New supermarket opening soon in KOMTAR

The highest or tallest building in Penang is the KOMTAR Tower. KOMTAR’s full name is Komplex Tun Abdul Razak. It’s the tallest standing tower in the heart of Georgetown, if you are on a public bus in Penang, all the bus will goes to the bus terminal at KOMTAR before going to the main terminal at Weld Quay. Prangin Mall is at KOMTAR too, the office of Penang government, is too at the KOMTAR and there’s a restaurant on the highest level of KOMTAR.

Recently, I was bored and went to walk around KOMTAR and took some shots to see what’s happening inside the KOMTAR before walking over to Prangin Mall for a little shopping. It was yesterday.

KOMTAR had been ugly for some times. There’s stalls scattering around the little mall and not many shops are open. I believe it could become a pretty and beautiful mall if some developers are willing to work and revamp the mall. Make it something bright, friendly and shop-ful. There was a cinema in KOMTAR like 10 years ago, but it dissapeared.

The state government’s office is in KOMTAR.

This is quite a random one, a money changer in KOMTAR. Actually the owner shop saw me with a camera shooting around and he asked me take a shot of him. Just a shot, no gain no lost. The money changer has operate in mall since KOMTAR opened like 15 years ago.

Here’s another 2 fellows that asked me to take photo for them. Ha! That’s a mini food store near to the Prangin Mall-KOMTAR skybridge.

On another part of KOMTAR, there’s some renovation going on, you can see the flooring is totally different from the other side. A supermarket is opening soon in the middle of this month. It’s name is Pacific Store and is taking over the lots where Super Komtar supermarket used to be. Good to see that there’s some work going on but, it’s just one small part.
