad to know that for my (short) height, I am eligible for this. Haha.

If I got no colour blindness, I would go for piloting. It’s out of my dream right now and before because of my colour blindness. I went home at 4 with a lot of brochuers, some pens and some bags.

Sony does always have a good exhibition area design to attract passers-by. I love everything they setup with a big stage and large LCD screen in the middle. It’s pretty.

The best part of the roadshow was not shopping for cameras and Sony products but joining the 2 games they had there for the past 3 days. Games were opened to anyone in the mall and you do not really need to buy anything or be a Sony user to join the fun.

The 2 games were, Pose with Skinny T and Smile collection. I joined the Smile collection on Friday but unfortunately, I didn’t make it. The most collected smiles was 118 on Friday and on Sunday was 134. What I got was only 70 shots of smile.

My friend Chien Chern who was the one who got 118 shots, that’s so good. The smile collection game goes like this, Sony will lend you a Cybershot camera, if you have your own will be good, then walked around the mall and ask stranger to smile for your shot in 20 minutes time. If you get over the time, you’re out and that’s happened to one of my friend.

Losers got a tiny little skinny notebook. It’s better than nothing.

There’s another game called Pose with Skinny T and that’s a little bit difficult to do so because you will need to stand still with a pose on a leg and perhaps with your arms raise high. Who can be still for the longest time will walk away with the prize too.

This game drew a lot of shoppers to look on what’s happening there. 3 of my friends were in the game and no one made it, only one, Wei Chung, he lost his balance at 41 minutes and there goes away his prize to a young girl. I’m sure it’s tired with arms raising high and one leg up for 40 minutes.

There got funny MC too. “Ahh… It’s so nice sitting in the middle of the mall.” “Do you want to sit?” “Don’t want to sit ah?”

I forgot to mention about the prize, it’s a Sony Cybershot T77, with cap, a notebook, a sling bag, a camera bag, 2GB memory stick, a aluminiun Sony bottle.

I didn’t know there’s a kind of contest was going on until I saw a a bunch of people beside Shih Lin. Being a busybody Penangite, for sure I went to take a look what’s happening on.

At first I thought it was just a Oyster Mee Sua eating contest, eat as many of Osyter Mee Sua as you can but later on, after eating a few bowl of it, then stand up and turn to other place.

It’s not easy to eat the Oyster Mee Sua because it’s hot and it’s a little bit spicy although it’s delicious. I’ve tried the food before. Somemore, one have to eat not one but a few bowls. It’s gonna be very full and hot.

Then what I was mentioning was they moved to the other station and another person sit down and eat. Only then I know what’s going on, it’s not just a oyster mee sua eating competition but it’s like a station eating contest in a team where a team goes to one station (one kind of food), one of the team member eat and when he or she finishes it, they will move to the other station and another team member will take turns to eat.

I never know about this contest and didn’t really bother to follow wherever they go because I was hungry at that time.

What a coincidence that I met the contestant again while I was hunting for food at the alfresco area. It was the last station for them.

Connect ten straws and suck (drink) the coca cola until it’s dry. When someone finishes the first can, he can get closer to the coke by reducing the connected straws to 5.

They seriously have skill. A guy was like going lower and lower for it.

That’s what I got. Eating contest at Gurney Plaza.

The game goes like this. 1 pair of boy and girl is chosen randomly from the hundreds of attendees. Boy is required to sit down while the girl is to squeeze a pack of milk into the bottle and later then feed the boy. Boy cannot use his hand, he has to sit down and relax while sucking the milk. A little bit of squeezing on the bottle will help but it’s plastic, so it won’t help a lot.

At some times, the head of the bottle can get stuck, and need to take out to “repair” it. It looks fun. =)

Lucky guys get nice ladies to feed them milk, it would be more delicious than drinking (milk) alone at home. Haha.
