How to have your own blog?
Written by Nicholas Chan on January 17, 2010 – 1:31 am -I’m not really sure whether there are still people who haven’t heard about blogs. But unfortunately, a lot of people still don’t know how to have one. On the contrary to what some people think, getting your own blog is actually simple. But in order to have a blog or website, first you need to find yourself a web hosting provider to host your site. Without a web hosting provider, there would be no way to get your website published online.
You can choose to go with a paid hosting provider but if you are just planning to have a simple site, I suggest you go with a reliable free web host. Doteasy.com is a free web hosting provider that also offers domain name registration services. They provide an ad free hosting and guarantees 99.9% for your site. With their free hosting plan you can have as much as 100MB of disk space for free, which is usually more than enough for a simple site and even for a small business site. They also provide you with great free web site builders to help you create your own site much easier and make it look more professional. Plus, you get to use a free cPanel control panel which most free web host could not offer. There’s no set up fee and no monthly, all you need to do is to register for a free account. Aside from that, you can also earn through their affiliate program from $5 up to $70 for every successful referral sign up. And you don’t even need to be a customer to be able to join their affiliate program.

ADV: Channel X and Facebook SMS Rocks!
Written by Nicholas Chan on November 11, 2009 – 11:53 pm -I love Facebook, you love Facebook. I love SMS, you love SMS. After getting myself a Channel X simpack and signed up with the Facebook SMS service, I’m loving it and it’s rocks!

Sorry to say this but can’t deny that Malaysia is always slow in technology stuff when compare to other country which got a very high demand on tech stuff. I am a geeky person and I love to see new tech thing coming in Malaysia. As for this Facebook SMS service, Channel X is the first to bring this service into Malaysia, there’s still no news about the other telco, eg. Maxis, Digi, U Mobile yet.
Because of this service, I bought the simpack to try out the service. From activation till using it, everything is doing so far so good. I mostly use to read my notifications and comments that my friend drop me, sometimes will do some status update.

There’s a few service like wall posts, view friend’s info, poke and more you can do with just texting. Of course, not anything to do with photos, Friends For Sale, Farmville. It’s just keep you update with what’s happening on the go while you are not near to the computer, given that you don’t own a very high tech Internet phone and don’t want to pay for the bloody expensive data fee. The subscription fee is as low as RM1 per week and it’s for everyone.
You can’t don’t want to say not-rocks right now, because everything, price, and features are so tempting and easy to use.
Can start using it now if you are a Channel X user! If not, go get a simpack like me, fast! Check out the website for more information. Good night.

ADV: Text F to 32665 to Sign Up Facebook SMS
Written by Nicholas Chan on November 10, 2009 – 1:42 am -
I have talked about my recent buying on a Channel X prepaid SIM pack and now I am teaching you how to sign up for the new Facebook SMS service. Actually, I don’t really need to teach you because the steps are just too easy!

On your phone, just text “F” and send to 32665 (without the open and close inverted comma of course). Wait for a text message which will contain the secret code for you to key into your Facebook.

When you got the secret code, you can login to your Facebook and look for the Mobile linky on the bottom right page. Then at there, follow the on screen instruction, key in the secret code and you are ready to Facebook SMS!
Very easy right? Yes, I am receiving updates on my phone now, and at the same time, replying people’s wall post and updating my status from phone. It’s all only for RM1 per week. I got RM5 pre-credit in my SIM pack, so I still can use for another 5 weeks without reloading. Sweet!
Not available on other provider but only on CHANNEL X! Yeah.

S.O.X. All-Stars March and Cheer
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 28, 2009 – 9:31 pm -Yeah and it’s the S.O.X. All-Stars March and Cheer event again. It has already been two weeks since the event had past. Just sharing around on what happened on that day at the event site at Stadium Badminton Cheras KL.

The judges.
When I first came across this thingy, I thought it will like just another youth carnival in town, there’s already so many for us to join, but somehow this turned out to be something different. It’s mainly themed on the band marching and cheerleading competition at the same time with side entertainment like the carnival thing that happened at the same place, same time. All brought to you by S.O.X.

The supporters.
The event itself was a blast, hosted by top MC, Yasmin Hani and one of everyone’s favourite, Fly FM DJ Hafiz Hatim. The competition was big, there are 13 cheerleading teams and 3 marching band. It’s just not all, local artists and groups were there too, rocking the whole stadium out loud. Pesawat, Liyana Jasmay, Caprice, One Nation MC, White Percussionist and EMAS Cheerleaders were among the performers at the event.

Many did enjoy the games and on-site activities too like face painting and shopping for food, clothing, and accessories at the bazaar. It’s really a fun day for everyone, with show, games, food, and more, guess it’s what “enjoy” means.
Talking back to the competition which is the main thing of this S.O.X. event, I’ll share with you some of the winning teams;

Cheer Category Winner:
- 1st Prize: Pirates, SMK Cochrane.
- 2nd Prize: Vibrant, SMK Puteri Titiwangsa, KL.
- 3rd Prize: Z’erox, SMK Seksyen 1, Bandar Kinrara.
March Category Winner:
- 1st Prize: SMK (P) Sultan Ibrahim, Johor Bahru.
- 2nd Prize: SMK Tinggi Klang, Selangor.
- 3rd Prize: SMK La Salle, Klang.
Other prizes:
- Best Dressed March: SMK (P) Sultan Ibrahim, Johor Bahru.
- Best Dressed Cheer: Dazzle, SMK (P) Pudu.
- Popular Choice March: SMK (P) Sultan Ibrahim, Johor Bahru.
- Popular Choice Cheer: Vibrant, SMK Puteri Titiwangsa, KL.
- Best Cheer Captain: Esther Yeoh Shu Han from Vibrant, SMK Puteri Titiwangsa, KL.
- Best Drum Major: Nasruddin Mohd Shahri from SMK Tinggi Klang, Selangor.
Congratulations! If you missed it, hopefully there will be a repeat next year, I bet there will. Hehe.

Buy cheap General Motors Place tickets
Written by Nicholas Chan on May 3, 2009 – 10:13 pm -General Motors Place is not a place where you buy GM’s car but it’s actually an indoor sports arena in Downtown Vancouver, Canada sponsored by General Motors. For a little knowledge, it will be renamed as Canada Hockey Place during 2010 Winter Olympic Games in 2010.
What am I going to talk about is a website that allows you to find cheap or discounted General Motors Place tickets. ACheapseat.com is the website I am talking about. It’s easier for you to buy your tickets online and choose your favourite seat so you no need to go to the ticket office and queue for it, it will be wasting your time afterall.
Besides that, it’s just a few clicks away for the tickets to your favourite concert and event. The site does not only offers ticket for General Motor Place but also ticket to other stadium across the States and Canada. For example Sears Centre Arena ticket and also Verizon Center tickets are available too.
