Opening This Week (2009) 23/08-29/08

Written by Nicholas Chan on August 26, 2009 – 12:02 pm -

If I didn’t go check on the net, it seems like there’s no cool movie coming out this week. But then, actually there are, but 3 of the 4 are Cantonese film.

Murderer, starring Arron Kwok.

Kung Fu Cyborg, doesn’t interest me that much with the title but there are Eric Tsang and Ronald Cheng in the movie.

Vengeance, a mix of English and Cantonese film. Big stars are in it too, Johnny Hallyday, Simon Yam, Anthony Wong and Maggie Siu. A movie by Johnny To, I like his movie.

Imagine That, the only Hollywood film opening this week. It’s a comedy with Eddie Murphy.

I think I am more interested in Murderer and Vengeance. =) I still got a few movies haven’t watch, Orphans and Laughing Gor! I want to watch them all but I don’t have the time. My god.

Written by Nicholas Chan on May 15, 2009 – 12:27 am -

Do you know about Epop magazine? No, I did not until last week when someone text me “I saw your blog on Epop!”. I didn’t know what he was talking about, I only knew my blog appereared somewhere and it must a me priting media.

I didn’t found any info of Epop on the Internet too. They should have set up a site. After checking out with my friend, it’s actually a weekly Chinese entertainment magazine which is targetted to young teenager girls.

The next day, I quickly went to Popular to look for an issue before my Star Trek movie, it’s only RM3 which is relatively cheap but when when you buy every issue, it will be RM12 per month with 4 weeks in a month, which is still more expensive than my favourite gadget magazine T3 (RM9) or Digital Camera (RM9 too!).

The point is not on the book but on my blog. I was surprised at first because I did not receive any email about publishing my blog. Maybe they are not tech conscious but anyway, I am glad to see my blog screenshot on there. They just screenshot the whole Chung Ling Annual Hiking Event post into their magazine.

Actually, anyone also can get featured in this page by just sending their blog address for a review. However, the thing is I did not know about this magazine, it must be someone who submitted it or the editor him or herself found my blog. Thank you so much for putting my in your magazine. =)

In the air, from Penang to Guangzhou

Written by Nicholas Chan on January 7, 2009 – 1:51 am -

The flight from Penang to Bangkok is around 1 hour plus and another 3 hours for Bangkok to Guangzhou. I was on Thai Airway and of course it’s better than Air Asia with its in-flight service and the fare was a little bit more expensive than Air Asia but a little bit more for the service is good.

It’s not a direct flight but there’s a transit at Bangkok so which means that I got 2 meals air meal in the plane. One was from Penang to Bangkok and another one was from Bangkok to Guangzhou. I didn’t really eat much because I was clearing my stomach for all the nice street food and dim sums in Guangzhou.

You always get to read their local newspaper, I took all of it before getting onto the plane, both the English and Mandarin paper. Dad mistaken the Japanese paper and thought it was a Chinese newspaper but since it’s free, it’s not really problem.

.diggnation. i like! by you.

The in-flight entertainment wasn’t really good, no personal screen in front of me, it’s a big screen in front of everyone playing one movie. I didn’t watch the movie but instead watching Diggnation podcast on my iPod and for the rest of the time, I was either sleeping or listening to music. The in-flight entertainment of Cathay Pacific is better than this. I’m writting this because I only got on board on these 2 airlines before, I’ll no need to say about the budget airline Air Asia, since it’s budget, there’s not really any entertainment for you. Prepare your own entertainment. =)

Thirty more thousands feet above sea level? It’s so nice and very cold out there.

When approaching Guangzhou, it turned ugly, no more blue sky but very cloudy with a very hazy background. It’s nothing much compare to Bangkok, it’s like dust particle is in the air everywhere. The greens were not so green. Penang is still the best or perhaps I should say city in Malaysia has a cleaner air. Wee…

By the way, the business class area in flight Penang to Bangkok was very quiet. I think there’s only one or two passengers there. OMG OMG.
