Day 3 : Doi Suthep Temples
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 9, 2007 – 11:04 pm -
I decided to write on my visit to Doi Suthep Temples first then later I still got many temples to write. HAHA, Chiang Mai is very famous for it’s temples, old and beautiful.

I sit in the van for 45 minutes from town to reach this place. It’s on top of the hill, don’t know why the van driver go up hill that time want to switch off the AC.

Tour guide asked us want to walk up or take the cable car, my mom say want cable car, but then I and dad want to walk, so we walked. =D

Exercise mah? Not correct meh? Haha. Not very high one la. A while can reach already.

Bought praying needed material - joss stick and candle. Then we go inside the real temple place that got the pagoda with gold paint.

No Shoes there. Then we have to walk around the gold pagoda 3 times only can place the joss stick.

That day somemore was their Buddha day, so the temple was very crowded with locals and tourist. Take photos and pray.

Nice? That time got a bit rain, small small, but for a while only.

We then have to ring all the bell. Don’t know why, but see people do, I follow.

I can see the whole Chiang Mai from the top there. It’s kinda fun going there.

They say, go Chiang Mai didn’t go Doi Suthep temple considered never visit Chiang Mai before, so go Doi Suthep Temple is a MUST visit place in Chiang Mai.

Day 3 : On The Way Down
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 8, 2007 – 11:17 pm -On the way down from Doi Suthep temple, I saw …

Kids playing with each others in their local mountain people traditional clothing.

The baby so cute. Tour guide say, they will ask money from you (in English, Mandarin and even know Japanese) when you want to take a photo with them. Mom pity, so gave them 20baht, took a photos.

Innocent look.

Then later, I saw food. This one, not hot dog, it’s PorkDog, NO HALAL. I realised that they love pork so much, at my hotel buffet that time also got PorkDog, then some more got Pork Satay.

Want buy? They say it’s handmade. Souviniers, mom bought 10 and gives to friends and family.

Day 2 : The Wet Market
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 8, 2007 – 7:29 pm -The tour guide decided to bring us to the wet market to buy fruits. She herself also wanted to buy some food.

For your information, the wet market there is same and not same with ours. Their wet market is hotter in temperature, things are cheaper and have a lot of cooked food.

I ate something there, very very sweet. If you got diabetes, I advice don’t simply eat food there. Some very salty.

This stalls stalls selling cooked food is just like our economy rice stalls but with more food. I don’t know fresh or not, there got plenty of these stalls.

Lalala. What do you think?

Day 2 : Miscellaneous
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 8, 2007 – 6:42 pm -Yo, I am back. Encountering some problem with Wordpress - Can’t type Chinese, =(. Anyway, some photos of my Chiang Mai trip, last last week.
Whenever you go with a tour company, they sure will bring you to some local stores to buy stuff. If you didn’t buy also nevermind, as long as you go, they get commission. But it is damn boring.

We went to a place to see hand and paper made umbrella. Actually the umbrella there cannot use under the rain one, just as decoration. And there also got many hand drawn stuff.

My mom pick a butterfly and drawn on her jeans. The guy say it’s waterproof, but then now the color already faded. Bluff people ah?

I don’t know what the insect call. This is definitely not the insect farm. It’s Thaksin, the ex prime minister of Thailand’s silk factory or showroom. Boring, but get to see how they do silk.
All the product there very expensive and we bought nothing.

Diamond or not? No, it’s not diamond and it’s 3.5 karat of White Gems. Made in Thailand. Haha. Only 100 bucks. It’s shiner than diamond but not as hard as diamond. My mom scared people cut her finger so didn’t get one.

Then go to bird nest shop to eat or drink bird nest. Guess what?

It is not delicious. Home cooked is always better. This one is premade already one. 150baht per bowl. Not sweet enough.

Day 2 : Maesa Elephant Camp
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 3, 2007 – 4:59 pm -Go to the Orchid and Butterfly Farm and now we are going to Maesa’s Elephant Camp. It’s about half an hour ride from town.

When we arrived there, we were greeted by this 2 jumbo dumbo. You know, the elephant hair very thick, like needle like that.

Don’t really know about the entrance fee, travel agent arranged everything for us already. So we just step in and PLAY.

You can see their King portrait at the entrance there.
Then I bought, bananas and sugar cane for 20baht to feed to elephant.

They so enjoy, can get free food from us.
It’s nose touch me, ew, got mucus/saliva, don’t what is it. HAHAHA.

After feeding, we went to the riverside to see the elephant bath. I can’t get to take the photos of the elephant shitting, you will be surprise as it’s faeces, shit pop up from it’s ass like cannon ball. Worker there actually collect their shit to make papers.

Then we go to the show area to watch the elephant show. I last time saw before elephant show at A’ Famosa, it’s different, this one is more real.
I’ll show you one part of the show where the elephant do free kick like David Beckham. LOL
Why don’t want show you all? It will be spoiler if you are going to Chiang Mai. Don’t want to spoil you. Hehe. Roughly tell you about the show, they blow, they massage, they kick, the draw, they throw.

They can draw very pro, more pro then me. Hehe.

The bad thing is, jumbos needs the worker to help them change the brush color.

For sales, don’t know how much.

Then we went to sit the elephant. You know how much is it? 800baht for a elephant. One elephant can sit 2 person, my dad and mom 1 elephant then me myself one elephant. I am KING. Haha. A bit expensive, cause dad paid 800baht for 1 person. But don’t care la, experience ma.
About half an hour for the elephant ride. Going up and down the little hill. Feeling was like, shaky. Mom always shout “Slow, slow, slow”, when going down steep little hill. But then I think the person don’t know what mama was talking about. Haha.
And then, we went to those useless, boring souvenirs shops, silverware, handicraft, honey, silk, bird nest, blabla. I hate it, if you go with tour sure will go this place. So I think go backpack with some friends will be fun, self tour.

Day 2 : Chiang Mai Butterfly and Orchid Farm
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 2, 2007 – 7:28 am -Woke up I don’t know what time in the morning, I think it’s 7.30am, then went for breakfast at the hotel there. Dad went to make some changes, changed our room from a normal room to a deluxe room. That’s better a lot.

Our main destination is Maesa Elephant Camp, but we stopped by the Butterfly and Orchid Farm to check it out. I do not recommend this place, unless you loves flower a lot. The butterfly aren’t pretty, all same kind one, only 1 design. Haha, and it’s so so smaller than our Butterfly farm here in Penang or KL.

When we first step in, some thai lady there will come and pin this on your shirt as souvinier. LOL, I threw it away after that, feel uncomfortable pining on my shirt.

This is me camwhoring at the Butterfly and Orchid Farm.

Nothing much to show about because there nothing one besides flowers and same kind butterfly. Coming up : Maesa Elephant Camp
