Christmas Charity Concert at Auto City
Written by Nicholas Chan on January 2, 2010 – 1:33 am -2 days before Christmas, I went to Auto City at night to support the Leo Club of Penang Chinese Girls High School on their Christmas Charity Concert. It’s my first time driving to the mainland across the Penang bridge then on highway for 5 minutes to reach Auto City, it’s fun. For all the while, I only drive in the island. From the island to Auto City is very near only actually, it’s approximately 30-35 minutes drive from my place at Gurney Drive.
Jocelyn and Wallace.
This concert is a charity one, admission was free and they were raising fund for an orphanage home in Butterworth. The kids were there to see the concert too. The fund was raised by donation and the selling of some items like keychains, christmas hat, t-shirts and other little stuff. Since I am Leo Club member, I did help out a bit on the sales too.
There’s Santa Claus appearance and some performance like young rock band Past Time and Tragedies who are like only 15 years old, then a very LOL magic show and dance performance. Eunice who dance brought her whole dance team there to do a few dances.
Wan Pei and Corrinne.
Gini.
There’s a lot of Christmas songs that night, I didn’t know what was I doing around, I keep walking around and not sit down to watch the show. Most of the songs were leaded by their in-house young singer, Gini, who was the champion of Penang’s Leo Idol competition.
There’s chair in front of the stage and good to see most of the chairs were filled up. The fun thing about the chair is that it’s not normal chair, it’s beach chair, chairs that normally use on the beach which is nice for lying down. It’s so relaxing for the people down there who got a seat.
In between the concert, I went to roam around the place and did lame stuff like sitting in the kid aeroplane thing. With a 50 cents coin, the thing moved for like 1 minutes with music. =D I wonder does anyone get on it or not, or only us?
Lions (Lions Club) went crazy.
Cool Fujifilm Instax in action.
Look what I’ve found! Writings and drawings!
Organized by Wan Pei, the thing was pretty good with people coming by and venue sponsored by Auto City.
Me with Min Xiang, Kok Sheng and Tee Jin.
Pei Cing, Corrinne and me.
I Love Yng Shn Dot Blogspot Dot Com.
Victor, my senior.
Very cool Lion Ong Lai.
Union girls, TKF, Caster and Boon Yan.
Eunice, Wan Pei, Pei Cing and Cai Qian on the side.
Happy New Year! =)

Walk For Sight Charity Walk at Padang Polo
Written by Nicholas Chan on July 4, 2009 – 12:39 am -Last Sunday, I attended a Lions Club organized event and it’s the Walk For Sight Charity Walk at Padang Polo. It’s said to be co-organized with the Leo Club but most part of it were by the Lions Clubs. Some Leos did went to help early in the morning.
It’s a Sight First project and it’s fun. Basically, one have pay RM15 which was to donated to the St Nicholas Visually Impact Home, then one will find a partner. Then one will be blindfolded and lead by another who is not and have walk on the road to feel how’s a visually impact feels like. According to some sources, there’s around 3000 people joined this event.
I was there to walk and also to help out to take some photos for the event. But I have dedicated most of my time and energy into the walk so I didn’t get a lot of photos there.
Very bad morning that I went to the toilet twice on that day for clearing the stomach. They got a fun morning aerobic session before the aprroximately 2.3km walk by the roadside.
KOKahKOK.
Andy, Tee Jin, Me, Min Xiang, Alvin.
It’s the flag off at I’ve forgotten what time. I was so excited with the walk and I’ve forgotten to look at the time.
Crystal and Jason a.k.a. Cryson and Jasstal.
Min Li and I don’t know who.
I was not blindfolded at first, was leading some friends and taking photographs along the way. Only when I find everyone were lost, I went to find a group and walk together.
Jin Jie and Rong Zhi.
Jin Jie and Me using the blindfold as a mask.
I found Jin Jie, Rong Zhi and Lester. There’s 4 person, lining up as a train, 3 blindfolded and one leading. I was on the last one, blindfolded all the time.
Lester on the left.
Most of the photos were taken by Jin Jie who was leading in front. I was blindfolded so I could not see anything, so I was enjoying being lead by people. I did capture video instead but haven’t take a look at it yet. Wonder what I did I shoot while I couldn’t see. It was really fun as we couldn’t see and were moving left and right to avoid rocks and bushes.
It’s like around 9.30, we reach Padang Polo again after walking from Jalan Sepoy Lines to Jalan Macalister to Jalan Residensi and back to Padang Polo.
Leo Club seniors.
Each of us gets a certificate of participation and some free snacks. There’s a lucky draw session too. Unfortunately I got nothing but I’m happy for my friends who got themselves prizes, there’s G Hotel free accomodation, pearl necklace from Vanessa’s Diamonds, an oven, SPA voucher and more for the lucky winner from my school.
Remember that we got Largest Leo Club Participation Award? We got like around 30 peoples from my club that day. Anyway, I had fun on that morning. Good to join in charity activity.

Helping out New World Park during holiday
Written by Nicholas Chan on June 25, 2009 – 11:35 pm -The recent mid year 2 weeks school holiday have been something not boring to me, at least I found places and activities to do. I don’t really like staying at home everyday and just surfing the net or sleeping, it’s just like a waste or time, one or two day is ok, but not everyday.
At first, I didn’t intend to help out at the stall at New World Park, it was just looking for food and I saw the stall, the stall by Leo Club of Convent Datuk Kramat and Leo Club of Penang (City), a related sister’s club to my Leo Club of Chung Ling High School and I found out no one there and I was bored, so I went to the stall to sit and help. It’s better than to stay at home and do nothing. At least there’s people to talk with.
They were selling little souvinier and gift product and all the sales that they’ve got goes to the charity.
Cy snapping me.
Taiko no Tatsujin DS
Sometimes, I got bored at there and the heat of the surrounding was so annoying. I did bring my laptop there but the Internet connection was so not consistence. I don’t know why, my friend got to go online but not really me. It’s just sitting there, selling stuff, talking, playing DS sometimes, walking around and looking at people who passed by.
A funny part was an auntie came for us and ask her to help her send an text messages. I thought she wanted to borrow a phone but not, she wanted to send a Chinese text message but she didn’t know how to and so she asked for help. Since we got nothing to do, we helped her. The funny thing was the content, she wanted a man to return her fan, the man stole her fan and she wanted the fan back and I respect people’s privacy and so I stop it here. It’s just about a fan.
Photos of me. ^^
Here it goes one of what I’ve did during the holiday.

Donation for the Palestinian Victim
Written by Nicholas Chan on February 22, 2009 – 11:29 pm -The day before Friday, the school authority made an emergency meeting with us, the Leo Club and asked us to go around classes which there are around 80 classes from Form 1 to Form 6 to collect donation from the students for the Palestinian Victim which got invaded by Israeli forces few months back.
(In my class.)
So lucky that I got my camera with me on that day, so I could go around with them to take some shots. I didn’t go around with them on the first round because I was not in the list, I only follow during the second round to the Sixth Form’s block with my camera, and my task was to take photos. =)
We knocked on the door, went in and said “Hello, we are from the Leo Club and we are here to ask for donation to help the Palestinian victims.” Surprisingly, some take out their wallet without any hesitation and some did not cooperate well but then still donate in the end. There’s also classes with only ONE donator. =)
Luckily most of them were in free lesson meaning no teacher is around, so it’s easier for us to go in or else we have to interupt the teacher’s teaching.

We managed to collect a few hundred bucks from the Form 6 students.
(Zi Qin)
We, ourselves did take a photo with the donating can too but of course, I did drop my very own donation into it, so no worry of me faking in the photo. Hehe.
