Concert or known as Ko Tai/Ge Tai at the temple
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 7, 2008 – 10:58 pm -As you, it’s now the 7th month in the Chinese lunar calendar, which means that it is the very famous hungry ghost month to the Chinese. This is the month where all the “resident” of the other dimension get to go out of their “world”. To be simple, the gate of hell is always open in this month, for output but no input. Cut the crap, read Wikipedia if you got no idea about what is the Hungry Ghost Month.
When 7th month comes, it will be very happenings at the temple area because the people behind the temple would set up stages for shows like mini concert by unknown singer/artists, puppet show and some place have Chinese Opera too. Chinese believes that all these are as an entertainment for the “others” instead of letting the “others” find entainment themselves.
Some loves this month because of the happenings night with loud music and sexy girl singing on the Ko Tai/Ge Tai (literally song stage).
There’s a temple at Air Itam, dad knows the people who run the temple (Ban Sean Thua temple) and since there’s a getai running on last weekend, we went to take a look and in the mean time do some prayers to the Da Shi Ye 大士爷, the “Ghostly King of Compassionate”, you can see statue of Da Shi Ye made up of paper craft at streets in Penang and at the temple.
It was a small temple in deep Air Itam where the Kampung is, and there’s a lot of people was checking out at the Getai. It’s so nice to see a small quiet place turns into a place that full of peoples and musics.
In Malaysia, they actually don’t allow the Getai singers to wear sexy clothing, if I’m not wrong, there’s no such rule in Singapore, do they?
Unfortunately, I didn’t see pretty Getai singer at the Getai show I visited a few days ago, they were like thirties to fourties from my judgement on their outlook and voice. Mom told me that one of the few singer is quite famous but I got no idea who was she. Some even claimed that they release their own albums, but I’ve never heard before too.
At some times, when the singing goes boring, hand claps goes quieter, the Getai singer will eventually take out some stuff to give to the public for free like promo CD, own poster and even food like chips. People here like free stuff, but I was just standing there and didn’t want to squeeze into the crowds where all the auntie and uncle were.
The stage was quite small but the sounding was suprisingly good and very loud. Getai is not about one man show, different singer get to sing for like half an hour and another one will take the stage. The above one claim that she’s a singer in Malaysia, but who is she?
Later then, I wanted to go home. Seriously, it’s very boring there, the Getai show was not my type of thing. Mom said that she want to stayed for a little longer as she was talking with her friends and then another singer took the stage. The singer said she was one of the finalist in the Astro Classic Golden Melody singing competition, too bad I don’t watch the show and I don’t know who is she.
I’m so glad that when mom was done with talking. All the songs at the Getai were seriously not my likes, it’s all oldies and nothing seems familiar to me. =)
Soon, probably next week, there will be another Getai show near my place and that I get to listen to free music by opening the window. Haha.

Duh non-political post
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 4, 2008 – 12:55 am -Number One
If I am losing something to someone, I will try to talk bad about that person hoping that people won’t support him. Try to read between the lines and people will know the real meaning of what I am talking, am I talking bad or wrong or whatsoever. This is just human nature’s instinct to self-defence himself.
Number Two
I want to get or win something, of course I will find a strategic place and idea to get it. I won’t be stupid to go for something that I can hardly get and no-confidence to get. Let’s say I am good at singing a song, I go to that competition will then sing that song again because I hope to win. Although singing the song for so many times, win so many time, but it’s still because of winning and people love me singing that song. Stupid people will got for a no-confidence of winning/getting thing.
Number Three
I am a boy and boy will also get raped or something poke up in the ass. The word sodomised is use when boy being raped or making out or love at the ass. I am a young boy, obviously a young boy is stronger than a 60 years old man. If an old man want to rape me, I will squeeze his ball, twist it, with a little force, push him down and scold “screw you old man”.
Number Four
Holy shit, I am a victim, I hate that person, I want justice, but why I am hiding and not speaking out? Ah! My uncle is so good to speak out for me. Yay, but then got people tell me, why your uncle so busybody? It’s because, because errr, because I, I also don’t know why. Uncle keep saying I’m the victim, I’m innocent, but my uncle don’t know the truth but still speaking out for me, he is so good!
Number Five
Last time. I don’t write blog. Now I have become famous already, because that my name always appear on the masse media and now I have started a blog, the first post is a few days after I have become famous. the second is a week later, and another one is I just writted. I uses my name as my blog address and sign up a free blogspot blog. I got no money buy Wordpress because everyone seems to be using blogspot, so I use also. I still do not dare to come out to the public to speak out, I will use my blog and uncle to help me talk. Yay! By the way, my profile on my blog is clean.
p/s: I is not me.

