Penang 2nd Food Blogger Gathering at Edelweiss Cafe
Written by Nicholas Chan on September 29, 2008 – 7:57 pm -Last weekend, I’ve attended a food blogger gathering at Edelweiss Cafe, a swiss restaurant at Armenian Street. If you know about me, I do have a food blog, I love to eat, I love to shoot and so I share what I eat and some food pr0n at SHIOK OR NOT - The Food Blog. I recommend you to visit it when you are hungry. Haha.
(Speaking is Nigel of Tripadvisor.com)
It’s the 2nd food blogger gathering, thanks to Lingzie for organizing it and Criz for informing me about this event. I missed the first one at Hai Nan Town, and I couldn’t be missing the second one again. Actually I have event that evening but at last minute it canceled and only then I could go to this food blogger gathering. I tagged along Yiphing and Alvin Yang with me.
(Nigel’s wife, Diane. Thanks for letting us to take photos of your sausages.)
It’s a small place, approximately local food bloggers and some guest attended this gathering. I get a starter, main course, dessert, coffee and a little door gift by paying RM38. It’s not that bad, once in a while is okay. It starts of with a little introduce-yourself thing by going round. I wore my NICKCHAN.NET shirt and it seems like people are liking it. Thank you.
I got to know about some other food bloggers that I’ve never heard before and also met the famous 5xmom who makes money through blogging.

(Durianberry of The Gastronomic Diary)
(Allen of Yummy-Station)
(Lingzie the organizer with Criz hiding at the back)
(I need names, please identify yourself. Haha. I know Steven Goh is the first one on the right)
(Criz of Criz Bon Appetite)
(Me and CK of What2See)
It’s a little gathering where people sit down on a round table, eat, talk and exchange ideas. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to know all, but at least I made friends.
Food was pretty good, it was my first time eating out at Edelweiss and if there’s a chance, I’ll go there again. My mom and dad don’t fancy swiss food and so I’ve to look for friends.
It was a nice experience eating out with other food bloggers and given me a chance to expose myself to the real world instead of just sitting in front of the computer screen. Thanks Lingzie for taking me home and Shi Hui for the brownie.

I made myself a Blogger Tag
Written by Nicholas Chan on May 10, 2008 – 10:38 pm -I was wondering how do I publicize my blog outside, offline. Print a shirt with my blog link on it? Yes, it’s a good idea. I already made a few design of the shirt but until now I still haven’t print it out on a shirt. Should I DIY to buy a transfer paper and iron on it or take to the shop and ask the person to make for me? I’m sure it’s expensive.
Well, I have a lanyard tag lying around in my room. Why not write something on it and hang it on my bag or maybe as my personal media pass? Haha.
I made myself one today. Just type and print it out. Not wearing the lanyard, but hanging around my camera bag when I go to the model shootout at Gurney Plaza today.
Not a bad idea right? Free publicity for my blog. Wonder if anybody saw this on my bag. Haha. Gonna make a few more for my other bags. This is on my camera bag at the moment, later one for my tuition bag, one for my school bag. Wee~

Flickr Pro Account
Written by Nicholas Chan on January 16, 2008 – 11:45 pm -
Many people don’t like to use Flickr because the limitation of only able to view 200 photo maximum with the free account. After playing with the free Pro account last year for 3 months, I tell myself I am getting myself a Flickr Pro account. But then I don’t have that much money yet. I got my Canon 400D, I shoot photos almost everyday, and my photo library are growing rapidly and I very need the Pro account for my unlimited photo storage and sharing. I really need to thank my sponsor - Mr Starwing from www.melvinf.com.
Last time, I wrote only a line saying that my Flickr account is sponsored by him is not enough, and only 1 Twitter update about it. So now, I apologize for being unappreciative and write a post to thank you a lot. I really glad that you sponsor me a Flickr Pro account and I promise will take more nice photographs to share with all of you. =)
Check out my Flickr Photo Album here.

Met Pop
Written by Nicholas Chan on December 7, 2007 – 12:51 am -Last weekend, pOp, or Jason from smashpOp.net came out to Penang to play, have fun or whatever. Since I am a recent reader of his blog, so I went to say hi to him. They were at Gurney, with other fellow Penang bloggers.
I was at Gurney in the afternoon, watched The Last Breath then I went home. Didn’t feel like going out, lazy, then pOp called and ask me where was I. Then again, since I and my friends haven’t had dinner, at first they want to order pizza to my house, then I say go Gurney eat better, then can meet pOp also loh.
I, Tee Jin and Khai Liang went to eat BBQ Chicken. That night they come my place sleepover, talk and play games. We encountered something at BBQ Chicken there, a guy waiter approach us and drop us a note.
“Hi, my name is blablabla, I would like to be your friend blablabla. My h/p number is blablabla. If can, send me an sms or missed call me. Thnks”
We were like OMG and LOL! That guy look so tiny, tinier than me and than look and sounds so ghey! Good thing is, that person gave us a coupon to get free chicken wings, we take lo, since it’s free. Don’t bother so much. Luckily, I got a pen, wrote something back and leave there.

KNN, if a girl waiter, pretty one, want to make friends with us ma good lo. Haha. No offense la, I don’t hate gay, lesbian or homo. Just feeling uncomfortable, weird with the notes. If you want make friend with me, introduce yourself first, in the cyberworld will be better.

pOp and other bloggers were at Food Loft. After finishing my dinner, they went to find me. I saw many of them, some know, some don’t know. Saw, Aaron, smashpOp, Cedric, Chee Hsien, Wendy and got some I know but forget already. That time was night ma, so dark. Haha, and I was like gan cheong gan cheong, cause seldom meet people I met in the cyberworld.
I say hi to everyone, about 5 minutes like that than I was off to go. They still can hang out till late but I can’t cause I am just 15! and can’t drive yet! 18 months more till I get my driving license, 23 months till I do whatever I like, not really. So wait. I’m still young young young.
By the way, nice meeting pOp and everyone. My friend keeps saying he looks so like JJ Lin Jun Jie. Wakakaka.
