I want to watch The Coffin

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 5, 2008 – 12:57 am -

It’s Thai horror, everything is in Thai but starring Hong Kong’s famous actress Karen Mok. I want to watch this horror movie, The Coffin, perhaps after my exam. I do afraid of horror movie, but I like the way adrenalin rushing inside of my body, creating tension and scaredness, it’s like on the roller coaster. Haha.

Movies Talk:Max Payne

Written by Nicholas Chan on October 21, 2008 – 5:03 pm -

If you are fancy video games, you will know about Max Payne. I don’t play video games a lot but then I’ve heard about Max Payne a long time ago and in fact, I’ve played the game before, only some part of it. I got no idea what’s the story is all about before watching it.

It may not be an action packed film with chasing and gunning in the whole movie but some gunning part is cool. Story might be confusing at first but you will slowly understand the plot of it.

It’s about Detective Max Payne, living in New York City (love the setting because I like NYC) who still can’t get over with his wife murder few years back and continue his investigation on his wife. The plot then started to twist a bit with what you see on screen.

I wouldn’t say this is a very good movie, some effects were good but repetive. Give it a 6.5/10.

Recommended to watch in the cinema, you won’t be dissapointed.

On the other hand, I went to Cathay Cineplex at Prangin Mall and the theater is very long, luckily I did not choose the seat on the first row, it would be very far.

Movies Talk:Eagle Eye

Written by Nicholas Chan on October 4, 2008 – 2:45 am -

Eagle Eye is the latest movie that I’ve watched in the cinema lately.

I didn’t know about this movie until my friend told me about it. Starring the young Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan. It’s an action and triller cyber crime movie.

It’s a little bit similar to i, Robot. As a geek, tech and computer lover, I don’t like the movie at some part because it’s too sci-fi. The ending is better than when it begins. The story is nice to me.

I will just give it a 6.5/10. Transformer and Die Hard 4.0 are still better than this.

Recommended to watch it in the cinema for the great sound effect. If it wasn’t the effect and “big” scene, I wouldn’t recommend you to go to the cinema already.

Movies Talk:Connected 保持通话

Written by Nicholas Chan on September 30, 2008 – 2:04 am -

Woah, it’s holiday and I went to the cinema with some friends today to watch a Hong Kong thriller firm, Connected 保持通话 (mandarin:bao3 chi2 tong1 hua4, cantonese:bo2 qi3 tong4 hua2).

It’s a 18PL movie but I get to go into the cinema because there’s some cinema in Penang that doesn’t really care about it. Starring Nick Cheung Kar Fei, Louis Koo, Barbie Hsu and more.

This is thriller, action movie about a lady being kidnapped and makes an emergency call to a random number to call for help. A guy picked up and the story starts.

I only know that this movie is a remake of the US film Cellular, I have never watch that before but after watching Connected, I got to say that this is a nice movie. The story is good and the chasing scene is nice.

Recommended. Go to your nearest cinema to watch now!

Movies Talk:Babylon A.D.

Written by Nicholas Chan on September 18, 2008 – 11:43 pm -

We got no movie to watch in the cinema yesterday. It’s either 18 rated movie or movies that we have watched. No choice for us to choose, it’s only Babylon A.D. Vin Diesel looks cool, I like he being in the movie The Chronicle of Riddicks.

In Babylon A.D., the setting is in the very far future. Though, there’s some CG part that I don’t like, looked very unreal. You can see that part in the trailer.

We didn’t even know the movie has comes to an end, the ending of the movie sucks. I don’t like the story because I don’t really know what is it talking about, the climax is just not climax. I gotto say that the plot is badly written.

What I like in the movie is it potrayed some of the future faces of New York City. Very cool, but you don’t want to waste your money for the movie in the cinema.

Not recommended. Rent it or download it (illegally as you like).

黑太阳 Black Sun 731, Chinese Rated R video

Written by Nicholas Chan on September 11, 2008 – 11:10 pm -

My friend, Jing Min asked me to watch a video in YouTube. After watching, I was like “Oh my god, it’s so digusting”. It’s a film clips of a film titled 黑太阳731 or Black Sun 731, a Chinese documentary film of the 80s which is about the Japanese doing experiment on the Chinese during the WWII.

Watch it if you daring, it contain strong gore scene.

It’s a movie that was directed by a Hong Kong director and also the first movie rated 3X in Hong Kong which is not a sexual film. I never know that the movie directing was so good back in the days.

經典變態電影- 黑太陽731經典片段1 (Clip 1)
經典變態電影- 黑太陽731經典片段2 (Clip 2)

By the way, you will need to verify your age for Clip 2.

Movies Talk:WALL-E

Written by Nicholas Chan on September 3, 2008 – 12:44 am -

For the 2nd or 3rd time, I can’t be sure, I watched an animation film in the cinema. I’m don’t have the interest of watching animation in the cinema. I watched most of the animation film at home on my comfy couch etc Kung Fu Panda, Ratatouille, Shrek and more.

Recently, I went to watch WALL-E at the cinema. WALL-E is another animation film produced by Pixar (a company which uses all Apple computer to make animation). The CG animation is getting better as years goes on. I got to tell you that WALL-E is more different than usual animation film because it has less talkings/dialogues in the movie. The character, WALL-E and EVE are cute Sci-fi robots.

In short, it’s an art.

It’s worth for paying 10 bucks into the cinema for the movie. Though, I have one friend that don’t know what is art fell asleep in the cinema mainly because the beginning of the movie was boring but as it moves on, the story get more interesting.

Recommended, but I think it’s better to buy Bluray or DVD and watch at home, it’s worth for getting as a collection.
