This is when Olympics sports become an art, thanks to the team behind Getty Images of The Big Pictures for taking such beautiful photos on that marvelous night. Check out their gallery.

Wonder will I get a chance to be part of a photography team of such a big event? =)

Penang International Dragon Boat Festival 2008

Written by Nicholas Chan on August 10, 2008 – 12:15 pm -

Penang Dragon Boat Festival # by you.

This year is the first time I attended such event. The International Dragon Boat Festival in Penang where’s 2 dragon boat competition, Club Crew World Championship and Asian Dragon Boat Championship. It’s quite a big event in Penang and it’s held at the Teluk Bahang Dam which is quite far from town, every year. Thanks Sheng for driving me there or else I won’t be there to join crowds.

I went there on the last day of this dragon boat festival and unfortunately, it rained when we arrived. I was worrying about me not taking any photos because of the rain, but soon the rain stopped and it’s started to get hot and sunny.

I was there to meet my school’s dragon boat team, they’re quite a strong team, all macho macho, I guess that’s explain the reason of them getting 3rd in the Club Crew World Championship.

When you see blue shirt, with the word Forward marks on the back, it’s my school’s dragon boat team. Forward is actually a dragon boat team that not only of consist of members from Chung Ling High School but also adults. So there’s 3 team that went out for the competition, Under 18, Adults and Seniors.

I was kind enough to help people to take photo because in the mean time I could get some content idea to write on my blog. Haha. Thanks Khan for the Media Pass, though it doesn’t seems to need any pass to get closer to the boat, but it served as a souvenir to me.

Sources told me that Singapore’s NJC girls team loses to some team and were penalize to run around the  dam. True or not, that’s what my friend told me. It seems like they got a tough coach there.

I went back at 3pm it was so tiring running here and there. Luckily there’s free drinks sample to quench my thirst. I’ll be there again next year for the same thing, it’s kinda fun but then it happened when my test is here, it just make me feel uneasy. Nevertheless, I had great day and once again congratulation to all the winning team especially Chung Ling High School’s dragon boat team.

Written by Nicholas Chan on August 3, 2008 – 12:55 am -

Maxis is having a promotion tour sort of at Gurney Plaza. I went to Gurney Plaza to meet my mom there I came across a clown at the centre area where Maxis is doing their promotion thiny.

Balloon

Give you

I saw kids were surrounding her, it’s a she-clown and I was bored, so I went up to ask for a balloon too. Hehe.

Clown

She wanted us to sing for her to get a balloon, she wanted Jay Chou but hell there’s so many people around. Thanks for a friend for singing the Doraemon theme song and we got a balloon. Haha, it’s so easy and she’s just so cute.

YE / Young Enterprise Sales Fair at Queensbay Mall

Written by Nicholas Chan on July 24, 2008 – 11:50 pm -

It was the 2nd year I join the YE or Young Enterprise program in school and this was also the 2nd time going to the YE Sales Fair which was held at Queensbay Mall, the same venue as last year’s sales fair. The year before was at Prangin Mall and I guess from now on, it’s always Queensbay Mall.

To be simple and short, it’s a bazaar that sells a lot of handmade product by young entrepreneurs like us. Hehe, truly it’s all handmade. No machines with a little bit of exception. I didn’t really stand around the stall to do the sales, it was others that did it. We actually did have a lot of salesboy at the scene, so even if me was there or not, it doesn’t make a difference.

The sales still continued. I did sell like 100bucks of product for the first day but none for the 2nd day. I was like keep speaking “Hello, take a look please, welcome and thank you”, with a smile of course.

As for the rest of the time, I was either by the my stall or just walk around with the camera as if I was the official photographer but then I was not.

And again, I met and spoke with Mr CM Lim Guan Eng again, the beloved Penang Chief Minister. When I heard he was coming to walk around the stalls accompanied with other corporate directors, I quickly go changed on my uniform, put on a tie and the my school official blazer. It’s because I just love to do sales talking, promoting and interacting with big people. Since there’s no one volunteered, so I was the one who stepped out.

Funny when he said that I spoke so well, asked me to join DAP when I grown up. Haha.

This is Mr Zhao Wei who is the artist for the Handybook. People loves to ask him to draw for the Handybook, when asking to draw on the spot, the price of the Handybook goes up from $6.90 to $10. He told me that he was quite nervous as a lot of people was looking at him when he draw. Nevertheless, he did a good job.