Bangkok Metro Underground Subway
Written by Nicholas Chan on July 24, 2008 – 12:35 am -I don’t know why I like subway trains. I prefer taking subway trains if there is any in the city like in Hong Kong and Singapore. Though even though, there’s a short 5 station underground subway in Kuala Lumpur, I had never get on it before, it’s so short and the government should subway-ed the whole city instead of just 5 stops and the rest is in the air, the Monorail and LRT.
I don’t know why Malaysia government opt of trains on the ground and air instead of digging tunnel underground like Singapore. They should have go for underground because it makes the city look more beatiful.
2 years, when I was in Bangkok, no one tell me about the Bangkok Metro, which was quite new at that time. Only until a few weeks ago when I travelled to Bangkok again, I saw quite a number of subway station by the roadside.
I stayed at Emerald Hotel when I was in Bangkok that time, it was between to subway station, 1 is Huai Khwang and another is Thailand Cultural Center, the nearest one to us is Huai Khwang which is like 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
It was night time and we were going out to Patpong to take a look at the famous Bangkok’s nightlife area. There wasn’t much taxi at that time and so we were actually forced to take the subway. My brother prefer the taxi because it’s cheap in Bangkok and faster. Well as for me just want to experience going underground. =)
There wasn’t much ticket machine at the station and we went straight to the counter to buy the tickets. It was quite quiet by that time, it’s seems like Thais don’t take trains a lot. It’s not like Hong Kong and Singapore where it’s always a lot of people taking the underground train.
The ticket or pass I got was not actually a card or something, it’s a token which require you to tap at the gate. This is just same like the underground subway at Shen Zhen.
The train is not very long also, there’s only 3 section where in Hong Kong, the MTR underground train is very very long like there’s 6-7 section. Though, there’s only SOME people on the train. It’s quiet and cold in there.
Announcement was made in Thai and English. In Singapore, there’s 4 language in the train, English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil.
After 9 stops from Hwai Khwang, we arrived at Si Lom where Patpong is.
It’s fun taking the train! Weird me. Hehe. You will never see a subway in my city because the they just doesn’t give support on it.

Written by Nicholas Chan on June 30, 2008 – 1:05 am -It’s St John Flag Days yesterday and the day before yesterday. No I am not a St John Ambulance member. MY friend is but he didn’t really like this kind of thing so he got the coin box, put a few coins into it and just keep it into the bag.
(Fang Juinn with the coin box.)
I myself like this kind of thing as I can walkaround and interact with peoples. Still remember few years back, I went to helped out for the Salvation Army flag day and I still remember it’s kinda fun. =D

Cable Mess
Written by Nicholas Chan on June 26, 2008 – 12:27 am -I’m not talking about the cable that lies behind the TV or my computer, it’s some external cables like adapters for PC, charger, USB cables for MP3s, cameras and all sort of gadget. I should have a place for me to keep and organize the cables but actually I don’t, it’s just like everywhere in my room and my mom just take it all and hang it on the hanger right now.
You don’t want to see the cables behind my TV and computers, it would be more messy and digusting. Haha.

DAP Office at Air Itam
Written by Nicholas Chan on June 17, 2008 – 11:58 am -I was too bored that day after tuition and I took some photos outside the DAP (Democratic Actions Party) outside the office near my tuition centre opposite my school at Air Itam.
DAP had been setting up a lot of offices in Penang lately and good to see them around. My previous tuition centre at Pulau Tikus is turn into one of the office too. =D I’m too young for politics but it’s quite interesting sometimes.

Life Suckers and Anti-Luv of 4SA5
Written by Nicholas Chan on June 17, 2008 – 11:22 am -It’s what we call part of the gang in my class, the Life Suckers. It’s started by the Arron who always says “life sucks”, and sooner, more and more classmate started to complain about life sucks and so the life suckers team or gang is formed. Yes, I am part of the team, but I haven’t find any reason why life sucks, though I’ll just life sucks with them for fun, it’s quite fun. Haha.
We got a hand sign for life sucks, where you fold up your last finger and your middle finger. From right, Arron is the creator of Life Sucks, Liang Sun and Cheong are part of the team too
Besides Life Sucks, we got another culture in class and that is Anti-Luv (Anti-Love) which is created by Brendan, one of my monitor. Well, this is about people who doesn’t want to engage in puppy love, or whatsoever love relationship thingy at the moment. Yo! I am part of the gang again, and yes I Anti-Luv too!
I still think that study, play and enjoy is the best at this moment as high school is ending in 1 year time and I should fully utilize my teen life to the max and not wasting on whatsoever love. Just let it be naturally at the moment, if got then great, if none, I won’t even bother to find one, yet.
There’s a sign too, where you fold up the last 2 fingers and it’s Anti-Luv.
So when Life Sucks plus Anti-Luv, it will be come a key and lock symbol with the 2 hand signs. Lame right, but it’s 4SA5, it’s Form 4 and it’s the way of life.
My class is likely to be divided in 2 groups, one is more to anti-social, keep on studying group, another group is the talk a lot, sing a lot, shout a lot, scream a lot, life suckers and anti-luv peoples. Imagine there’s left and right in the class, the whole right side of the back of the class are on the “another group“.
He is Fei Zhai Meng (fat boy Meng in Cantonese, even though he is not fat), or I just called him Bo Mo Beng (hairless Beng in Hokkien) because he just got his hair cut short recently. Cute guy, funny guy, a typical siao kia (siao kia is what we call funny person in Hokkien).
Zheng Feng is a joker in class. He sings well and a lot in the class. Good in sports, football, handball, basketball, etc etc.
This is Liang Sun who is now craving to go to MIT in the next two years and he is working on additional maths all the time on the back of his piano notes.