Frankly, we were quite playful on both of the days, I and some friends were like walking around stalls, asking silly question. Some were stunned and some did actually play back with us. All the time, they were like asking me to buy this and that, but to be true, I will never buy until the last minute. =)

This stupid shirt is insulting my height. I admit that I am short, it’s because that I’m not tall. Haha.

There’s actually mascot, it’s a birdman from a Malay school. I don’t think it’s a good idea, he’s not very well make up too and so didn’t really take up a lot of attention. I think he should wear a bigger wings at the back and flip when it’s necessary. Hehe.

Most of the stuff selling there were quite useless to me. I only fancy with some stationery like pen, notepads and some handphone straps. Say no to bookmark because I don’t really read, I only read on the screen.

For your information, there’s actually a stall selling self-written Malay reference book for Form 3. I was wondering is the information in the book is true or not? It’s most probably didn’t send into the Ministry of Education so my advice is buy at your own risk. Haha.

Penang Chinese Girl High did actually make some cute plush toys. That’s most probably girls are good in this kind of cute cute thing.

Waiting until the last 5 minutes until the sales fair officially ended, we had good a bargain and bought stuffs at cheap prices. Thanks to, our talking mouth. =)

How’s our earning? Will tell you after we are done doing the numbers. Yo! It’s a good experience and fun to join this kind of program. I was quite tired on the first day and we had good meal on the 2nd day’s night. Thanks everyone the who support us and help out.

At there, near to finish, I was stunned when I saw Anthony brought in a cake. I was like on cloud nine and I wanted to shout but not in a public area. I was too excited and happy till I was speechless. Thanks a lot Anthony and to those who tried to take off my pants, please be careful. Haha.

160708 Birthday’s Gifts

Written by Nicholas Chan on July 21, 2008 – 11:48 pm -

First of all, I gonna thank you all who wished me on my birthday which happened to be on last Wednesday and also Saturday which was the 2nd birthday of mine on the Chinese calendar. Haha. For the funness, I have been wishing to people happy birthday too even though it’s not their birthday until next when I feel it is. It’s part of my stupid-ness celebration, so when it’s my birthday, it’s yours. Happy birthday!

This year is my 16th birthday, holy shit, I have grown a year older, or should I say it a year younger. I just like to goes against the nature. Haha. My birthday have been the same almost every year, no big celebration. It’s just either go out with friends or go out and eat with families. Presents and gifts are always the, from dad and mom.

Though there’s some difference this year. I bought myself a birthday gift which I didn’t do it before. I received not much but more than before birthday gift, and also wishes via sms and IM. Thank you all. I love you guys.

IMG_4342

No cake at home but cake at the tuition centre which was bought by Mr Anthony. The bad thing was, my pants were took off as it’s actually a tradition of my school where when a person’s birthday, the pants have to be off and WTF I was the victim. Haha.

IMG_5334

Back to the gift I bought myself. I actually bought myself a Nintendo DS Lite 2 months ago. Yes, it’s my very first own birthday gift and I love it a lot. Games on it are quite addictive and have been loving it every moment. I think from now on, I gonna buy myself a birthday gift every year.

IMG_5340

Dad bought me a Nike Connexion laptop bag to case my laptop as he knows I have always wanted a laptop bag. Thank you dad!

Mom too bought me a camera bag. Still remember the Bagman bag a few months back? It’s actually my early present. So I got a lot of bags this year.

IMG_5330

Brother Yikhung bought me an Adidas perfume for man. Haha, I am a man now. No I am not, still wants to be young.

Didn’t really receive a lot of gift from friends, it’s more likely from the inside of the family. Nevertheless, I gonna thank the 4 that bought me gift. Thank you guys!

A Starbucks mug from Yiphing and Janice. =) I loves Starbucks!

A very cute and nice notepad from my old Biology teacher or now more to be known as a friend, Yuesi.

IMG_5297

This was a funny gift from Anthony at first. He told me that it’s just a free gift from the petrol station and then he gave it to me. True or not, it’s still a gift what. No matter what it is . Hehe.

IMG_5352

Then the true gift was a pen and also buying me a birthday cake. Really very happy.

IMG_5345

This little bookmark is given by Tee Jin, Xiu Xin and Tjun Yee. I’m not sure whether is that really that you guys shared it because you guys looked suspicious to me that time. Haha, anyway, thanks!

And lastly, the best of all, a jar full of stars. Thank you so much! I’ll never ever forget this.
